3701  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Lomachenko vs. Teofimo Lopez Lightweight Unification fight on: September 22, 2020, 10:33:14 AM
I admire Loma because he did not retaliate to the insults thrown on him by Lopez on social media, he just rather let his fist do the talking om the ring come October.

Yes, just like Manny, he do the talking in the ring and used his fist to shut the big mouths of their opponent. I think Lopez will later regret spewing all this insults.

That would not happen, there's no regret, Lopez is not a fool and he knows he is an underdog in this fight, can lose against Loma but if he can sell the fight better, he will get a good share of the revenue, that's what boxers do now, they fight for money, big money so I don't really believe a lot on what they say as for all we know it's just a marketing technique.

The split is already predetermined, Lopez is already guaranteed $ 1.x million, and there are no PPV here, that's why he was offered that big amount. Initially he has rejected it and Loma step up and agree to have his pay cut just to be able to salvage the fight. Of course, boxing now is business, trash talk and stuff, but most of the time, the fighters that is so loud mouth losses the fight, except perhaps for elite boxers such as Floyd Mayweather who can walk the walk and talk the talk.
So we can expect that Lopez will lose in this fight? Hmm... that's what most of us are thinking for sure, and that's why the odds for Lopez is so good if you are a believer of him. $1 million guaranteed money, I think I read a news in the past that he wasn't contented with the pay, correct me if I'm wrong.

If we look at the poll, yes most of the users here are thinking that Loma will prevail on this fight but if you are a Lopez believer then chances are that you will win big as Lopez had a very good odds for this one. Lopez' guaranteed purse rose to $1.5 million when Loma agreed to a pay cut to salvage the fight from cancellation.

Yung mga di gaano confident sa english nila, discuss tayo dito, playoffs na, di ba kaya na excite?

Lakers vs Denver, anong team sa tingon ninyo ang mananalo? at bakit?
I'm still up for Lakers, 'di ko ma-explain thoroughly pero sa tingin (sa tingin ko lang) Lakers is a bit too much for Denver Huh Medyo na-overestimate ko na ata LOL, pero if they could still maintain their tenacity then I don't have anything to doubt haha.

I think Lakers is too much for the young Denver Nuggets pero tingin ko rin hinto ito sweep at yong isa or dalawang panalo ang inaabangan ko dahil bawi na ako sa talo ko for the last two games kung darating ang panalong iyon sa Nuggets  Smiley.

How 'bout sa East? Tingin mo don? I'm rooting sa side ng Celtics, para sa match up doon.

I'm rooting for the Heat dahil kay coach Spo  Smiley pero marami ang nangangarap na maging ala "Manila Classico" ang NBA Final, Celtics vs Lakers kaya lang ang Celtics is composed at the moment of very young players which i think is to their disadvantage, masyadong reckless sa tingin ko ang mga core players nila at hindi nila kayang mag-maintain ng lead in most of their playoff games.

Lots of news involving the PBA these days and this one is one of the good news that i think is worth sharing specially to the fans of Phoenix and Calvin Abueva. I just saw this on my social media news feed and i can't verify if this is true but the way things are shaping i think Calvin Abueva will play on the first game of Phoenix on the PBA resumption, i just hope that he is a changed man by now.

3705  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: September 20, 2020, 12:18:38 AM
If they are running this league without profit then I don't think it will last longer since they are business people who aim for profit, and in addition we also have to consider that teams are paying millions of pesos for the salary of the players and the staff so it's not worthy if they will not get profit in return for their business. Maybe we will only see the PBA in one conference if Covid-19 still stays, it might be halted again.

P65 million in just two months, i think they can afford they one considering that this is the only time that they will do a bubble and also i think we have a better scenario next year in terms of COVID transmission plus the vaccination of people then things would be back to normal.
It's very good that they are doing this bubble at this time of the year because it somehow show the Filipino people a glimpse of hope and also be entertain in the comfort of their own home as we are an avid fans of this sport.

PBA chairman Vargas reveals Clark bubble will cost league around P65 million

Was there really an assurance that we will be free from covid in the coming months? The vaccine has not be release yet, I think no country yet has already invented a working and proven vaccine against the covid-19 so it's hard to expect that everything will be back to normal after this conference. P65 million is easy as they have budget now but for another conference with the same set up, I doubt they will resume.

No assurance that we will be COVID free next year mate but the sure thing is that things would improve and people can learn to live with it if ever it still exist but if we will based our speculation on history, the 1918 FLU pandemic lasted only two years and the vaccine was developed more than ten years after. With the complex technologies that we have at the moment, this COVID-19 pandemic would be over in less than two years IMHO.

I don't what's the share of Loma on the PPV buys or there is any in the contract, all we know is that Loma takes a cut in his pay so that Lopez will get a bigger share of the pie for this mega match to push through. But nonetheless, Lopez is doing a great job and it started to get into the nerve of some Loma fans lol. Yeah, i agree that when the final bell sounded they would embrace and said they are only doing their job and they have nothing against each other.
3708  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Lomachenko vs. Teofimo Lopez Lightweight Unification fight on: September 19, 2020, 11:44:21 AM
And for the record, Lopez confirms that there will be no rematch clause so this makes it more exciting,

https://www.boxingscene.com/teofimo-lopez-no-rematch-clause-contracts-lomachenko-fight--151764

Lopez has been in the media lately saying that he has no respect to Loma etc etc. I think this will motivate Loma more to shut down big mouth of Lopez, hehehe. Lopez here is acting more like a diva and the anti-hero or just trying to get into the head of Loma, but it might back fire on him.

Haha, Lopez is just helping Top Rank advertise this fight bro and it got the attention of some celebrities. An article showing on my social media feed which shows Damian Lillard rooting for Lopez because of youth factor  Smiley.

I sure as hell was going bet on the over 209.5, but for some reasons I forgot to place my bet.

@Reid this series might be a one to ignore as a Nuggets fan  Cheesy Cheesy

Lol, i'm not a Nuggets fan but with this series i think this is good for gamblers/bettors because the bookies would increase the odds for the Nuggets to 4x-5x and if ever the Nuggets will secure at least one win then it's enough to recover whatever we loss in the previous games. Many believe that the series would be a sweep by the Lakers but i think it will not, Nuggets would win at least two games  Smiley.
3710  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Police Raids and kids involving spider betting. on: September 18, 2020, 10:01:56 PM
Are there some way to guess if a spider will be strong or not?
How much does cost a good fighting spider generally?
It will depend on what type of spider it is usually spider tigers or just those small tiger that can fit in matchbox, in these season spiders we're too many now in my country that kids tends to take care them and use it in betting, commonly its only cost less than a dollar or less depending who plays it. Before when I was a kid the only betting rules is who ever win will buy snacks or will just follow some winner orders.
Thank you for all those explanations Sir. But do you know if a spider is able to make several fights?
Is it like cock fighting where you can have champions winning plenty of matches?

Spiders are very different from that of a cock/bird because on my experience spiders are only good for one or two fights and they are not the same anymore and you may throw that one away while cocks can win 10x defending on how you take care of them but the good thing about spiders is that they are free you just need to search them in the woods.
Thank you for these precisions.
Ok so it's a very special kind of betting, it's very hazardous as far as I understand. You can't really guess which is the strongest opponent before the start of the fight apparently. So it's more a gambling game than a betting game at the end...

Right, you can't really tell the superior spider at the start specially if both of it has more or less of the same size unlike fighting cock where you can tell which one is on the advantage because you can tell the breed quality by merely looking at the cocks. Yeah, you are right, it's more of a gambling than a betting.

Lakers always start the series with a bad game.
What do you guys think?

Just kidding. I am betting for the Nuggets here without handicaps.
I just want to consider some things with O and U. It might become a low scoring game too if defense will be suffocating.
210.5 is kind of low though.
I bet they will put Danny Green on Jamal Murray to stop his offensive explosiveness.

Okay. Denver and Over 210.5 @6.40

That's the trend for the Lakers, giving up there first game  Smiley.

I'm betting for the Nuggets ML because the odds is too tempting considering the Nuggets have beaten a championship caliber team and their morale must be skyrocketing at the moment but i just stayed away from the under/over for this first game. IMO, Morris is a better stopper than Danny Green so let's expect Jamal Murray's offensive output to be better here that the previous series so over 210.5 is not bad at all.

~snip~

IMO, you friend Bassey needs professional help as he is out of control. He is not cursed because i don't believed in that, he just don't have the discipline a gambler should have. He has already a job so gambling for him should be for fun and not to earn money as if he does not expect money monthly. I have many friends who i considered compulsive gamblers but they don't end up like what you described on your friend because my friends knows what they are doing, i mean they have the objective on that particular day and when they achieved that, they call it a day and come back whenever they have free time. Easier said than done but your friend really lack the discipline.

3716  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Whyte vs Povetkin II on Nov 21 on: September 17, 2020, 11:55:45 AM

Yes, this is what I'm trying to point out, Whyte's chin has been exposed from that uppercut that he got from Povetkin, while Povetkin, although taking heavy damage as well is holding his own. So it's close to saying that Whyte is really looking for trouble and another knockout from Povetkin is not that far. Let's see what the odds are, but Povetkin might be the favorite here? What you think?

Povetkin is my favorite to win again here, I'd like to bet on Whyte but that knock out is so spectacular that we seldom seen a punch like that where the receiver is already out before hitting the canvass, this is devastating for the receiver, when they face each other Whyte will keep telling himself I must watch out for that uppercut, I'm sure there will be fear factor when they face again.

Lol, yeah that's one hell of a knock-out punch and it's comparable to the punch that Manny Pacquaio delivered that KOed Ricky Hatton. Whyte just have to keep in mind that he is winning the fight before that lucky punch landed  Smiley. I lost my bet on the first fight but still i would bet on Whyte because he would be more careful this time to avoid that lucky punch. Maybe we can see here more clinching on the side of Whyte.
3717  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: September 17, 2020, 11:29:02 AM
I'm finally back here after a long vacation, lol..

There are a lot of news today but what excite me is the update on the PBA return, they will have their own bubble and that's what I like to witness.

https://pba.ph/news/pba-on-with-season-bubble-restart-in-clark

Quote
Even with fans limited to watch the games on TV, the PBA is all set to return with a bang, holding a bubble setup in Clark City in Angeles, Pampanga.

Though still awaiting the government's official nod, the pro hoop has scheduled its Season 45 Philippine Cup restart on Oct. 9 at the AUF Gym, with the compact tourney running for two months.

It will be in Clark Pampanga, I hope this is final and the date will not be postpone.

All the speculation of the PBA resumption is finally taking shape and i believe that this PBA bubble in Clark City will push through and successful because they will just copy what the NBA bubble have done and maybe improve some other things that is applicable to Philippine settings. It's good that the date of the resumption coincides with the ending of the NBA.
3718  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2019-2020 betting on: September 16, 2020, 11:12:47 AM
Great games.
Won all my bets. A little sad I didn't make it a parlay. My fault.

How about that for the Nuggets?
I was worried when they rested Jokic at 2nd. They are like -9 without him.
But when he got back. Whoa! Suddenly there was fire on every player of the Nuggets.
Another triple for Jokic. Goodbye Kawhi.

The East is something else.
BAM! Not again! Stopping a dunk from Tatum?! Nice!

Congrats Reid, what a profitable semis for you man. It's just fortunate that you are a Nuggets fan and they have an awesome odds against the Clippers even if we only won two games on that series, it's enough to offset everything we lost on the other games.

What do you think of the first game between the Lakers and Nuggets? Does the trend continue, Lakers losing the game 1 in every series?

Cool
3720  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Whyte vs Povetkin II on Nov 21 on: September 16, 2020, 08:30:09 AM
Not surprise that Whyte wanted to get his revenge on Povetkin. He was really winning that fight, until that uppercut lands cleanly. So he wanted to get crack and really shows that he is not a over hype boxer and that his name belongs on top together with Fury, Wilder and Joshua.

For Povetkin, no adjusted as well, maybe he just needs to cover his chin and look again for that counter. I think it will last longer than the first fight though.

More head movement for Whyte if he does not want to suffer the same fate and look for the early knockout as well because if the fight prolong there's a chance that Povetkin could land that knockout punch again.

This rematch is beneficial to both of them as i think Povetkin is not a good match as of now to Anthony Joshua because of age and if Whyte could win the rematch then it could be a confidence booster for him to face AJ.

I will be betting again for Whyte but via knockout this time.
