Just as a note, i'm pulling out of this (so I make myself ineligible for payment), might leave the ad up for a little while though for free (because it contains my CoinChat ref link).

The address that I entered was not just a bunch of characters or a label it was a valid address that was created in bitcoin-qt "Addresses" tab using the "+New Address" button. I cut and paste this address into bitcoincz's account settings.
what I did not realize previously was that it appears bitcoin addresses do not seem to be able to be used to sending AND receiving, which seems strange to me.
I dont think the coins will have got sent to anyone elses wallet since the bitcoin address will not duplicated anywhere in the network..
In the addresses tab, that is basically a contact book - an example bitcoin address (albeit a vanity, usually it's ALL random characters) is the one in my signature. You can't have addresses such as "Alex". But 1Alex jhsdgfbdsuf if it's not already taken Bro, I could make you 1Alex for .01 BTC xD EDIT: No, I couldn't, but I can make you 1Lolz or whatever xD EDIT2: Wait, yes, I could

Bitcoin → Paypal
Maybe you might want to consider decreasing the minimum BTC amount until you get off of the ground?

I might be able to sell you 2 keys in a bit, will be PM'ing you shortly. I'm going to assume that you're buying them for ~ BTC .013 each, which is ~ BTC .026 total.

It is an address listed in "Addresses" in bitcoin-qt, I dont think it should be posted here, which actually says "These are your bitcoin addresses for sending payments", it doesnt say you can receive on it also..??
My account also does not show any transactions
Was it a name or a bunch of characters?

So I thought I had all this btc stuff sorted, created a wallet, created an address and started mining on bitcoincz, just got my email to say my first payout was sent...waited ~12 hrs and it has not appeared in my wallet..
I have been looking into it and it appears I used a BTC address to be used for sending payments, not an address for receiving payments. I created an address in the "Addresses" tab of bitcoin-qt incorrectly, should have been an address in the "receive" tab.
Is there any means I can recover the btc from the incorrect address or has it disappeared into the ether for ever?
Any assistance appreciated.
Mr Confused Newbie
Apo...
What was the bitcoin address you used, exactly?

The old thread seems to be out-dated, so I'm making a new one. It's basically just been re-worded.A common question that newbies will ask is: "Can I trust someone based on the amount of coins they have?", and the answer is that it is entirely up to you now. You are ranked based on a formula that looks at your posts over periods of time, so higher ranks such as Hero Members have usually used bitcointalk for at least a year while being active. While it doesn't guarantee they are fully trusted, it means they probably have some knowledge of Bitcoin and some trust in the community - if you have a lot to lose when trading, use an escrow service. The regular ranks that regular users can earn are: Brand New, Newbie, Jr. Member, Member, Full Member, Sr. Member, and Hero Member. There are also sub-ranks, which exist either to warn people of scammers or to show appreciation to someone who has donated to Bitcointalk. These are: Donator, VIP and SCAMMER. Donators and VIPs have access to a private forum, and are also able to change their user title. VIPs can also change their username. SCAMMERS have many restrictions, for example, they can not edit their posts. Last of all, there are staff ranks for official Bitcointalk moderators and administrators. These are: Staff, Moderator, Global Moderator, Administrator, and Founder. Staff members can delete, edit and move posts, and have access to a special staff board, as well as the Donator board. The activity number is determined using the following formula: time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration activity = min(time * 14, posts) Activity is updated automatically every 30 minutes. For instance, if I make 2 posts in one of the two-week periods, I will gain 2 activity. Rank | Description | Tag | Brand New: | 0 posts, gets 1 gold coin under their name. | | Newbie: | Has made 1 post less than 4 hours ago, gets 1 gold coin under their name. | | Jr. Member: | 1 post written over 4 hours ago, gets 1 gold coin under their name. | | Member: | Between 15-59 activity, and gets 2 gold coins under their name. | | Full Member: | Between 60-199 activity, and gets 3 gold coins under his name. | | Sr. Member: | Between 200-399 activity, and gets 4 gold coins under his name. | | Hero Member: | 400 or more activity, and gets 5 gold coins under his name.
| | Sub-Rank | Description | Tag | SCAMMER: | Manually applied by administration, regardless of post count and gets 5 red Xs under his name. | | Donator: | Manually applied by administration following a 10+ BTC donation, and gets 5 gold coins under his name of which the last is half green. 5 coins are shown regardless of post count when user is a Donator. | | VIP: | Manually applied by administration following a 50+ BTC donation, and gets 5 gold coins under his name of which the last is half purple. 5 coins are shown regardless of post count when user is a VIP.
| | | | Staff Rank | Description | Tag | Staff: | Shown when moderators (see next point) post outside of the sections that they moderate. Always shows 5 gold coins. | | Moderator: | Shown when moderators of specific sections post within those sections. Gets 5 gold coins, of which the last is shown as half faded-out green. | | Global Moderator: | Applied to more experienced Staff that are able to moderate all boards. Gets 5 gold coins, of which the last is half teal colored. | | Administrator: | Has all available permissions and can appoint moderators and perform other administrative tasks. Gets 5 gold coins, of which the last is shown half red regardless of post count. | | Founder: | Reserved for Satoshi, the creator of Bitcoin, and gets 5 platinum coins under his name. | |

What most likely happened was a kid had a small bit of BTC, nothing else really to his name. When entrusted with everyones BTC he went and gambled off the record to try and win more. Probably ended up losing it all then to continue "degen-ing" he scammed some people in the currency section. Hes now disappeared obviously.
Makes sense, though he was doing pretty well on here at least (with the bets he claimed), so it's a bit odd that he would throw it all away. I know for a fact more people would have invested in him, and the amount he could have made off this (just by taking, say 10% of profits) would be massive. And if he lost it all, it had no consequence for him. I would LOVE the chance to be in a situation where I can risk other people's money without any risk to myself, and still get paid a portion of any winnings I get. He was a scam artist. One of the reasons I held back and didn't invest. I was replying in a loan request and he jumped on and asked me. After a few searches I saw he asked a few people in the lending section. Yet, he criticised people when asking for coins. He's a fool. He could of made a lot more if he continued the way he was. Unless, he started to loose a lot of money. Then decided instead of risking it all and pissing people off because they invested in him. He would take all the money he could and run. Then start posting under a new account. I wouldn't be surprised if he has posted here under a alternative account. Just because we wouldn't expect it. Yeah, this could've been prevented so easily if people used their common sense >_< I nearly did fall for it. It was lucky that I investigated before going. Here have my monies. + xboxgames didn't have much posts or rep, he just had did a bit of betting - I don't know why people rushed to give him so much BTC.

Smh... He's gone, I'm surprised that so many people didn't see this coming >_< It started innocent, but when he starts accepting massive deposits to "help"? No, there's no way this is/could have been legit
