Still no luck for me! Looks like we need to update this once again. I bet I will be one of the unlucky ones who do not change until the last possible time.
Well, seem notlist3d hit it, Lauda hasn't made a post since activity update, defaced and rugged as well. So those guys still have a chance. As for the unluckiest title, it still belongs to: https://web.archive.org/web/20151009120828/https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=71557

It happened sooner then I had in my mind.  I thought I would be close to end ... and out of blue it's a good surprise Smiley.

It's been a fun few years.  Lot of time when I look back into it.
3702  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: can i make a profit with 50 ghs asic and no electricity bill? on: December 09, 2015, 06:26:24 AM
the electricity is "free" because it's include in my monthly rent.

the reason why i'dont buy asic with a higer speed is i only have about $60 to fund my mining plan and i live in indonesia so it's hard to find seller with free shipping to my country and i can only find it at ebay so if you know where else to buy it please share with me.

and i'm planing to buy antminer u3 because i think it's the most worth it choice for cheap asic, if you have other opinion post it here so i have other option.

thanks

Make sure your read about zombie's on U3.  Unless you have a plan in advance to deal with it your going to hate the U3.  It's just a truth zombie's without automation to fix kills them being much fun.   And you will not ROI on a U3 just math does not add, you can run it yourself: https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator  Make sure to have difficulty changes with it.

Phils idea of S1 is not a bad idea if you get a good deal. But again run ROI math.  Even with free electricity do a ROI to make sure you will get what you paid for miner back with difficulty changes.  U3 I can promise you will not get it back.
3703  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC Trojan Miner In Your Computer - How To Detect on: December 09, 2015, 06:20:31 AM
Use a good premium (not free) version of Antivirus + Antimalware and install them right after you install the OS and get them updated, I use Avast + Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and they both provide real time protection and stop any such programs from entering the computer.

Here's a guide if you suspect that something of that sort is running on your computer: http://www.malwareremovalguides.info/trojan-bitcoinminer-removal-guide/

Apart from using Antivirus and Antimalware it also uses  HitmanPro and RogueKiller.

There are some free ones that are not to bad I would say.  Granted it varies greatly depending on which ones were talking about.  Avast really has grown in userbase over past years.

I would agree with Malwarebytes being a very good layer to have in addition to have.  I would suggest having multiple layers.  One thing I would also suggest is keeping router current and having a firewall on it.  It gives you a layer before something can hit your network (hopefully).
3704  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie needs a wallet on: December 09, 2015, 06:15:54 AM
if you want web wallet then i can recommend you can go for coinbase.com and xapo, this two web wallet i have been using for more than last 19 months and not facing any problem with them, with xapo most of the faucets give you rewards and you can get payout immediately in some faucets if you use xapo. coinbase is good for depositing to other sports sites which is secure and fast.

You could also Use the Service of the HaOBtc Company which also gives u a good interest on the Amount you spent there. I also use the Service over there and its quit nice Smiley
Whats in your Mind now OP? Would be great to know what youve done now or so far Smiley

regards
BTC LOVER

That comes with risk though your trusting someone else with your coins.   So massive difference then if someone has cold storage.

I'm not sure how I feel to be honest on most wallets that offer interest.  The company your talking about is huge in mining so I cant say it about them, as I have not researched it.

But sadly a lot of the ones that offer interest are are ponzi schemes.  I would avoid them as a general rule.  Granted there are a few I'm sure are ok.. but a lot more that are not.
3705  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: December 09, 2015, 06:07:25 AM
So, first 5 days or so payouts will be significantly less than other PPLNS pool. I received a payout of .00333 today from Kano. How about after 5 days, will payouts be about the same as other PPLNS pool such as Antpool or better? If it is the same, I don't see any benefit in mining at Kano, other than supporting lesser hash rate pools. Since I have to pay hosting fees no matter what, I am just trying to maximize gain for 3-4 months.

You can expect a little bit more per day than other pools as long as kano.is continues to find an average of 1 block each day at present hash rate.  According to wisdom, the present hash rate of kano.is (4,717 TH/s) should mine 28.08 BTC per day.  That's a little over 1 block each day.  If kano.is can maintain that one block per day average, you should see nicer payouts than what you would normally receive on other PPLNS pools.  If kano.is maintains 1 block average per day and adds another block on top of that one block or even two blocks over that one block average during one particular day, you will absolutely LOVE the payout for that one day.

As the hash rate increases on kano.is, the number of hours it takes to reach 500N should get less and the number of blocks should increase of course.  The advantage during times of good luck on a small pool like kano.is is at present is the day 2 or more blocks are found after maintaining the average blocks found for overall pool hash rate.

The dates you see a significant number of days between blocks are days in which the pool had well under 2,500 GH/s most of the time.  At that hash rate, it would be normal for the pool to find one block every 1.5 days.  The payout would still be a little better than other pools each day on average as long as the pool found at least one block every 1.5 days at that 2,500 GH/s hash rate.  The days in which kano.is finds more than the average estimated blocks [While maintaining average blocks found] are the days you find it worth staying there.

EDIT:  Yes, you will continue to receive payouts after you left kano.is IF you decided to leave. If kano.is was to maintain 4,700 GH/s at present while you were gone, you would continue to receive diminishing payouts over the next 5 days as blocks are found.

What's important to understand is that your 5 days of building up shares isn't lost. When you stop mining there, you'll continue receiving full payments on each block for the next 5 days, even though your miners aren't mining at kano.is anymore.

Give it time, you'll love it. You'll make more than at antpool.

Got it, that's what I wanted to confirm. I will stick with Kano, probably point 2 more S7s too.

Thanks.

I think a reason for it growing is some like to support ckpool which is not a bad thing at all.  The pool forum has been kinda interesting to say the least.

You can read kano on SPV Mining: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1274066.0   Normally the pool forum is not nearly this interesting.  To see him care about bitcoin I think is gaining him support as far as more pointing machines there.
3706  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 21.co bitcoin computer/miner on: December 09, 2015, 06:03:15 AM
Did you happen to make a backup of image before doing this?  It looks like possibly a RPI under the hood so I'm sure lots of us would love to play with the firmware.
It is precisely an Raspberry Pi 2 Model B powering everything. The only thing that 21 actually made was the shield on top which does the mining and the additional custom software to run that miner and do whatever they advertise the thing to do.

That's exactly what it is and it cost less than $40 to mass produce.  They probably spent more on marketing realizing that they needed to make their first catch their big catch because after that the word would get out fast that this is nothing more than $80 of parts with a bunch of hype.  You can buy this kit on Amazon for $60, another $20 for for a flash drive for the block chain and that's about it.  I mean its cool and all, but at $400 I would be sending it back building one for a 1/5 of the price.

I don't know if I would consider it money spent on marketing.  In this case I think it was more PR for investors.  I still think main objective so far was to prove they can make chips, and release a product.  This they can now say to investors... which sounds a lot more impressive then we have a design or porotype.

Their goal was not to sell the product I still don't think.  They priced it where they knew a few fish bite but they really don't have a big production problem when a very few sell.

From what I've seen others do have some of the software from these and played with it which is surprising they did not lock it down or try to lock it down since part of their pitch was the software.

PM Question about different option then google drive.  Here is one for A6.

As a alternative - https://www.dropbox.com/s/j8qhb6xxwdchm9g/A6dhcpbackup.rar?dl=0 is now set up.  It is the BlockC DHCP image in a .rar format to make it smaller and also on dropbox vs google drive.

I won't post it in main post as google drive seems to work for most.  Dropbox since free sometimes does have to many shares and can lock it up for a day.
3708  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best bitcoin wallet? on: December 09, 2015, 03:46:30 AM
I like the Coinbase wallet, but I use it mostly because I don't have a computer that would be good for running a full node.
It would be *great* if you could run the Bitcoin full node because Bitcoin really needs more of them.

if you are using coinbase just because you dont own a computer, i think it is better to use paper wallet or blockchain.info wallet for you to have full control over your private keys and coins and your money will be much safer than trusting a 3rd party site coz they can be shutdown in rare cases

Coinbase has to do that though.  Read through their insurance they  have for overall if they gave private key's it would be easier to possibly lose coins.  It's meant to be new person friendly.

And if website has a hack, not one user getting hacked but truly the website/company caused it then it should be insured.  It's never been tested so you never know but they hold a insurance most dont.

Yes having private key is great, but make sure cold storage if counting on this.  Getting paper wallet off blockchain.info is not really a cold wallet as it's also online.

Hi guys,
I wanna ask if how to earn a bitcoin except on promoting a website(signiture campaign)
Like on faucet that you can earn few satoshi's but it's just a cents
Can share your secrets that you can earn fast and easy?
or doing a long term project that you can earn lots of bitcoin if you do it successfull.
Please share your secrets..

Trading is my method, but I sometimes gamble just for fun. because trading really have to be clever in analyzing the coins, I was still learning and sometimes lost on trade.

in fact to earn fast and easy? I think only the signature campaign in my opinion.

The highest-paying signature campaigns end up resulting in a payment of MAYBE $30/month for a few hours of work. You can make MUCH more in the real world. I have no idea where "fast and easy" comes from when it's anything but.

I can get 30-45$/month in the signature campaign, it was small enough for living expenses. but you have to work smart, like playing trading. I can at least make more than $50/month. so I do not have to work outside, if at home better and closer to family and each day meet the family:)

Where do you live where $50 is enough for a month? I had looked in the past but the cheapest I could find was ~1400/mo for a decent living.

I think he's talking like 3rd world countries.  There are some that honesty a small amount of money might make you feel rich at.  But they can be FAR less then 1400 a month for decent living.  I'm guessing your talking about pretty developed country for 1400.

If you need more info it might sound stupid but look at those add's on tv.  Where it's like save a kid for what a cup of cofee costs a day.  Or places with factories of people doing jobs for very little pay, sadly things like sweat shops.  It's places like that where 50 dollars might be huge.  But if in US or lot of countries... yes 50 dollars wont get you much and run out much quicker then a month.

Even cheaper places in China are much more than the 50. India and others as well. Wondering where he's from. He's got Internet so can't be too bad.

There are still some places with internet cafe's or such.  Internet is normally a sign of better living (as it really is a luxury).  But some places like internet cafe's do exist in not so great places.

Look at some MMO's out there people play them all day and sell items/money etc.   But they might consider that work.  I still don't think faucet is enough for anywhere.  But it is uprising some of the way's some have found to survive.
3710  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did you earn some bitcoin today? on: December 09, 2015, 03:38:47 AM
lose 0.01 at altcoin trading , price of some altcoin down now
because bitcoin price up more now i try trade btc-indonesia rupiah at vip.bitcoin.co.id

It's not really the price of altcoin going down right now (look at it vs usd price).  Its that BTC is having such a big upswing right now.

So for a lot of people they would have been better holding BTC as of this second.  Depends on when they bought altcoin, but it's BTC going up not really the price of altcoin going down if you compare it to usd in a lot of cases.
3711  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC Trojan Miner In Your Computer - How To Detect on: December 09, 2015, 03:32:00 AM
We all know that there are BTC trojan miners, which mine BTC in your computer. But how to detect this trojan ? If I understand right, you can not see this through the task manager. So you must check your CPU speed ? And the main question - how to delete this parasite ?

That's what the Antivirus is good for. to detect potential threats! If you have a good antivirus and keep it updated it will protect you from that kind of harm.
Not all antiviruses or in fact, no antiviruses can detect every threat in the world. It is not easy to check for such a virus. Some virus are only programmed to mine if the computer is inactive for X minute or when the task manager is not open.

A good example is looking at botnet's.  Sadly a "bad guy" could have a ton of computers in his botnet.  He chances are sells it to highest paying person as it truly is a criminal enterprise.  I mean if your computer is infected with something where they control it like a  botnet your computer can be doing some very bad things.

You could be doing anything from sending spam, attacking websites, to yes mining.   And you could change depending on who is paying botnet owner.

I agree not all get detected.  You might get lucky and get them all but quite possibly part is left.  Honestly if you have one or had one blow away system and restart. (Make sure if you had a hot wallet to get private key or wallet file, and honestly don't keep much in any hot wallet).
3712  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My Horrible Idea on: December 09, 2015, 03:26:08 AM
I was considering grabbing something larger, but this is just to give myself something to do and waste my time. There was nothing i could possibly learn or gain, and i would be wasting money on the whole system, but yolo. #richprivlage #lotsofmoney #loaded #jkimpoor

There is so much wrong there I will not comment on 2/3 of it.  But look at heat factor of U2's you honestly are getting nothing. Even if you do all this ... you gain nothing.

There is nothing you can share good out of experiment as the heat is just so little.  If your set on doing it you need to change out the miners being used.  U2's you will have almost 0 effect here.   But I will leave it at that as far as this thread goes.
3713  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: December 09, 2015, 03:14:03 AM
So what you are saying is if my file system version on an B3 is 9/15/2015, i should not upgrade to the 10/23 version on their website.  Its working just fine with very minimal hardware errors

If it's working fine with little errors my feelings is why update?  I have to be given a good reason or good feature to make me update.  I just don't like flashing a special controller when I don't have to.  A reason would be like S3's that reset button did nothing... that is great reason to update.  But not all updates are like that.

So for the most part with bitmain gear I did not flash updates to often.  The exceptions were S4 and C1's with sd cards I flashed them quite a bit.  But others if it's working I don't see big reason to flash.
3714  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d - Also FAQ and Help on: December 09, 2015, 03:11:09 AM
Cool.  I will try those photo software for attachments.  Regarding the case, there are opening in the back that I can add additional fans.  I think I recall seeing another post from you on another thread that shows a fan controller that can control up to 4 fans and power attachment.  I have 2 spare x 120MM fans that I can use to assist with the cooling.  The case will only be housing the PSUs, switch and cables so I think it should be fine.  The Avalon will sit on top of the case.

It's a 4 pin adapter from molex - http://www.amazon.com/Phobya-4-Pin-3-Pin-Splitter-Connection/dp/B007S3T4O0 .   I have not used it in this thread with the Avalon.   I used it quiet a bit with C1's though and it works good.  It's just a simple splitter no fan controls or anything special.  It did the job great with C1's.   It actually does 6 fan's if needed.

Honestly the Avalon 6 does a pretty darn good job with heat in my view.  Granted it's winter so easier but I can say I ran Avlaon 4.1's all summer with no issues.
3715  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My Horrible Idea on: December 09, 2015, 03:07:28 AM
I already did all the math for all the heat dissipation and math stuff and it would do nothing, but i just want this to look cool and have fun messing around. But this is just one of those, screw it i'm bored and its 2 in the morning projects.

Your spending more on material then the miners are worth.   If at all possible look even at used miners.  S5's run hot and loud.   S3's are not expensive at this point.

So there are other options.  I mean a small fan would take away all U2's heat so you wont see much if anything.  You really are not testing anything.
3716  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Setting up new diff thread Dec 6 to Dec 20 picks closed. on: December 09, 2015, 03:04:10 AM
I don't think people turning on their S1 would make a dent in the overall hashrate. How many of those S1 were actually produced? About 10,000 ?

That's only 1.8Ph/s which is like less than a 3rd of a percent of the overall hashrate. And most of those S1 are probably undervolted which would be like 0.1% of the overall hashrate.

Today was a 17.2% day!
more then 10ph

but all 1 watt gear works when we get over 400 usd if the owner has a cold home and there is a lot of 1 watt gear

Yep.  I can attest to that.  Smiley "free" heat is good

And I think there is a TON of a1 gear that fit's this catagory.  Think of all the different miners that used a1 chips... so scary amount.  I do think a lot never left china.  That there are a good amount of A1's sitting in basic data centers still making money.  Which is pretty darn impressive.

Price at 416... so tore through that 400 barrier. Cant wait to see what it does next.

A friend said I should sign up here? why?
Because you can get a lot of knowledge about bitcoin here. Tongue

And you can earn money in this forum with a signature campaign.

Cool. thanks. I'll check it out!

I would highly recommend using it for knowledge.  There is a lot of it here depending on what you enjoy doing.  From mining to trading there is just a big volume of posts that are helpfull.

I would recommend staying away from signature campaigns till later down the road.  Use time now as learning which it should be as new person.  Pay goes up at full member so you can wait till then and not miss out on a ton of pay.

you sure your PSU can handle 288/ 288 /288 /288 ?

this is an extreme setup... we do not recommend it. Try at lower spec .... like 200 / 200 / 200 / 200 and make sure your PSU can handle 800 watt ( minimun 1000 watt PSU => 80% rules)

Ok, PSU is an 2000Watt, ans i make it to 200. Same problem :-(

Are you running the 2000 watt PSU on a 220/240 connection?  Is there any chance you are running off 110.

Just trying to think of things that might limit a server PSU like it sounds like your using.  And 110 would limit it for sure.

Why is Ebay and Amazon sellers selling these S7 for $2300-3300 when BitMain is selling it for $1650 plus cheap shipping cost?  Is it due to trust issues with wiring that people are willing to pay 50-100% more?

people charge more on ebay because they price in certain % of scammy buyers.
I don't know why honest buyers agree to pay significant (above 13%) premium, though.
I would never try to sell one on ebay until it costs $400-500, and even then maybe only with PSU that I know will work.

Only reason I can think of on honest buyers is paypal.  They feel protected on purchase (which they are very much) and they can buy it on ebay vs buying with bitcoin.  Someone who is new  might be a little afraid of sending payment for decent sized miner knowing btc has no back or reverse if it goes wrong.  (With it being bitmain they do fix if issues though, but new person might not know that).

I know my first big asic was a A1 I used paypal on it through forum.  I paid more as I felt safe.   So I can understand it when being new.  But sadly scammers do kinda ruin it on big items.
