Hmmm.... at least for me (after >12h) it looks like the .98 firmware gives me:

+20W (@230V)
+11Gh/s (correct avg. from cgminer - yes, I did use the new cgminer manually installed on 0.97)
less HW errors (included in the better performance)
higher temperatures (+3C but with my cooling still less than 40C)

This earns me 0.0139BTC per day (at high $0.35 European power costs).
That's better than a 7G BFL Jalapeno.

From a logic point of view: Of course!
Assuming that the ASICs perform at the same speed for both models under the same environment.

BUT
- 2x Saturn have better cooling (you can fix this with manually adding extra cooling/fans)
- The flushwork and maybe some other CPU/FPGA actions rely on the BBB speed. For a Jupiter the BBB has twice the
   amount of work to do.

On the other side:
- A Jupiter is more power efficient.
- A Jupiter had been cheaper than 2x Saturn

Gutes Argument!!! Da es so wenig echte Transaktionen bei der eMark gab, hatte ich immer glatt 50 DEM fürs Minen
bekommen.

Ich verstehe es auch nicht.
Da sich das ganze jetzt aber schon über Monate hinzieht, sollte er genügend Zeit gehabt haben, über sein Vorgehen nachzudenken.

Meine Theorien (es können mehrere davon zutreffen):

a) Er hat kein Geld, um alle Anteilsinhaber auszuzahlen, die es wollen.
b) Er befürchtet, dass nachdem er den ersten ausgezahlt hat, noch mehr von ihrem Rücktrittsrecht gebrauch machen werden
   bzw. dieses mit rechtlichen Schritten durchsetzen werden.
c) Er wartet auf eine € Überweisung von MtGox   und es ist für ihn nicht vorstellbar, Coins 10% billiger woanders zu verkaufen.
   (Wegen der zusätzlichen Kosten durch ein Mahnverfahren ist das ein schlechtes Argument.)
d) Er will uns alle nur ärgern und die Folgen/Kosten sind ihm egal.
e) Er plant die Rechtmässigkeit einer Rückzahlungsforderung anzuzweifeln.
f) Er hofft, dass die BFL Lieferung ankommt, bevor es zum Mahnbescheid / Gerichtsverfahren kommt.
   Dann will er sich durch ein Angebot "das Mining läuft doch jetzt" aus der Verpflichtung zum Refund drücken.
g) Er plant eine Privatinsolvenz und die ganzen Forderungen sind ihm egal.
h) Er plant, unterzutauchen.
   (Das würde ich erst ab 1/2 Mio € auch nur in Erwägung ziehen.)
i) Er spekuliert auf einen deutlichen Anstieg des BTC-Kurses. Dieser könnte alle zusätzlichen Gebühren und den Ärger
   kompensieren.
j) Er glaubt(e) nicht, dass Leute einen Mahbescheid wirklich durchziehen.

Hat noch jemand andere Theorien?

Ich hatte beim Minen einmal eine Auszahlung von 50.001 DEM.

After 85 minutes on 0.97 I can confirm that
- the flushworks is much better now
- the average performance is better than on 0.96 (at least with very good cooling) - I would say 2-3 more Gh/s

Temperatures reported by bertmod on my Saturn: 36,5 and 36C. All cores up.

Bitte bei allen Horror-Kalkulationen nicht vergessen, dass die HW (bis auf die ASICs) immer einen Restwert behält.
Ausserdem könnte man die Geräte in enem anderen Land (oder neben einem Windkraftwerk) betreiben.
Auch könnte der BTC-Kurs auf 1000 steigen. Ich habe absichtlich die Währung mal weggelassen 

I will try to get an OK for publishing my (ugly) modified perl script to display the temperature and active cores.
That's the only information I really used for manual tuning at the moment.
I did ask the author (in the KnC forum) if he could publish an ASCII (terminal) version of his tool, never received
an answer there.

My fan had been loose inside that black "cover", the screws you see did nothing! Just decoration!
That had been fine with the original setup, in my setup it would not work. That's why I did use the pure
fans. There is one screw that holds the fan from sliding away from the heatsink. The rubber band (must
find 2 more to have a redundant rubber band installation) does the rest.
I think the asic heatsink is oversized (that's good!) and the cooling for the VRMs is undersized. That's why
I tried to get more airflow on the VRMs and a little bit less on the heatsink.
The additional fans on the side help cooling the heatsink.

Performance:

It looks like my performance did go up (average Gh/s over >12h) from
260-265 (no modding, case closed)
265-269 (case open, 2 fans on the side)
269-272 (case open, 2 fans on the side, 1 fan on top)
272-275 (current setup, 90min average only)

Yeah, great idea!
(Don't do it in an earthquake region!)

Here is my setup. I removed that external case for the fans.
The results are great. The BertMod (modified ASCII script) reported temperatures dropped by 4-5C:

This setup also cools the VRMs much better. I had two ones (same location, see picture!) with a temperature of
51-52C. Those are now at about 47C. The only side effect is, that the heatsink is getting warmer. But - it's designed
for that. See the infrared thermometer measurements on the picture.





No temperature reading for the 4th VRM, sorry!

Update: I just noticed that the power usage did go up from about 278W to 282W. Maybe it's running faster

Is it possibly to permanently "break/destroy" a core that drops many HW errors and that is not disabled?

I had been in direct contact with Luke-Jr (thanks for your time!) and it looks like he could find the problem and
fix it. I think re-installing bfgminer from the GIT repository will fix the problem (if anyone else did experience it).

I made some tests (using a binary compiled with debug symbols - I must re-compile it) and it did work for 1 hour.

As some questions did pop up using bfgminer, I switched back to cgminer.

Luke-Jr: Can you give us some more ideas about how your software works with a KnC miner?
The old cgminer (or is it some other task running in background?) is disabling (and enabling) cores with too many HW errors.
This can be visualized using that BertMod utility.
bfgmiger is now doing this task by its own. You can see the number of active cores (2*4*48=384 for a Saturn) in the status
line. It looks like you can manually "enable" disabled cores. Will they also be enabled over time automatically again?
Is it possible that the BertMod statistics don't match the status of bfgminer?

My DIE 0 is the one that always had been warmer and the one that starts to disable cores (without very good cooling).
Using bfgminer you can see very good that this DIE has 7% HW errors compared to 2% of the other DIE 3.

The effect of a fushwork is still a big impact on the hashrate. I can not really confirm that it's better than how
cgminer is doing this.

Luke-Jr: Is this a general problem that can not be fixed due to the nature of those multi hundred cores?
From your programmers point of view, what advantage do you think bfgminer will have on those flushworks?

Unter der Voraussetzung, dass ich meinen Anspruch auf das Geld nicht verliere, würde ich von einer Pfändung der Avalons absehen.
Warum sollte ich Unbeteiligte (von dem Avalon Gruppenkauf) in diese Thematik (BFL) reinziehen?
Es geht vermutlich bei mir zu diesem Zeitpunkt "nur" um 250€. Es ist mehr eine Sache des Prinzips, warum ich das ganze durchziehe.
Ich kann auf meine Forderung warten, sie wird ja gut verzinst.
