3761  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Soft Language: Tautological Replacements on: January 05, 2019, 07:27:00 PM
The idea of PC/soft language is ridiculous. Carlin did a piece on it that you can watch.

All that you're doing by calling retards mentally handicapped is creating a tautology: it doesn't change the definition. If the intention is malicious, there is no intrinsic difference. It's the same thing as calling someone an unmarried man as opposed to a bachelor.

The use of this kind of language is obfuscation. It's akin to tautologies when dealing with news about war. Silly. Propaganda.

Why confuse people to "avoid negativity" when you're still discussing the same thing?

Sure you can ridicule factually the grammar, but that's missing the point.

The point is that certain people seek to gain power over others by creating positions where they can dictate proper speech.

It's all about the power.

....

"welfare spending is an investment with vast asset returns"

HAHAHA I would LOOOOVE to see you try to find the math on that one.....

It's a long standing argument of US Democrats that their spending on social programs is "investment." And they literally have a fifty year history of avoiding accountability on it. It's always "This time it will be different."

One reason they hate Trump so much is he called them on that lie during his campaign, and promised to actually do things to help the inner city ghettos.

Another thing I find interesting is the way their "solutions" always expand the non-productive social service classes of college educated idiots. Notice how this guy's "solution" involved hiring lots of social workers?

29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” >>

I've noted this previously, in response to those fools who look for religious "miracles."

the Bible itself and your very quotes from it strongly suggests that belief cannot be based on facts and evidence.

Accordingly all those religious arguing foolishly about scientific evidence for good should immediately shut the fuck up.
3764  Other / Politics & Society / Re: NPR's Border Fact Check on: January 05, 2019, 02:30:30 PM

... The more difficult it becomes to get here, the more money people will give to criminals to smuggle them in. The wall will be great business for tunnel building cartels and smuggling coyotes. This will exacerbate all of the border problems you have spoken of.
....

It's ridiculously easy to use sensors to locate and image tunnels. Ground penetrating radar and acoustic methods come to mind.

Cartels will not get around the wall with tunnels.
3765  Other / Politics & Society / Re: A world without borders? on: January 05, 2019, 02:22:13 PM
Let's think for a second.
Would such a world benefit mankind? Would it destabilize the current geo-economics? Is there even a remote possibility that we as humans let go of this ancient tradition of drawing lines on sand that have only served to create problems among masses and has done NOTHING good so far?

In an ideal world borders are just imaginary lines but we don't live in an idealistic world. Would you be willing to forgo the borders of your personal property and land? Everyone is free to use it as they please. ....

Do we get to use not just other peoples' property and land, but their bodies as well?
3766  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Athiest are the ultimate free thinker? on: January 05, 2019, 02:20:26 PM
For athiest there is no God ,everthing is creation or the existance with cause and effect. We create our own heaven or  hell, not in hereafter ,but on earth,in our lifetime by the compassion we give our fellow beings and which we receive in return.
His thinking is free from all the prejudices and fear created by the flagbearers of different religions fundamentalists and not influenced by any relgion and beyond its restrictions. His only holy sacrament is compassion because he recognizes that the individual life is precious to him and accord the same value to the life of all other beings including beings who opposes our religions and political belief. Do you agree?

No. You've just created a total fake stereotype.

In reality, athiests are as varied as people are. Some for example would laugh at your arguments, and a very few would agree.

Some are full of hate and bigotry.

Very few have an open mind.

No ,Most of the people live in the shackles of old aged traditions and conventions , does not bother about their deep rooted logics and their utilities in modern era ,whether these logics are having any
relevance today ,Athiest atleast comeover these and give proper thinking and their arguments are  helpful in the growth of the society.

I truly do not think that you can support these assertions with logic and reason.

Note that I'm not arguing against your hypothesized Meritorious Position, just against your imputing heroic and honorable natures to the personalities of those holding the Meritorious Position.
3767  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why I'm an atheist on: January 05, 2019, 03:55:55 AM
....

I am claiming that we are not able to see 100% of reality, therefore we can not say that God does not exist.

This is the classical example of a logical error called the "Irrefutable hypothesis."

As such it is not an ANSWER, but is the PROBLEM.

An assertion resulting in conclusions necessarily based on logical errors is a flawed assertion, or the premises it is based on are flawed.

3769  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Poll: Is the creation of artificial superinteligence dangerous? on: January 05, 2019, 02:10:10 AM
We won't ever have a human level AI.

Once they have a general intelligence similar to ours, they will be much ahead of humans, because they function very close to the speed of light while humans' brains have a speed of less than 500km per hour.

And they will be able to do calculations at a much higher rate than us.

Really?

Speed of computation is related to level of intelligence?

No.

Intelligence is easiest thought of as the ability to understand things that people of lower intelligence cannot understand. EVER.

This is really pretty simple. There are many subjects in advanced math that many people will never understand. I am not going to say "You" or "You or I" because I don't have a clue what you might or might not understand.

One example of this that many people have heard of is "p or np."

In my opinion, another is general relativity.

I am not talking here about the popular "buzz" on the subject, but the exact subject.

I hope you didnt donate money to the sauds to finance their war in jemen and syria too  Shocked

Really it's more like I don't care. At all, if different sects of Islam butcher each other.

What's wrong here (and you know it) is that this particular butchering was too much out in the open.

Beyond that it appears to be political maneuvering and grandstanding with an obvious goal.

IRAN TURKEY VICTIMS!!!

SAUDIS BAD!!!!

A wall creates more danger?....

By his own logic The Wall will prevent the illegals from heading into the dangerous areas, so it must be erected for their own benefit. Then the deaths will stop. And that's a good thing.

How did you determine they are the real miracles?

Bitcoin.

* Women work fewer hours, shorter shifts, less dangerous jobs, and take lots of time off because they are socially conditioned to do it......

Bullshit. "Social conditioning" is a catch all argument for anything you can't disprove based on facts.

Walk through a university campus, you'll see the girls with the psychology textbooks and the guys, at least some of them, with the engineering textbooks.

That's not even counting the many fake and worthless degrees in Women's Studies and similar garbage.

From that point forward into the real world, they're going to make less money. And they deserve to make less with a degree in psychology than engineering. Way less.
3775  Other / Politics & Society / Re: A world without borders? on: January 03, 2019, 11:12:54 PM
Just because there are free borders doesn't mean everyone wants to move, for example the EU has freedom of movement and while there is large scale immigration that is not the same as mass movements of people.  Mostly people stay in the area they were born / country of birth.

I sure don't hear anyone complaining they'd like to see an open border into North Korea, Venezuela or Cuba.

Odd, isn't it? The Communists really just want to dictate the location and direction of the borders they want opened.

The world never had borders to begin with.  Its just a construct applied to oppress the poor.  I have been all over the world and no one has ever turned me away at a border.  Crossing a border has never even been something that caused me trouble.  It wasn't designed to be applied to us with privilege. Borders exist.

SpaceX new baptized Starship (former BFR) seems to be advancing even ahead of schedule:

https://www.businessinsider.com/spacex-big-falcon-rocket-spaceship-hopper-vehicle-launches-2018-12?op=1
"SpaceX is building a 'test hopper' Mars spaceship in Texas — and Elon Musk says it could launch by March"

Bah.

I realized yesterday that it will be the Moon, not Mars, that is first colonized. The Moon is lacking in some elements which makes it harder, but it has massive solar energy power source.

The reason is quite simple. There is no viable business model for Mars; there is one for the Moon, and that would be 3 week vacations.

It is starting to come out that Khashoggi may not have even been a journalist... while this doesn't justify any of this it certainly puts the situation in a much different context.

Frankly I am surprised that anyone was duped into any other context.

But yeah, we don't want pretend-civilized guys like the Saudis killing in the mode of ISIS.

They do need to pretend to be proper when dealing with the pretend journalists.

Well personally I figured he was a spy acting as a journalist, but apparently he never even had a job at the place he supposedly worked at so ...
The whole narrative that he was killed to hold down the press is a totally false narrative now on any level of perception.

Which gets to the interesting point, that there REALLY IS A STORY HERE, but it's not what the mainstream media is pushing as the story.

The story is the behind-scenes motives of the mainstream media in presenting facts here as "Saudi Evil" because, obviously then "Turkey Good" and "Iran Good."

Someone living over there with intimate knowledge feel free to correct me.

Crypto-coins should be declared as Assets and Rights, using modality 99 - Other assets and rights. In the case of discrimination, please state the amount of Crypto-Coins you own, the amount in reais at the time of purchase or sale, the exchange you used for this transaction, and the company's CNPJ.

Nothing you are presenting is based in reality, and your feelings take precedence over facts you are presented.

Some of the most desolate places maybe in the whole world, excepting Antarctica, are along the US/Mexican border. Child care workers at those remote outposts?

What a frikking bunch of crazed talk. But its all in line with Alinsky's method of overwhelming social services in the targeted country, so this butt hole of a poster can complain all he wants but it's all in line with his attempts to overthrow existing systems.

I don't think he really cares about these people one bit.
