3781  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: May 17, 2013, 05:07:37 AM
dude friedcat is the man, every time I see him update us I grow more faith in asicminer, he seems like one of the greatest bitcoin economy ceo's.  I am sure we will see allot of bad ones in other companies that will try and destroy bitcoin because of greed, I think friedcat may be the guy that saves the bitcoin world.  Thanks for all the work you do friedcat!

Friedcat has been pretty rock solid the more I look into AM. Really impressed. Just picked up a bunch of ASICMINER-PT on btct.co. Exciting stuff.

Can't wait to see the Sapphire sticks from the US group order !
3782  Economy / Securities / Re: Help me understand ASICMINER-PT from btct.co on: May 17, 2013, 04:39:00 AM
Thanks for this thread ! Just opened an account and moved 50 BTC to btct.co to buy some ASICMINER-PT. Wish I had the foresight to get involved with this sooner. Better late than never I suppose...

So Xian what would you do?
Take an FCC non-compliant rig or compliant rig?

Hey, don't get me wrong. If it works, has been put through it's paces, I'd be silly not to use it. Just expressing concern that selling an FCC non-compliant product may not be entirely legally kosher and we may have some potential problems in the future.
3784  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Forced "On Hold For Refund" for all my Single SC orders on: May 17, 2013, 03:05:15 AM
Friendly Reminder That Butterfly Labs Has No FCC Certification For Any Of Their Products, A Fact You Should Try Taking Up With The FCC

Who cares about FCC?

The United States Government sort of cares about it if it's going to be sold in the United States.
3785  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Forced "On Hold For Refund" for all my Single SC orders on: May 17, 2013, 02:34:03 AM
I see that I am stating an opinion that BFL is not a fraud, because they have shipped out these units to specific recipients most likely to give BFL positive press. It is a stretch and disingenuous to state I am outright calling them a scam or fraud. Quite the contrary in fact.

You got it!
BFL has to find some way to prove they aren't a fraud with ASICs, considering they have yet to ship anything in quantity for almost a year now since taking preorder money...
3786  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Forced "On Hold For Refund" for all my Single SC orders on: May 17, 2013, 02:23:42 AM
Anyone notice that in wrenchmonkeys twisted reality, the COO never taunted him at all?
This should be sent to your local psychologist for study and possible review.

3787  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Forced "On Hold For Refund" for all my Single SC orders on: May 17, 2013, 02:09:40 AM
Really? Because a LOT of your posts bring up Sonny being a "felon" over and over. One of your posts outright stated that they still need to prove that they're not a scam. So again, if you didn't believe that they were a scam, you sure did put a lot of effort into making it appear that you did

Is Sonny Chris Vleisides not a felon ? Again, if I am in error with those facts, I'll be the first to stick my foot in my mouth and apologize. Am I an asshole for raising that point ? Probably. Slow-burn frustration has a way of making one exceptionally bitter on a long enough timeline when money has been put up in good-faith.

Please point out the post where I state they still need to prove they are not a scam. That does not sound like something I would say, considering I don't believe they are a scam and already own one of their products. Shady ? Sure. A scam ? Verifiably not, so far.
3788  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Forced "On Hold For Refund" for all my Single SC orders on: May 17, 2013, 01:56:09 AM
I don't know the dates, but he stated that he went back and placed additional orders a few pages back. If that's not accurate, address it with him. He's the one who brought it up.

Two orders in June 2012 (1 upgrade from my current BFL FPGA). Another two orders on April 4th 2013.
3789  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Forced "On Hold For Refund" for all my Single SC orders on: May 17, 2013, 01:53:40 AM
If you believed that you were dealing with scammers, you wouldn't have placed more orders, nor would you have refused to request a refund. THAT is the epitome of hypocrisy.

To be absolutely clear, I never implied, nor did I ever believe Butterfly Labs were a scam. I'm currently running one of their FPGA Singles. It's not hypocrisy if you believe they will ship product, but express displeasure with the process on this ASIC project thus far, and hope that they might be more forthcoming or accurate with assessments of the project development at this stage.

Just because I don't like the way something is handled, doesn't mean I don't like the product.

Heck, I'm dying to buy an updated Mac Pro. Am I pissed at Apple for dropping the ball on that product-line ? Fuck yes. Do I post bitterness and frustration on Apple forums ? Heck yes. Am I going to buy an updated Mac Pro when (if?) they finally come out ? You betcha. Do you see Tim Cook making a note to Apple sales saying "Lets blacklist that Xian01 guy from ever buying our products again, and refund him for all his software and iTunes purchases up until now" I can't ever imagine something like that happening with a respectable company.
3790  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Forced "On Hold For Refund" for all my Single SC orders on: May 17, 2013, 01:40:02 AM
and they know that, but when he came crying to the forum this last time, he was exposed for being a troll. Anybody reading his posts now will do so with the benefit of the knowledge that he was a hypocrite troll, who was saying one thing while doing another the whole time; and that his posts from here on out are pretty much sour grapes over finally being cut off.

Excuse me, but this is an unfair assessment of the situation. A hypocrite ? How do you figure ? Because I had pre-orders, and I'm expressing my displeasure with the state of the project ? That makes me a hypocrite troll for holding my pre-orders ? I don't see the correlation.

That is just a piss-poor outlook, and very passive/submissive attitude to have on your part. I'm glad that your tolerance for bullshit is way higher than mine. Lets hope you you receive your orders and not become as bitter as I have with Butterfly Labs.

It would be easier if I could somehow be imbued with the superpower of infinite patience. Alas, circumstances became such that I took my frustrations a bit too far.

I'm fine taking my lumps by receiving a refund. It's probably best for both parties at this point.

Lessons learned and so on and so forth.
3791  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Block Erupter USB on: May 17, 2013, 01:29:57 AM
For $400 you can get a 7970 that can easily get 600mh/s with a lot of power drain.

That's where it gets a bit more difficult to figure out. A 7970 will do at least 680MH/s overclocked for ~$400. Don't know the wattage off the top of my head.

 Two Erupter USB's will pull a bit north of 600MH/s @ < 1W ?

I'm not good enough with stats and math to figure out efficiency of a 7970 vs 2x Erupters, but I'm guessing the 2x Erupters will ROI faster than a single 7970 if you take electrical costs into consideration.
3792  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Block Erupter USB on: May 17, 2013, 01:23:04 AM
These things are not very profitable compared to a normal video card. The ROI on a video card is normally 2 months.

If you factor in electrical costs, it's more-than-likely a wash. I agree they are a little bit on the pricey side, but not egregiously so considering this is a first gen device.
3793  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Forced "On Hold For Refund" for all my Single SC orders on: May 17, 2013, 01:12:59 AM
The only purpose to canceling his order is to punish him which will silence unhappy customers and help obscure their failures.

... and this is what just blows my mind. By canceling my orders, they have done the exact opposite of silencing me Sad

It just doesn't make any logical sense. They have left me incensed. As Val Kilmer once said, "It's a moral imperative" now.
3794  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Block Erupter USB on: May 17, 2013, 12:57:08 AM
ASICMiner uses quad-flat no-leads (QFN) packages, so there is a metal plate on the bottom.  Heat dissipates through openings to the other side, hence the heatsinks being on the bottom.

*makes motions of things going over his head*

I'll need to look into QFN on teh Googles. Interesting stuff. Thanks.
3795  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Forced "On Hold For Refund" for all my Single SC orders on: May 17, 2013, 12:52:39 AM
Cool Backpedaling didn't work.
9) Accept fate, send refund account information late in day (probably not too long before closing time).
11) Cry to AG office

8. If asking for clarification of libel, slander, or other false statements, then I'm guilty of backpedaling or deleting a couple particularly vicious jabs
9. Granted. Lets see how tomorrow plays out. Sending money via Paypal is pretty trivial and it should stand to reason they have a funded account - If they were a well-oiled machine.
11. Wouldn't you after having been bent over for 11 months ? I've been on this planet for a while, been involved in a few lawsuits, have seen some things and stuff, but I've never, EVER, come near to a customer experience like this.

This is just not how a normal company conducts business. Certainly not any tech company I have ever conducted business with.

3796  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Forced "On Hold For Refund" for all my Single SC orders on: May 17, 2013, 12:34:00 AM
He didn't cancel, which indicates that he didn't believe what he was saying, and instead was just being malicious.

1) Pre-order product
2) Get taunted by COO of BFL on Forums. Made to endure one broken promise after another. No shipping date in sight after 11 months of waiting.
3) Call him on his bullshit
4) Repeatedly
5) COO punitively cancels orders from butt-hurt
6) Makes sure pre-order customer also is made to feel butt-hurt - awaiting refund in paypal account

Is this an accurate assessment of the situation ?
3797  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: May 17, 2013, 12:02:53 AM
this guy only has 38 posts and he don't accept escrow or paypal. Be careful that is my warning ...

Indeed this is a slight red flag, but to their credit, they have not asked for funds yet. Will be looking at this project with great interest, and will throw fist-fulls of cash at them if something materializes.
3798  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Block Erupter USB on: May 16, 2013, 11:57:04 PM
Hmm, if the asic chip is on the top of the PCB, and the heatsink is on the bottom, what is it sinking? and why is there no pictures of that side?

I was thinking that myself... "Wouldn't you want the heatsink on the top of the plug to radiate heat up instead of through the PCB ?"

 *shrugs*
3799  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Forced "On Hold For Refund" for all my Single SC orders on: May 16, 2013, 11:48:46 PM
If you really believed that, why did you keep an order with them this long? Sour grapes much?

I obviously kept the order for this long because I am clearly delusional. It's the only honest answer I can give you. It should be evident that I am way beyond sour grapes and flirting with full-on gourmet vinegar.
3800  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Forced "On Hold For Refund" for all my Single SC orders on: May 16, 2013, 11:39:57 PM
Either way, there's a lesson to be learned here. Chose to learn it, or chose to...

Is the lesson learned here that if I wanted ~240GH/s of ASIC SHA256 processors, I should have gone with anyone but Butterfly Labs ?
