This war has gone way too far and I feel like have just come to realize our leaders are turning into warmongers.

Oh gawd OgNasty.    Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

I fixed the above to make you look more smartie-panties. #nohomo

 Tongue Tongue Tongue

Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

That may have been a bit of a politically correct statement.  In truth, I think Biden is suffering from dementia and him being President is elder abuse.  He's going to likely go down in history as one of the worst US Presidents of all time when this is all over with.  That would probably even be true if he wasn't trying to start World War III.  My true feelings are that Trump was the only President we've had in the last 30 years who wasn't a warmonger, but that sounds a little too crazy...

However, even an incompetent demented liar in the White House won't be able to stop Bitcoin.  This is just another test and hopefully Bitcoin powers through the recession like a champ.  I've been pretty vocal in the past that Bitcoin would suffer in a recession, but I didn't realize the amount of money that we'd print to fight the flu when I was saying that.  In dollar terms, even in a major recession, it's hard to imagine assets getting hit too hard with the money supply growing the way it is.

I really like seeing the "Ordinals" project grow.  It shows that it is possible to run a decentralized community organization (or collection) on Bitcoin's blockchain.  While I still feel there is much work to be done on the development of that project, it does give me hope that one day we too could be a decentralized organization on the blockchain.  I think not having any one person in control of this project would be a positive thing and maybe would allow it to grow as it was meant to instead of being so dependent on a handful of individuals who let's face it, won't live forever.  If you haven't looked into Ordinals, I would recommend taking a look.
3883  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is there any NON-KYC method to buy stocks using bitcoin? on: February 24, 2023, 05:30:24 PM
I'm trying to search for experiences, platforms, or any advice related to that.

Not that I'm aware of.  I believe it's been offered in the past to people outside of the US, but I'm not sure if that's still a thing.  I recall at one point I think it was Binance who allowed users to buy certain stocks.  I thought it was shut down by regulatory authorities but I could be wrong.  However, if you're in the United States I really doubt that something like this would ever be possible, at least not legally.  However, one of the good things about buying stocks is that they're tied to accounts in your name and are provided with things like insurance in the event things go wrong (up to a certain amount).  I don't think anonymously buying stocks is probably the greatest long term plan.
3884  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Using Nostr to facilitate a Mobile friendly Bitcoin/Fiat Decentralized Exchange on: February 24, 2023, 05:27:25 PM
On the other hand, Nostr have been developing extremely rapidly the past 6 months, and recently the Damus iOS client have increased the adoption of Nostr drastically. I was thinking if a similar architecture can be used for a Bitcoin/Fiat DEX.
It's interesting idea and Nostr could be used since for this purpose especially after recent popularity in public, but I don't understand how you would exchange fiat currencies with Bitcoin.

I don't think it's a difficult problem to solve with a trusted solution.  The question is how do you do it without a trusted intermediary?  That's always been the issue with Bitcoin in my opinion.  Services like localbitcoins worked great in the past (before it started being used to arrest people for I still don't know what) but relied on an intermediary to be trusted to act as escrow.  It's a problem that I'm not sure how it could be solved in a trustless way.  Sadly, I think a CBDC would probably be helpful for situations like this.  As is, you'd seemingly need some sort of USD stable coin in order to do a trade like this without trusting a 3rd party.

"Associated Press
Ukraine's leader gives qualified support for China proposal"

this could be a very good white swan event coming soon.

I think it would be a good event for all of mankind.  This war has gone way too far and I feel like our leaders are turning into warmongers.

Bitcoin has held up well through all this chaos even as traditional markets are breaking down.  That's a good sign for now and hopefully the "cycle" continues to overpower global investment conditions.  It would be pretty nuts if traditional markets and real estate all fell while Bitcoin saw another boom cycle.  It's almost hard to believe it could be possible, as we would all be in very good positions to invest in traditional assets.

How do you know that he will perform well in a new team? Just because he has played with Paul George means that he will blend with the whole Clippers team. And then we have the coach as well who will decide when he is going to play.

So we can't say that if he is going to do good with the Clippers just saying.

We have to look at how they are going to utilize him, as a point guard starting five or coming from the bench just like what he did at Lakers.

Well, that's the thing, we don't know if he will be able to perform well or not. I believe he is going to have a better chance if he does move to the Clippers instead of staying with the Lakers though. Because at this point Lakers do not even want him on the team. He is getting a lot of hate from the Lakers. So from the player's point of view, it will be better for him if he does make a move.

On the other hand, if we think about the point of view of the Clippers, I think it will be gambling. Because I don't think they are also sure that it will be better for them to get him on the team. So obviously it will be a gamble for them which might or might not work out.

The Lakers do seem to be glad to be rid of him.  Anthony Davis and LeBron James had a little conversation that was caught on TV yesterday where AD said something to LeBron about them having not been up by 24 this early in the game all year.  LeBron agreed.  This seemingly was a shot at Russ, but moreso I think happiness that they feel like they actually have a team now that can win games.  I think they're going to finish the season strong and try to do some damage in the playoffs.  I still think they'll struggle against younger more athletic teams like the Denver Nuggets though.

Made a couple bucks on the Celtics/Mavs/Lakers wins tonight. I think going forward the Lakers are going to be a good bet this season. Anthony Davis and LeBron have both said how important making the playoffs is to them. LeBron had an off night tonight though. 13 points on 25% shooting. Probably one of his worst games of the season.
3888  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: More Awareness needed, 100$ or Bitcoin??? on: February 23, 2023, 11:19:51 PM
I’ve seen the same sort of videos where they ask strangers if they want $100 or a 1oz gold coin. A lot of people have no idea about valuations or money and they don’t care. They go through life with blinders on, run up debt, and buy whatever they can before their credit line runs out. This is why the government can get away with wasting billions of dollars a day. They don’t teach financial education in public schools for a reason…
3889  Other / Meta / Re: We should have a "who is satoshi" subforum on: February 23, 2023, 11:14:35 PM
Do not forget, Satoshi Nakamoto started, or should I say created this forum, it will look really absurd if the forum should now turn around and start asking who Satoshi Nakamoto is, makes absolutely no sense if you ask me.

This is a bit of a misconception among later arrivals here. In actuality, satoshi not only didn’t create this forum, he never posted on bitcointalk. It appears he did because his posts are here, but it wasn’t bitcointalk when he made those posts. That came later after he had already left the community.
3890  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How somebody can prove that my wallet belong to him? on: February 23, 2023, 09:20:55 PM
Your case and question don't portray sincerity and it's incomplete at the same time. Is the wallet custodial or noncustodial? Do you still have crypto assets in it?

Based on these, if you don't have crypto assets in it, why waste your time, go for another wallet for privacy and security reasons. But if you have crypto assets in it and it's custodial, contact your wallet company with your original details for a reclaim. However, if it's noncustodial, signing a known message with your private key will be the most viable way out.

Let us make it maximum easy.

We both know seed-phrase. How can i prove that the wallet is mine???

Here is the maximum easy answer. If you both have the seed phrase then the wallet is both of yours.

Explanation being that ownership of an address comes down to who knows the private key and I guess in legal situations who used the key… If you both have the private keys then you can both use them. I don’t think there’s been court cases yet where people dispute the ownership of an address and both have the keys. The only court cases I’m familiar with are the ones where someone is trying to claim ownership without having the keys.
3891  Other / Meta / Re: We should have a "who is satoshi" subforum on: February 23, 2023, 09:07:00 PM
The only way I think something like this would be a good idea is if when you click on the subforum it's just a list of people who are NOT satoshi.  Maybe another option could have it be a link to a picture of Craig Wright with big red letters across the image saying "NOT SATOSHI" which I would find hilarious.  I'm sure the forum doesn't want to get sued by a psycho though, so it's probably better if instead of trying to pick apart the intentions of it's creator, we decide to just enjoy and build on the idea that was created and given to us for free.
3892  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Casascius Coins on: February 23, 2023, 08:58:37 PM
never peel your coins that you then want to sell. if you then sell them in their original condition (i.e. not peeled), you will definitely make more profit than just the nominal amount.
and of course you will also have less expense

just my 2 satoshis Smiley

This seems to always be a point of contention between collectors.  The premium on these sorts of coins honestly doesn't seem worth the risk to me currently, but some of them still do fetch decent premiums.  The thought of losing such value in the mail is heartbreaking to me, but I'll admit I've shipped some pretty insane things.  I guess it comes down to risk and the individual, but it's no easy decision to sell instead of peel.  If you bought a Casascius coin for $10 a long time ago, you might be more than happy with peeling, but I could see someone who is at a loss in USD terms wanting to try and get back as much as they can.  Timing could also have a lot to do with it.  Imagine missing the top of a market because you wanted to negotiate a sale.  These Casascius coins are selling for around $30K now even with the premium, so a buyer peeling when BTC was over $60K instead of waiting for the right sale arguably made the right decision.

TL;DR - A bird in the hand...
3893  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [INFO] Stacks Bowers Physical Cryptocurrency Auction 2023 Thread on: February 23, 2023, 08:53:15 PM
I had a quick talk with a guy who claimed to represent Stacks Bowers and was interested in auctioning my Casascius coins collection.  I wasn't comfortable with the way the auction would have gone down from my end, so I wasn't interested.  I am curious about them selling other crypto coins though.  Have any of my Minted Seats ever been sold at a Stacks Bowers auction?  I'm a bit curious how they would be valued by people outside of our little community.  Maybe I need to get in touch with them and ask about NastyFans Minted Seats and if they'd have any interest in auctioning any.
3894  Economy / Speculation / Re: If history repeats itself: 2023 vs 2019 on: February 23, 2023, 08:45:52 PM
Many people talk about a similar fractal in 2019 and 2023, but I don't think it's quite correct to compare these charts because at that time there was no global crisis, not even a Covid yet, so the whole world economy, including the stock markets, were operating very differently than now. We can say that now we are on the verge of a big recession and I personally don't expect any serious growth of bitcoin. Although I don't exclude that it might happen against the odds, as it has happened more than once.

I'm a strong believer of Bitcoin's 4-year cycle a.k.a. fractal pattern and think it is the single most important thing when trying to gauge Bitcoin's price in the future.  So far it's turned out to be a fairly accurate method of predicting.

Sure, "this time is different" and I understand your point.  I also think that people should be wise to take note of the differences and keep them in mind should a recession truly destroy Bitcoin's market.  However, I am a believer that Bitcoin (and crypto) is a new asset class that's finding it's valuation.  I believe it's value is higher than today's valuation and think that the fractal pattern will continue as Bitcoin doesn't care about global chaos or recessions and there's even the possibility that rich people flock to Bitcoin as a safe haven in a recession, causing it's value to skyrocket.  I don't really believe that, but still think it's a good time to be a buyer, because the fractal is real.

People are wildly speculating over an Elon Musk tweet showing a vague video of a Cybertruck on Twitter and saying that it might be a sign the Cybertruck design is finalized. Not sure if I’m willing to go that far but it does seem as thought production is inevitable at this point. It will either revolutionize the consumer vehicle industry or be a spectacular failure.

The All-Star break is officially over and it’s time to get back to NBA basketball. TNT has us covered tonight with a doubleheader. First you have the Grizzlies and 76ers, which should be a really good game with hopefully some Ja Morant highlights. Then you have the game that I’ll probably watch between the Lakers and Warriors. LeBron came out and said he’s going to do everything he can to win the rest of their games and that starts tonight, so I’m expecting the Lakers to come out and give it their all.

Plenty of reports that are saying we won’t see Durant on the floor for the Suns until at least Sunday, with a debut next Wednesday even a possibility. I want to see them in action, but with Booker just back in the lineup I can understand why they want to take it slow. I’m glad I’ll be able to see Durant play a lot more. Maybe even in person.
3898  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does inflation affects bitcoin? on: February 22, 2023, 08:21:51 PM
The idea that fiat currency is going to be inflated away to being of no value is what makes a lot of people pick up a stack of BTC just in case.  I think we're still in the growth phase of BTC, but at some point when it's penetrated enough markets, it's value will be driven not by it's growth, but by the decline of fiat currencies.  It's hard for people in developed nations to really comprehend inflation above 100%.  Watching your savings disappear as banks won't let you access it anyway.  It's a nightmare that most people don't think it really possible for them.  Maybe it will seem more possible in the coming years as governments struggle with recession and war while Bitcoin becomes more scarce (and hopefully with more use cases).
3899  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 🐞 Why Dogecoin still Not hit $1, and how? 🕸 on: February 22, 2023, 08:19:26 PM
I guess my question to you would be why on earth would it even be worth what it's trading for today?  It's all pure speculation that Elon Musk is going to do some major thing with Dogecoin and that will propel the value upward.  What could he really do though?  As far as I know there are only a handful of places that even accept DOGE.  If Elon pushed it too hard or accepted it for Tesla vehicles, he'd probably end up owning the entire DOGE market.  I think it's a funny meme coin and maybe if you are a hardcore Twitter user you plunk down a few hundred bucks to own some to play with on Twitter if that ever happens.  I don't see much serious investment headed that way though.  At least until it has a reason to exist.
3900  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tournament gave 25 bitcoins as prize to last places on: February 22, 2023, 08:16:51 PM
It really is asking for pain to go back and look at all the opportunities in Bitcoin in the early days.  I couldn't tell you how many hundreds, likely thousands of BTC I paid out to random graphic artists or developers for tiny tasks.  I'd like to think they all held and got rich, but I'm sure they cashed out immediately as that's what people did back then.  Nobody wanted to risk holding the bag if BTC fell to zero.  A shame.  Even I, who strongly believed Bitcoin would be valued in the thousands one day, let people get to me and talk me into selling thousands of them early on to "not be stupid" and "cash out something while you can."  It was easy to fall into that trap of thinking before it became clear Bitcoin was on a path to mainstream acceptance.
