3861  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Good investment or bad one? on: September 08, 2021, 05:32:43 PM
Would you invest 2000$ on a 140MH rig? Forget what the GPUs are I'm talking about MH wise, is this a good investment or a bad one?

I am ready to buy a RTX3070 (not LHR) at 1,600 CAD which gives in average 62.37 Mh/s to give you an idea!
$ 1,280 is a great price for this graphics card, but in the store you'll end up buying the LHR version.
In my country, 3070 non-LHR versions are currently on sale for $ 1900. Without a document and a guarantee, it can be a little cheaper.
If you show me where you can buy for your price, then I will sell these video cards Cheesy
3862  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Gaming or mining on laptops on: September 08, 2021, 05:25:06 PM
Which one kills laptops more faster? Mining or gaming? I read online that gaming on laptops have more demand on mobile GPU than mining and if you mine on the laptop only the laptop will live more longer than intense gaming, anyone have experience with laptop gaming and mining here?
Which laptop will last longer depends only on the user. If the laptop is from a professional, then he will buy the necessary cooling pad for the laptop and set up the mining correctly. If the laptop is used by a beginner, then he is more likely to break it.
If the gamer is nervous, and knocks on the table or laptop and spills liquid on the keyboard, then the chances are very small.
3863  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is this even safe? on: September 08, 2021, 05:24:20 PM

Same with GPUs going up in smoke. In the past what usually happened was I came home and rig was down. So I turned it back on and "BOOM" very loud noise and GPU released a big cloud of smoke, also smelled bad for an entire week. What happened was the GPU shorted out... PSU shut everything down and then I didn't know and restarted it anyways and it lead to the GPU blowing up.
This is a remote control problem. If after the second remote start the farm does not turn on, or turns off very quickly, then you need to do an osmosis and look for the cause.
Usually transistors explode, and other elements on the board burn.
I was more fortunate, for this reason I burned several power supplies, which turned out to be very good.
3864  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Am I wrong? on: September 08, 2021, 05:08:55 PM
The hashrate of the Ethereum network continues to grow, but this reduces the profit of all miners if the price of the coin rises in proportion to the growth of the hashrate. You can buy an ASIC for Ethereum, but what to do with it after changing the algorithm for Ethereum?
Now, so that the profit in mining does not fall, you need to constantly buy new equipment, but this also has its limit.
3865  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Question About Mining Returns on: September 08, 2021, 05:02:26 PM
I visited a guy, he mines ethereum and raven with 7 gpus. Investment was about 22k usd and he gets about 30 usd a day.

Looking at it, it will take 2 years and then it's autopilot income. What am I missing?
If his money is in the bank and does not bring profit, then this is a good investment, although not the best one.
He shouldn't be selling the secured cryptocurrency right now, but jing the rise in prices. If the Bull market continues for another six months, then during this time it will recoup half the cost of the equipment or more.
3866  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Chia official pools on: September 08, 2021, 04:53:23 PM
Pools you can find on this site
https://miningpoolstats.stream/chia
If you have less than 100 terabytes, then it is better not even to start mining solo. The network hashrate is growing, despite the decrease in profit, so it is better to join a large pool and hold the coin until better times.

3867  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Am I wrong? on: September 07, 2021, 05:36:59 PM
People keeps telling us to stop buying GPUs, thats because they care and don't want us to end up making mistakes they did years back where profits from mining because almost stupid and not worth the hassle but how will you feel if BTC manages to stay at high price for another several months? Won't you feel sad for not jumping in today? Another reason is crypto adoption since 2020 is something we've never seen before, I believe this is why bull season is still alive this long, am I wrong?
Video cards have always paid off longer than a good investment in cryptocurrencies.
If I buy a video card, I am calm, because the price of a video card does not drop by 50 percent per day.
I don't know how much cryptocurrency will cost at the end of the year, but I think it's too early to sell my coins.
3868  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Team Black Miner!(Ethereum, Ethereum classic, Vertcoin, Zilliqa + dual 0.5% fee) on: September 05, 2021, 05:34:30 PM
Ok, thanks for the answer.
Since I mainly use Hive OS, I cannot test your miner.
It seems to me that you need to focus your efforts so that your miner becomes available faster in popular mining operating systems.
3869  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Am I doing this right? on: September 05, 2021, 05:28:55 PM

This is how 5 year old video cards work after mining Ethereum. This is the maximum possible downvolt and overclocking, I can add more megahash, but I need stability.
I showed my old video cards here.
The fan speed of the graphics card depends on the quality of the cooling system.
If you save money and buy video cards with poor cooling, you will change the fans after 1-2 years.
But when there is such a profit, it doesn't matter.
3870  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Asking about 3060 card laptop mining (need help). on: September 05, 2021, 05:23:50 PM
Hey Guys,
I hope you are all good and doing well.

I am new here to this forum, and new to mining in general.
I wanna ask you about Laptop mining.
So currently I am thinking of purchasing ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15 GA503 model. The one that has Nividia 3060 RTX card.

Now I heard about the Nividia hash limiter and what so ever  Embarrassed. So is this limiter applies to Laptops cards as well? if so, what is the solution to this problem?  Huh
How many  MH/s should 3060 (Laptop version) produce without any limiter?

Note: I will not be using the laptop just for mining 24/7. But during like sleeping time or when I am not using the laptop for other stuff.

Thanks in advance.
Mining on laptops is not the best idea right now, because it can break down from overheating and will take a very long time to pay off.
Miners use the laptop 24 hours a day because they have a manufacturer's warranty.
If the miner's laptop breaks, he will contact the warranty service. If you work on a laptop during the day and mine at night, then you can lose your work computer and valuable data if you do not have time to save them.
Therefore, I would never use a laptop for work and mining.

I am always wary of new miners. I will wait for reviews of your miner by other users, but I want to understand its advantages, apart from the reduced developer fees.
When will you add your miner to Hive OS or Rave OS?
Is your miner only for nvidia video cards or will there be support for AMD video cards?

Every beginner should at least study this information:
https://mining.help/
And current video cards for mining, as well as profit and power consumption

I have had experience using integrated graphics for games. The processor died after 1 year Smiley
3873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Am I doing this right? on: September 04, 2021, 09:11:31 PM
If I saw a photo of a mining farm, I would give some advice. You have 6 RTX3060 graphics cards, and I'm sure 80% is only on the latest graphics cards. Peppy video cards are usually the coldest.
It is necessary to increase the distance between the last video cards by 10-15 centimeters and install purge fans so that the last video cards are not cooled with hot air from the first video cards.
3874  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX580s sweet offer from China on: September 04, 2021, 09:02:46 PM
I have been testing two RX 6600XTs since yesterday.

With minimal tweaking (basically only GPU 1350Mhz & MEM 2250MHz, no voltage tweaks) my result so far:

87.5W for ~ 32MHs (total card power on the wall)

More details in this post:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5354335.msg57701633#msg57701633

87 watt is too much, things will be easier if you install hiveOS and use popular presets available in the OC tweak settings or lower core Voltage yourself, 55watt is possible on that card

Thanks,

I was testing my 2 pieces in windows and had no way lower voltages yet.
I have several combos (mb+cpu+memory+ssd+psu)  lying around which can take two cards so I did not use hiveos yet.

I will try hiveos on these combos (with USB stick). I think even with extra overhead / card (mb+cpu+memory takes about 35W) it makes sense as only investment needed is cards.

It's better not to do mining farms this way.
Then you will redo it all.
It is better to buy a Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3 motherboard or analogs on the same chipset. Although Asroсk or Asus only support 4 video cards, DDR 3 memory and X2 processor are very cheap. If the power supplies are good, then use 2 blocks for 1 mining farm. Sell the rest of the junk.
3875  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I detected something new on: September 04, 2021, 08:44:27 PM
So it's true that temp isn't GPU mining friendly now I believe this is true, I have RTX3060ti that mine away at 61MH with 125watt and when browsing online I saw few people using same card with just 115watt, I really care about saving energy as possible so I decided to play with the GPU, mind you temp was 60°C but after reducing power down to 120 I lost 1.5MH, I was confused but the 5watt safe is not really much and I added a small table fan this make the temp dropped to 56°C and hashrate up to 61.5MH, it seems the more cooler a card works the better? By the way it's a gigabyte 3060ti non LHR, should I just buy a permanent fan for my rig instead? Or not worth it
I don't understand why you have such results.
If the video card is located in a farm in an open case, then you need to increase the distance between the video cards to 15 centimeters and install additional 12x12 fans to supply cold air. If the video card is in the computer, then you need to add fans to the case.

I am not interested in ASICs for Ethereum, because they have no prospects for the future, except for mining Ethereum Classic. My colleagues hope that Ethereum mining will still be relevant this year.
3877  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Chia farming and renting servers on: September 03, 2021, 08:04:34 PM
Indeed, it's the best way to build my own server but it costs... Moreover the price of HDD exploded so...
If one provider is not aware yet about Chia, it could have been a good solution Cheesy
Strange as it may seem, but prices for hard drives have dropped and the netspace network has not been growing for 2 months.
https://xchscan.com/charts/netspace
The ROI of hard drives is now slightly better than that of video cards. But I do not recommend investing in this. Better to buy coins while they are inexpensive.
If you want to mine, you can install several 10-18 GB hard drives in your computer.

As a newbie to crypto mining I'm happy that I was able to build a rig myself with the information I gathered online most especially bitcointalk forum, I managed to set up 6 RTX3060 on my own, I just want to know if cranking GPU fan speed up to 80% safe for the GPU and it's fan? I don't want fan to die on the before getting my ROI back
Remember, fans are a mining consumable.
I have video cards that work 90-100% in the summer.
If the fan breaks down, the warranty service will change it. If the warranty service does not work well in your country, you will install an alternative cooling yourself.
My worst fan worked for 14 months before the breakdown.
3879  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is this even safe? on: September 03, 2021, 07:47:16 PM
Im new to crypto mining and it's just been few weeks already, I'm going away on vacation just few days is it safe to leave my rig running? I can monitor through Nicehash app
If the farm is at home, it is better to use an IP camera for surveillance.
Buy a good camera for $ 30-40.
You need to buy a remote controlled smart plug.
Do not leave any electrical appliances in the quartet. Or for this purpose, equip a balcony or other utility room.
A concrete garage or shed is perfect for this.
3880  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Good investment or bad one? on: September 03, 2021, 07:36:43 PM

You are asking the wrong question.
If you are buying RTX 3060 and RTX 3080, then this is a very good offer. If you are offered to buy a 5xR9 390 five-year mining farm, then this is a bad offer.
You will recoup your investment if the farm works perfectly, so which equipment you buy is very important.
