Looking at the spec sheet ( http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/precn/en/dell_precision_t5500_specsheet.pdf ) I read: two PCIe x16 Gen 2 graphics slots up to 150W each. Considering that GTX 1060 is rated @120W I was wondering if I could connect two GTX1060 straight into their slots without using additional power connectors that would be available for additional cards (a third one could be connected to the first PCIe slot with any riser; a second one could be connected to the PCIe slot between the two GPU slots if I could find a very very flat riser cable). no matter how much a pcie slot can deliver if a card has a PEG connector it will need to be plugged in. the way cards are designed it powers different parts of the card with the pcie and peg connector.

Simple stupid question (because my brain went to bed hours ago and I can't find the answer)
Does it work on a 2 gig rx460 anymore ? I can't write the dag file (31 and 60) which made me think 2 gig isn't enough ram on the card
This is with 16 gig of system ram and a 16 gig pagefile.
eth mining on 2 gb cards is no more. dag is too big.

still running my original core wallet from june 2011.
just checked my 1st transaction.. 0.35 btc from slush on june 16, 2011.
that was with mining with my HD4850. it was more of an experiment than a money making endeavor or to be part of the crypto scene. more like to see maybe i can help finance a new video card if this one makes money.
used slush as my 1st pool as they had the best instructions on how to setup a miner.
anyone else care to share their 1st incoming transaction and where it was from?

with all the poloniex drama of late i pulled my coins out. might have to toss one back for lending and see how it goes.
never had problems with polo in the past couple years but as they say "past performance does not guarantee future performance.."

Dammit, where is he posting now?
steemit (iamnotback) github (Shelby3)
|
|
|
He keeps getting banned. I don't know why, sure he is contentious, but "this is America" (smile), and SHOULD be allowed to say his piece.
A little birdie tells me he is recuperating and working on his big project.
Do you know where can I get to him? he is on steemit ( iamnotback anonymint) and github (Shelby3)

When i installed Windows on the GO, it said it was installing Windows Enterprise edition and that 32GB was the minimal size USB drive needed, but the actual install size on the USB drive is only 22.1GB. I am going to leave this in my mining rig running for the next few days to make sure its stable running it this way.. i did notice a small drop in wattage running the usb drive over the mechanical hd also...
forget about 32 gig drives for windows. my wife grabbed a win10 netbook a while back with a 32 gig ssd. ran ok for a while till the last win10 update. came up with an "out of space" error and would not update. wound up compressing the whole drive to get room. and it has a sd card for most programs/data so the only thing on the ssd is windows and thunderbird. and i run ccleaner religiously. 32 gigs is just too small. get a 64 gig drive for windows.

the rx560 is not the exact same hardware as the vanilla 460. It has the full polaris 11 chip (1024 cores). How much it increases the hashrate, I dont know.
460s can also be unlocked to get the full 1024 cores. havent tried with my visiontek 460 yet but ill give it a shot soon, as well as strap it. gets 12 mhs in eth at the moment, be nice to pull 14s with it.

|
22.5MH/s? That's pretty lame. RX 470 could have 30MH/s.
Only if it's an 8gb version. strapped 4 gb 470s can easily hit 28/29 mhs

FYI, dont make the same mistake as me.. dont use older gen XEON processors with mining, my my E5506 cpu in my latest mining rig is consuming 73 watts while running the mining software
yeah. i am switching to "t" suffix processors in miners now. like i5 6400t. "t" is the low power version of the processor, 35 watts vs 65 watts tdp. considering most miner cpus run at near idle the power draw is even lower.

The recent ransomware has made positive as well negative impacts over the entire world. In the form of positive outcome the bitcoin is known more and some has started to experiment it. In the other way people have fixed that bitcoin is the one that has got negative part higher than positive.
the only positive from this is that more people are aware of how important updates and patches to your OS are. not to mention regular offline/offsite backups. the fact that bitcoin was specified as payment was largely ignored, generally it was only mentioned in passing.

the ancient art of grave robbing will make a huge comeback.

So using Linux or Ubuntu Helps?
it helps as most malware targets windows. with windows best practice is up to date patches, good firewall good antivirus and good internet hygiene. *nix/apple is not 100 % immune though.

looks like it could be an ugly setup.. power cables from each window to a central inverter or battery bank. or an inverter at each window maybe that you plug things into. iow cables everywhere.

If you desperately want to use SD Cards or USB drives/flash drives go out and by three high quality ones The smartest thing i have heard today. I recommend the same approach, but instead of flash drive can be used quality CD+R disk. You can add information to it, with no afraid to erase previous session. How long will a CR+R disk last compared to a flashdrive? archive quality cds: http://www.verbatim.com/subcat/optical-media/cd/archival-grade-gold-cd-r/

Just disconnected and cleaned (air) the motherboard and connected the PSU to the motherboard. I got back in the bios! Changed the bios a bit (disable sound) And when rebooting, I get the same problem!!!
reset the bios to "default" try using only one memory stick, try each one in various slots. run memtest86+ to find any bad sticks. try to boot a live image *nix like ubuntu from usb/cd with the bare minimum hooked up. however, im afraid your mobo may of been damaged by the surge.

Back in the day some bagholders were bragging about mortgaging their homes and plundering their retirement accounts to invest into hashlets. Not sure how real that was, but it sounds plausible given that BTCJam was full of loans for hashlets.
i remember people saying they had maxed out all their credit cards and borrowed money for this stuff. the gaw trail of destruction is long indeed.

[...] a molex and the molex allows 3 power choices been a while since I did that but I think the correct wiring to a molex will yield 9 volts which should still let that fan pull tons of air.
by splicing into a molex you can do 12v, 5v, and 7v. the 7v is by splicing into the 12 and 5v lines (12-5=7).
