Technology is not going to make this forum better, I tell you.  Not even if that New Forum Software ever gets released--and that's a big LOL right there.

I'm in 100% agreement with this statement. Its the people, the personalities, the ideas & the educators that make this forum what it is. Also the trolls & the smart-asses, but technology won't make them better either.

Edit: According to BPIP.org, profile has been Autobanned
OK, but was that because of his use of AI or for some other reason?

From what I understand, the strict interpretation is they were banned for spamming. A less strict interpretation would be they were banned for AI spam, and the least strict would be they were banned for using AI. Between me & others in the AI Spam Report Reference Thread, they had about 30 "AI spam" reports marked as "Good". He had been warned continuously about it since November...
382  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Shitcoin 3.0 - First Parody Token on the First Parody Blockchain! on: March 02, 2024, 04:32:45 AM
Have been collaborating with the very talented Ooakosimo to build infrastructure for the upcoming ShitcoinDAO. Last night we even put on an outdoor visuals show which was very cool (click the link to see the video, and there's another one above it as well).

We are finding ways to explore the intersection between Trash Art and SHITCOIN -- feels like there is a lot of potential there.

I count 15 "Discovery of the Year" votes for me (not 14)

I should have fired up my 1,045 alt accounts to vote for you as you were definitely the discovery of my year, friend. Your level of not just technical knowledge but also passion for improving the forum supersedes that of just about anybody I've ever encountered here. The only thing negative I have to say about you is I have a hard time giving you merits because your merit-to-post ratio is already insane, and deservedly so. My hesitancy probably reflects more about me than you.

In any case, cheers. Let me know if I can make you a special Bitcoin NFT to commemorate your achievements; you might not be able to sell it for anything, but its the best I can do.
384  Other / Meta / Re: A simpler version of demerits: "dmerits" for every X merits earned on: March 01, 2024, 11:06:42 AM
~snip~
So, when caught red handed, OddJobsForBitcoin opened this shitty thread talking about demerit and how bad some higher ranked members, like decodx, are doing:

Hey Theymos, There Should Be a Demotion Button

BenCodie OddJobsForBitcoin thought it was a good idea, regardless of the context of where the proposal came from, and from what we see in the voting results, he seems to be the only one.

No matter how unpopular it may seem, I really don't believe in coincidences when it comes to those who have many alt accounts on this forum and try to manipulate other members using them. I won't repeat what I wrote, but for those who missed it -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5486444.msg63722621#msg63722621

I'm not quite seeing how the two accounts are connected, other than the similarity of these two aforementioned topics. When BenCodie first came back to the forum, I was intrigued by how self-righteous he was, which was a bit out of the ordinary for a non-established account. I looked at his old posts and new ones and saw the theme of domain sales was continuous, which led me to believe the account still belongs to the same owner. Perhaps I was wrong? Would like to see more substantive evidence if that is the case.
385  Economy / Reputation / Re: Farewell on: February 29, 2024, 02:19:45 PM

Here's the thing you just don't quite get: everyone here thinks you're a giant, remorseless asshole. Every. Single. Person.

If you want anyone here to use Wasabi, you'd shut the fuck up. Just shut the fuck up completely. Go away, basically.

If you want to continue to harm the reputation of the Wasabi brand, then by all means, keep talking.

The choice is yours.

I'm not debating you about this. As someone who's been here for 9 years longer than you, I'm telling you the way that it is.

You can either pseudo-intellectualize your way around it in an ultimately fruitless attempt to save face (yet again), or you can consider that perhaps I have a point.

The choice is yours.

Uh, there's a few ways around that. I'm a bit busy now but I can talk you through it later. Feel free to send me a DM. Just don't accept offers from newbies or red trusted members who want to "help" you before then -- they are scammers.

$XCP already up to $13.07... still has about $27 to go before it reaches the initial BTC burn parity price.

Definitely a hired bumping service. Very lame. Could even be this one, which has been known for engaging in the exact same tactics for years. I will take some time to look at the accounts in a bit, wouldn't be surprised if they're connected to other accounts that are engaged in coordinated shilling.
390  Other / Meta / Re: Icopress ' Merit Source Application 🚩 on: February 29, 2024, 03:32:49 AM
I apologize for the off-topic, but this guy's continual lying bothers me a lot:

I came here in 2013

No, you did not. You bought this account and then started copy/pasting ChatGPT for your posts. Someone claiming to be the original owner even bothered to protest because your posts are so remarkably bad:

I can confirm that account is stoled, It was my old account that I dont have access anymore, I dont know how long my account has been stoled. I can confirm it by old mails and proofs, I dont want my old account back, i dont care tbh, but i dont want anyone to impersonate me.

If you can check my 2013 writing to this writing now is clear its not the same person, bc I was the old owner.

You should absolutely be banned.

Clear use of chatbot services that should result in a ban right away.

Wow, what an honor, my first Bitcointalk Awards. The list of people I wanna thank is so long, let's see how many I can name before the play-off music starts. First I wanna thanks icopress for putting this whole thing together, this guy is a real workhorse behind the scenes and sometimes I'm jealous of that level of work ethic.

Second I want to thank all the people who voted for me, even if you just copy/pasted other peoples' votes and don't really know me, you're still cool with me of course. We've come a long way in deterring AI spam since it first became a problem, and thanks to the vigilance of the entire community of scambusters, I don't think scammers can get away with as much shit as they used to (oh sorry, I forgot this is a family show, please bleep that). Anyway thanks to everyone out there trying to keep it 100 and trying to keep scams & spam outta this house.

Of course I can't forget satoshi, without him none of us would be here right now, he's the man of all mans. I also want to thank theymos for keeping the lights on & being the most benevolent of dictators. He's created an environment that allows us to be who were are and keep us all coming here.

I also want to thank Kendrick Lamar for putting How Much A Dollar Cost out into the universe -- its a sword of a song that I try to live by in my day to day life, an inspiration for real. I wanna also thank Ye for his guest vocals on the single, Buddha, Copernicus, Gilgamesh, Andrew Carnegie, Stephen Hawking and of course the Big Man Upstairs. Love ya all, for real. Peace out y'all and let's do this again next year, I had fun.

It occurred to me that o_e_l_e_o's behavior reminds me of Jussie Smollett, who faked a hate crime against himself: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jussie_Smollett_hate_crime_hoax

Just like Jussie Smollett was framing white people to promote himself, o_e_l_e_o framed open source privacy projects to promote his "mixing sites".

The profitability of Bitcoin mining depends on several factors, including the cost of electricity, the price of Bitcoin, and the mining difficulty. Mining difficulty refers to how hard it is to solve the mathematical puzzles required to validate transactions and earn new Bitcoins. If the mining difficulty is high, it takes more computational power to mine Bitcoin, which makes it less profitable. However, if the price of Bitcoin increases, it can still be profitable even with a high mining difficulty. Overall, Bitcoin mining can be profitable, but it is a highly volatile business and requires a significant investment in hardware and electricity costs. Before getting into Bitcoin mining, it is important to do your research and make sure you understand the risks involved ..

Additionally, it is important to keep in mind that the price of Bitcoin is highly volatile, and it is possible to lose money even if you are successful in mining Bitcoin. As with any investment, it is important to diversify your portfolio and not to invest more than you can afford to lose. Even if you are able to successfully mine Bitcoin, it is important to remember that it is still a highly speculative investment. While the potential rewards can be great, the risks are also significant.

The answer to this question is both yes and no. On the one hand, politics is a necessary part of any functioning society. Without some form of political system, it would be impossible to make decisions about how to run the country, how to provide for the needs of the people, and how to resolve conflicts. On the other hand, it is also true that politics can be divisive and can lead to conflict rather than resolution. It is often said that the ends do not justify the means, and that the same can be said of politics. Sometimes, the pursuit of power and control can lead to corruption and injustice, rather than the intendedgoal of improving society. So, while politics is necessary in some form, it is important to be aware of its potential pitfalls and to strive for a more positive and cooperative political system. In an ideal world, politics would be focused on the common good, rather than individual or partisan interests. It would also be characterized by mutual respect and understanding, rather than hostility and division. While this may not always be the case in the real world, it is still a worthy goal to strive for. Ultimately, it is up to individuals to decide whether or not they think politics is necessary and what kind of political system they want to support.

It's a bit of a generalization to say that herbalists live longer than Christians. While there may be some individuals who follow traditional healing practices and have long lives, this is not necessarily true for all herbalists. Additionally, there are many other factors that contribute to a person's lifespan, such as diet, exercise, and genetics. That being said, there may be some benefits to following traditional healing practices. Herbalism often emphasizes the use of natural remedies, which may be less toxic and have fewer side effects than modern pharmaceuticals. Additionally, herbalists may have a better understanding of how to prevent and treat diseases through lifestyle changesrather than just relying on medications. Finally, many herbalists place an emphasis on a holistic approach to health, which takes into account not only the physical body, but also the mental and spiritual aspects of well-being. While there is no definitive proof that herbalists live longer than Christians, the lifestyle changes and practices associated with herbalism may have some health benefits. Of course, it is always important to consult with a medical professional before making any changes to your health regimen.

There are several reasons why Bitcoin may be the only cryptocurrency you should consider buying. First, Bitcoin has the largest market cap and is the most widely recognized cryptocurrency. Second, Bitcoin has a limited supply, which means that its value will likely continue to increase over time. Third, Bitcoin has a strong community of supporters who are committed to its success. Fourth, Bitcoin has a transparent and secure blockchain that is resistant to fraud and manipulation. Finally, Bitcoin has the most well-established infrastructure, including exchanges, wallets, and payment processors. While there are many other cryptocurrencies on the market, Bitcoin remains the most established and secure option...

In addition to the reasons mentioned above, there are a few other factors that make Bitcoin unique. One is its decentralization. Unlike many other cryptocurrencies, which are controlled by a small group of developers or investors, Bitcoin is decentralized, meaning it is not controlled by any one entity. This makes it more resistant to censorship and manipulation. Another factor is Bitcoin's use as a store of value. Many people view Bitcoin as a digital gold, a place to store their wealth that is not subject to the whims of governments or central banks. Finally, Bitcoin has a strong and growing ecosystem, with a wide range of businesses and services built around it.

The next step for Solana is likely to be continued development of the network and its ecosystem. Solana is still a relatively new blockchain, so there is plenty of room for growth. The team behind Solana has been working hard on improving the network's scalability, as well as building out the DeFi and NFT ecosystems. The network is also expected to continue to attract more developers, as well as partnerships with major companies. Overall, Solana's future looks bright, and it is likely to continue to gain popularity and adoption in the coming years. However, it is important to remember that the crypto market is volatile, and anything can happen

That said, Solana has a lot of potential and is already making waves in the industry. One of the most important factors that could impact Solana's future is the direction of the overall crypto market. If the market experiences a bull run, Solana could see significant gains. On the other hand, if the market enters a bear cycle, Solana could suffer along with other cryptocurrencies. Ultimately, it's important to do your own research and make your own decisions about investing in Solana. Keep in mind that anything can happen in the crypto world, and past performance is not an indicator of future results.

394  Other / Meta / Re: Use of AI on Bitcoin talk on: February 28, 2024, 10:38:28 AM
Well the rules are very ok because it help us to be able to write very well in English, than to use AI because by using AI it just like someone who is doing expo in the classroom and it will not help us anywhere if we continue to use AI,but when you do your best with your brain it's preferable even though you sentence is not long enough, but at least the little that you were able to put down is commendable more than the good write up you have stolen from the AI..

Again please is there any moderator who can monitor all this, and be able to identify this AI write up and finish them out or how did get the find out who uses AI write?

Its not that you're using AI to correct your words (which you shouldn't do anyway), its that you're using it to generate entire thoughts for you. You're telling me that you actually know a way to bridge out bitcoin testnet to bitcoin signet? These are not your words:

Yes, it is possible to bridge out from Bitcoin Testnet to Bitcoin Signet. There are a few different ways to do this, but the most common is to use a bridge contract. A bridge contract is a smart contract that allows you to convert your Testnet bitcoins into Signet bitcoins. To use a bridge contract, you'll need to have a wallet that supports both Testnet and Signet, such as the Metamask wallet. Once you have your wallet set up, you can then use the bridge contract to transfer your Testnet bitcoins to Signet. The process is fairly straightforward, but it's important to follow the instructions carefully to ensure the transfer is successfully..
Once you've bridged out your bitcoins, you'll be able to use them on the Signet network. It's important to note that while you can bridge out from Testnet to Signet, you cannot bridge back from Signet to Testnet. Additionally, you should be aware that Signet is still in beta, and there may be some bugs or issues that arise. Overall, bridging out from Testnet to Signet is a relatively simple process, but it's always a good idea to proceed with caution when dealing with cryptocurrency.

Council respond to dad who binned £275m Bitcoin hard drive in landfill
https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/no-chance-dad-who-binned-32114384

a very recent one!

My favorite part of the article:

An excavation, the father says, would take nine to twelve months and would be aided by specially employed AI technology. The engineer says he has studied aerial photographs of the site and believes the hard drive is in a 200-metre squared area and could be 15-metres deep.

I guess the "AI technology" helps determine what a hard drive might possibly look like in a field of debris? Aside from that, this is 3,000 cubic meters of waste they need to sort through in order to find it. A total waste of time, IMO. The worst outcome (which is also one of the most likely) would be doing all that work and then not finding it. Dude needs to be more like Laszlo the Pizza Guy & let it go.
397  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: (Ordinals) BRC-20 needs to be removed on: February 26, 2024, 08:21:25 AM
This low fee face has been good.
But, I wonder why the Ordinals guys aren't making their moves now.
Why are you only interested in doing this during busy periods?

Well, they are/were the ones causing the busy periods. Ordinals activity is down across the board. It appears the hype is finally subsiding; however, last time I said that (in October) it came roaring back with a vengeance, so I don't want to jinx it.

It appears there market has reached an inflection between a saturation point and boredom; there's just too many ordinals + BRC-20 for sale out there and a finite amount of BTC to pay for them. If anyone is interested, this is the collection that seems to be all the rage right now:

https://magiceden.io/ordinals/marketplace/nodemonkes

The floor price is currently >0.4 BTC for them and 45.5 BTC in trading volume over the last 24 hours Shocked  insanity. No way it will last.
398  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: (Ordinals) BRC-20 needs to be removed on: February 26, 2024, 05:03:52 AM

For the most part, Luke holds no sway over major changes to Bitcoin Core, and his request to "fix the bug" will be ignored. Bitcoin Knots can do all the updates it wants. It won't affect Ordinals in any way whatsoever.

Not only that but a miner who runs Bitcoin Knots is just hurting themself since they lose out on a larger mempool. Reducing the transaction fees they can earn. So I doubt any miner would use something so restrictive.

This is true. It's an ideological-based decision to run Knots or participate in Luke's mining pool. The irony is Luke has been putting bible verses in mined blocks since 2011. At the time, he was also accused of "polluting the blockchain with nonsense." This, among other weird reasons, are why its hard to take him seriously.

Apparently his new pool, Ocean, has mined a whole 17 blocks since coming back late November, which is actually more than I thought they would. You can see on this page see which transactions their block template rejects from a block, kind of interesting:

Mission accomplished and did you doubled your balance?

Yes I did. More than double, actually. Everything worked out well & I completed my withdrawal yesterday. Although I think next time I will deposit & play LTC as this particular sportsbook started accepting it not too long ago, and they don't charge a withdrawal fee for that.

Mission accomplished, locking this thread now.

400  Other / Meta / Re: Hey Theymos, There Should Be a Demotion Button on: February 25, 2024, 04:12:43 AM
The demotion button, as far as it applies to signature campaigns, already exists in the form of negative trust. Quite frequently, a single red trust from a DT member is enough to keep an account out of any type of campaign. Of course it should be given for being untrustworthy and not just a shitposter. There's neutrals for that, and if a campaign manager cares at all about the quality of their campaign, they will take these into consideration as well.

Anyone who has been around here for a year or longer realizes that Legendary status doesn't necessarily mean jack. Many Legendaries achieved their status before the advent of the merit system, are shitposting trolls, and woefully lag in merits. Many more are purchased accounts.

If OP is personally worried about obtaining more merits for themselves, my suggestion would be to just focus on posting from one account instead of trying to juggle a handful of alts.
