Less than 2 months for 420 Cheesy

Is that when the price of CANN will hit 0.04 btc?  Wink

I'm curious. Why would you float such an idea?

Serious question. Think about it.

Has ∆9 or has he not been at pains to not excite the market and/or pump CANN?

He's a guy who wants the best for everybody and harm for no-one - that's obvious from everything he's said and done.

Is that achieved by market pumps and dumps? Of course it is not. People get caught up buying in irrational exuberance generated by market pumpers looking to take the funds of market followers and the under-informed. People get caught holding bags of coins bought at too-high a price and who then become upset that there is not yet more hyperbole generated so they in turn can dump their coins on other unsuspecting or irrationally exuberant buyers, all seeking a quick profit at the expense of someone else.

Does that sound anything like the vision ∆9 has communicated? Does it facilitate getting high-quality mmj to patients at a reasonable price? It doesn't help that mission at all, does it.

Coin speculators and profit-seekers keep pressing for publicity, for more promotional material, despite the Federal danger to ∆9 of increased scrutiny that exposure is bound to bring.

How will it help the Yes We CANN! movement? How will it get medical marijuana into the hands of the patients who need it?

Those are the questions you need to answer and the benefits you need to show if you want to distract ∆9 from his mission but I strongly suspect his focus will remain laser-locked on delivering for mmj patients.

Will the 4/20 date attract more media attention to mmj generally? That is very likely and so too is an increase in trading volume and exchange price of all the "weed coins".

Will ∆9 actively engage in pumping CANN? I doubt it, at least for the foreseeable future.

Ask yourself - is ∆9 pouring finance, time and effort into establishing mmj grows to pump and flog yet another crypto currency or does CannabisCoin exist to facilitate getting donated CANNdy to patients?

My guess is that a lot of market watchers missed the quiet announcement of the first small harvest of a test grow (very diesel, if you did miss it) and I can see that being the likely CannabisCoin news cycle-style while the various grows are established, varieties selected and tested, then grown and distributed.

CANN's rapid price escalation last October led to jealousy, slander and considerable ill-feeling, harms ∆9 is likely to seek to minimize. I have no doubt there will be more public awareness events - there will need to be so that mmj patients learn what is available to them but I suspect they will be spaced away from obvious anniversary and/or celebration dates specifically to smooth the gradual and organic price rise of CannabisCoin's exchange rate.

Looking for dates to promote? How about seeing/contacting your politicians to see what can be done about patient rights and legalizing at least mmj, if not full recreational.

There is much to be done and much to look forward to but CANN pumps? Meh...

Download and import CannabisCoin-qt pre-installed on Ubuntu 14.04LTS Virtual Machine

If your virtualisation software can handle the industry-standard Open Virtualization Format (OVF) you can import this ready-to-use virtual appliance.

Don't own any suitable software? No problem, Oracle provides VirtualBox for Windows, Mac OSX, Linux and Solaris hosts for free. https://www.virtualbox.org/

Assuming you have or install VirtualBox then importing this ready-to-use Ubuntu installation is as simple as selecting the "File" menu and choosing "Import Appliance". From there you will be presented with a dialogue to select the file "Cann_on_Ubuntu_14-04-1.oca" that you download from the link(s) included here.

http://www.filefactory.com/file/6wa59ciqbnsv/Cann_on_Ubuntu_14-04-1.ova

The filefactory link will expire in about 90 days, I'll try to make more permanent arrangements before that time.

Follow the prompts to select the file for import and make any changes you wish to the appliance settings. Don't worry about making an error because you can simply stop the virtual machine and adjust the settings at any time in the future.

As initially distributed the virtual machine has been allocated minimal resources - 1 processor, 1Gb RAM, 128Mb video with a low resolution monitor and small vHDD space. You should consult your virtualization software manual about increasing those settings should you wish to do so.

As supplied this virtual appliance has modest requirements and consequently delivers modest performance.

User name: cann, password: YesWeCann

Not familiar with Ubuntu and want to change the keyboard, language or don't know how to change the default password? We have instructions for that, here and here.

A few notes on this appliance (or virtual machine, if you prefer):

I have uninstalled the games and libreoffice suite that are part of the default Ubuntu install simply because I don't want to encourage general use but rather keeping the environment as pristine as possible for your CannabisCoin transactions. Think of it more like your bank's safety deposit cubicles where you put things into or take them out of your safety deposit box. You don't go there to do your correspondence, do you?

Similarly, don't think because you are using a more secure operating system in this virtual appliance that it is somehow then made safe to do so on a malware-ridden Windows box. That is like taking your safety deposit box to a seedy part of town during a power outage and counting piles of cash on the sidewalk, hoping nothing bad will happen.

Keeping your CannabisCoin wallet inside a virtual machine makes it more difficult to steal, not impossible and if your host machine is infected with key-logging malware then whoever controls the malware already has your passwords. On the other hand you have dramatically increased the amount of data the would-be thief has to handle in order to access your wallet so you are less likely to be targeted until CANN becomes much more expensive.

What does this all mean? It means you must take action to protect yourself, particularly on Windows host machines. Keep your ant-virus/anti-malware software up to date. Run scans regularly and frequently (once a year may be regular but once a week is just frequent enough). Use common sense about the links you click - is it normal for some enterprise to send you emails and how likely are they to ask for details by email? And please, try to refrain from clicking links in spam mail offering to take you to "BarelyLegalTeens.ru" or some such. Basically, think before you click.

Finally, even though you keep a sparkling clean, superbly running machine you need to keep backups because, unlike true friends, devices will always fail you eventually. If you have multiple encrypted copies of your wallet.dat file stored in diverse, secure locations you can always get another computer, install a wallet by any of the means available to you and copy in your wallet.dat file to recover all your coins.

Hopefully the above has been sufficient to help you get started with your own fairly safe environment from which to make your CannabisCoin transactions.

Anyone having trouble can PM me here or email me at b4zz4.code@yahoo.com.

As always, may the source be with you. Smile and wish someone a really nice day Smiley

You probably don't know what you're talking about as it's PEGGED that means 1 CANN=1 GRAM even if price will be 10 satoshis per one cann, it should rise NATURALY after you will be able to redeem medicine for cann on multiple places.

Ok, so tell where i can buy 10000 kilograms, because i bought 10000 CANN.

I wait your answer Smiley

ps: to be serious, you can sell 1 gram for 1 CANN, but not for a long time Wink and actually there is no rule, if i want to sell 1 gram for 0.5 CANN i can do it and the price will fall but i will get a lot of patients.

Actually Stoner, I don't think you do get it. CANNdy, the medicinal marijuana donated by ∆9, some other grower or the dispensary, is redeemable at the pegged rate of 1 CANN = 1 gram while any other marijuana/goods will cost you (price divided by exchange rate of CANN) CANN. In other words a $5.00 ball cap will cost you $5.00 worth of CANN, regardless of whether that amounts to 0.5 CANN or 5,000 CANN.

Specifically you need to note from the OP (bold mine):
Quote
CannabisCoin is backed by Marijuana where it is accepted. The Cannabis Coin represents REAL medical marijuana specifically designed and grown by “CannabisCoin Marijuana Cultivators“. These specific Marijuana STRAINS are to be bought and sold exclusively with CannabisCoins.

Quote
The Yes We CANN movement is about medical marijuana dispensaries and shop owners that participate in providing safe, affordable, and quality medicine utilizing CannabisCoin as payment. This movement is a way for dispensaries and shop owners to show their appreciation to their patients by donating some medication into the “CANNdy” inventory.

Quote
CANNdy is a supply of meds that consists of strains grown specifically for CannabisCoin purchases and/or strains that can be purchased at the rate of 1 Cannabis Coin (CANN) to approx. 1 GRAM of medication.

Nowhere is it even suggested that you can or ever will be able to redeem 10,000 CANN for 10 kilos of marijuana.

Try being realistic in your expectations. In the U.S. marijuana is still Federally illegal and even the most permissive State legislation will not allow "open slather"* trade. At most you are likely to be permitted to exchange a few CANN for a few grams on any given day.

Nor is there any incentive to "under cut" the price of donated inventory, unless, of course, you want to give away a lot more inventory.... CannabisCoin is a token to direct mmj to patients at a steeply discounted price.

There is a chance that CannabisCoin will spread as a payment medium in lieu of cash as long as the Federal-State banking tension continues because banks are currently too frightened to handle marijuana accounts. That situation could change with an outgoing president or an incoming one, for that matter. You have to evaluate your expectations of future events for yourself.

* I'm told "open slather" is uniquely Antipodean, where it means "free rein" or "without restriction". I'm an Aussie, deal with it.

CANN movement is about the low priced medicine for patients; ergo, the lower the price, the better it is for patients. It's been stated ad nauseam that increasing the coin's price is not important to, nor a goal of, the development team.

Prices going down means cheaper meds for patients!  Smiley

Nope, no more pictures...D9 will be arrested by the Fed.

dude... it's jokes?

If the cannabis coin price is lower patients will need more cannabis coin to buy one gram... it's not the price of the weed that will change because the price of CANN is changing.

No, not jokes - the pegged 1 Cann = 1 gram is still in effect at the one designated dispensary (see picture, if you like). It makes no difference what the exchange price of that 1 Cann may be because the CANNdy is donated.

∆9 responds to pleas for pictures and promos here with the statement:
Quote
I can completely understand some of the constant news requests but keep in mind, there are many factors at play when it comes to crypto acceptance and cannabis in the general public.  Cannabis is currently federally illegal and overrides any state laws in the United States.  If 'they' do not like a medical marijuana grower, doctor, dispensary, or patient they can shut you down.. simple as that.
and that's why publicity has been reduced.

385  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CannabisCoin [CANN][X11][Official][2] Developments & Discussions on: February 19, 2015, 01:14:40 PM
D9 grows cannabis for sale exclusively for CANN. I have a feeling his harvest will be announced sometime in March with pictures and a pre-set sales date on 4/20. Price will shoot up in the days before. Best to sell on 4/19 as there will be a dump on 4/20 and 4/21.
Nope, no more pictures...D9 will be arrested by the Fed.

ceviarus is being somewhat churlish but unfortunately very close to the truth of risks involved: Rogue Detroit Cops Wage War On Legal Medical Marijuana Community, for example.

Port numbers are not the issue as long as the client and miner .confs match.

Wolf0 disabled.. err.. didn't bother coding the solo aspects of neoscrypt. Don't be surprised if he or someone has done the same here.

Does that mean he has to compile cannabiscoind?

Good question.

What I do know is, with neoscrypt, the general public was not able allowed to solo with any of his kernels. That is.. until some were leaked.

Just going by what I've seen on IRC solo mining has always been possible on CannabisCoin.

Going by this tutorial some coins are particular about which port is used. I have no idea where to look in the code to find out if CannabisCoin is one of them.

Thanks for your work B4zz4! Can you also copy paste it on forum.cannabiscoin.net plz?
btw, can you share your CANN address for tip you?

G'day Tulsene Smiley

You are welcome. I will try to post on forum.cannabiscoin.net in the How-to section in the next few hours, if I get the chance.

About the tip address, I don't think you are allowed to post those here except in signatures, where you'll find mine Wink

Hi  B4zz4  , I was going to send you a tip for your hard work but after inputting your address in the CannabisCoin Explorer search nothing comes up ? Is this your correct address ?

G'day MrBig Smiley

Yes, that's my correct sig address - it's just never been used.

CANN coming at you two transactions. Smiley

CANN coming at you 2 transactions. Grin
Thank you for the thought though Smiley

Update: just sent myself ten whole CANN to put the address into the blockchain.

Thank you very much for your kind donations Smiley

All tips most gratefully received.

INSTRUCTIONS TO INSTALL CANNABISCOIN-QT ON DEBIAN 7

While Debian is the distribution upon which Ubuntu was based there are some important differences involved when trying to build Qt files.

If you want to build on Ubuntu use the instructions found here.

The following was originally written as a text file and has been only slightly edited for use here.

####################################################
#
# This file contains the sequence for building CannabisCoin wallets on
# debian systems. Builds were successfully completed on Debian version 7.8.
#
# Comments are particularly verbose in an effort to ease newcomers into building
# their own secure wallets on linux systems.
#
# While this file could easily be converted into a shell script please do not do so.
# Some commands must be run as root, most should not. Compile times will cause
# sudo permission sessions to expire, or at least they should and the script will fail.
#
# Commands are written here to be copied and pasted into a terminal session.
# Lines beginning with "#", like this one, are comments to help you understand
# the commands you are about to execute.
#
# Sometimes more than one command is included per line, joined with "&&", this
# is simply to reduce the number of times users need to copy and paste commands.
#
# Corrections, suggestions and comments are welcome and should be e-mailed to
# b4zz4.code@yahoo.com or you can PM me here on bct.
#
# Good luck and may the source be with you Wink
#
#####################################################
#
# Open a terminal - open the Applications menu at top-left of the desktop
# => Accessories => Terminal or alt-F2 to open the run dialogue and type terminal.
#
# Copy and paste the next line of text into the terminal window and press return.
# You will be asked for your password because you are installing system software.
# Keep doing the same thing with the next line beginning without "#" when your
# prompt returns, which will happen when the previous command has finished execution.
#
# *** Note that you may not be permitted sudo use yet, so let's change
# that now - you'll need the root password to do this.
#
# Tip: you can paste into the terminal either via the keyboard with shift-ctrl-v
# or with right-click => paste.

Code:
su

# Yes, just the two-letter command, then your root password when asked.
# Now add yourself to the sudoers group by replacing [your user name here] below
# with your username and running "usermod -a -G sudo I_love_CANN" or whatever
# your username may be.

Code:
usermod -a -G sudo [your user name here]

# Now you need to give yourself the ultimate power by opening a special editor
# and adding a single line of text.

Code:
visudo

# It's not anything flash, no graphical WYSIWYG interface but it will check
# that you don't make any mistakes that will lock you out of your system Smiley
# With the down arrow move the cursor below the line that reads
# root  ALL=(ALL)  ALL
# and type

Code:
YourUserName  ALL=(ALL)  ALL

# it must be on a line all on its own, just like the root line above it.
# Then type control-o for write-out (which is just save), enter (or return), control-x.
#
# Provided visudo doesn't complain you should now be part of the elite
# superuser group. While you have your super powers we'll add another software source
# so that we can download the correct version of Berkeley database ( DB4.8 )
#
# The following command (series of commands, actually) will edit the list of software
# repositories searched by the system and will do so in neat, human readable form.
# Firstly it will add a blank line and then the comment reminding ourselves later
# just what we've done "# Add old stable and wheezy backports for DB 4.8 etc."
# followed by 2 older repositories.
#
# NOTE: look at the last two "echo" commands - see where it says
# "echo 'deb http://ftp.au.debian.org/debian/ oldstable main'" and so on?
# I use .au because I'm an Australian located in Queensland and that's closest.
# You could change ftp.au.blabla to your own country code for better service.
# Debian's mirror list is here: https://www.debian.org/mirror/list
# Copy the command into your text editor (type gedit and press return to open it)
# paste in the sample command, edit in your country code, ctrl-a then ctrl-c to
# select and copy it again, close without saving and paste your modified command into
# the terminal and execute by pressing return.

Code:
echo '' >> /etc/apt/sources.list && echo '# Add old stable and wheezy backports for DB 4.8 etc.' >> /etc/apt/sources.list && echo '' >> /etc/apt/sources.list && echo 'deb http://ftp.au.debian.org/debian/ oldstable main' >> /etc/apt/sources.list && echo 'deb http://ftp.au.debian.org/debian/ wheezy-backports main' >> /etc/apt/sources.list

# Make the system aware of the changes

Code:
apt-get update

# Congratulations, you have just used your super powers to edit a system file Smiley
# That's enough for the moment though, so relinquish your super powers by typing exit

Code:
exit

# Now, everyone ready? Fine, let's begin. This is where we start adding software
# so we can build our lovely fresh and known clean CannabisCoin Qt wallet.

# Be tidy - make a home for our source code and move to that directory

Code:
mkdir src && cd src

# Download and install the other required packages.

Code:
sudo apt-get -y install git build-essential libtool autotools-dev autoconf  libssl-dev libboost-all-dev libdb4.8-dev libdb4.8++-dev libboost1.49-all-dev libminiupnpc-dev qt4-qmake qt4-dev-tools libqt4-dev libqtgui4 libprotobuf-dev protobuf-compiler libqrencode-dev

# Download the wallet source code

Code:
git clone https://github.com/cannabiscoindev/cannabiscoin420

# Move to the correct directory to compile our wallet

Code:
cd cannabiscoin420

# Now we set our desired options and generate the makefile, which is the instruction
# set for the compiler.

# To use UPnP for port forwarding behind a NAT router (recommended, as more connections
# overall allow for a faster and more stable user experience) set USE_UPNP=1

# USE_UPNP=0 to compile support for port forwarding but have it turned off by default,
# users can turn on in wallet options.

# USE_UPNP=- to compile without UPnP support, not sure why you'd do that.

# Notification support for recent Ubuntu family desktops is provided with USE_DBUS=1.

# QR codes are enabled with USE_QRCODE=1, USE_QRCODE=0 to compile without QR code support.

# The following should be completely safe as is or you can change the following command
# to suit your desired options.

Code:
qmake USE_UPNP=1 USE_QRCODE=1 USE_DBUS=1 BDB_LIB_SUFFIX=-4.8

# Now that our makefile has been written for us we simply execute the make command to
# build our CannabisCoin wallet

Code:
make

# When your prompt returns you know it worked or it will tell you if not.
# We'll move the executable to a directory on the path so we can run it at will

Code:
sudo mv CannabisCoin-qt /usr/bin

# We should just make our new wallet welcome

Code:
mkdir ~/.CannabisCoin && mv cannabiscoin.conf ~/.CannabisCoin

# Optionally we can add even more nodes to those originally listed in the config file,
# although the wallet will connect perfectly well without them. These last 3 were not
# included in the original file:

Code:
echo "addnode=seed4.cannabiscoin.net" >> ~/.CannabisCoin/cannabiscoin.conf && echo "addnode=seed5.cannabiscoin.net" >> ~/.CannabisCoin/cannabiscoin.conf && echo "addnode=cann.cryptoservices.net" >> ~/.CannabisCoin/cannabiscoin.conf

# Also optional, the following command will place a shortcut link on the desktop. If
# you prefer you can simply open a terminal and type CannabisCoin-qt at the command
# prompt to run your CannabisCoin wallet at any time.

Code:
ln -s /usr/bin/CannabisCoin-qt ~/Desktop

# Can't see Computer, home, trash etc. on the desktop? No problem, just change a
# setting or two - open the Applications menu => System Tools => Preferences =>
# Advanced Settings, that will open a separate dialogue, click Desktop and then
# turn on "Have file manager handle the desktop", which is needed to display items
# on the desktop.

# If you have started your wallet please stop it now - we are going to speed up the
# block chain sync by importing a bootstrap file.

#
# I hate this section - users should not be downloading anything from a random like me!
#
# Please note that the same bootstrap.dat file is available from CannabisCoin's
# core developer, Esotericism, via bittorrent - if you are comfortable with
# torrents the address is

# We will now download a bootstrap file. Its purpose is to dramatically speed up
# synchronization of the wallet block chain by providing a local source of blocks
# up to January 23, 2015. You don't have to do so but you'll be glad if you do.

# We will use our browser to download the bootstrap file from mega. The
# default browser is called IceWeasel on Debian (it's still just Firefox rebranded)

# The next command will open your web browser and go to the appropriate mega
# download page, click the download button when it is offered.
# The file will download to your Downloads folder by default. Once it finishes close
# the browser and your prompt will return to the terminal window.

Code:
iceweasel 'https://mega.co.nz/#!PZwzDLjR!YBVtMBegci1-o2z9d5_m69EhQ3fobkl77CLNDE0PcA0'

# After it finishes downloading we'll move it to where we want it and unpack it with
# the next two commands.

Code:
mv ~/Downloads/bootstrap.dat.845K.zip ~/.CannabisCoin

Code:
cd ~/.CannabisCoin && unzip bootstrap.dat.845K.zip && cd

# Now that we no longer need our downloaded zip file we can remove it.

Code:
rm ~/.CannabisCoin/bootstrap.dat.845K.zip

# OK, all being well we can now sync CannabisCoin so either click your desktop shortcut
# or execute the following command in the terminal.
# Tip: if you do run from the terminal open another terminal window so you can proceed
# while the wallet is running - the prompt won't return to the 1st terminal instance
# until the initiated process finishes, that means until you close your CANN-qt wallet.

Code:
CannabisCoin-qt

# Depending on the speed of your computer syncing the blockchain could take some time.

# Tests run on a virtual machine hosted on a 2009-vintage core2 duo permitted just
# one cpu took more than 3 hours to complete.

# ******* IMPORTANT NOTE FOR DEBIAN USERS ********
#
# There is a non-critical flaw in Debian builds of the Qt wallet - one a lot of people
# apparently never find but it could be annoying if you are not forewarned.
#
# Opening child windows from the wallet, e.g. "Show QR Code" does not add close
# window controls to the child instance. This may leave users wondering how to
# get rid of the window once they are finished with it.
#
# The simple answer is alt-F4, alternatively right-click the title bar on the child
# instance and select the close menu item.
#
# This seems to be an odd Debian quirk, one I haven't yet found elsewhere.
# Just another way Debian users are special, I guess Wink

# If you wish to save drive space you may remove the entire src directory we made
# earlier, which will remove no-longer required source code.

# Optional

Code:
rm -Rf ~/src

# After updating is complete we can ditch the now-redundant bootstrap file, which
# the wallet renamed .old when it was finished with it.

Code:
rm ~/.CannabisCoin/bootstrap.dat.old

WANT TO INSTALL CANNABISCOIN-QT ON UBUNTU, JUST NOT SURE HOW?

Let's see if we can change that Smiley

NOTE: while Ubuntu is Debian-based these instructions are not quite enough for Debian, which I'll cover in the next tutorial.

The following was written as a stand-alone text file, only slightly modified for posting here.

#####################################################
#
# This file contains the sequence for building CannabisCoin wallets on
# ubuntu systems. Builds were successfully completed on Ubuntu LTS
# versions 12.04.5 and 14.04.1; Linux Mint 17.1.
#
# Corrections, suggestions and comments are welcome and should be directed to
# b4zz4.code@yahoo.com or you can PM me here on bct.
#
# Good luck and may the source be with you Wink
#
#####################################################

# Open a terminal - Ubuntu users can simply press control-alt-t
#
# Now, everyone ready? Fine, let's begin. This is where we start adding software
# so we can build our lovely fresh and known clean CannabisCoin Qt wallet.
#
# Select and copy the listed commands and paste them into the terminal - then
# press the enter or return key to execute the command. Your prompt will
# not return until the commands have completed execution so just wait for them.
#
# Tip: you can paste into the terminal either via the keyboard with shift-ctrl-v
# or with right-click => paste.

# Be tidy - make a home for our source code and move to that directory

Code:
mkdir src && cd src

# We are going to add a bitcoin repository to grab the required version of BerkeleyDB

Code:
sudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:bitcoin/bitcoin && sudo apt-get update

# Download and install required packages. The next block of text is a single command
# so make sure you copy all of it from "sudo" to "libqrencode-dev"

Code:
sudo apt-get -y install build-essential git qt4-qmake libqtcore4 libqtgui4 libqt4-dev libboost-dev libboost-system-dev libboost-filesystem-dev libboost-program-options-dev libboost-thread-dev libssl-dev libdb4.8++-dev libminiupnpc-dev libqrencode-dev

# A lot of things will scroll by as the package manager installs what we just asked
# it to - that is what we want and expect to happen.

# USE_UPNP=0 to compile support for port forwarding but have it turned off by default, users can turn on in wallet options.

# Because we are linking against a specific BerkelyDB version we will use
# BDB_LIB_SUFFIX=-4.8

# The following should be completely safe as is or you can change the following command
# to suit your desired options.

Code:
qmake USE_UPNP=1 USE_QRCODE=1 USE_DBUS=1 BDB_LIB_SUFFIX=-4.8

# Now that our makefile has been written for us we simply execute the make command
# to build our CannabisCoin wallet

Code:
make

# When your prompt returns you know it worked or it will tell you if not.
# We'll move the executable to a directory on the path so we can run it at will

Code:
sudo mv CannabisCoin-qt /usr/bin

# We should just make our new wallet welcome

Code:
mkdir ~/.CannabisCoin && mv cannabiscoin.conf ~/.CannabisCoin

# Optionally we can add even more nodes to those originally listed in the config file,
# although the wallet will connect perfectly well without them. These last 3 were not
# included in the original file - as before copy and paste the whole text block:

Code:
echo "addnode=seed4.cannabiscoin.net" >> ~/.CannabisCoin/cannabiscoin.conf && echo "addnode=seed5.cannabiscoin.net" >> ~/.CannabisCoin/cannabiscoin.conf && echo "addnode=cann.cryptoservices.net" >> ~/.CannabisCoin/cannabiscoin.conf

# If you have started your wallet please stop it now - we are going to speed up the
# block chain sync by importing a bootstrap file.

#########################################
#
# I hate this section - users should not be downloading anything from a random like me!

# We will use our browser to download the bootstrap file from mega. The

# After it finishes downloading we'll move it to where we want it and unpack it
# with the next two commands.

Code:
mv ~/Downloads/bootstrap.dat.845K.zip ~/.CannabisCoin

Code:
cd ~/.CannabisCoin && unzip bootstrap.dat.845K.zip && cd

# Now that we no longer need our downloaded zip file we can remove it.

# Optional

Code:
rm ~/.CannabisCoin/bootstrap.dat.845K.zip

# OK, all being well we can now sync CannabisCoin so either click your desktop shortcut
# or execute the following command in the terminal.

# Tip: if you do run from the terminal open another terminal window so you can proceed
# while the wallet is running - the prompt won't return to the 1st terminal instance
# until the initiated process finishes, that means until you close your CANN-qt wallet.

Code:
CannabisCoin-qt

# Depending on the speed of your computer syncing the blockchain could take some time.

# cpu took more than 3 hours to complete.

# If you wish to save drive space you may remove the entire src directory we made

UBUNTU 12.04 on a USB with pre-installed CannabisCoin wallet software

Note: this ready-to-go USB flash drive image is for people who do not wish to compile their own CannabisCoin software from the git repository, for which I have posted tutorials for Ubuntu and Debian. Compiling your own wallet on Linux is definitely preferable to downloading one built by some random (that would be me, in case you missed it Wink).

What is this?

It is an image of an Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS installation, complete with a ready-to-use CannabisCoin wallet, zipped and ready to download and copy to an 8Gb or larger USB flash drive with Mac/Linux dd or Windows HDD raw copy. Mac users may also wish to consult "How to Boot a Linux Live USB Drive on Your Mac"

Instructions for expanding the image partition to make use of additional space on larger flash drives can be found here.

Please note that this is an UNOFFICIAL CannabisCoin wallet build compiled by B4zz4. The blockchain data is synced to about midnight (GMT) Saturday, February 7th, 2015.

Download does NOT include wallet.dat (you can copy in your own if you wish or simply run the wallet to create a new one).

Why would you want one?

Simple, boot into a clean operating environment to store/transfer your CannabisCoin with much reduced risk of malware and/or key loggers pilfering your coins. Provided you do not browse the web or download anything but keep the CANN USB solely for transacting your CannabisCoin business you are at very little risk of theft.

ALWAYS keep multiple copies of your wallet.dat file in multiple secure locations - USBs are not forever and will fail eventually. When the inevitable occurs simply construct a new USB copy, add a copy of your wallet.dat and you are back in business.

Where to get it?

cann1204.dd.zip has been uploaded on mega - if there is enough demand I'll see what I can do about a torrent although my upload speed is appallingly slow (as the poor people trying to download bootstrap.dat at the moment will likely attest).

How do you use it?

To begin with you need a functional computer and a spare 8Gb or larger USB. Any files on the USB will be destroyed so don't use one containing anything you want to keep.

Once you have downloaded the 3.2Gb zip file you need to unzip it to any suitable location. You will need at least 8Gb of free space to do so.

I tried in a Windows 7 VM and even Windows can extract cann1204.dd so that shouldn't cause any problems.

Windows users will need to download HDD Raw Copy Tool if they don't already have it.

Check carefully that you select cann1204.dd as the source and your USB as the target. BE WARNED THAT THIS SOFTWARE WILL OVERWRITE YOUR HARDDRIVE IF THAT IS WHAT YOU TELL IT TO DO!

Linux users open a terminal and run "sudo fdisk -l" to list drives and identify your target USB, if you only have one HDD your USB will likely be /dev/sdb.

Then it is simply a matter of "sudo dd if=[path to cann1204.dd] of=[path to USB] bs=1M", it will look something like "sudo dd if=~/Downloads/cann1204.dd of=/dev/sdb bs=1M" without the quotes. If your distribution complains about bs=1M then use bs=1m.

Mac users have slightly more to do but not much.

Open a terminal and run "sudo diskutil list" to identify your USB (run it before and after inserting your USB if you have difficulty telling one from another).

Then run "diskutil unmountDisk /dev/diskN" (replace N with the disk number from the last command).

Now run "sudo dd if=[path to cann1204.dd] of=/dev/rdiskN bs=1m" (we are using /dev/rdiskN instead of /dev/diskN because it may be faster). Same deal as before, if your particular version does not like bs=1m use bs=1M.

If you get a "resource busy" error it likely means you forgot to unmount the USB, do so now using Disk Utility.app (Finder => Applications => Utilities => Disk Utility.app). DO NOT EJECT THE DRIVE - UNMOUNT IT.

Everyone

Once you have copied cann1204.dd to your USBs you can eject the USB, it is ready to use.

If you know how to use a bootable USB you can go ahead when ready.

If not then there's a simple tutorial on booting from a USB here.

People with different keyboard needs should not change their password until after you change your keyboard settings.

The supplied user name is cann with the default password of YesWeCann
. You are going to need to change that for the sake of simple security. The system is set for automatic login and cann has administrative rights.

NOTE: If your keyboard will not type "YesWeCann" then copy it to the clipboard and paste it into the terminal with right click => paste or with ctrl-shift-v when the time comes.

YOU MUST SET YOUR LOCAL TIMEZONE BEFORE YOU START THE WALLET WHEN YOU BOOT FOR THE FIRST TIME - THE USB IMAGE WAS CREATED IN QUEENSLAND AND EXPECTS LOCAL TIME TO BE GMT+10 - THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR SYNCHRONISATION OF THE BLOCKCHAIN.

Click the following image to go to a brief tutorial on changing the time and date settings in Ubuntu:

I'm trying to do this pictorially for the benefit of those for whom their first language is other than English. They will need to change their language and keyboard settings.

Add the necessary keyboard files:

Add the necessary language support:

Once you have the right keyboard and language set it is time to change your password, so open a terminal by pressing ctrl-alt-t or by clicking on that big button at the top-left of the screen and type terminal (you'll be offered a terminal before you type the whole word).

In the terminal type "passwd" without the quotes (make sure you remember your password - you are the only one who can change or reset it):

You will need to enter "YesWeCann" without the quotes and then your chosen password twice. You won't be able to see the characters as you type them.

Don't worry if you make a mistake entering your new password, the worst that can happen is that your password will not change:

Just type "passwd" again and try again.

OK, you have set your local time, your keyboard is correct and system menus and messages are in the language you are comfortable with, you just want to copy in your wallet.dat file and you are good to go... but where?

Linux hides many settings and data directories by preceding their name with a period - to show them in the file manager press ctrl-h or go to "View" => "Show Hidden":

and all will be revealed:

Go ahead, open up .CannabisCoin and see that there is no wallet.dat there (there will be either when you put one there or start your wallet, whichever comes first - if the wallet finds no wallet.dat file it will create a new one for you).

Alright, you want to get on with it. You have a few choices in how you open your wallet, you can click on the CannabisCoin icon in the bar at the left:

Or start typing cannabiscoin in the Dashboard:

And a familiar splash screen will open:

This might persist for a while as it rescans the blockchain, just let it do so and then it will connect to the network and sync.

Hopefully the above has been sufficient to help you get started with your own fairly safe environment from which to make your CannabisCoin transactions.

Anyone having trouble can PM me here or email me at b4zz4.code@yahoo.com.

In the meantime good luck everyone, have fun and smile.

Total coin supply - unchanged.

Coins held by rich list - unchanged.

Intent of coin - unchanged.

IF it were true, the worst case would be ... that ∆9 had more cash at his disposal to expand his grow base even faster? Gosh, wouldn't that be terrible?  Roll Eyes

The man's spending a literal fortune getting grow licenses and establishing grows and your huge conspiracy is he "might" have moved BTC10 worth of coins?

There Jamie, I've fixed it for you by removing the absurd portions.

What you don't seem to get is that nothing changes whether your fevered imaginings had any foundation or not. I find it hard to believe you that stupid so I attribute your posts to nefarious motive, though I fail to see your gratification.

You claim altruism and then spend all your time trying to drive down the value of people's CANN holdings - I'm sure they appreciate that. You created and keep trying to maintain the fuss that saw some of the initial 100-million cap X11 coins destroyed and now want to claim that as a potential problem.

Are you clinging to this in the hope of some sort of eventual vindication to prove your twin brother and his coin group's kicking you loose in embarrassment wrong?

Sorry kid but there are enough of us who care enough about the Yes We CANN movement and mmj patients to see that the coin continues from strength to strength. Get another hobby, perhaps something constructive. You'll be much happier.

Hahahahaha  Cheesy

That's wonderful! We go from this:

Nice little run-up to 1244 today, don't see anything to explain it though.

Dude, What's not to understand? D9 made 2000 BTC on the last pump n dump. Now he has bought all his coins back at 95% off, so only 100 BTC to get them all back. D9 is back on bitcointalk. D9 is trying to pump n dump the shit out of this coin again on 420! DUH. It looks like it's going to work out well for anyone who was accumulating CANN at 1000 over the past months.

To

The block timestamp of the transaction is 2014-08-13 23:55:16. (5th day after CANN is accepted to bittrex exchange)

Sent to bittrex: 465,300.0 CANN
Sent to bittrex: 1,000,080.0 CANN

Daily statistic for bittrex on August 13.

Lets just give the daily medium: .00000706
.00000706 x 1,465,380CANN = 10.3455 BTC
If sold at the peak price for that day of .00001199 he could have made upwards of 17.57BTC ($9930,46)

The man's spending a literal fortune getting grow licenses and establishing grows and your huge conspiracy is he "might" have moved BTC10 worth of coins?

OMG! Who can you tell? Who can you telephone? Hahahahahahahahaha

Go to sleep Jamie.

The fact is that the coins were likely paid out as a bounty

What will we do in that case.

Do in what case MG? Even if jamesonotc's fantasies were based in fact what do you believe would change? Strip his hand-waving and what do you see?

Total coin supply - unchanged.
Coins held by rich list - unchanged.
Daily coin turnover - unchanged.

All of this information was discovered by myself with breadcrumbs dropped by the dev,

No Jamie, it's a bunch of supposition and assertion on your part (yes, I've seen it and followed the blockchain - boring!).

What the blockchain shows is that the coins were generated in the changeover premine (well duh).

What were they worth when they were paid out Jamie boy? And what was the then-going rate for say, hosting 5 seeds for a year? Or maybe coding a conversion? In fact what was the $ value of anything needed in the legitimate construction of a coin and how many CANN did that equate to on the day?

If you "investigated" then you had to have all that information and much more. And you know all the bounties paid and to whom, right?

So James, what was CANN trading at when the coins over which you obsess were initially transferred and what was the then-value of both BTC and the US$?

All you have is the fact coins were transferred multiple times before being transferred to Bittrex and presumably sold. Ooo-ooh! Exciting... not.

Stop trying to frighten newbies and small holders with your nonsense assertions. Even your own coin group has asked you to cease and desist as tokyopotato posted here himself.

Enough child! Go play somewhere else.

I'm not sure if you're trying to make sinister/untrue/fud accusations, or if there's evidence that D9 made 2,000 bitcoin from the last pump (not sure if there would be anything wrong with that or not) but either way I hope you're right about a pump coming because I've got a substantial (to me) number of coins. I plan to hold long term but it would be nice to get out of the red and maybe reduce my average cost to 0 Smiley

He's spouting that same nonsense about coins traced to the initial block where the swap coins were created (every outstanding coin from the scrypt mining days had to be reproduced for the X11 chain). As the conspiracy theory goes a large chunk of coins from those days were moved to Bittrex and traded during the pump around the October 20th event, supposedly by ∆9.

The fact is that the coins were likely paid out as a bounty for work done during the changeover when the coins had little to no value ($100 would have bought you hundreds of thousands of CANN back then). Whoever had them wisely kept them and sold during the pump (good for them).

Regardless, ∆9 has explicitly stated it wasn't him, even though he would be perfectly entitled to recover some of his costs incurred to date.

Someone must expect CANN will perform well as first crops approach and wants to accumulate on the cheap, hence the recycling of this garbage.

I recommend that people holding CANN not give their impending profits to manipulators and mud-slinging smear-merchants.
