381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Need a mining pool for FST (Fastcoin) - Be the 1st one and get most users! on: May 29, 2013, 07:26:37 AM
The coin had 6 pages in 4+ hours.  I will give it a day or two until it is sent into the abyss.
lol, do a simple math. This one has 20% more than WDC, and WDC till today has no problem. Moreover, FST with instamine prevention algorithm, prevents extra blocks being distributed in short time, while WDC was instamined a lot at the beginning. With this, I don't see any problems there.

Lol, people already have WTS 10,000 fastcoin ads here and I haven't seen a single block, all stales for almost 3 hours.

Works for me, found its first block, also paid me.

Set to 1% fee - but still paid my miners everything. So fee is probably 0%.

Come and try it out!

well you have to know what you're getting into. I think there is no problem with the code, it worked fine for me on my computers. But those VPS servers suck big time. Cheesy However it found its first block on the VPS already, and nobody's connected but myself.

my server sucks, but I put up a pool here:

http://84.200.206.231:9771/static/

set up a backup pool in cgminer. my server stinks Sad

/edit/ it may be having a good hour right now. pool looking rather smooth, also found its first block with only 1,5 mh/s.
385  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Need a mining pool for FST (Fastcoin) - Be the 1st one and get most users! on: May 29, 2013, 06:55:33 AM
put it up on my SUPER SUCKY VPS now:

84.200.206.231:9771

you can try if you cannot mine solo anyway. payout worked for me, but the problem will be that the server is slower than a cell phone -> stales stales stales.

don't use http://host-unlimited.de/ - it's a joke Cheesy

fee is set to 1% but did not seem to work - when mining myself there was a 0% fee, i.e. my miners got all the reward.
386  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Need a mining pool for FST (Fastcoin) - Be the 1st one and get most users! on: May 29, 2013, 06:50:13 AM
I have one set up on my notebook for more than an hour now, but I just can't get all the firewalls down so that everyone could access it. I don't have a server that can handle it.
Fuck this. Too many firewalls in provider/router/OS. Sad

I rented a server for mining pool purposes but it sucks so bad that most of the time typing a simple character can take up to 300 seconds. even without any load it is slower than my first computer with 166 mhz. sucky service. don't know where to get good VPS for mining pools with good connection. Sad

I wish worldcoin or this or digitalcoin, one of those with fast confirmations, would be accepted on all cryptotrades and keep a steady value. for traders it is just too useful to actually be able to transfer between exchanges without waiting forever.

miniforking all the time due to low block target. getting fully confirmed blocks that still get orphaned. lulz

398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 7790 or 7950 ? on: May 29, 2013, 01:56:28 AM
I would still go with some 7950s for versatility. Just make sure they can be undervolted.

My 3xSapphire OCs can do:

Scrypt 1820 kh/s - 770 W out of the wall
Scrypt 1720 kh/s - 600 W out of the wall
Scrypt 1660 kh/s - 570 W out of the wall (favorite on hot summer days)

SHA256 1720 kh/s - 530 W ouf ot the wall (clock memory down to 155 mhz, originally 1250 mhz)

since ASICs are there/coming, the point of graphics card should be the versatility.
399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why all these coins have low starting difficulties on: May 29, 2013, 01:36:23 AM
the right way to do it would be to set REALLY low starting block rewards - everybody who did this before was still setting it high enough to rake in all the blocks and get filthy rich themselves - remember that the creators most likely have the best ping to the first nodes.

VERY LOW starting block rewards (up until 8000 blocks or so) would give low incentive to mine and probably encourage 51% attacks. The community would have to mine it anyway out of the belief that a fair start is possible. By the time rewards became useful, a few pools would be up already.

Someone should start up a shakezula clone with:

-fast enough block reward to not be called slow
-nice logo
-announce it a few days ahead
-release on a saturday to sunday time where all continents can be awake
-nice logo, nice name, nice twitter bootstrapped / copycat website
-send some pool guys the ADDRESS and NSUBSIDY values beforehand
-provide all binaries at release, from non-shitty hosters with mirrors
-don't fucking miss your announced date
-VERY low initial block rewards (1-10% of target block reward through the first few thousand blocks)

voilą, that's all it takes to get a shot at a truly fair start where the dev doesn't get filthy rich, nobody tries it out of greed, I don't have enough time this week but if the coin releases stay INCREDIBLY SHITTY as is I might still have enough time later...

awesome tutorial. lots to learn for yourself, and will help accelerate the rejection rate of shitcoins.
