Well, a well-run exchange should theoretically always make money, bear or bull, since it relies on revenue from commissions. Traders go either direction, the exchange benefits. So it's not really like they stand to lose, though arguably fewer people are interested in a bear market.

It's not unusual though to see other types of service/product companies advertise or develop, even fundraise, since the interest in a bear market tends to shear away the speculator types.

Seen a few HODL type apps now on Brave ads too.

^ There is also a small hope that Sainz won't listen to team orders (they will always of course say they do and that's standard) -- if we recall, that's exactly how he won British GP. Team defended him and he himself didn't outright admit it, but he did have a kinda valid argument at the time (he felt he could better defend LeClerc against a supposedly faster car.
3883  Economy / Speculation / Re: Effect of Tesla bitcoin sale not significant on: July 22, 2022, 11:57:38 AM
For something insignificant, some how merits people publishing and republishing the news though Wink

Anyway, I never thought the Bitcoin buys ever budged the market beyond a few hours of activity only scalpers would benefit from. Same as the Bitcoin sells.

It's long-term and medium-term trends (volume) that matter much more than what essentially are drops in the ocean.

Well done Ulven for making the decision! It's easy to remember once you're in Superbru, all the pools you're active in will be notified for action from dashboard, plus these threads will all be active. Now the only times I do forget is after international break but I usually still make it in time. Plus, default picks settings help save you for 10 games. Definitely saved me last season in 1 pool (forget which).

Trofo That kind of happened to me in past seasons when Top 10 seems so far away!

morvillz7z Pools are honestly much quicker to complete, if you know the league well, and I'm sure your fantasy time means you probably even know it better than us, it's literally 10 seconds to enter picks per Match Day Wink But agree, if you know you can't participate in, no pressure (well, just a little pressure Wink ). I'm saying no to Fantasy, though I wish I could.
3885  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: F1 Formula Sports Racing - Sportsbet.io promotions & discussion thread on: July 22, 2022, 07:12:59 AM
Verstappen, Max - 2.15
Leclerc, Charles - 2.50
Hamilton, Lewis - 8.75
Sainz Jr., Carlos - 20.10

The fact that Hamilton is quoted higher than Perez, Sainz and Russell in my opinion is unfair.

Thanks for sharing this, funny thing is I'd probably have taken Sainz at around 8/1 (knowing it's of course going to be LeClerc to take priority in any team finish) but you're right, it's not just unfair, it has to be wrong.

Hamilton more than twice as likely to win than Sainz? Am I missing something here?

Took a bet anyway, couldn't help it. I always feel once they break their duck, another win's coming soon. 21/1 for an F1 "Blackjack".

I believe this is the fastest we've collected this much anyway, or is my memory so bad?

morvillz7z apparently those who do well in La Liga do even better in Serie A, you know you need to make it happen, baby.

@casperBGD nice try, trying to get our hopes up for Valencia Wink And yeah, Superbru hasn't opened any of the big leagues except Premier League, someone needs to spank them!
3887  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Conference League Discussion Thread -- 2022/23 | Qualifying 5/07/22 on: July 21, 2022, 03:54:29 PM
There's another interesting underdog to take and that's Crusaders at 31/1 at Fairlay. I'm actually skipping this one though, as Basel are the opponents. It would be a perfect opp to bet on the other leg if Basel win this by 2 goals or more Wink

Liepeja were 15/1 yesterday according to Boristhecat, but are now 11/1 -- so either way, not a good take today anymore.
Lincoln Red Imps were 9/1 and 11/1 today!
IF you'd put money down even on both yesterday, your value evens out-ish.
FC Milsami 10/1 yesterday are over 11/1 today.

The safer bet of course is to take handicaps for all 3, even money, if just one of them doesn't lose, you're in profit. But since there's no fun in that, I'd rather win one of those and pocket at least 6x profit Wink

good luck on the parlay @morvillz7z, I think it's decent, just not my leaning on these tight rounds.
3888  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2022/23 | Qualifying on: July 21, 2022, 02:26:59 PM
@buwaytress, I really hope that you took Slovan win after you posted about it.
Dynamo Kyiv - Fenerbhche game ended without goals. Fener had way more chances, but Dynamo goalkeeper Buschan was MOTM. Dynamo should be happy that they didn't conceded, but on 2nd leg in Istanbul life will be difficult for them.
Maccabi Haifa managed to make score 1:1 against Olympiacos in final minutes. And the way they did it, goal was really beautiful, check it out:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhatlmv095Y

Of course I did Wink And strangely enough not even on one of my regular bookies but on a fiat one, was out on a different device when I plomped it down.

Told you guys, these games simply not worth betting on 2/1 or thereabouts markets, even to get wins + BTTS get you maybe 4/1? And we know teams prefer drawing these games now.

I've got money on all 3 underdogs in Conference today as well, but that's for another topic Wink
3889  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Most of us have lived a world of USD dominance, but history changes on: July 21, 2022, 01:51:38 PM
Bitcoin replacing everything else always sounded a little naive to me.

But this will surely change in the nearest future. 5 billion people around the world use internet today, and with half a million new internet users added each day, I think internet access won't be a problem to anyone in 10-12 years. With smartphones the situation is even better.

So, Bitcoin will hardly replace everything, but the wast majority of people will not have difficulties with adopting it.

Acess will change, but this near future may not be soon enough for a lot of people. And priorities may also still not change for a significant part of the developing world. Even with internet and smartphone, it's still not viable with needs, which don't change even with internet/device penetration. The hawala network, which hasn't only survived but thrived in countries with decades of internet use, but where online literacy hasn't caught up (we're still on English, for example) is a reminder of this.
3890  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Women's Euro 2022 on: July 21, 2022, 12:07:06 PM
So, I managed to predict that game will go to extra time. Agree with @Rruchi man, focusing on defense didn't helped for Spain, I think that England played slightly better today. Spain struggled to create something dangerous, especially in extra time after conceding goal. Stanway's goal was amazing, though, if it would be mens football, goalkeeper most likely would have saved it.
Next 1/4 final is Germany - Austria. Honestly, it's diffiuclt to expect something unexpected there.

Have to admit didn't watch after HT but the first half was all Spain though, winning corners and freekicks, and honestly if they'd just focused on being more direct they'd have gone 2 up at least. So if they focused on defence, then they must have done that in 2nd half and extra time.

They have a skillful forward line, silkier than the English (who still can't even figure out not to be offside every time they take freekicks at goal), but both sides just lack awareness to play that kind of slick passing. Lost count the number of times, the English especially, 2 or 3 strikers move into acres of space while a third receives ball, only one glance left or right and you could easily thread through balls, but they just keep passing back.

Oh yes and with England's failure to win yesterday, my bankroll has disappeared and here ends my betting journey on Women's Euro.
3891  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: July 21, 2022, 11:01:51 AM
I'll see how it goes, I've obviously got Liverpool winning every single game in that period by at least two goals, as standard. So, we'll see how it goes Cheesy. Also got Manchester United losing or drawing every game, so from where I'm standing it looks sound Tongue.

That's the spirit! You just might end up on top after you come back from expedition like this. If I'd stuck to that more often last season I could have gathered a lot more points too.

And I know we should probably underestimate Spurs as well.

I'm always with a Pool 2+ goal win, but at least I'm no longer doing 3-0 by default. Could I be made to regret that?

@Harko yeah I prefer them to hype United up, but surely you remember the pre-season hype with Ronaldo and Sancho coming in too right? Ten Haag is apparently instilling discipline into the team, so that's bad news for the rest of us. I was really happy United had become a rabble of stars, but now seems they're going to have to at least start turning up to meals and training on time (a given at most other clubs but apparently not under Ole or even Rangnick).
3892  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Conference League Discussion Thread -- 2022/23 | Qualifying 5/07/22 on: July 20, 2022, 03:20:44 PM
Missed a great opp yesterday I believe with Hibernians getting a home win, think the odds were 7/1 if I remember correctly. Today's few games are very tight, I'd stay away as they're all touch and go odds wise around 2/1.

But tomorrow we have some interesting prospects:
Liepeja are 136/10 against Young Boys (though the Swiss did last beat United in UCL haha).
Lincoln Red Imps are 9/1 against Tobol Kostanay
FC Milsami 10/1 against Kuopion Palloseura

I've already put down bets on the first 2, tomorrow another =)

136/10 means 13,6 odds?
At the moment there is an opportunity to bet on Liepaja with odds of 15 (on stake.com) and 12 on Milsami. You must have been a bit hasty as their quotes continue to fall. By the way, the bet on Liepaja looks tempting because they play at home and the odds are huge, but why Lincoln Red Imps and Milsami? They play away.

Away teams get shafted on odds, just for being the away team -- and on this scale, I doubt there's a big difference for them. Red Imps, for example, share one stadium with all Gibraltar teams, so it's not really like they know what an away stadium is like, and not like their home stadium is like an Anfield.

I'm not convinced in Europa and Conference home advantage matters so much (certainly for some clubs but not all).

Yeah odds have fallen on Liepeja but it's always touch and go with that, sometimes you get it worse, I didn't mind taking one rightaway.

buwaytress writes that it was the Fairlay platform, now I'm 100% sure that this is their glitch. I don't want to be biased, but when I tried to figure out this platform, it seemed a little crooked to me  Cheesy I wonder how often there are mistakes not in favor but against the players?  Roll Eyes

4 hours before the game, I decided to bet against anti-football, I hope England will not let me down and play correctly.

Cool bet, same one I took as well!

And no, Fairlay has an impeccable record. Support always corrects things for those whose markets settle wrong (there is a public chat) and this is really the first time I have ever gotten a glitch. Again still investigating if it was an error on the person who opened the market (sometimes possible they did it 90 minutes rather than FT result).

I'm ready for the Lionesses to let me down but if they win, I've achieved my target for this competition!

^^ Re fantasy, exactly right. It is about juggling optimum points. Salah was auto captain for me even when I was not playing and I managed to end up high on the SB pool for weeks -- you have to identify players like that early on and pay the cost, knowing everyone has them, just to keep up. Always fit, guaranteed starter, king of goals and assists, seldom gets carded. Can't afford not to have him.

I'd probably risk picking a new buy, but avoiding most of them. And then picking a form team from bottom half for defence.

I'm going to have to disappoint you for Fantasy though, I just don't have the time to even half-ass my picks for Fantasy and while I don't mind supporting a pool I feel like joining it and then dropping out is probably worse =p
3895  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mt Gox OGs wanted for new podcast series on: July 20, 2022, 11:34:54 AM

I think that there weren't too many exchange bankruptcies (if any) prior to Mt Gox. It was the biggest exchange at the time so despite their bad support and deposit/withdrawal issues it had a lot of recognition and trust in the community. I remember reading a thread where people who believed Gox had only temporary problems were bidding for accounts. Even when the exchange was down for weeks there were many people willing to bet on it coming back in just a few days.

Yeah, exactly. We have to understand it from the perspective of a period in time when it simply wasn't easy to find a reputable entity to trade significant volumes of Bitcoin.

It's like the Trust system here. Mt Gox had a lot of approval ratings from old forum users, Ver comes to mind -- he apologised later for recommending everyone to use Mt Gox but it's no different from me recommending users as escrows or services I'd use -- where there is no good decentralised/trustless alternative.

And in some ways, the lengthy litigation at least attempts to make users whole -- unlike other exchanges that have folded.

Is there anyone who has any thoughts about the Dynamo Kiev - Fenerbahçe matchup that is going to be played in Poland tomorrow? Dynamo Kiev have lost their foreign players because of the war in Ukraine. On the other hand Fenerbahce have entered a renovation process with their new manager Jorge Jesus. And they haven't been able to build the squad completely yet. The favourite of this matchup would be definitely Fenerbahce if this was played 2-3 months later. However Turkish teams can't show the wanted performance from them at the beginning of a season.

Took a look but odds don't make me interested, bookies made it finely balanced, as they should be given the unknowns in both sides. Ukraine did seem to show a lot of spirit during internationals, so if the club's core is left and that's mainly locals, they should probably be playing a highly spirited game. 35/10 for a HT lead seems the best choice for me =D

@LTU_btc you know, based on last night's results, time to go for all the long shots yeah? I'd take Slovan Bratislava, with regular boost is almost 8/1 but in a couple of hours today there's a Super Boost on Sportsbet -- should easily get to 85/10.

Really counting the days to this league, seriously. Might actually miss first few games as on hectic travel schedule -- travelling now is such a bad idea
Do what I've done, and basically guess well ahead of schedule. That way you'll probably be like me, and get one point rather than zero. I'm actually probably going to put in some more predictions this week, since I'm away from my office, so I'll have a little more time to do recreational things rather than work. Although, I'll definitely be looking to make the most of this bloody hot weather we have too.

I've already predicted the rounds that I know I'm going to be away on a expedition. I definitely don't expect to get any scores correct there, as I have no idea how teams will be looking with form, injuries etc.

Oh for sure, I'm also on the road for about two weeks and then dubious internet for following 2 weeks -- trip delayed from 2020. Expedition always makes me think of long blissfully lonely trips. I haven't been completely alone since 2016, sort of miss it. Enjoy!

Forum's always alright with even poor data, sometimes it's the only thing I can do (typing out a response on phone is a bit of a nightmare but am so used to it don't even think of now). The heat, yes... probably not as bad as the UK but shitty enough I've been in a daze since yesterday.

Might be surprised by what you can score without bias of injury and suspension and form and bookie odds...

Nah, he is real person, he played Premier League Fantasy with me last season and finished last out of 40 or maybe even 50 participants  Grin

yeah, biting the dust in Premier league fantasy, but expecting better season now, learned from mistakes in previous season
and it is a good competition there

did you saw that there is now Bundesliga pool as well, interesting, but not sure that I will join, I am having several already, is there other interested participants?

See a real person couldn't possibly finish last, more proof he is not human! Fantasy really looked awesome tbh, it's just only problematic if you don't really have time to check for injury (other things to look at of course but that seems to be the problem for me to find out). IIRC it keeps putting some people at 50% risk when they actually played.

I want to say I'd join Bundesliga and even Ligue 1 but I fear I'll be just giving free money away there. Games are all right to watch, though.

Funny thing is I put it all on France last night. Iceland actually drew but my bet was settled as a win, so I'm not sure what exactly happened as the equaliser was a 12th min penalty.

Lol how is that possible? It's either a bookmaker's mistake or it's a "cunning" bookmaker who distinguishes between the outcome of the game in regular time and the final result, taking into account stoppage time (I heard there are such options). Or maybe, taking into account the phenomenal duration of the game, the bookmaker's software failed and simply did not take into account the result at the 103rd minute (maybe they have an automatic cut-off there at the 10th minute - just assumption). I don't know... If I were you, I would withdraw my winnings just in case and wait for how it all ends  Grin

First time it happened to me too on this platform (Fairlay). I'll be a good kid and ask them about it, just for future reference. Thought maybe there was a glitch or something with the results. Strange game too, 1st goal was scored in record time, fastest ever Women's Euro goal, and last one scored as the latest ever probably.
