Id love to see a tournament that caters to Australian Time Zones ( GMT +8 ). Freef rolls and the 1/2 hour are good for now though Ideal time for you would be Aus evening? That'd probably work for us late-night Pacific-Coasters too!

FWIW, I just voted "no".
How very astute and foretelling of you.

Moores law man (kinda). At some point ASIC will become the "new" GPU and it will have to be upgraded or completely changed at some point. Will it destroy bitcoin? That was just a title to entice readers. It will only strengthen competition for miners which can only be good right? And what can be wrong with strengthening the power of the miners? It will only make it more difficult for a 51% attack.
you don't use ASICs for gaming how will it strengthen competition for miners? strengthen competition amongst the 2% that are left? who cares about a 51% attack when nobody cares about bitcoins anymore? surely i'm not the only one that solely became interested because I could use my existing equipment to procure my 'own' bitcoins i wouldn't have thought twice about it had it required some POS that was useless otherwise. ed: (and why in the hell would more people have ASICs than GPUs, making a "51% attack" less likely? since when does total hash power figure in here, rather than # of players?) If the only reason you like Bitcoin is because you could make money from mining, then it's not much of a loss when you leave. haha, that's not what I said. do you think grocery stores leave out those free samples to feed the starving ppls? what if you had to pay $100 to get a key to gain access to these (not so) free little pieces of diced cheese and what not? would you ever sample the product? i doubt it Then work on giving out samples. Don't QQ because the average joe won't be able to mine profitably anymore without buying specialized hardware. If someone really wants to try out Bitcoins, there are plenty of free faucets and such that give out Bitcoins. Or they could, you know, always go and buy some.

But on that note, wouldn't it be interesting if someone devised a forum where you have to had 1 BTC for every post you made? You wouldn't have to send it to anyone, just prove that you had it, either by sending a particular token amount of BTC from that address (i.e. 0.0004857), or by signing a message with the private key associated with it. Then, if your post count is 10, and you only have 10 BTC at that address, you can't make another post until you put more BTC into that address.
I wonder if the quality of posts would rise if such a system were implemented?
So you would have to delete posts in order to cash out? No, posts could stay even if you wanted to cash out, you'd just have to make sure to fund the account again if you wanted to make any new ones.

1 Bitcoin will always be 1 Bitcoin. That's stable enough for me.
+1 Its not bitcoin thats unstable its fiat. I only ever buy bitcoin and cash it out for bitcoin services not go back to the steaming pile that is government fiat. Well now, that's just simply not true. 2 years ago, I could've bought a pizza for 40,000 BTC. Today, it only costs me a couple. Please show a comparable comparison of dollar value that shows more volatility.

BitMinter client v1.3.0beta2 is ready for testing. News since beta1: - Improved automatic timer tuning and hash rate detection for Icarus FPGAs.
- Improved FPGA error handling, should fix lockup that could happen with beta1.
- Fix bug introduced in beta1, crash when unplugging FPGA while mining.
- Bugfix: detect CPU model on Raspberry Pi, and hopefully other ARM systems.
- Only scan USB ttys on Linux - prevents many error messages about ttySxx.
- Bugfix on Linux: devices detected by a full probe and devices added
through probing a specified port were named differently and it was possible to add the same device twice. - Sort devices alphabetically when dynamically adding external devices
to device display. - Default to compact display for anything but the bottom "total" display.
- Do not start CPU when clicking "total" display's start button for the first
time after starting the program, unless it is the only device. Would previously start all visible (non-hidden) devices. - Added X-Mining-Hashrate HTTP header to report hash rate to server.
- Staggered start of devices when multiple devices are started with the button
on the status line or the "total" display's start button. Should give a smoother start up of (multiple) BFL minirigs. - When going to performance mode remember the old window size and restore it
when going back to detailed mode.
Please check it out: I impressed an intrigued with the ease of this software - Will it work with BFL singles - I am starting up a mining operation and I am looking for the right pool to join - I want one that requires very little maintenance and will work steadily. I am not interested in getting the last 3% efficiency out of my hardware, only that it is easy to setup and works reliably and non-stop Should be perfect for you then. I was looking for a similar setup. Didn't want to mess with configuring a batch file to work with 10 singles, so I just started up BitMinter and it worked perfect. Granted, I sold all 10 singles since then, but it is a solid piece of software, and I'm still using it for mining on a couple of GPU's.

I cannot believe that Butterfly Labs at this moment not mining for themselves with one of those devices..... I think we will see the coming months an increase of the overall hash rate of the network... EDIT: Each sold device, must also be tested.... So why not test on the real bitcoin network Why do you think there is such a high "unknown" right now??? http://bitcoincharts.com/Probably because deepbit isn't listed anywhere on that chart.

I think the question refers to the ballpark of $7.2. We'd have to hit a 24 hr VWAP of $7.3 for it to be a definite 'no'
Meh, fine. :p

Jody confirmed that I am in the June 23 "day" for my order converstion of 4 regular singles to 2 SC singles. No official order number given.

I received half a million by accident, can I get a bonus as well? It's good that BTC-e confirmed it, otherwise I would have not believed it. Everybody can make a convincing screenshot. Your screenshot isn't very convincing. If +540,000 USD was your last transaction, why don't you have at least 540,000 USD current balance?

There's literally nothing stopping us from going to $8 now. Except the giant hidden funds of manipulators of various sizes.. none of whom individually are larger than the Market that wants to go HIGHER. Unless they are.

We have most definitely broken through the $7.00 barrier.

|

none of your business

Few more days it will be at $7.. then a couple weeks.. $8
I'm pretty sure that once 7.2 is down 8 will be just around the corner. I'm pretty sure everyone's said the same thing about $5.00, $5.20, $5.50, $6.00, $6.20, and $6.50. All we've seen is a slow, steady rise. I see no immediate reason for that to change just because we hit $7.20, or any other arbitrary number.
