3921  Local / Español (Spanish) / Atención aviso Pancake bajo un ataque DNS on: March 15, 2021, 04:24:22 PM
Literal del twitter.

EDITADO

In that case, being a very minor DEX with low volumes, el hacker Elliott Gunton obtuvo el equivalente aproximado a 269.000 USD.

3922  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: will Binance be the next Ethereum? on: March 15, 2021, 12:38:08 PM
I would say that binance coin bnb and binance smart chain can compete with ethereum in terms of price but they cannot take over in terms of technology. Ethereum is pure decentralized chain and its hard for anyone including bsc to compete it.
Ok, I get it.
It really depends on where we rate and the users who are rating it and over time Ethereum may be a tech issue that is superior.
However over time the BSC became superior in terms of lower costs than eth even higher which was considered a positive for users as an alternative.

I think they can actually compete in terms of technology and development because Binance has huge resources that they can use to develop, however there are two main problems:

a) It is a private chain, so you are always under the foot of Binance and manipulation is likely.
b) The ecosystem is not even half as big as the ethereum. Much less projects, much later.

Thus, it will not become the "ethereum killer", simply another chain - yet I admit a particularly well funded one.
3923  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH transaction fee! on: March 15, 2021, 12:34:15 PM
ETH transaction fees:

Seriously!

I have more than 15 tokens and a lot of them are not worth even $50. Some of them have over $500 USD value. Now, I understand why CZ once talked about ETH being rich men's network LOL

PS: I am not even bothered to send some ETH from another address to this address and move those tokens to an exchange.

Yep, we are all in the same situation. Some projects wanted to distribute profits in Ether - crypto funds and the like - and it comes out that anyone with less than "x" tokes would just simply get nothing. Same for transfering shit-tokens for a value of less than $100 at least. It is a shame because many ethereum users are not taking advantage of the current prosperous market and that will damage the eth project itself in the long run.
3924  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Here are the best staking coins for your money right now... on: March 15, 2021, 12:27:47 PM
Stacking is MEH in 2021... 5-13% APY. Take into calculation the fact that majority of this rewards comes from inflation and you have net APY 1-5%... on coins with montly amplitude like 30-100% ... crazy. This stacking reward is like a drop in a see of risks.

Better alternative:
1- USDC/BUSD liquidity pool on pancake - 20% APY, 0 risks from price change
3- Binance earn on stable coins - 6-9% apy. 0 risk (other than not your keys not your coins)
2- BNB with 5-10% burns, 10-15% apy from lauchapads, 10-15% APY from lauchpads - if you like passive income on high volatile assets that much https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5208144.msg53299809#msg53299809

For me the answer as of now is none. The reason is that the reward to benefit ratio on most networks that use staking is to low compared to similar alternative investments outside the crypto scene. For me, a 20% APY can be obtained in a number of stocks that are volatile, yet much less than crypto. Smoother ride, less risk...

There is catch 22 on returns for staking: if it is too high the safety of the network becomes too expensive, thus transactions become expensive and kill the project. If the safety is too cheap, nobody wants to stake, so the project dies.

Now, if you really want to stake, I would start looking at BSC chains, particularly the new ones that have potential to grow aside from the staking ROI.
3925  Economy / Gambling discussion / Prediction markets Augur on: March 15, 2021, 10:53:35 AM
I just remembered that there was an specific project (Augur?) with alt-coins that intended to make a platform for "prediction markets".

Quote
A market is, in essence, just a group of people (or robots) buying and selling things. This can be physical goods as in a grocery store, services as in Uber, or financial assets as in the stock market.

I wonder if any of you has had any experience using the platform or the token and how the results may vary depending on the general alt-coin market, that is, even if winning a bet will actually give you a decent result if the value of the coin drops in that market cycle.

3926  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting Experiment #2: Chasing the Draw on: March 15, 2021, 10:49:52 AM
Interesting experiment PMalek, I wonder if by backtesting this with previous season's games you could provide a result along time, that is for example 3 years of playing consistently this way. I am aware that is a lot of effort though.

To be honest, you could add some consideration for odds that just seem right versus those that are for any reason not that correct.
3927  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers - How do you use your signature campaign earnings? on: March 15, 2021, 10:46:50 AM
My earnings are most of the times minimal, which incredibly enough is an improvement from the 2018 alt-fever in which the earning were many times 0, due to scams, failed projects, shitty teams,... Sorry to digress, but I kind of like the system a bit more now, with serious managers, etc...

My earnings, no matter how small, are divided into 3 pots: (a)Safe investments (b) Risky investments (including HODLING) (c) My play money. My play money can end up at the sponsor's site very easily Smiley
3928  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: March 15, 2021, 10:43:10 AM
What a fire game in derby of Sevilla as both Sevilla and Betis are playing really high classy football despite the rain of the yellow cards  Grin Grin. Betis is one of my favorites team from LaLiga and I hate to see them loosing without scoring today as they really tried with all high pushing pressing that made Sevilla to retreat and concede the pitch but even with this Betis is not able to score Sad.

Quite a classic, now the Betis has to measure with Levante and Sevilla with Real Valladolid. It seems to me that both these teams should have an easy time beating the rivals, however the odds will reflect that. Anything better than 2 to 5 in favour of the rival calls for a bet on either of these.
3929  Economy / Economics / Tech companies no longer friends (II) Google & Microsoft on: March 14, 2021, 11:31:59 PM
On a previous post , I spoke about Google and Facebook having a row with Apple due to the segmentation limits that Apple is implementing.

Apple has its own problems due to the extortionate (IMO) rates that it charges for any payment done in Appstore applications. This does not only apply to the purchase in an app, but also to any in-app purchase. EPIC games, quite a giant on the field, filled a suit on regards to this practice.

Quote
Epic implemented changes in Fortnite intentionally on August 13, 2020, to bypass the App Store payment system, prompting Apple to block the game from the App Store and leading to Epic filing its lawsuit.

Google announced that they will no longer support third party cookies., which puts them at odds with most of the independent add analytic and serving services.

The row is notoriously public now between Microsoft and Google. Nowadays, internet adds are a must for most business. And nowadays, there are very limited alternatives to Google. Microsoft is arguing that Google has a monopolistic control of on-line advertisements and they have also applauded the move by Australia on regards to having Google and Facebook pay the media outlets and to implement something similar in the US..

It seems cynic that Microsoft, who abused and still abuses a dominant position to channel through Windows their apps and cloud services, are now complaining that someone else has the upper hand on the on-line add market, yet the gauntlet has been thrown in the political arena in US, up to the point that
Quote
Microsoft exec will target Google's hold over news before Congress
, thus on a direct attempt to hurt his rival in the search add space.

It seems that all big tech have reached the point in which they need to grow into each other spaces an a times comes in which the future - dystopic maybe? - is going to be shaped for the street guy internet user.

3931  Local / Primeros pasos y ayuda / Como se gana "trust" on: March 14, 2021, 05:48:36 PM

Algunas ideas?
3932  Local / Primeros pasos y ayuda / Re: Como camuflarme on: March 14, 2021, 05:29:04 PM

Can 14-odd years be called history? Perhaps, but in any case it feel a bit like so due to the speed of the expansion of Cryptocurrencies. I felt like doing something to celebrate this non-birthday party, so there you go:

If you wonder what is that last picture, see here. The price is now different Smiley
3935  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Is Signature Campaign dead? on: March 14, 2021, 12:38:14 AM
Is not dead, but it has changed. All serious projects only accept quality posting and use campaign managers of superb reputation, which are driving the right posting behaviours. You should actually be saying in your post "I have noticed a general better quality of posts", that is, if you care about it.

That of course has a lot to do with the decision to avoid the massive and artificial bumping of threads.
3936  Economy / Economics / Re: You want to get rich, don’t pay taxes, don’t get married, don’t use bank, and... on: March 12, 2021, 06:26:35 PM
Don't pay taxes = go to jail
Don't get married = fine, but if you intend to live with someone or have kids you still have financial responsibilities
Don't use banks = That's fine, but you cannot yet buy everything with bitcoin and your fiat under the chimney is at risk of being stolen.
Don't invest = That is fine, but inflation will eat you fiat savings. I suggest you learn about Value Investing. (See problem "not everything can yet be bought with bitcoin)
Don't get a job = invalid without an alternative source of income.

Are you starting to see some potential flaws to your happiness strategy?

3938  Economy / Gambling discussion / Play fewer hands to earn more strategy - Poker on: March 12, 2021, 05:24:07 PM
I just read some playing advise regarding Texas- hold'em. The blog says that to stand a better chance to win you should bluff very little times and only go ahead with hands in which you have a good starting combination such as:

Quote
there are only five hands that are considered "premium."
AA
KK
QQ
AK (Suited)
JJ

If you follow this strategy, you would play very little hands, which may get a bit boring. However, the strategy can be extended to play more hands to the "top 15"

Quote
AA
KK
QQ
AK (suited)
JJ
1010
AQ (suited)
AJ (suited)
AK (off suit)
KQ (suited)
A10 (suited)
KJ (suited)
AQ (off suit)
99
JQ (suited)

Has anyone tried an strategy of limiting the hands? How didi it go?
3939  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fate or lack of control - Gambling on: March 12, 2021, 05:05:12 PM
When betting you should try to be as rational as possible and always enjoy and have fun, if you start think about why I loose and thinking is your fate is probably the moment to call it a day and come back tomorrow. Games are designed for the house to have a gain and even when you play with others, chances are that you will be loosing. Do not try to irrationalise what is simply the way the game works.

There is one exception: you may not be maximising your chances because you are playing sloppily or do not understand enough about the game. In that case is not your fate, is that you need to learn the basics.
3940  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do You Trust In-House Casino Competition? (Wager/Multiplier/Raffle) on: March 12, 2021, 05:02:07 PM
...

That's the reason I only participate in competitions published and handled in Bitcointalk. It's easier to verify. Do you also think the same?

Sincerely,
A skeptic guy.

You have good reasons to be sceptic in general, but there are places and places. Some edgy sites, too recent or that want to make just quick profit may try to benefit from such as strategy as fake players, however that eventually drives the customers out. The usual legitimate odds and methods are more than enough to drive the right profit from a betting platform, so for the old and well stablished ones there is no need to cheat.
