thanks for the good documentation regarding factom community install guide - it worked fairly well, even though I had to install a virtual box and was using linux/ubuntu for the first time.
next questions: do I have to somewhat import the a private key? (I assume I do not have to) and is there a proper documentation on how to send tokes purchased during the crowdsale?

We have a quick app that we will release tomorrow that you can simply download and convert your 12 words into a factoid address. Then you can put the factoid address into the Factom Explorer and see your balance.
The Factom CLI (the command line wallet) will then let you create and send factoid transactions.
Exchange integration is now our big effort, along with getting a GUI wallet released. This is all coming together over the next few weeks.

What does this coin do that makes it so high and great compared to other altcoins? All I hear is Factom this and that. It's going to be the best. Couldn't any random altcoin do what Factom is doing?
"federated/centralized servers" could just be PoS mining.
"side chain" is just a blockchain that can work along side bitcoin = 99% of altcoins.

No, you're not missing anything. BitSwift is already doing the majority of what these guys claim to be doing. It's going to be another ether that may pump initially because people won't be able to figure out how to move their coins (yeah, it's tough to build a GUI wallet on such a tight budget  ) but as soon as people figure out it'll dump to shit and nobody will ever care again. @chopper: there is a need. Many people use public/managed wallet services. We cannot simply send all BTC back to the source addresses. Besides, we explicitly stated that we would like to have the same BTC address, not a new one if possible "my current BTC address for receiving coins: *BTC ADDRESS* (NOTE: please use the same as the original if possible. That would speed up things drastically)"
#edit: I have not got a single BTC/LTC personally. all send-transactions from that coin accounts were used for paying things like the server. If there are less proposals than 150btc, then I will split parts of the difference between all of you. Lastly I will pay myself off for the work put into eXocoin (dont worry that wont be too much).

Update:Shadowsocks was taken off of github, by government. https://github.com/shadowsocks/shadowsocksShadowsocks is the only way to access the internet from inside of China. This is disturbing. I am fixing a networking bug that took network down for an hour yesterday. Some types of abnormal disconnections or blocking by the chinese firewall can cause the client to get black listed for an hour and show zero peers. I am removing some of the black list conditions to improve reliability when internet connectivity is being attacked/blocked/disrupted. Yes there will be, we are in talks with a few but we should be able to have ShapeShift and Cryptsy to start with. Cryptsy ?! oh dear.. Why not poloniex ? Bittrex, Cryptsy, Poloniex, and ShapeShit.io should be the 4 to start with. I prefer to Bittrex and Poloniex, bter is okay too. |

When we hosted our token sale it was clearly stated that 20% of the Factoids were reserved for early investors, that is no secret, everyone before purchasing Factoids was able to find that information.
As David mentioned we cannot disclose the names of the people who participated in the early sale, is that what are you looking for, the names of the people?
Their funds helped Factom develop its software since 2014, without them we wouldn't have been able to be where we are now.
David also mentioned: The Genesis block will show the amounts of Factoids owned by all participant addresses that took part in the early sale (20%), main sale (50%), and the early contributors (30%).
That is where you'll be able to see where all the Factoids are.
The personal names are irrelevant to me. Nothing you did was illegal, it was just sneaky. The worst thing you did was create a bubble as the early investors pump up the price with public buyers. But from now on out I will be calling out all crowdsales if they try to perfom a 1COP2COS An important thing to note about this scam is they rely on the argument that the early funds were required. This argument does not justify a private limited coin offering. Initial funds should be raised through the public. This would give the same private investors the ability to invest into the project. If these same private investors are not willing to invest with the public then it proves this is an over valued bubble that no one should be investing in. If the smart investors who know about this technology aren't willing to invest with the public then you should take their advice and not invest with the public either. Don't end up a bag holder wishing on shooting stars while the early investors are cashed out with lots of profits and moving on to the next project. Yes, please, release the roadmap for investors.
I want a head mounted display, so that I can program without getting out of bed. I am still getting bit by insects, but all the visible insects are dead. The exchange and getting contractors and misc overhead are taking up all my time right now. 1> Get exchange up 2> Get consensus implemented and then switch public/main client/blockchain over 3> Meshnet/networking 4> Small changes to client and interfaces and cleanup 5> Admin/payrol/buying equipment/bug bites I spent a lot of time on networking and architecture for simplifying the skywire router/node implementation over the last two weeks. I really only want to work on this part right now, but other things which are more urgent. There are three different groups working on the mesh net but I have not had time to stay updated on what they are doing. One group is doing the pseudowire implementation. The exchange was originally going to require writing new software, but we decided to use bitcoind instead of libbitcoin. This is the fastest way to get it working. The crypto library port from C to golang will be a lot of work. We spent a lot of time going through the code SIPA wrote and figuring it out and no one has time right now to actually do the port. It will not matter until the wallet has to run on android and iOS. This simplifies cross compilation, but is not essential and does not change program or functionality, but just improves the build process for cross compilation. So low priority and will take time. Consensus implementation is important but is lower priority than the exchange. Getting the exchange up seems to be the most urgent thing that people care about right now. We need to hire more contractors to work on specific things and will spending more money at a faster rate. Everyone so far has only worked on what they felt like and its left tasks undone. We need to get contractors for those. There is a huge list of small things and I just want someone to start going down the list and checking things off, so that it gets done. I can only do at most two thing at once. So I am personally ignoring everything not related to the exchange or the contractors. Is there a windows version when beta launches?

Not at the beginning, the beta will be a command line tool and will require installations of requirements. There will be a GUI and a easier to use binaries in future releases. You've got to be fucking kidding me...all of those funds and you can't release a simple GUI with the first release? This will dump exactly like Ether did. If anyone wants to buy mine off me, let me know. This is nonsense. We haven't received any funds yet, they are held in a multisig until we complete our milestones. You will be able to get your Factoids out of Koinify, there won't be a GUI but there will be step by step instructions on how to create a Factoid address and import your Factoids from Koinify. Work is in progress, and there will be a easy to use wallet as part of the second milestone. If there is no issue according to your step-by-step instruction, that's good, but actually there will be various of issues which are very tricky for non-programmers just as Ethereum, they have lots of instructions too but there are still many guys who can't make their wallet working or mining. It's simple to you guys since you are very familiar with what you do but it's very very hard for newbies. |
