How many will want to reveal how many Bitcoins they own and also how do you verify the claims?
Well to verify their claims they could sign a message using the address that holds the coins. It can verify minimum but not maximum they control. Like this
Code:
Hi! I'm MisteryMiner and I'm noble Bitcoun Bum.

I was wondering who will mention Ronja. It will need cooperation of at least 2 persons to set it up. The radio waves are omnidirectional so it is easier to connect to other mesh nodes. But highly directional light beams are harder to jam by electronic means.
On yeah, that's right, just use lasers for long distance. No radio interference and no jamming.

Sure.  Brilliant!  What could possible interfere with line-of-sight?

Yo never had birds crapping on outdoor WiFi antennas in such large quantity that they stop working?
On yeah, that's right, just use lasers for long distance. No radio interference and no jamming.
No radio interference, true. But fog, rain, birds, dust storms, snow, spiders...? Also, jamming a beam of light is more trivial than jamming a radio signal.
They both can be damaged using phisical means. Hit/dislodge WiFi directional antenna or Ronja beam = signal lost. But WiFi can be additionally jammed using purely radio means. Light beam is not that easy unless somebody can shine a laser into transceiver.

Once was a Bitcoin Count now I'm a Bitcoin Bum (lower than Bitcoin Bastard).

Not entirely true about JavaScript and hijacking. If the server is rooted or seized by pigs they can add anything to it. Tormail also did not require JavaScript.
385  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Future Proofing - Mesh Networking As Insurance Against ISP Attack on: August 27, 2013, 01:29:38 AM
Meshnet is not going to viable alternative for now because no suitable radio equipment is available. WiFi is not good enough because of small distance and possibility of jamming.

I have set up small meshnet using 4 routers running DD-WRT but they are not going to work over distance larger than small block. Dedicated amplifiers and antennas will help but not enough to reliably reach closest neighboring village. WiMAX would be more useful but I never had possibility to play around with them.

The meshnet concept must be divided in two parts. One part is development of ready to use software (firmware) for routing, interoperability and encryption protocols. Other part is development of new radio-electronic devices. Frequency hopping and non-standart (other than 2.4 and 5GHz) frequencies used when capable devices agree on them will somewhat help against jamming and similar attacks.

And Inaba is free to post his bullshit for whole year. Now who is right about BFL being scam and who is jealous for not ordering his ASIC? Mathew made some very bad moves and is a general jerk but he makes useful posts from time to time.

Realtek RTL8187 cards is old but does the job perfectly. There are a lot of "special" packeges of them from Asia with increased power and bundled accessories.

And forget about running virtual machines. Boot the Live CD. It is hard and unreliable to get VM to recognize USB WiFi NIC properly.
388  Other / Off-topic / Re: My hardware wallet finally arrived today (took 3 guys to deliver it). on: August 26, 2013, 11:46:05 PM
This steel hardware wallet is like software wallet encrypted with 56-bit DES. It is crackable by brute force in reasonable time.

If this safe would be 256-bit AES encrypted the monolithic steel walls would be thicker than diameter of Milky Way galaxy.
389  Other / Off-topic / Re: What motherboard do you guys recommend for an i7 CPU? on: August 26, 2013, 11:41:00 PM
What i7 version and socket? i7 is generic name like Celeron, it comes with LGA1366 LGA1156 LGA2011 sockets. The chipset is from X58 to Z87.

for the best i7 system I would recommend this board http://www.asus.com/ROG_ROG/RAMPAGE_IV_EXTREME/

Ignore the Hashwell i5 mainstream. LGA2011 is where i7 and Xeon goes.

Networking in Kali is configured properly? Sorry if it sounds sarcastic but it was my first thought that come in mind.

Self-hosting is a way to protect against court ordered censorship of users or protect the mail server from direct database access by NSA. The e-mail still can and will be read when it travels the internet in unencrypted form. The solution already exists and it is called PGP encryption. But almost nobody uses it.

They say that they don't commit crimes so they don't need encryption. But most people still wear pants in public even if they don't hide crimes under them. The ignorance of average computer user is unbelievable.

The problem - he admitted everything! Remember, anyone can send mail to you. Tracking or no tracking device, it does not prove the intent or any other illegal action by you. Better no to be intercepted and use drop addresses. No matter ganja, carding or anything else. It can be difference between freedom and prison.

The magstripe thing casts serious doubt about all of this. But what to believe. My grandpa told that he seen a german anti-aircraft laser in WW2. He did not gave much value to it because he was more impressed by Fau rockets. I asked did he seen a searchlight beam that was used to spot a plane and then bring it down with AA fire. He replied no, that was a totally different thing that was truck-mounted and it worked only against airplanes made from metal. The only thing is that laser is invented after WW2.

Countermail looks good. . . and they accept Bitcoin. . . any opinions as to whether they are secure?
Look at these quotes from their webpage:
Quote
CounterMail is a secure and easy to use online
Quote
it requires no specialized computer skills or knowledge
There is no real way to verify their claims about diskless servers (lol) or no IP logging. First might be true, the second probably not. They are operating on clearnet. The owners can be traced by LEA and they still can be forced to do nasty things to their users by LEA cockheads.

Holy shit 103 bitcoins!

I suggest that somebody trusted starts collecting bitcoins to pay Snowden to release everything he knows and have. To prevent the data or Snowden himself being destroyed by CIA scumbags.

Self-hosting your own mail server is a short term solution for long term problem. e-mail must be retired because of usability and security problems. Just like BBS or Gopher is no longer used by mainstream.
397  Other / Off-topic / Re: Lavabit closes down on: August 18, 2013, 09:20:10 PM
Don't use Russian or Chinese e-mail providers at all! mail.ru is just as bad as gmail the only difference is that it have direct link to FSB and Russian oligarchs instead of FBI/NSA.

Self-hosted server is great but it have many points of failure. Then comes mail servers hosted in Latin America or Africa.

Secret courts, jail time without committing crime as a means of coercion, secret spying. What it reminds from history?

True Crack or TC Crack is the name of software if I remember correctly. But taking in account the multiple hash passes it will take more than forever to crack a good password. TrueCrypt is designed to resist such attacks.
400  Other / Off-topic / Re: Summon the NSA - funny idea ... pls push 3 times a day this button :) on: August 18, 2013, 08:45:23 PM
Some NSA words contain too many generic words that will generate false positive in 99% cases. Not everyone looking for Cloud or Computer Infrastructure is going postal tomorrow. This fact of total monitoring alone shows that the real reason for NSA spying is total control and surveillance. As for terrorists, if USA is truly about protecting their country and peace then they must sign peace agreements with all the so called "terrorist organizations" and pay a reparations for the damage USA caused worldwide. And stop supporting the existence of illegal state called Israel.
