That is because it contains cgminer, it is not a virus.

FYI:
The link for Gridcoin.zip on OP is broken while Gridcoin.msi is flagged by Antivirus as malicious.

Just got into Gridcoin, I love the idea behind it, doing something useful with all this CPU power opposed to just wasting it - good idea!

The wallet colour scheme on the other hand makes my eyes bleed  Shocked

Can we have a normal (non-black) colour scheme pretty please? I mean lime green fonts on light grey background?  Shocked

Welcome.

It's gonna be implemented an option to change scheme color in one of future updates Smiley

I think Rob is working on the new color scheme now so we should have something new soon, I agree the current one is not so good.

@gridcoin devs

Hey, I'm building an uber vmware rig at the moment. Do you want me to begin testing gridcoin across multiple versions of Windows and Linux?

Edit:
I could also write up basic test scripts for testing basic functionality for the public to submit their results, including regression test sets.

I believe i'm getting close to figuring out what's causing the "boinc md5: md5 error" error message in the mining console.

I've specified the correct appdata/install folder, removed read only permissions and think it might be caused by one of the following:

1. The removal of the media center windows features.
    I get the error on a fresh install of windows 7 thin pc - a version of windows that has unneccessary features and services removed, including the windows media center features.
    I've created two virtual machines running windows 7 after running into the same md5 error after removing the windows media center feature safely, and am hoping to recreate the error across the two VMs.

2. Setting the <ncpus> tag in app_config.xml in boinc too high. This setting allows you to set how many cpus for boinc to use, so boinc computes more modules at the same time. This could perhaps be messing with gridcoin, especially if it's trying to run more than one boinc item on the one core at the same time.. could be causing the md5 issue. Or it's triggering a cheating flag? :S

Either way, i'll attempt to replicate (1), then after x hours, i'll introduce (2) ontop of (1) to see if it forces the error.

edit:

Figured it out, if i specified the following lines (as instructed to in many gridcoin installation guides) it'd give me the md5 error:
boincappfolder=C:\Program Files\Boinc\
boincdatafolder=C:\ProgramData\Boinc\

So yeah, not using those two lines works for me : )
