Hihi this is a nice mess

Cosmic Beyonders gave also NoorulHuda merits, the guy who merited you for your post about Cosmic Beyonder possible alt.  Wink
And  NoorulHuda was banned for plagiarism.
But it doesn't stop here, CB also gave merit to a bounty manager, OneNuts, accused of promoting a bounty with a plagiarized whitepaper, and an alt of  MrCrank who got tagged for exactly the same issue a plagiarized whitepaper.

Anyhow this is a reputation thing, if anybody wants to dig deeper be my guest, this is nothing I would enjoy one a Saturday night.
3742  Other / Meta / Re: Creting a second account after ban without being caught. on: April 29, 2022, 07:33:58 PM
I don't want to go into details to give people ideas, but don't you think it would be very easy?
What happens is that it would cost you more work, if for example you have a Facebook account with a certain number of friends that serves you for the bounties, then you would have to start from 0 and create another new account and get friends.

It's not that easy to get those so-called legit friends, the ones asking for friendships over twitter or FB or any other social media network are themselves not looking like a legit account at all, all your relatives and your friends will block you pretty soon if they see you sporting 20 links to ICOs or Defi all day long.

What some of the smarter spammers do is grow multiple of those accounts so when something gets banned they can replace the whole identity but this comes with a problem, that's greed! When you have everything that is needed for an alt, why not start using it so you can double your income, and this is when you get tagged for having an alt, and all your backup fb/tw/yt accounts are linked and you have no other thing to do than trying to keep using these till you grow some others.

I don’t want to insult or generalize anyone, but most of those caught breaking the rules mostly come from the same countries where living by the rules and moral values are at pretty low levels. In other words, the way they behave in real life, they behave on the forum, with the difference that they think that the forum can be anonymous to the extent that no one will understand that they use alt accounts.

I don't think it's just about some countries and more like the how big of a chunk a certain social class is in some countries, on top of that the average money one could get with an easy job and the lack of other opportunities. It's an accumulation of factors, with the cherry on the cake being the fact that some countries are ravaged by a lot of crime, theft, etc etc things like plagiarism or having two accounts on some forum look like, are you serious?  Cheesy Sometimes I try and I think could understand somebody having a shock to hear copy-paste is getting him banned when going to his "workplace" he witnessed one shooting and two carjacks.
Not an excuse but probably moral values are influenced a lot by the value of your wallet.

3743  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Legal Tender in Panama on: April 29, 2022, 06:34:25 PM
Too bad we don't have anyone from Panama active here (I guess) to clear this out.

As always, we don't have anyone from Salvador, nobody from CAR, but I'm used to it, we didn't even have anyone to translate the CCB statements from Chinese back in the days. Probably this will be the indicator for the next country that does something big when it comes to Bitcoin, it will be a country with no subforum on bitcoinktalk  Grin

Back to the news itself:

Quote
Echandi: ~ We can’t force anyone to take a specific currency because we have monetary freedom established in the constitution.

So, we couldn’t even consider driving adoption in that manner. So, what’s the problem we’re trying to solve? First, we want people who deal with crypto to feel safe here, to provide a location that is open to the cutting edge of the internet. Second, if you’re creating a platform that is decentralized and taking custody of funds, the rules should be clear for you and they should be competitive. They should also mitigate the risks that normally exist with that. Third, if you’re doing something in the decentralized finance (DeFi) space, the rules should also be clear to you.

I love this, this is how things should be done.
Not declaring overnight every business needs to adopt this, not forcing merchants to accept it, not forgetting to tell them they will need a bank account to instantly convert those BTC is they want $ and they will have to use a bank or an atm to get the cash, and so on and on.
On top of that, not spending government money trying to boost popularity!

Bitcoin means freedom and bitcoin should not be imposed, if you're forcing this I see it just as an attack on freedom.
With this move you respect everyone's decision, if they want to use it they will use it if they don't they won't, it's just like how shops are allowed to operate and choose what they are willing to accept, it's either "no cash" or "no cc' or "no checks". Boosting all day long about buying the dips, giving away millions in airdrops, using a government centralized platform for this, issuing bonds for some city that will never be built, this is not about bitcoin usage and freedom those are politicians' publicity stunts.

One thing, we had three countries to date, none of them had actually their own free floating currency, interesting pattern.

LE:
And of course, the price keeps dropping, the first time I was checking it today and as usual, again down -2,74% last 24h, I'm starting to wonder if we might need some country to ban bitcoin in order for it to go up!
3744  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Increasing transparency for new asset listings on Coinbase on: April 29, 2022, 05:45:21 PM
This is going to reduce volatility a bit  , but now people will speculate about which assets are going to be listed in the consideration lists. Then, which will go from consideration to real listing.
There is no way to "stop" this volatility, neither the problems related to insider information.

It won't do much to volatility, they are just reducing the numbers of bets traders can take on coins that might be accepted, the ones left on that list will still attract a lot of, plus it will still be open to manipulation, imagine knowing with just 5 minutes in advance what Coinbase is going to post on this blog, not even mentioning how they themselves would take advantage of this.
It's just another episode of the "going to be listed on CMC" madness when every altcoin that managed to pay the fee to get listed there jumped in price immediately, then it switched to Binance listings and now Coinbase is a bit too late to the game.

True transparency would be to publish the criteria and the scoring before you take the decisions, so that traders know what to expect, not after!
3745  Economy / Economics / Re: Binance blocks crypto accounts of relatives tied to the Russian government on: April 29, 2022, 05:26:45 PM
Imagine being on a different country miles away from Russia but having relatives there and you suddenly see that your account has just been banned from binance. That'd be pretty infuriating

Oh common, before getting infuriated at least read the article!
It's not like the average Igor who has fled the country 30 years ago and still has some 7th-degree relative that has become a city council in Chekalin is going to have his funds seized.

Quote
According to the report, the affected persons included Elizaveta Peskova, the daughter of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, and Polina Kovaleva, the stepdaughter of foreign minister Sergei Lavrov. Binance said it had also blocked Kirill Malofeyev, the son of Konstantin Malofeyev, a Russian oligarch who was previously charged with violating sanctions from the United States.

Let's see
-daughter of Mordor's spokesperson
-stepdaughter of the foreign minister
-son of an oligarch with a net worth of billions

So while they threaten everything western and discuss how even if they nuke the whole world they will be the only ones going to heaven they still try to use foreign services. Why not stick to their own exchanges and their precious rubles?
3746  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAmWATCH] Decentralised Wallet Mining Pool Scam. on: April 29, 2022, 04:18:25 PM
Anyway some of the sites listed are no longer working so you did a good job here, maybe some of the sites got taken down. People reading here could also check from WHOIS data who the domain registrar is for these sites and report the same, who knows, maybe one or two gets taken down.

Unfortunately, it's not happening anymore with all registrars the rate at which the above was taken offline is quite extraordinary.

I've discussed this with some other users on a topic, everyone wondering why the domain name was still active and the overall consensus is that domain registrars aren't doing anything anymore about this. There are clear scams, obviously Ponzi schemes, with wrong and tock photos, even with identity theft and NameCheap for example is just silent about them. A few years ago they were quite active in suspending domains but nowadays the whole thing has changed, probably they are far happier with the $ than with the bad publicity. None of my reports in the last year had any effect so I reluctantly quit doing so.

From the list I see that there was one drop before expiration with whois history, that was as com domain from godaddy, probably they are paying more attention to the more used .com extension than to the other garbage.

I feel that there is also a communication gap in this forum. Users who usually hunt such airdrops and land up on such sites are usually regular in sections of the forum that do not include the "Scam Accusations" section which is a vital part of this forum. They usually come here after getting scammed. Undecided

Just as most people don't go for medical check-ups when they are still healthy but only when they can't stand on their feet without help.

3747  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin an angel in disguise also reasons to cry on: April 29, 2022, 03:58:44 PM
I don't understand why you say botcoin is the same as fiat in terms of store of value, I think I disagree with you because bitcoin is an anti-inflation currency while fiat keeps losing its value due to inflation.

Bitcoin is anti-inflation long-term per design this doesn't mean it will absolutely keep its value no matter what.
All the coins with a limited supply are just like that, does it mean every single coin out there will keep rising in value above the inflation rate, of course not! Moreover every single day there is nearly $40 million worth of fresh BTC that are entering the market, how do you call that?  Wink

Actually Bitcoin isn't helping someone financial e.g. poor become rich and vice versa, it's just a currency similar like you stored your wealth on fiat.

People really need to end this thing about how bitcoin will make you rich and how the poor will become at least middle class while the opposite happening to the bad rich guy we're having right now. The value of the coin will only go up if more money is entering bitcoin than what's pulled out of it, there is no way around it, and poor persons who have bout some 0.01 or 0.1 won't be able to unload those for $100k unless there is somebody with that amount ready to buy.

This whole redistribution myth that is happening because of bitcoin must end once and for all, it's tiresome.
3748  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Send cryptocurrencies through Telegram. on: April 29, 2022, 03:16:09 PM
Quote
To access the feature, users first need to opt in via Telegram’s official Wallet Bot, which allows them to purchase cryptocurrency by bank card, exchange and transfer to other wallets. According to the company, they can then send Bitcoin (BTC) or Toncoin to other users by clicking on the “Wallet” icon in direct messages.

So it's about sending Toncoins, or purchasing BTC through the app and then sending the BTC to the user wallet if one has a registered bitcoin address. I don't understand why would you use a bot to do so when you can send your BTC directly from your wallet to an address you agree with your partner., probably when it comes to BTC you're going to either have to pay a USD invoice for the exchange, basically buying BTC in your friends' name, or allow the app to have access to your wallet, which is;t the smartest thing to do in my opinion.

I can see the utility for a tipping feature when you just want to spend a small amount as you tip random users but no way I would use this to send larger sums to somebody.
3749  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New York State Assembly passes ban on new BTC mines that don't use green power on: April 29, 2022, 02:49:21 PM
According to coinshare report, bitcoin is only releasing 0.08% of the total carbon dioxide that human activities are releasing, that is a small amount.
https://coinshares.com/research/bitcoin-mining-network-2022

This is one of the best studies that can be done probably with the data at hand, there is indeed a bit of generalization but it does cover some points, I love especially the thing about the gear that is currently running. Too many just grab the latest model, the most efficient and they think it's the one dominant, if we could only find a way to insert a better breakdown rate for each unit it would be awesome but that as the author said it's probably a near-impossible task and when you finally have the results a year has already passed.

But the main problem with this study is that it was made during an enormous movement in mining, US-based companies are setting up mines in the tens of exahashes, from when the reports end it should have been 20 and a total of 60 exa by the end of the year only from public companies. Where those settled, probably is guesswork.

Another thing is that somehow everyone has shifted from total electricity to total energy, and this shows clearly that the old comparisons are not really good anymore, just like some articles that were once heavily quoted here are now forgotten.

3750  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Kraken has lowered Bitcoin Lightning withdrawal fee to ZERO on: April 29, 2022, 02:24:36 PM
That on-chain fee was just a way for some exchanges to munch some more $, even a single next block transaction wouldn't have cost that much, but with batching it would have been even lower.  Anyhow, pretty interesting move, can't wait to see a similar move from the two big "spammers", Coinbase and Binance, but in the latter's case I doubt they will do such a thing, they are using the fees as a motivation to have people use their shitty coin.

Segwit is more expensive...lol

Usually withdrawal fees are one of the most expensive services of exchanges.  By lowering to zero, they are making a huge incentive for people to create a lightning wallet.

If all of them would o so it would get rid of a lot of coins that are currently used just because of this fee thing, like Doge and Litecoin.

they still have low on-chain withdrawal fees which is about $19.40 or 0.0005 BTC compared to AVERAGE $18.20 or 0.0004691 BTC

It's 0.0005 BTC minimum, the fee is 0.00001 BTC, quite reasonable. Maybe they have changed is recently?

3751  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia suspends gas supplies to Poland and Bulgaria for failing to pay in rouble on: April 29, 2022, 12:32:34 PM
Do you have a complete map of the gas pipelines from Russia to the rest of European countries? I'm also curious about the potential impact of this to the political landscape in the region.

Here you go since nobody posted one:

Simply put all gas pipelines go through these countries Poland Ukraine and Turkey.
Moreover, if Bulgaria shuts down its pipelines there is no way for Serbia to get gas, there is no alternate route for them.
So this whole Russian cut the gases for countries is an empty threat, all that needs to be done if you still want to buy is "buy" it from  Germany as Russia will never cut gas to them nor it is able to stop Germany from reselling it.

As for the whole threat of paying in rubles or so, they've cave in pretty easy and early on:

Quote
A source familiar with the talks with the gas buyers who declined to be named said there was no clarity on how the scheme would be implemented, but work continued. Rouble payments are technically possible as sanctions are only partial, one banking executive with expertise in forex markets said. A Western buyer could pay euros or dollars to their bank, which would in turn send it to a Russian bank and ask them to pay Gazprom in roubles, he added.

So no, there won't be any European bank buying rubes, there will just be a Russian bank converting euros to rubles as before.

Yes it looks like many countries are starting to purchase Rubles because their currency pair is gaining a lot of traction. Wondering what Poland will do in the winter. I am assuming they are hoping this war is over by then and things will go back to normal.
However if it’s not over they will have no choice but to pay in Rubles. What other choice do they have. They got a reserve but it won’t last a long time. And in the cold winter they will have to comply to Russia’s demands because they don’t want their citizens to freeze.

Poland is getting its gas from Norway, they've announced from January before the war they will not purchase any Russian gas starting 2023, so n, nobody is going to freeze without Russian gas, just like all of us in Europe managed somehow to not freeze during the winters before there were any pipelines to Russia in the first place.
3752  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Legal Tender in Central African Republic on: April 29, 2022, 12:16:05 PM
Of course the CAR is roping every possibile corruption index worldwide, but I am just wondering how the IMF has spent all those dollars in that economy so far. Honest question.

The IMF gives you money in certain conditions when you're obviously so much in debt nobody else is taking the risks.
What they do with this money is their own issue, and is two years after you signed an agreement with a warlord another one comes into power then another and another probably none of the original points are still valid nor would the last one in this chain care about it anymore.

When people blame the FMI for doing this they forget one thing, the FMI usually is used by countries that are already in deep financial problems caused mainly by poor management and corruption, and are already shunned by most international banks and lenders, statistically what would be the chance for somebody in that situation to make a huge recovery after taking more debt and spending like there is no tomorrow?
Whenever I see somebody rebelling against what the FMI imposed it's mainly the same, the FMI asked to cut expenses and reduce government personnel, but none of them does this in order to protect their relatives and voters' well-paid jobs.

If IMF know the solution to the economic woes of Africa and refuse to help them solve the problem then its wickedness. If they know the solution then they should assist Africa in surmounting them. Rather they give them loans that ends up in the pockets of their associates, agents and cronies. The truth is that they make more money from countries like CAR through loans and lopsided contracts.

This is one of the myths I've heard from a lot of east europeans when they joined the EU.
The EU wants to keep us poor so they could sell us their stuff.
If you would have a business in your village what would you like the others to be, unemployed people able to spend only their social welfare checks or well-paid employees that could empty your shelf with one wage?

What ever happened to akon city and promises to create a techno futuristic place in africa resembling wakanda from the black panther movie. Need updates on that.

The bad news:

3753  Economy / Reputation / Re: roslinpl has changed hands? on: April 29, 2022, 11:54:49 AM
I think the answer is simpler than you all think.

The moment another account with red trust for scamming that has obviously changed hands comes to vouch for him rather than letting roslinpl clear his name as much as it's humanly possible in this situation it's the final nail in the coffin for that account.

You think Bitcointalk and its trust system are just as important to others as it is for all of you. Unfortunately it is not.

Loved this, probably you won't get "paid" for this, far more likely you're going to get a warning  Grin

Look at the shitposts he made today. Totally different from what the original owner would post
The English used alone is a dead giveaway.

Yeah, it's no way the old user would have written this, the style is the same as the garbage posted by others, we just had a thread about it if someone still doubts it:
Please have a look at this crap (1xBit).
Same short phrases, same obvious grammar mistakes, no way for somebody who once actually was a campaign manager at some point.

3754  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Stop Spaming and making Red Trust on Baseless Facts. on: April 28, 2022, 07:28:28 PM
I was going to ask what the hell is this title for but the first paragraph really cut my enthusiasm to find out what's happening here

I have joined Bitcointalk since 2020 start or 2019 End just for the Bounty work no any other reason just to make some Earning for myself

I appreciate honesty even in cases like this, at least the guy isn't hiding under false pretexts others do, users that claimed they were interested in the technology, in Bitcoin, and never posted outside the altcoin section. Unfortunately just as not knowing isn't an excuse for doing it, admitting it afterward won't solve a thing either.

Now since I'm in a better mood I'm going to give you some friendly advice, going over the top and attacking the members that have caught you cheating as well as other older members here won't solve a thing, and furthermore will just mean people will give you case more attention. If you would have just shut up maybe that would have been the end but the moment you opened this topic and I saw your name my instant thought was:
"Isn't this guy the one that got and sent back a lot of merits from NoorulHuda , who got banned a few days ago? "

Not a good idea, take it like a man and be done with it.

3755  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How a massive untapped source of energy could save the world. on: April 28, 2022, 07:11:56 PM
Prototype World Engine I - A simple disk
With a disk located at the equator and spinning on an axis that is always longitudinal,
the rotational axis of the disk will appear to flip 360 every 24 hours on a 2nd axis
which is always latitudinal. The first axis is not actually flipping though, it's just not
rotating with the Earth. The difference of motion creates a potential source of power.

This has to be one of the craziest ideas I've heard here, at least try to a normal gyroscope as the Russian tried twenty years ago but still failed.
There is a far easier to harvest energy that is generated somewhat by the same rotation with a little help from the moon, that is tidal waves, it would be far easier to create artificial estuaries for this rather than putting disks around the earth.

Quote
Gear Train and Generator
As the ring of disks rotates, it drives a series of 20 coaxial magnetic gears.  Each gear increases the rate of rotation of the one within it by a ratio of 1:1.995. Given that the ring only rotates once every 24 hours, 0.25 degrees per minute, the gear train increases that by nearly a million times to 249,343 degrees per minute or 692.6 rpm for the last gear. At the center of the gear train is a generator with a stationary armature and
mounting point.

Has already been tried, even with the theoretical gain the loss of energy incurred by the gears still gives a negative effect.

If built right, these gyros will last for millions of years and have zero impact on the environment.

Yeah because they will be made be of unrealizablium probably.
3756  Economy / Reputation / Re: roslinpl has changed hands? on: April 28, 2022, 06:47:03 PM
Indeed a bit fishy, but still might be excusable.
He wears the 1xbit signature code but he isn't on the spreadsheet nor has he applied on the topic but he did apply on cloudbet, for an older member even with the break he has taken the thing would have looked fishy with all the red tags. Anyhow he himself is still on a loan default despite all the positive trust for doing graphics, which is quite a different thing.

Anyhow, pretty easy to see if he has indeed changed hand, either a signed message or sees if he can still design stuff.

Even he know that he would get more tag due to joining the 1xbit campaign, which means he doesn't care about tags lately.

Yeah for him it's no big deal, he won't be able to get a loan anymore and for his business when you pay on delivery the red trust doesn't matter, he defaulted for $300 probably business wasn't great either.
3757  Economy / Economics / Re: Russian Gas ban - A problem for Europe or suicide for Russia? on: April 28, 2022, 06:25:38 PM
Panic buying is only part of the problem which also doesn't last that long. The main problem is relying on other countries for certain basic needs, namely Ukraine and Russia these days. For example wheat and some basic grains are mostly imported which leads to shortage of basic foods from flour, bread, cooking oil, etc. that are directly affected by the shortage all the way to livestocks that are indirectly affected and leads to dairy product and meat shortages namely beef and poultry.

The EU is both the largest exporter and producer of wheat in the world, France alone exports 2/5 of what Russia does.

Russia didn't export grain to Europe.
https://oec.world/en/profile/bilateral-product/wheat/reporter/rus
neither did Ukraine:
https://oec.world/en/profile/bilateral-product/wheat/reporter/ukr

Of but of course, you have better sources than the whole world for your data, as usual Grin

3758  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ATM Installed in Mexican Senate Building !!! on: April 28, 2022, 10:44:42 AM
Kempis, an ardent cryptocurrency proponent, believes that Bitcoin brings financial freedom and inclusion.
~
What do you think about this news..?

That another politician wants a piggy ride on bitcoin success to get herself a comfy seat

PRO-BITCOIN MEXICAN SENATOR PROPOSES CBDC LEGISLATION
https://bitcoinmagazine.com/markets/pro-bitcoin-mexican-senator-proposes-cbdc-legislation

Quote
Mexican Senator Indira Kempis recently introduced draft legislation amending the country’s Monetary Law to include currencies issued by the central bank.
Kempis outlines in repetition that intervention from the Mexican state is necessary to the success of the financial system of Mexico.
She also says that state intervention is “native” and “inevitable” for the citizenry of Mexico to possess human rights and for the development of society.

Now can somebody explain how would somebody who says this kind of stuff is a true bitcoins supporter?

Quote
“Regarding protocols, computers operating on the network, which record the transactions of road assets, must follow the emission rules in order to confine transactions, and those rules must be established in predetermined protocols,” the bill reads. “There is a possibility that new computers may be part of the network. However, it is not a necessary feature.”

So much for decentralization.

What do I think about this news? After being tricked by the announcement of Do Kwon which might only be hype and the news about the Central African Republic's acceptance of bitcoin which might come only from sauces, I am beginning to notice something. There might be some whales out there who want to hype bitcoin out of desperation. This is what I think about this news. I am back to being the skeptical me. Call me the antagonizer again.

The news is real. The motives behind it can be anything, bitcoin is no longer just coin that is used to avoid the 3rd party, alongside the other altcoins it has become a huge source of funds, and money always brings corruption and special interest that have nothing to do with the initial purpose.
But again, no matter what they try and how they try using bitcoin resources popularity, and userbase for their own political and monetary gain this doesn't change the basics for the normal bitcoin user, as long as the protocol stands intact it's a matter of choice.

3759  Other / Archival / Re: Why has bitcoin adoption failed in El Salvador? on: April 28, 2022, 10:25:18 AM
There are places in El Salvador where Bitcoin usage is quite popular, and in fact was already popular before it became legal tender. So to think it hasn't caught on at all is just wrong.

And can you name those places and have some numbers for this "usage"?
I know places that accept coins, and I know owners of businesses that do so, they all tell me the same story for the last 5 years, usage isn't there.
Talks about it, groups, chats, investments, buying and holding yeah, this is happening for sure, but spending, no!

I think those numbers all look pretty decent considering it's only been 7 months and most of that has been a price downturn. I bet those numbers will start popping up once Bitcoin is hitting new all time highs and El Salvadorians start to realize they could have had much more money if they had been taking and holding onto Bitcoin the whole time.

And you just invalidated your own point with this one, you just told all the people in Salvador to hold their coins instead of spending because they will be worth more next year.
How can you argue about daily usage when you say stuff like that?

Moreover, adoption would also increase nicely if supermarkets networks and other important stores where you can find basic goods for daily life gave discounts for people when paying with bitcoin.

Oh yeah, using somebody's else money in order to promote something to make other people rich.
I think I read this somewhere in Satohis's whitepaper but can't remember where, mind pointing it out?
3760  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Legal Tender in Central African Republic on: April 28, 2022, 10:12:09 AM
It's a country with a solid multi-million population, and it's not an adoption in a special economic zone or by a particular region, which is very cool.

Multi-million but, half of the GDP of Maderia, there I could see at least tourist spending coins, it could be the same thing for Salvador which still has 10x the GDP but in CAR, I have no clue who will actually use it as a legal tender and not as an investment.

I’m still not convinced of the authenticity of neither of the documents seen here so far. They are indeed being echoed by the media, but trying to find an official source to either is a chimera, and I kind of end-up on someone’s Twitter as a source behind articles here and there, which is not what we’d like to see.

I think it's about time for you to be wrong about these Grin
I mean lately, you have proven a bit too much news to be fake or exaggeration, we need something to be real for once, it was getting really annoying with all those big news proven to be nothing the other day. So despite thinking the same as you two days ago and being suspicious right now I'm cheering for fillippone on this.
