I saw that, is that really it? I needed to confirm that the price is going up over this ? Everyone has their own view-key of "inconsequential stuff," but the price is Risto's endeavor, not a reaction to any great breakthrough in the DB or a shiny new GUI or any other major announcement. But I thought you knew that, so I'm confused as to why you are confused. But maybe you'll be confused why I'm confused to as why you're confused and we'll create a really confused rip in space-time--which would be pretty kick ass if you ask me.

summary of the missive? I don't want to listen to some people drone on and on unprofessionally about some mundane esoteric mess
I need a succinct outline. don't like surprises.
I like Ginger and Fluffy's chemistry, but anyway.... Nice new missives. Cliffnotes: - NEW WEBSITE! www.getmonero.org (monero.cc redirects to it) - MRL-0004 (Improving Obfuscation in the Cryptonote Protocol) ( http://lab.monero.cc/pubs/MRL-0004.pdf): Mixins: low-mixins can result in a cascading reduction in privacy. XMR will be moving very soon to a minimum mixin of 2. the reason mixin-0 is allowed in the first place is because mixin-0 is useful for sending dust. the solution in MRL-0004 is for mixin-0 to be allowed under special circumstances. these circumstances include a) when the transaction is dust, and b) when the transaction won't create new dust. thus, these specially-allowed transactions will gradually remove dust from the system. eventually the minimum mixin will be mixin-4. increasing the minimum mixin is considered critical in improving cryptonote. temporal-association: in XMR, there's an age-based association problem where observers can tell how old coins are when they're spent due to the way that outputs are chosen for mixing. ideally, it should not be easy to do this. people might panic if very old coins are moving, as would be the case if satoshi started moving coins from 2009. this is not critical but being worked on as well. - design and research goals: http://getmonero.org/design-goals/ not a timeline, but it shows what must come before what. So you can't be bothered to peruse ONE PAGE and see the thing you are asking for. You're like my dad yelling for the hat that's on his head. "Where's my hat! ARRRRR!"

So, let this be the official announcement that the price of monero will now start rising. We would hope the rise to be gradual, but it is very difficult to cap once it starts. Not many want to sell their precious stashes below cost. In fiat, we are still at 10-15% the cost of most holders. Everyone who reads this is asked to keep calm and buy at most a very small amount per day, but instead be very vigilant in selling at the best opportunity. Large holders are entering in, we need them, and they need the coins! Trolls want to know what I think exactly concerning the timing of the rise. That is however reserved for IRC only. This is turning into one hell of a week.

Do we have an agreement that price rise is beneficial for Monero at large?
Is that what we want?
Can only speak for myself, but yes. Not really psyched about the drama a bigger market will bring, but it also is a good way to sell at irrational dips for later rebuys, so my strategy of accumulation might actually benefit, which means more moneroj in percentage and price--not a bad trade off for drama. Also, I think the core-devs and devs with side projects could use the increase in funds for their projects. So what are the drawbacks beside an increase in short-term/fragile investors?

Is that really a divorceable offense now days? All I know is that thanks to BinaryFate, Arnushcky, and a nameless other genius; I can use Monero to pay cam girls without my better-half getting the better of me in divorce court. ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) Not divorceable, but more of a "I'm gonna use this to take more of your stuff, asshole" able.

trolling? that´s real!! Yesterday i have download the blockchain from page one and have to sync 143 day´s, today i have only 13 day´s to sync. Look at nxt there is about 2h to wait for blockchain. PS: i´m buy today when blockchain is ready xmr for 3-4k dollars ;-) ;-) Pippo, the "I've got a few thousand dollars to drop on Monero" and then dropping the name of "that less anonymous coin" act has gotten old. Get some new material or clean-up the material you've got.

i see your point, but: no, withdraws from an exchange is not voluntary. remember: you only on coins if you own the privkeys?
Yeah you are right about that. Poloniex can do whatever they want. But it would good for business if they implemented an option where you could change the mixin count. Otherwise they might lose customers. When everyone was given the option to chose their mix-in, most were using the lowest which was dragging the anonymity of everyone, so I'm happy with decision. AFAIK the devs asked them to change it and the gui is being set with a similar base setting. Somone please correct me if I am mistaken; I like having the facts set correctly in my mind.

Coming from someone that has way more Monero than the 20 btc necessary to drop the order book 50% and keep it there, you guys have no idea what you are talking about.
if I chose to do that, the auto dumping miners would simply hop in front of the remaining parts of my gigantic sell order at .0005btc and keep this downtrend going, while somebody makes an off hand comment about emission schedule
And lets not forget about the upside, anybody want to form a syndicate and get the price back up with a stabilizing bid? PM me
Did this guy just write rptiela is BTC poor ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) I'm paraphrasing, obviously. But "You guys collectively barely have enough bitcoin to buy Monero at firesale prices..." right after rptiela's post on the market does read like he's saying rptiela doesn't have two BTC to rub together. Mind blowing! I think he's just talking about the public buy orders already placed on Polo? As ArticMine says, most of the potential action is not in the form of orders already placed. I guess-- but that's reading a lot into the statement considering the two posts prior to his are talking about the market and he's responding directly to those posts. "You guys" I'm assuming is referring to Articmine and rptiella, not whoever has buy orders on Polo--that's a more reasonable assumption, right?

Nothing on there is fine. Their BTC was worth over a million dollars. They're finished.
We need to look at having almost all XMR volume on Poloniex as a critical, critical problem.
If Polo were hit in a similar fashion, it would put a TINY wrench in the XMR market. The Two Kozi is/was working on a gateway to accelerate exchange adoption, correct? Unless something comes from left field like mymonero did, I think we'll have to wait for this to finish. If you keep your Monero in your wallet (on your PC), then you have nothing to worry about. And if you happen to be trading when something gets stolen, you're supposed to say to yourself, "Oh i should have locked my xmr away and never let the evil of profitable trading get the better of me." Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but traders keep the money moving and that helps create liquidity which makes your stored xmr worth more. Very few people want a currency where you can't move millions of dollars at a time because the market has no liquidity.

All I want is a way to pay for cam girls without my wife potentially finding out--is that too much to ask?
Holy "taint analysis" batman! Don't think Johnny Knoxville had crypto in mind when he said this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJu-V8gkM3s

I'm a Monero holder but I've been reading about HD wallets lately and I'm wondering why tech like CryptoNote is necessary when HD wallets change the address every time they send or receive.
Even though it's new addresses you can still use taint analysis to trace back through change addresses to make connections to a user Random address from the recent transactions box: https://blockchain.info/taint/1Mub9qZnaNxFSkF3FB612C8CdHC3qWWMW7The goal is to avoid the ability to do that from my understanding Thanks, is there an example of how taint analysis works within the context of BTC change addresses? I don't believe HD wallets are relevant to the privacy problem with Bitcoin. Even with simple wallets combining inputs from multiple addresses proves that a single person owned all the addresses included. Whatever marketing gimmick and fancy new wallet system they come up, it probably won't matter in the future if its not totally useless already. The blockchain is a public and permanent record of everyones transactions. Besides the fact that one would have to be 100% anonymous for each and every transaction, 100% of the time to remain untraceable, this means no space for any mistake in the past or in the far outreaching future for one using Bitcoin. If some agency wants to they will eventually connect the dots from enough public and private databases. Bitcoin was not made to be private, it is a nightmare waiting to happen. "But I'm smart and I never make mistakes--I'm even smarter than the future. No blockchain analysis ever gonna catch up with me" ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif)

Until Monero gets really popular you really should avoid things like this... or you can always use a Bitcoin mixer and get in the same room as drug dealers and scammers. Bitcoin mixer sounds like a terrible social event. I'll wait for a Monero ho-down. ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) Speaking of which--why isn't there a Monero $10,000 party listed? As ludicrous as it sounds, that's where we are heading.

So, I believe we just need to collaborate to get some stuff done as a community, outside of the Core Devs. They are busy. What do we want to do?
Are we on slack? If not lets make one and start a brainstorming session. The topic should be development funds Edit - we are on slack - monerofoundation.slack.com Pm me your email for invites, i think there should not be a problem about privacy for a public foundation All I want is a way to pay for cam girls without my wife potentially finding out--is that too much to ask?

I went through the Top 20 assets on coinmarketcap and divided the daily trade volume by the market cap.
Nubits is #1. This is to be expected. Nubits volume largely comes from trading bots managed by NuShares people to stabilize the price at $1.00 XMR is #2. XMR has high emission, but even if every mined coin were sold per day, that would only account for less than $4,500 per day of its often $12,000 to $25,000 daily trade volume. DRK and LTC follow.
XMR remains a highly liquid coin. Even in terms of raw trading volume, it surpasses many more highly capitalized assets.
And that's not accounting for what's being traded on moneroclub or privately. Think we'll never know the real number ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
