When you deposit money in the bank, it does not become the bank's money. You retain ownership and the bank must return it to you on demand. Having custody of something is not the same as owning it. The bank has custody of your money, they do not own it.
tell that to the folks in cyprus. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012%E2%80%9313_Cypriot_financial_crisis

I had the hashrate drop for the gpu connected to the monitor/dummy plug with 470's also. I had to mod my driver to run completely headless for the hashrate drop to go away (If you want to ask how try asking google).
I can confirm. I have 6 rigs and one GPU connected to the monitor drops the hash rate and hangs often when using 9.0. Using ASM=0 - no issues. sounds like what i have, the 470 connected to the kvm gets ~10% lower hashrate. 26 mhs vs the other 470 at 29.x mhs. . asm is on, and -dcri is 30 on both cards. both ran the same on 8.1 only difference in the 470s is the memory, one samsung, one hynix. both are strap modded. i am dual mining dcr if that makes any difference os is windows 7

ETH and ETC duel mining. Is this possible with this miner? I
nope cant do it. one or the other, plus a second coin like decred or sia

well if it were nash it would certainly solve the "problem" of the satoshi mined million coins suddenly being sold and crashing the price of bitcoin.
but as someone else pointed out (sorry forgot who) wouldnt nash known of that potential problem and publicly burned the coins as they were mined. xfer then to an unspendable address or something. i mean if perfect money were the intent it shouldnt have the risk of a price crash built into it.
its as if satoshi didnt realize how important bitcoin would become. nash would of.

thanks for the explanations, i wasnt sure how asicboost was/is/could be implemented, and if it would suddenly doorstop a bunch of hardware. sounds like bitmain stuff will work either way, just with a 20% boost with proper firmware.
|
|
|
if segwit activates bitmain can suck an egg for all i care but the ordinary miners with bitmain tech would get destroyed.. if say S9s cannot mine segwit blocks im just wondering what all the folks with S9s etc will do when all their gear turning into doorstops overnight.
they would be forced to support a forked BU based chain i guess. whether they agree with BU or not.
glad im gpu mining alts..

this is probably obvious but i havent seen a clear yes/no answer on this:
if segwit activates on btc (fat chance) will bitmains recent asics stop hashing? if so which models?

okay thanks guys, that's what I wanted to know, I have my cards undervolted as well, just never tried a 1 fan variant. Do you dual mine with the 1 fan variants?
i dual mine with my powercolor single fan red devil 470. temps are in line with my msi dual fan 470. but the single fan card runs at higher rpm so is a bit noisier.

i got into it just to see if one could indeed make money of my GPUs (a HD4850). seemed too good to be true. and i did it mainly to prove a point to my wife that our computers were not just a money pit of course it did make some money and i was able to exchange it for USD in my bank account via mt gox and dwolla. and after a couple months i grabbed more gpus (HD6870, HD5830s) and built a mining rig. this was around 2011. went with gpus, then fpgas and finally early asics. made a decent amount, had some nice vacations and bought some toys. didnt really save a lot as i was unsure of its long term viability. at this point i gpu mine (alts, convert most to btc but i do save some alts) to be part of the Grand Experiment. still cash coins in here and there but now im more into saving coin long term.

I may have read someone say that powercolor 470 4gb red dragon has always had samsung. I have 2 of them (single fan) and they both have samsung
i also have a powercolor red dragon 4gb single fan with samsung memory. goes good on eth with the 1750 strap mod but it has a crappy hsf so runs warm.

nicehash Ethereum+Decred:
If you add an option -mport, decred - rejected rejected rejected
i get the same thing on nicehash... all decred shares rejected by nicehash same here. nicehash decred pool rejects all shares for a while, then for no apparent reason the shares start getting accepted. long term average winds up being ~50% accepted. seems to be no rhyme or reason to this.

So with that in mind I registered a new alternative domain name (only cost me $5):
bitnet.cash
There was a wallet named Bitnet.io but it was bought out by Uphold and has been renamed or folded into Upload Merchant Services. So perhaps that domain name is even for sale.
The domains bitnet.net and bitnet.org are also for sale for several $1000s (for later).
So any preferences from any of you all between Openshare and Bitnet? I'd appreciate feedback asap as I am trying to get a forum going asap.
Bitnet is shorter and more well associated with Bitcoin branding. Note the recent pump of Bitcoin+ (Plus). And the 'bit' is for the database and the 'net' is for the Internet cloud aspect of it.
If we choose Bitnet, then we can make the token bits instead of shares. (I'm leaning towards Bitnet)
bitnet. short, simple and to the point. instantly recognizable. openshare has nothing to suggest blockchain tech. sounds like an openoffice module.

i wound up with 100% rejects on nicehash when i specified -decri values. i deleted that setting (no -decri on command line) and shares started being accepted again.
kinda odd as before it dual mined dec with a -decri 60 setting no problem.
the correct syntax is "-dcri" not "-decri".... i had it right in the .bat, just not in the post when mining 1st starts it seems to get a lot rejects but then after a bit it settles down and shares get accepted.

Can someone paste their Claymores string for DCR here? I have tried a bunch of pools and all DCR shares get rejected, while Eth is mined just fine. Even Sia or Pascal give no issues.

ive taken to pointing my ir temp gun at pcie and psu connectors every couple weeks or so for the last year, ever since i had a seasonic 750 psu melt its pcie connectors on the psu side (seasonic had a bad run of cables a few years ago when i bought it).
i remember taking needle nose pliers to some female molex connectors years ago as they would loosen up on some connectors.
i have a tube of no ox that i use for flashlights and my r/c cars. havent used it on computers yet but its a good idea.

Anyone using this miner with 290s or 390s on 15.12 drivers? I tried it with 16.9.2 but still get 31MH per card...no different than when I used Genoil's miner like a year ago. Weren't there some efficiency improvements from recoding using GCN assembler?
i found no difference on my 390 with 15.12 or 16.11.x drivers. 31 mhs @ 1100/1500 sapphire nitro
