3801  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Wrong Bets !!! on: March 08, 2023, 03:09:12 PM
Today morning received the weeks payment. I had the payment of the previous week. Altogether it was around 0.0055 in the wallet. The first bet was planned to be 0.0005BTC. Instead of placing 0.0005BTC, I misplaced 0.005BTC and the bet was lost. This was completely unexpected and it is my fault. If the bet have won my wallet balance could've turned 0.007BTC, now it is an empty wallet.

Have any of you encountered such wrong bets and won/lost Huh

I can’t say that I have ever accidentally bet the wrong amount. The platform is pretty straightforward and easy to use. I would suggest that if this is a problem for you, maybe you should change the currency to USD instead of crypto that way it’s more clear exactly how much you are betting in terms that you’re used to seeing. Hope that helps.

Now the Lakers are in the play-in tournament and we never expected this one to happen in their last games with Westbrook as soon as they released him, they managed to play well even without Lebron. AD is doing well these past few games and they are coming to get that number 6 slot if they continue to win in their next games as well. They can really do well even when they are only a few stars on the court and seems like AD is finding his right rhythm while playing today even though he injured his nose but he continues to dominate the game.

Anthony Davis definitely got it done tonight. The Lakers hot streak continues as they look to make the playoffs. I’m pretty impressed with how well they’ve been doing without LeBron James. No idea when he’ll be back but I imagine when he does the Lakers will be a team to contend with. Playoff bound it seems.

Take a look at Kuzma bricking a three while trying to give his best Steph Curry impression. Making matters worse, the ball bounced right where he was and he missed the rebound due to his antics.

https://twitter.com/bleacherreport/status/1633288877543915521

Kuz definitely isn’t Steph Curry and it shows. This gives you a little bit more respect for Steph being able to pull this off so often.

I’m watching this game on TNT between the Timberwolves and the 76ers and Joell Embiid and Anthony Edwards are having themselves game already in the first quarter. They are both on a pace to score over 40 points so that could be something to keep an eye on. Close game too. Definitely off to a good start for game one of the doubleheader.

Scott Foster must have had money on the Nuggets to win. That technical on Scottie Barnes at the end of the game was crazy. Even the other ref didn’t know what was going on. When he retires the NBA players will rejoice.

Funny that Giannis gave himself a rebound at the end of the Bucks game for a triple double.

The league rescinded the final rebound Giannis gave himself yesterday effectively taking away his triple double.  AI can't remember seeing this happen before in the NBA but it seems like the right thing to do.  I didn't see anything about rescinding the missed shot though.  Cheesy Probably a good thing for Giannis anyway as it might save him from some criticism for being a stat padder.  Say what you want about Westbrook or Jokic but I don't think this has ever happened to either of them.

Covid is the new biggest scam in human history. Unfortunately it is also a perfect example of the saying that it’s easier to scam someone than to convince someone they’ve been scammed. If you took a vaccine, sheltered in place, wore a mask, or avoided people as a result of this pandemic, then you were indeed scammed.

Honestly if I am one of those victims that have been waiting for my funds to get refunded and then I've received it, without any doubt that I'll spend it like there's no tomorrow so I'll totally sell all of it and if not all, then a large part of it.

Whatever is the reason with the sudden falling of bitcoin's price. Let's appreciate also the reasons why it has been up coming from the lowest that it had after the bull run of 2021 which made bitcoin $16k.

Every time we don't like the movement of the market, we're thinking a lot of things and that's no good for our own cause because it will just create a panic attack if you keep thinking about it.

I think it depends on the victim’s situation. There really isn’t a difference between having funds held by the gox bankruptcy and cold storage. Except the declining amount as a result of lawyers being paid. I imagine a lot of those victims stayed in Bitcoin and probably have other BTC they could sell if they wanted. I’m sure there are a couple whales who will dump but not everybody.

The Nuggets -6.5 over the Raptors is without doubt the bet of the week for me.

The Raptors are coming off a hard fought overtime win on the road against Washington. They now have to fly to Denver to take on a fully healthy and rested Nuggets team who are 29-4 at home.

I seriously cannot see why the line is only -6.5.

This is the best bet of the week for me and I will be putting a decent amount on it.
Thank you for this call mate, I've put a very small amount of money on this game and also on the -6.5 call, i am highly confident that just as you have predicted, this game would be an easy win for the Denver Nuggets.

But even just incase the unexpected happens, since we cant rule that out as long as gambling/betting is concerned, I bet an amount I can comfortably lose, so whatever be the outcome of this game, not a problem at all, ive learnt from previous experiences  Grin.

Seems like a good bet. I usually don’t like betting spreads because teams can be pretty relaxed at the end of games. I would agree though that if Denver is motivated they could be the Raptors by 10+ easily. You just have to hope they don’t let the Raptors creep up at the end and beat the spread. It’ll probably be up to the coach.

That Dallas Mavericks vs Phoenix Suns game might have been the best game of the year. Entertaining down to the wire and I’m glad the Suns got the win. Booker talking smack to Luka with 3 seconds left when they secured the sun was pretty weak, but still a great game.

Funny that Giannis gave himself a rebound at the end of the Bucks game for a triple double.

The calm before the storm. You can almost feel the fear and confusion in the air as volume has dried up after the latest flash drop. The bets are building which way the market will go, but I think as mentioned that this is the calm before the storm. I’m still under the belief that it’s highly likely we end the month close to $30K, but this latest disappearance in volume is slightly concerning. Buy when there’s fear though right?

Ja Morant, on the verge of making his deal official with Powerade and launching a major PR blitz is on Instagram live posing with guns like he’s some sort of street thug. I’m starting to get the feeling that this Ja Morant story is going to end badly. He’s too small and too sheltered to be acting like this. I worry he’s going to run into real trouble with this act.

Bleacher Report is now saying that the Grizzlies have suspended Ja Morant for the next two games over what happened on his Instagram Live. I guess he was at a night club when he was displaying his gun, which I don’t believe was legal. It will be interesting to see if he’s going to get some consequences from Powerade as a result of this.

Edit: Looks like his IG and Twitter accounts are now both suspended.

For tonight's picks I think I like a multi-bet parlay with the Magic, Celtics, Suns, Nuggets, Warriors, Kings, & Timberwolves.  I put a couple bucks on that as well as a few variations to see if I could make some magic happen tonight.  With the Celtics/Nets and Grizzlies/Nuggets both being on ESPN tonight, I figured I'd watch and make it a little interesting.  I'm already looking forward to the weekend though.  Sunday has a pretty good lineup of games starting with one that I've been waiting to see since I heard about the KD and Kyrie trades...  The Suns and the Mavericks are kicking things off Sunday morning on ABC.  Already excited.

Unfortunately your parlay would have been ruined by the team with probably the least odds for the night, for clarification I meant the Boston Celtics losing to the Brooklyn Nets from a situation that the Celtics are 30-1 in, that's for every game that they've lead by at least 20 points in the first quarter, I'm sure this one is also going down in their history.

The Brooklyn Nets finally defeats the Celtics in the NBA after 10 consecutive loss in this fixture, without KD, Kyrie, James Harden or even Ben Simmons, from being down by 28 points in the game, It's freaking surreal!

Ya, that was ridiculous. It took the biggest comeback of the year to ruin my parlay. Not gonna lie, I was feeling really confident about this one and put a few bucks behind it. I really thought I was about to hit it big. I honestly still can’t believe the comeback I saw as I watched the game. Oh well… I really wanted to show that winning slip though. Would have been epic.

In influencer boxing news… KSI just tweeted this:

“May 13th, I’ll do what Jake Paul couldn’t do.”

I assume that means KSI has lined up a fight with Tommy Fury and is saying that he’ll beat fury even though Jake Paul couldn’t. I sort of thought we’d be seeing a Fury rematch with Paul or even a new fight with Logan Paul, but maybe KSI is the one who got the call.

The Nets taking a slim 5 point lead against the Boston Celtics, and entering the 4th quarter.

I think this could be the night for the Nets to finally win one game, first quarter ended with 37-15 in favor of the Celtics. But the Nets come back huge in the 2nd and 3rd quarter to take that lead.

So let us see if they can pull a upset here as Boston is still the favorite even though they are trailing entering the last quarter.

Epic collapse on Boston’s part. They looked downright lazy in the second half. Not getting out to defend shooters and settling for terrible three pointers. I think they got a big lead and then just stopped trying. Tatum shot horribly from three point range and Marcus Smart was getting called for fouls left and right. Great comeback for Brooklyn.
3817  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: NFTs in the Bitcoin blockchain - Ordinal Theory on: March 03, 2023, 11:27:42 PM
I think if it were 2011 today, people would be trying to build on the Ordinals project, not trash it and say it's killing Bitcoin (think colored coins).
I can justify this little emotional burden of yours who's been here since the early days, but objectively speaking, peer-to-peer unstoppable cash is no close to bloating a network of computers with unnecessary information. We already have censorship resistant file sharing; it's called BitTorrent. This Ordinal thing proposes all users store all users' information instead, which is plain stupid and can't work in practice due to enormous storage costs. It's pretty clear to me that it's just quick profit.

Sure, right now it's a market that makes no sense.  I wouldn't buy an Ordinal for the art or the non-existent current use cases beyond look at these pretty sats...  However, as someone who has supported a community organization plagued with issues by 3rd parties disappearing or changing the rules when they get into positions of control, I think that Ordinals are a possible solution.  A way for organizations to operate as 'collections' and distribute to supporters via the tracking of sats.  I could envision access to websites being granted by signing a message with your wallet containing sats that can be identified as passes.  I could even see a messaging or voting system setup around this.  It could be awesome, but it would bloat the blockchain for sure.  This is why I have been pushing for merged mined sidechains to handle things like this for a long time.  I think the space will get there, as it's the logical solution that would meet everyone's needs.  For whatever reason people don't support merged mined chains yet though.  I blame the focus of core developers on the lightning network.  Maybe this will have people taking a second look at what could be possible to achieve without bloating the blockchain.  I always thought blockchains would be more useful as gears than layers and I still believe that's where we'll end up.

3819  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ATM Deposit Exchange Rate shocks on: March 03, 2023, 11:14:48 PM
From a quick glance and with limited knowledge of how Bitcoin ATMs work from the setup perspective, I assume that the person who owns the ATM set a pretty high fee and that fee is baked into the price for the end user.  Maybe this is done for simplicity or to hide the fees from the user so it seems like a fee-free experience, but regardless of what is to blame that receipt could give more information.  I can understand things on the screen trying to be as simple as possible and not have the user doing math to calculate fees, but to not show anything at all seems almost misleading.  Especially if it's built into the price and nothing else is shown.
3820  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: March 03, 2023, 07:48:47 PM
I'm glad that ESPN will be televising a couple games tonight.  The Grizzlies vs Nuggets game might be a good one to watch but I'm not sure I want to bet on it.  I'm leaning towards the Nuggets, but we'll see.  The Grizzlies are no joke this year.  I did hear that Ja Morant might be suspended, but I'm not sure if that's official or a rumor at this point.

The game I think might be a good bet tonight is the Celtics beating the Nets.  The Nets are in a bit of chaos at the moment after losing KD and Kyrie.  While they responded by playing well, I think the honeymoon is over and it's time that they accept they're in a rebuild.
