Casascius should release a line of peppermint shaped like his physical bitcoins.

He would call them: "Minted bitcoins".

(Fake edit: Bonus points if they contain working holograms)

0.1 calorie & 0.1 btc per mint

BTW, I heard there was inside cover space on the bitcoin magazine - considering coming up with something to put there.  Still available?  Don't know where I read it.

Incredible! Regardless of whether they scan and can actually be loaded, I would buy some!  How much for one container?
382  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Proposed: We Should Hire Respectable White Hats to Audit Bitcoin's Security on: February 04, 2012, 01:05:37 AM
So there should be bounties for successful attacks on the test network (not consisting of 50%+ hashing rates).

I support this idea.
383  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Proposed: We Should Hire Respectable White Hats to Audit Bitcoin's Security on: February 03, 2012, 10:40:47 PM

There are challenges in organizing an audit as the commons, but I imagine high net worth bitcoiners, who have a vested interest in the security of the protocol, could be convinced.

I'll put 10BTC towards this, personally.  Who else is in?

Ugh... I am looking forward to seeing the magazine, but what a fucking pompous title for this thread...

Good point. Changed.

Thank you.

Why should someone trust you, as a completely new user, to repay?
387  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Proposed: We Should Hire Respectable White Hats to Audit Bitcoin's Security on: February 03, 2012, 06:26:01 PM

As a matter of fact, bitcoin would _greatly_ benefit from having actual professional
cryptographers doing not only BIP reviews, but also trying to devise actual attacks
against the whole system.

Can't we hire respectable white hats to do a professional audit (with pledges)?

I would be interested in funding this. And, Gavin thinks it is a good idea.

Good idea. Who wants to volunteer to do the fundraising and organize this, and let me know how I can help?

Who has experience with white-hat security firms?  Who should we approach?  How much would it cost?
388  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Flexcoin Payments went out on: February 03, 2012, 05:59:24 PM
This is meaningless, and makes me continue to think your business is a joke.

I love the level of support people give for bitcoin businesses...  lol!

What is the interest rate return that you distributed?

The nice thing about bitcoin is that you can secure them yourself without the need for a bank.  You are trying to make a bitcoin bank, so unless you are returning a good rate, I don't see the point of your business.

And from the fact that you are not forthcoming with your rate of return, I am guessing it is not that impressive.  Prove me wrong?

Fair enough.
390  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Open Source Projects Survive Poisonous People on: February 03, 2012, 09:59:45 AM

This cannot be decided on personal issues.  The BIPs affecting the block chain must be rigorously documented and subjected to qualified peer review.  Precedent should be referenced and relevant.

This is the only useful thing you said, and unfortunately we have had a grand total of
zero qualified reviews of either of the BIPs: neither Gavin nor the lunatic qualify
in that regard.

As a matter of fact, bitcoin would _greatly_ benefit from having actual professional
cryptographers doing not only BIP reviews, but also trying to devise actual attacks
against the whole system.

I would help fund this.

Mine is intended to be distracting Smiley

I know.  So is mine, haha.

Just kidding... I don't gamble when I owe other people money  Lips sealed

Haha.
393  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why the pessimism? on: February 03, 2012, 12:07:17 AM
There are always alarmist threads in speculation...  This isn't new; this is business as usual.

This is the worst subforum to get trading advice  Cheesy
394  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hacking, the FBI and SolidCoin on: February 03, 2012, 12:03:06 AM
... accusing Gavin Andreson of supporting efforts for the Banks to take over the operation of BitCoin and of colluding with the FBI and CIA to undermine the privacy of the system. They also accuse the development team in general of allowing the code to stagnate, something I have to agree with as it seems the protocol isn't been evolved to keep up with the needs of the network (the focus seems to be on developing the API for e-commerce), especially in regards to security, though I am no code monkey so I could be wrong.

I'm wearing a tin-foil hat, and I approve this message.

But really, SolidCoin is just flinging FUD all over whoever he can.  The king of SolidCoin effectively owns and controls the value of the entire SolidCoin economy, so he has a large incentive to try to pull as many crypto-curious types over to his little sphere as possible.  I will be surprised if his project lasts to the end of 2011.
395  Other / Meta / Proposal: Limit font size in signatures to 10pt or less on: February 02, 2012, 09:19:32 PM
Look at my signature.  Isn't it obnoxious?  Lets limit font size in signatures, so it is less prominent than the actual content of the thread.

There are several other users with large font signatures, and I find it very distracting.  Does anyone else agree?
396  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTS] Humble Bundle for Android - Discounted on: February 02, 2012, 08:50:26 PM
Click "Increase your order amount" in the download page for the bundle.
You should be able to see your current total in dollars under the first step, so you'll know if the seller is ripping you off or not.

Ooh, good catch.

I would suggest you read this article before talking to him: http://www.libertariannews.org/2011/06/21/against-the-gold-standard/

Great article, thanks.  Just bought currency wars, which I am looking forward to reading..
398  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Flexcoin Payments went out on: February 02, 2012, 07:55:29 PM
Payments went out to flexcoin account holders today.

It was a somewhat larger payment than normal due to the higher levels of transactions.

Larger than normal?  Does that mean 1BTC split 100 ways, up from 0.5BTC?

This is meaningless, and makes me continue to think your business is a joke.
399  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Open Source Projects Survive Poisonous People on: February 02, 2012, 07:08:57 PM
Where is Bruce Wagner on this one?  This is great material for TV!
Bruce was convicted of fraud, he likes prostitutes, and his show is painfully slow.  Let's leave him out of this.
