The problem is mostly the negative publicity associated with it IMO.. It's just an excuse for the media to talk bad about it because they are scared of it..

Great, just what bitcoin needs, more negative publicity... The force is strong with the media propaganda. Maybe they are trying to get everyone conditioned up nice for their "major crackdown on cryptocurrencies" stuff they been blabbin about..

The BTC is in that addy, it seems the seller sent it just fine. You will just have to wait for the wallet to finish downloading the blockchain..

Maybe your wallet isn't synched up to date with the blockchain for it to see it yet.

You could post your address or TX here so we can help you look it up on the blockchain or just find yourself a blockchain explorer to look it up yourself..

Altcoins are a great testbed for cryptocurrency technology to try out new things in order for crypto to evolve.

They are trying out hundreds of ways to do things and finding out good ways to do things and ways to definately not do things..

I would much rather them be experimenting on shitcoins rather than experimenting on Bitcoin itself..

Also some alts are good companions to BTC IMO for there strengths of faster block times and some have increased anonymity protections that some may see very useful.

I really believe this is something you can only learn by doing and never be taught. Just deposit a small amount on exchanges you would like to try out and trade with it, get used to the layout, figure out how everything works, and while learning you won't loose much because you have not risked much..

Don't risk much untill you are confident you know what you are doing.. Also places like polo have chatboxes and I find that many people in them are very willing to answer questions and help out a noob. Especially polo..
