How I hate all these pathetic giveaway hunters...
They promise giveaways for follows, likes, exposure; so we jump on board. This is POS COIN
HOLDING THE FUCKING COINS MATTERS -- Currently the DEVS are holding most of the follow/like giveaway coins
and minting themselves.
I want to hold them with all the others I have mined to start to MINT.
Whats wrong with wanting somebody to hold up their end of an understanding?

so there is somebody like me that haven't received the giveaway yet...

- Lowered max CPU miner payments to 54 grc every 3 days

why this?Huh?

i don't understand! before, 150grc every day, now 54 grc every 3 days!! it's 12% of the previus payment!!!! bha...

i've red the other thread. no need of explanation.

a quick little poll:

we are currently working on the new wallet with new features built into it, are there any features you guys would like to see in it?

here are a few of the features that are going to be in feel free to let us know if there is anything more:
built in block explorer (so you can look up transactions and addresses)
a news/updates section so you can constantly see any news related to fckbanks
exchanges, so you can see the current price on the various exchanges where fckbanks is listed as well as links to them
mining, a list of pools with info so you don't have to look around to find a list of all the mining pools
also it will show the current amount of fcks mined total, the block reward, the network hashrate, as well as the current difficulty

anything else you guys would like to see?

price growing up - that's what i want to see

Hi Rob,

First let me say that you are doing an awesome work with Gridcoin.

I have being trying the new pool but I found something that I think it's not right, the pool is paying accordantly to shares submitted and is counting the overall shares since first day when we enter the pool, that makes very hard to climb our earnings and it's an disadvantage to someone entering the pool for the first time, or am I seeing something wrong?

Other thing is I can't get the scrypt sleep working for my GPU's If I select use always GPU on Boinc it will use them all the time even when they are at work, if I select never use GPU when scrypt sleep comes it will not process Boinc projects what am I missing were?

Thank you,

Joćo G.
Hi Joćo,
Im glad you like the pool, thanks.
On scrypt sleep, weve been trying to ensure a smooth start and after the last release moved it to 74000.  (The release notes were wrong).

On the pool newbie payments, the original intent was to base the pool on a 7 day lookback period (assessed off of last_seen), to give everyone pool competition who finds blocks.
The code does pay newbies based on 1 block divided by submissions, and I realize now that I see the stats they are really getting tiny amounts.

I will look into something more fair for newbies, maybe splitting 7% of the pool over the newbies instead of 1 block.
But anyway, I think the 7 day lookback itself is more fair for people finding blocks, as it is impossible to defraud the pool when you have mined blocks vs share submissions (ie higher integrity).

Grid

Hi Rob,

I think I didn't explained me quite well about what I was seeing...let me take another shot  Grin

Let's take for example Aesyrin, he as 49 blocks found so far and the last time he connected to pool was in 3/5/2014 2:04:04 PM, for every block found in pool he's receiving payments for it without contributing with shares.

So he can get two payments this way, because he can be solo mining receiving the entire block and get payments from pool for some days without being pool mining ( 7 days if I understand it right ).

Following this strategy one can do the same, being pool mining for 1 day or so, just to keep up the same share percentage at the pool and the following days being solo mining, I think this is not fair to no one.

Hope this helps.

Joćo G.

PS: Please don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to judge any one, just choose Aesyrin because it was the perfect example to explain what I'm seeing wrong about pool payments.

but if you keep stay in the pool, your payment will not become bigger?

Anyone having issues with beacons not being sent when cpu mining?

how much time did you wait? beacons are send every 72 hours..

4 computers, and it's been several days now.
If the 72 hours are reset every time I upgrade to the latest version of gridcoin, that's a complete joke since there are updates every other day.
I'd prefer it to be reverted back to daily beacons - waiting 3 days for a possible beacon is too long to wait to find out if you've set it up correctly.

I encourage you to write about it to https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/1331-new-coin-launch-announcement-grc-gridcoin/page-121

Rob reads that more than bitcointalk. I haven't had any problem but yes I think there should be some way to make sure everything is working with cpu mining. For me the beacons were send in an hour or so when I first started cpu mining. So I think something is still wrong with your configuration :/ Yep maybe encryption!

maybe in some next version can be add a countdown for the next beacons...

ok so there is pooled mining.. i have that tab open.. so is it better to pool mine or solo?

is cpu mining worth it if i have a gpu rig? or does the hashrate from cpu mining pale in comparison?

what is "GRC address" do i leave that blank?

Why don't you read the first post? There's a lot of information about the coin and also tutorials how to mine. I think this is the most profitable coin there is available and sure use all your cpu:s:

https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/1922-cpu-mining-tutorialtopic/

The idea is that you calculate boinc with cpu and get paid grc (max 150grc/day/pc). Very profitable. You can also solo mine and 3MH would get you quite a good amount of coins per day. Also pool mining is possible it's up to you.

http://explorer.gridcoin.us/
There's network hashrate and stuff..

thanks, and i did read. I know what the concept is, but it doesn't answer the questions I'm asking. i wasn't asking how to set it up, I already saw the tutorial.

Still no one answered if solo mining is better than pooled mining for this coin, or no difference?

Does mining this coin have the same power usage as regular scrypt coins? (currently mining darkcoin which uses only 50% of usual wattage and very little heat, so i'm looking for something efficient)

Does it matter what type of cpu you have? or do you get 150 grc regardless of what type of cpu? (I have 3930k and 4770k)

yes, it matter what type of cpu you have, but right now you can earn 150grc even with an old gpu (for example i use an AMD phenom II X4 945...).
To gain 150grc it's important to set your boinc's cpu utilizzation at 100%.

With your hashrate i think is better solo mining, but i may be wrong.

Gpu mining can have a lower power usage as regular scrypt coins. Some times your gpu will enter in sleep mode to save power....someone more expert can tell you how this is works!

I think that this is a really good coin, try it, really!

really good work!

in the few next days i will try pool mining, and i'm sure your guide will be very usefull!
3832  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Gridcoin (GRC) - first coin utilizing BOINC - Official Thread on: March 06, 2014, 08:13:04 PM
GPU minable grc and CPU minable grc are completely seperate distribution methods, so the above suggestion would only affect the gpu miners - it's effectively just taxing the gpu miners more.

Even with scrypt sleep, the 1000boinc point average can be acquired almost instantly with gpu miners. The difficulty should be raised to reflect the work load that gpu farms can handle.

On another note - how does cpu mining work? Is it that there are 75,000grc/day being distributed and it's evenly distributed between hosts according to how much boinc points they submit, to a max of 150grc/day per host?

Also, there should be options to both send a cpu mining beacon and to verify cpu mining is operational, because at the moment you've gotta wait 3 days before you know whether or not you've configured gridcoin correctly.

Do you need to set poolmining up for cpumining, or just cpumining=true in gridcoin.conf file?

Hi,

1. The utilization is calculated 50% from what your current CPU utilization is and 50% from your RACs.
2. We basically don't need to modify the 1000 RACs average that you stated because scrypt-sleep takes care of that. If you have a 100% utilization and your scrypt sleep is 50% then your total reward goes down, because you only hash 50% of the time. However, if you do have ~100k RACs, your scrypt sleep is 100% and even though you have the same 100% utilization as the other user, your reward is going to be a lot more because you hash all the time. The more RACs people have, the more RACs will people need to increase their scrypt sleep so they can hash longer and earn more rewards.
3. CPU mining - 576 blocks a day * 150GRC per block = 86400. That is the CPU mining coin cap. One host can earn a maximum of 150GRC/day and users compete with their RACs for the max reward. The more RACs you have, the more GRC you will earn a day up to a maximum of 150GRC/day per host.
4. Once you setup CPU mining and start your wallet, it checks when and if your beacons were sent and if not it sends them. So if you've never mined you don't need to wait 3 days, it sends them ~immediately...and then again after 3 days.
5. Just cpumining=true   poolmining is something different.

Here's a CPU mining tutorial.
https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/1922-cpu-mining-tutorialtopic/

Andrew.

is there any way to see how much time (in %) my scrypt sleep and how much time effectively i mine? where i can find this stats? thanks!

Dear Sir Halford,
where will you take us to?

First off, I am glad to sit in your boat.
I love to participate in science while mining.
Hence, I promote your project in many directions and at every occasion!

The network has come quite a way since October.
Yet, today I am confused - help me please.
Yesterday you stated that your main job needs your focus.
This was when you speculated on starting anew / creating one more project, for fun.
Please say that I got you wrong on that. Be our leader, be Grid.
New ideas might breed features, but don't fork your project and your community.

Back in Winter, I had the chance to swap a few sentences with you.
I asked for your project plans. You said, the chain was already safe for investment.
So, I placed some money and followed along, waving your flag.
Later, cpu rewards were introduced silently, no community decision, no transparent information politics. Evaluations started to tumble.

Meanwhile, more than a million new GRC spill into the network each week.
You could at least have halved the block reward since then, imho.
Did you consider to discuss this openly?

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate your eagerness.
Thus, may I kindly ask you to elaborate on your plans for Gridcoin,
to set some cornerstones fix and commit to them publicly?

Could we place full trust in your endavour?
I believe, trust is what an early community needs the most.
Continue to be innovative as we have grown to love you, but dont let disruption spoil the show.

Therefore, again, please don't take my words as an offense.
But, give us a landmark, hand some vision to refer to,
please.

Let your ppl start to celebrate with you! Smiley

I agree with you.  I also do not remember seeing a discussion about the cpu mining reward, which double the daily GRC output (576 daily block and 576 daily CPU). Halving reward would have been a very good option.

Increasing the difficulty via increasing the boinc points required to get the max 150grc/block should be seriously higher.
With a couple GPUs you can be pushing easy 100-300k boinc points on milkyway@home; it's far too easy to get the full block reward!

but if you can use only your cpu?
