I think if it's really needed to expose someone's identity if they are believed to be a potential scammer, then it should be done in PMs with moderators of the forum or as you said with authorities and not in a public place like this where everyone can see everything. Because yeah, innocent until proven guilty, and the psychological trauma one might face if they are innocent but become victims of some ill-minded people will be disaster.
Exposing someone via PMs is doxing too, the only exception to this rule is that disclosure of information to authorities. Mods can't solve the issue even if you expose them through PMs. Imagine if you doxxed someone and you are entirely wrong, the individual will suffer because of accusations. It came from your mouth, innocent until proven guilty. There shouldn't be a selective justice, innocent and accused alike should be treated with the same respect when it comes to privacy.
3782  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Expose] Double-tron.com Tron hype project on: October 04, 2020, 08:58:52 AM
  • Red Flag 1: No possible way to contact their team on their website. Pretty sure that they are not Cicada 3301, they not looking for highly inelligent individual but the opposite.
  • Red Flag 2: They have a calculator for you to check out what you are missing. A little psychology tricks to lure you in. Do not fall for this, anything that doubles your money will make it zero unless it is Mr.Beast.
  • Red Flag 3: Same old referral system. For newbies, if you see this in websites, make a rational move and investigate because this is a pyramid scheme
Apparently, this is a new site and it still hasn't lure someone into investing. Hopefully, no one will invest so the people behind wasted their time for naught.
3783  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Cloudbet should no longer be allowed on bitcointalk- a danger to community on: October 04, 2020, 06:33:10 AM
Hopefully, cloudbet explain their side of things here. I believe in fair justice, with this bunch of evidences piled high in their faces, they must atleast give out a word. Let this be a lesson for other people who will try to gamble, check the reputation of the site and if they have a rap sheet in regards to running away with people's money.

Update: The video was reinstated by Youtube. Thank god. If you read the comment section, a lot of CSA victims are confessing and thanking MamaMax for his deed.

3785  Other / Archival / Re: What will happen to bitcoin on a world war? on: October 04, 2020, 03:50:23 AM
Fiat does not immediately loses its value during the war, it is more of a gradual depreciation. Bitcoin will still be useful unless the physical networks where it travels is damaged, maybe post war, that will decide whether there is still value left because the war might have cause nuclear fallout. I think when war happens, bitcoin will be the least thing that I could think of, better focus on surviving because no use, having millions if you can't enjoy it.
3786  Economy / Economics / Re: Does China plan to go communist? on: October 03, 2020, 03:42:30 PM
China is one of the strict countries too they have different issues with their workers too that they are forcing them to make these kinds of outcomes just to become more wealth in their country, well there are a lot of stories like this and some of them are hoax came from the different people survive this kind of dictatorship.
By strict country, you mean surveillance state, expression is limited, making foreign companies bow to their terms like NBA, citizenship points. The woking conditions are the selling point for many foreign companies to get their piece of capitalistic pie.

This is a reason you see almost every country having someone called as the richest in the country and China is not excluded with Ma Huateng currently named as the richest in China ahead of Jack Ma

Quote
  Ma Huateng
China's richest man is the new money Internet billionaire Ma Huateng, the founder and CEO of Tencent, who recently took the top spot in China from fellow billionaire Jack Ma, the founder of Alibaba. Ma Huateng is worth $52.9 billion, while Jack Ma is worth $43.9 billion, according to Forbes.
Ma Huateng has a position in the government so basically his company is owned by China too. Winnie the Pooh will not let any private citizen get that much influence.
3787  Other / Meta / Re: Doxing on: October 03, 2020, 02:25:41 PM
This topic belongs in Meta.

It used to be possible to include dox outside this inaccessible-to-most section, I really don't think there's anything wrong with how things are now. Authorities aren't always able or willing to solve problems, and doxing can allow for easier spotting of various scammers.
Thank you for moving this topic to where it should be.

I believe in fair justice and privacy, that is the reason why I do not like the idea of doxing. Yeah, I agree in regards to authorities not doing shit about this thing especially if it is a small scale and hydra-like (cut another, two will grow back), sometimes they value their time to accomodate big cases and/or their paygrade/department budget not enough (fuckin' bureaucracy right?). But here is the case that scares me the most, in the vast sea of Internet, you will encounter a lot of people (hungry sharks) that when you drop someone's private information and you sprinkle it with the rage-inducing story that the doxxed person is a scammer/pedo or any bad things that you can think of, these sharks will be out for blood. You will never know if someone will exact mob justice to the doxxed person because as we all know, when bad people are dropped in the cyber water, the sharks of the Internet will be out for blood.

I do care a lot about privacy and I think no matter what you've done, other people that are not in authority should respect that privilege. Best thing to do is file a case report if you can. Internet is hungry for bad people and feeding them will not make it any better.
3788  Economy / Economics / Re: Are the Central Banks starting to worry about the public's perception? on: October 03, 2020, 12:58:45 PM
In my opinion, central banks have nothing to worry about regarding public perceptions. Due to the fact that most people still use fiat
for daily transactions, some people even keep money in the bank. Even though the public has started to lose confidence in banks,
but as long as the government still protects and supports banks. People must use banks, because the government controls people's lives.
So as long as cryptocurrency hasn't been accepted by the majority of countries in the world, I think fiat and banks are still safe.
This is what I have in mind too, the cryptocurrency community is still miniscule compared to the amount of people that either do not know it or doesn't want to use it. If there is a continuous unrest among populace when it comes to banking institutions where it comes to a point where a "by hook or by crook" approach/suppression is used by the country's government, I think that is where alternatives will shine, supposing that the government does not criminalize relation to cryptocurrency or otherwise, revolution against old system will be a surefire hit and a permanent change will hopefully happen.
3789  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mediocre/People. on: October 03, 2020, 09:10:21 AM
Yeah, not everyone is like you who jumps at opportunity if they have the chance. These mediocre that you are mentioning might be the most calculating because they do not jump the shark that quickly, testing the waters is a good measure in my opinion. Just because you want people to know about bitcoin does not mean that your wishes will come true. Everyone moves at their own pace so no point in whipping them to work. Educating someone about something is better than preaching it.
3790  Economy / Economics / Re: "Humans will not be replaced by robots very soon" --- yeah right !!! on: October 03, 2020, 05:34:20 AM
Automation, especially in the manufacturing sector, is needed with the aim of being able to become a competitive and efficient country when facing difficult economic times. For many industries, as production standards increase, labor costs also become more expensive. This condition forces many industries to switch from manual to semi-automated or fully automated.

For repetition and memory jobs, robots are indeed the winner, but robots find it difficult to do complex problem solving because robots do not have the heart and cognitive intelligence. In addition, automation is indeed a government program and a necessity. So that the current government's task is to ensure comprehensive and relevant education so that in the next few decades, the workforce is absorbed according to the labor market.
Automation will not happen in a day. If it comes to that, I think the government will be addressing the problem of millions of workers getting replaced by machines. I am optimistic about automation because I see it as a gateway for more people to focus on endeavors focused on scientific research. With more people studying STEM related courses, we can further advance our civilization because most of the populace are scientist, engineers, chemist, physicist and other jobs that are fundamental for an advancing civilization.
3791  Economy / Economics / Re: Does China plan to go communist? on: October 03, 2020, 03:55:57 AM
China has been a communist dictatorship for the last 70+ years. They have embraced some capitalist concepts, like private business ownership, but the communist party retains ultimate control over everything.

China tried a more "pure" marxist/leninist version of communism back in 1950s and it didn't quite work out so I don't think they'll move back towards that. There is no plausible reason to abandon the massive economic advantage that the current system has created. More violent suppression of dissent is possible though.
Violent suppression worked out real good in China, they are a surveillance state. China will be a red forever, the chances of having a change of heart in governance has died together with the students that died in Tianamen Square Massacre. The only thing keeping them afloat is putting a short leash on companies and their populace, they suppress companies that promote an ambitious capitalist principle and run propaganda on state owned television for their population.
3792  Economy / Economics / Re: FOLLOW THIS RULES TO BECOME RICH on: October 03, 2020, 02:18:27 AM
Pretty standard rules, I can second that. I would like to add some things to the bucket. One is always remember that if things can fuck up then it will fuck up; two is that there are people out there that are going to antagonize you, deal with it; three, power is corrupts the innocent, always be aware; four, do not trust anybody your back. In life, the first to lose is those who show their hands.
3793  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Quantum resistance on: October 02, 2020, 03:14:44 PM
Having a superposition of 0 and 1 does not make is equal to 2 bits. When the qubit is measured, it must be either 0 or 1, which is the same as the bit. If anything, n qubits can be thought of as the same as 2n bits. If you have n bits, then you can represent any one of n2 possible combinations. If I have n qubits, I can represent all n2 combinations simultaneously.
I said on my counter argument that it is technically 2 bits. Sorry if I do not know much about it. I am just fascinated by quantum mechanics so most things that I know is surface level. You didn't consider it in your post.

Here is the link to the one article I have read: https://superposition.com/2017/10/05/seven-things-need-know-about-qubits/

The speed increase is not because 1 qubit can store more data than simply 0 and 1. The speed increase is because it can simultaneously store both 0 and 1. As I said above, this allows a 16 qubit computer (for example) to simultaneously store 65,536 possible states.
That is what I was trying to say in the first place.

What do you mean needs more computing power? 1 qubit is equal to 2 bits, that is already fast. The current supercomputer will fall out of commission once quantum computer become available.
3794  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: There is coin who Will compete with very soon on: October 02, 2020, 01:20:07 PM
Well, Monero is really different from bitcoin even though they are the same open-source and completely decentralized.
But one thing that I see Monero/[XRP] that did not the same as bitcoin, there is no transparency of the transaction because that is kept your transaction secret amount that is being transferred to another wallet to the public ledger. Perhaps, this is banable for most countries that prone to money laundering.
That will be the sour deal for this coins if they ever get into the financial sector of the government. Surely these coins will not compromise their feature just to accomodate the government but we can't predict a sure future so we have to keep an eye out whether OP's prediction is true.
3795  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Florida man charged with scamming investors out of $6.8M in crypto trading schem on: October 02, 2020, 06:45:04 AM
This the least worst thing that a Florida man has been associated from. He will not be going down so easily because his case involved a lot of dough. This is a classic case of greed gone out of control, he was not content doing honest work. This is what happens when people always put money in the first place and make it a mantra that money is everything. Good thing that his scheme was immediately cracked down because if this could've dragged for awhile, there will be more investors that will get their money swiped under their nose on the pretense of investing it.
3796  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Quantum resistance on: October 02, 2020, 04:48:08 AM
1 qubit is equal to 2 bits, that is already fast.
The only way one qubit can encode 2 bits of information is if two parties share an entangled qubit prior to transmitting data to each other. For most cases of quantum computing at the moment, 1 qubit is equal to 1 bit.
Qubits are using superposition meaning that 1 qubit is equal to 0 and 1 at the same time, much like Schrödinger's cat, qubits are technically two bits. Why would it be equal to 1 bit and be faster than the modern computers?  And yeah, entanglement is reason why qubits can hold up to two bits of data.
3797  Other / Off-topic / Re: is this Patek Philippe Expensive or Cheap ? on: October 02, 2020, 03:59:34 AM
The obvious things about why Patek Philippe is expensive is because of the craftmanship that is put into the watch they are making, the combination of traditional watch making and revolutionary makes it more appealing to people and the name brand itself, whenever you want to sell your Patek Philippe you are guaranteed to get a value out of it. Other reasons are the prestige that is laced within their product, having one makes a statement about your taste. The last reason that I can think of is the aesthetics that is unique to their watches.
3798  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as Company Cash Reserve on: October 02, 2020, 03:01:45 AM
With the current price climate of bitcoin, chances are they can't pull out the their reserve immediately. The emergency and the prices might not match which might cause shortage in funds or worse bankruptcy. If I were the CEO of a company, I would hedge my bet on putting my reserve in a 50:50 split of cryptocurrency and fiat because cryptocurrency is not yet widely adopted.
3799  Other / Off-topic / Re: Re upload if you can to create awareness and protect the children on: October 01, 2020, 03:47:05 PM

What we need is a form of media that is totally decentralized, so that the media itself can never be sued. Such would throw the damage claims into the lap of the individual posters of the content/video... if he could even be identified.

The media programming would have to be good enough that it could compete with Youtube in speed and organization. Does anybody have any way to make something like Youtube that is completely decentralized?

Cool
There was a project back then by a member of Cicada 3301, as we all know Cicada is a enigmatic organization yet they are vocal about free speech in the Internet. It was sort of decentralize proposed by a member Liquid Vulture where journalist could publish their stories that can endanger their lives through that network. It was sort of a back up system where if there is a danger looming around that said journalist and there is a threat of endangering their lives so the stories can't be published, the system will initiate a fail safe where the story that was stored their will be sent to other servers that will publish the story. It was a useful system for journalist that are investigating rouge nations, crime ring or political scandal that can topple leaders.

There is another one of the same nature. It was a free speech library created in Minecraft as a server. They contain contraband texts that are banned for politically motivated reasons and other things.

Just another day at work lang sa kanila yan.
