Really counting the days to this league, seriously. Might actually miss first few games as on hectic travel schedule -- travelling now is such a bad idea, but no choice, the world is all messed up... 4 different contact tracing apps, my data is now floating around in the ether with 4 governments not exactly known for their sensitivity to personal data. All just to get home and renew some long-expired docs!

Sorry for a bit of OT, but where is the old CL pool? I actually think I should have won something in that one Grin

It is never off topic when we are all in the same pools and CL is anyway related to EPL in a kind of way hehe. The topic is here, which I realized also now after visiting it I did not look at it since May! https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4919683

I believe all prizes were paid, but go contact buwaytress if he did not pay you Wink

Hey cryptofrka yeah I just checked and you didn't get back to me with an address as requested in this post, sorry that slipped, but you know, I'm a busy guy heh. Just ping me with an address, you won 1 mbtc from that one. Halab and Harkorede did it rightaway so they're settled.
3922  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Women's Euro 2022 on: July 17, 2022, 07:38:40 AM
So won my silly big bet on England (11/10 odds, terrible but on the other hand, not bad for guaranteed win, just hate doing them to be honest as you never know when great teams have an off day).
~

Grin I'll quote just so I don't forget that you are weird betting too.

Judging by the odds, today's game will not contain any intrigue:

Finland 24.00

Draw 9.20

Germany 1.08

Maybe it makes sense to take the victory of Germany with a handicap of -2.5, the odds in this case are more or less adequate 1.79. Germany should score a lot of goals in this game.

Hahaha KTChampions! I mean, yes, I think 1.1 is just so stupid, I maybe do 12/10 or 13/10 on Liverpool just to boost something else that I don't mind losing so much but somehow with women's football, you just watch the games and you think, man if they don't win, they're cheating, right?

Germany 1.08 is free money to me too, I'd have taken it if I was online yesterday. Just watch the game and realise. There will be plenty more such games Tongue

Yeah just saw the new UI update too -- only issue I think is they've also cleared out all the emails in my inbox, which contained at least 1 offer I hadn't used yet haha.

Also, transaction history for me seems to have been wiped out (or rather, it shows an empty screen saying no transaction found and if I change the date range to beyond 2022 it seems to load forever). While we're on that, would really appreciate a better way of viewing tx history (actual amounts deposited and withdrawn, for example).
3924  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: July 16, 2022, 04:39:51 PM
Just reading about match fixing allegations at Wimbledon. I'm usually not giving benefit of doubt but this time, wondering if too much has been made, given the sources seem to be pretty similar most of the time (German, French). Depending on the source, he's "found guilty".
What match fixing? First time I am hearing about it, care to share something or maybe link an article or two? Usually biggest tournamnts stay out of those stories but we all know ITF is full fixed games. Can't blame the bookies when they limit stakes on those tournaments. Tennis is easy to fix, since you just have to pay one player or he/she can do it on its own as well.

That's the thing too, fixing is in every sports but to see it at the highest level is unheard of and the people names are pretty high profile (for me to recognise a name anyway means something since I dn't follow tennis so much).

This is the link I was shown, and there was another one: https://www.zdf.de/nachrichten/sport/tennis-wettbetrug-matchfixing-spieler-unter-verdacht-100.html

Google translate of course can't really be trusted, but Google thinks I'm German/Dutch/French on some devices.

Guess I'm just going to have to be the first one to see if we can do this. Call it a soft spot for writers.

RainingSage, send me a PM here or on Telegram (same username). I'm not looking for writers just at this very moment, but have some projects on hold that maybe I start reactivating slowly over the next few months. Willing to put you to some minor work, Bitcoin-related, if you're interested.

Include:
- a bit about yourself
- your asking rate
- your estimated workrate (wph, and hours per week)
- a 500-word commentary on "Why You Shouldn't Be in Bitcoin" (if it doesn't work out, I'll pay you the rate you quoted in your post history, 0.5 mbtc, for this).
3926  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Crypto lender Celsius mulls possible restructuring amid financial woes on: July 16, 2022, 02:54:13 PM
Seems I always get to read this latest news a bit late, thought they were actually getting themselves out of trouble (also because they didn't file for bankruptcy earlier). Think stompix's right. This way, they do backdoor agreements with the powerful guys they owe money to, pay most of all of it of, then get the law to protect them while they pay whatever's left to the retail cake eaters.

To anyone else having money with other lenders, might want to take out all you can before their own insolvencies come to light (and I bet they're all just hiding as best they can hoping for crypto markets to save their ass).
3927  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Personal interest Over National Interest on Bitcoin By Countries on: July 16, 2022, 01:44:55 PM
As Jawhead999 points out, read more into these "bans". Most of the restrictions are really on commercial use of crypto (not just Bitcoin) -- if you're trading it or using it to facilitate business, then you're not allowed to use it. That actually makes sense from most regulatory perspectives if you consider that most of these countries already struggle with international financial compliance, they simply don't have enough resources to monitor yet another system/network they don't even fully understand.

But they're not going to go after individuals who buy and own Bitcoin. Localbitcoins will prove this (check out trades for Indonesia, Turkey, Egypt, to name a few). That's not even needing to go unmonitored p2p like Bisq.
3928  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Conference League Discussion Thread -- 2022/23 | Qualifying 5/07/22 on: July 16, 2022, 11:48:41 AM
A fun fact is that teams who won the first game were eliminated in their second one while playing at home,Partizan Tirana was eliminated from a Georgian team in the extra time after penalties. They thought that they had achieved qualification since the first leg and took things to easy, result them being eliminated from penalties. It is true that Conference league will have many upset results with the passing of time as teams here are not of so much different in quality and even bookies are having hard times finding the correct odds.

Yeah, I've really been eyeing the Georgian teams in since Georgia topped their group in Nations League 2 years ago. They took me some nice big wins last year (Dinamo Tblisi especially, man those guys are so unpredictable).

Rijeka because of forum friends I keep an eye on too but these 2-legged affairs are amazing to bet on the away team (bookies boost them for no reason) or on the underdog (bigger teams I think have more money on the line, so skew the odds).

Betting on Thiem or Murray is in a way like betting on Krygios, I wouldn't generally do it, they're too unpredictable. In Krygios's case it's his mentality, but Murray it's the physical uncertainty. You can analyse Murray's recent performances, but we'll never be able to get information on exactly how his hip is doing on any given day, or how his recovery has gone after the previous match. I find it a lot easier to bet on players for whom there isn't so much unavailable information.

Now that you mentioned it, I've not once I recall placing a bet on Murray. Thiem used to be on my tickets though, more for value than anything else, but like you say, the value quickly becomes a coin toss -- then you only want to make sure you're getting 2/1 and up for them.

Well he's right, you know. satshi satoshhi definitely did NOT create Bitcoin. I can confirm this 100%.

Liberty Reserve? Well that's a blast from the past that for me stays in the same black hole as e-gold.

Wonder who OP would like to think uses ethics and morals in an alternative system.

Norway though, I had them to win and keep a clean sheet -- ended up losing 1-0. Thought the England hammering was a blip and Austria aren't anywhere near what Norway should have been, but results beg to differ.

So much for the return of Ada Hegerberg...
3932  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: July 16, 2022, 07:59:45 AM
Yeah thanks icopress, Trofo, all, for weighing in. Definitely agree this is the far better route. We actually ended up NOT having a proper pool last season due to a lack of interest and perhaps, that's partly due to a lack of sponsorship. And that was really quite sad for me too personally, because we actually had the pool up since 2018 and then it just seemingly had less and less interest.

Though really, I've played pools all my life where the pot is 100% fee so I guess this forum is built a little different!

It's also my favourite competition! If I'm being objective, I'm more likely to watch 100% of UCL games than 100% of Premier League games, and while I'd watch very few EPL games where Liverpool or a top 4 isn't playing, I'm almost always down to watch any UCL fixture I can get. And I'm 100% sure I'm watching EPL because of Liverpool -- whereas I was watching UCL for almost 10 years when we weren't in it.

@icopress let's move this forward next week Wink
3933  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Conference League Discussion Thread -- 2022/23 | Qualifying 5/07/22 on: July 16, 2022, 06:58:51 AM
There is some big upsets so far in Conference League qualifiers. Probably main one is club from San Marino Tre Fiori managed to beat Fola from Luxembourg (odds were @6.00). Such things doesn't happen often. St. Josephs from Gibraltar beat Larne @8.50.
Good day for Faore Islands, 2 of their 3 teams reached next round. Maybe Vikingur win against Europa FC isn't surprise, but B36 Torshavn win after penalties against Borac Banja Luka isn't expected.
Flora is biggest chokers today. They had 2:0 lead (3:0 total), but then conceded 2 goals, got red card, conceded another goal and game moved to extra time. In extra time they got another red card and left with 9 players conceded another goal and lost game 4:2 against SJK.

6/1 is an upset, but not even as big as Spartak Moskow beating Napoli last season (Europa, but it's the result I remember well). The problem with teams from San Marino and Malta, they're so hard to tell -- mercenaries mostly and not nationals, coming up against local boys from a low-ranked nation.

Does kind of happen a lot too actually, and I suspect Conference will add to those numbers.

Flora killed me plenty too and I think there's good value in identifying teams who're saddled with their country's ranking (Iceland for example or even Flora for Estonia).

Hope you made money!
3934  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FUD Has Finally Taken Its Toll on Me on: July 15, 2022, 06:07:08 PM
Do what's best for you and your beliefs. Bitcoin Policy Institute put up some data during the last COP that provides some solid arguments against that energy argument and, if they hold true, will prove that energy use will plateau in about a decade and then decline.

All the while securing a financial system that has no peers.

If price is all that matters to you, and that money is dear to you, you probably did the right thing.

But if Bitcoin is a little more to you than that (not saying price doesn't matter, of course it does) and you're willing to wait it out, as all cycles have come and gone, look to the progress made, the fundamentals that keep getting stronger, and the weakening of the alternatives.
3935  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io Betting discussion thread rev on: July 15, 2022, 01:14:34 PM
^ Ah well, just the same way I felt a couple of GSs ago about Tsitsi. I no longer have any particular feeling toward him, guess our love affair's over now. Big shame on Berretini though, Covid of all things.

Anyway, rare special out today for Women's Euro. Don't laugh but I took it: Norway to win and clean sheet @4.20.

https://sportsbet.io/sports/sportsbet-specials/matches/today

That's the team that just lost 8-0 to England and I got a truly silly bet on them too at 1.1x, something I never ever do. But this one, just have a few mbtcs left at some bookie and wanted to get some fees back so put it all on them. If I lose it, I don't have to worry about it heh.
3936  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread on: July 15, 2022, 08:48:20 AM
Hey guys! Just saw this now, I took it off notifications as I'm getting now too many (to the point I'm even replying on wrong threads due to notifications messing up my web notifies haha).

1.5mbtc sounds a good price. It's not much NOW but I agree, it might not fit everyone's budget and most of us are playing in everything. Personally don't mind paying more but I'm definitely aware it might be a bit difficult for everyone to play.

Good to see sponsorships are alive and forthcoming!
3937  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Women's Euro 2022 on: July 15, 2022, 07:45:24 AM
Glad to see the level of attention this tournament is receiving. I am surprised with the fact that the matches are being covered by media here (India). Women's sport has become increasingly mainstream recently although large gaps still exist in terms of TV viewership and finances.

BTW, I am surprised with the England vs Norway match. I thought that Norway (similar to the other Scandinavian nations) are one of the strongest teams as far as women's football is considered. But they went down by such a massive margin (0-8) against England. None of the Scandinavian teams (Norway, Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Iceland) are in a position to top their group.

Hey you here too.

Women's Champions League is actually completely free to watch live on YouTube, so you should tune into that next season, while Euro is also completely free on most European channels as I can tell (locally that is), so if you already have some kind of sports channel, then it's easy to watch. BBC with iPlayer airs every match too, if you can access that.

As I mentioned to you before, you'd be really surprised at viewership for women's!

Yeah it is definitely on. @buwaytress

Don't spend the winnings till the end of September Wink

buwaytress, dude, you paid out on a bet you didn’t lose (not yet at least).

rdbase said Izzy would fight Pereira "by the end of the summer."

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5312070.msg59472771#msg59472771

Yes, thanks for restating the rules my man -- rdbase only wins if the fight happens by September.

I actually want to also state that there's no bet that ever took place, since no stake was even ever mentioned.

Nevertheless, this one a wee bit personal for me, to consider this matter closed for good Wink
3939  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Cost to Mine 1 BTC in every country on: July 14, 2022, 05:18:28 PM
Some think of them as those individual generators that you have in your house for backup solutions when the grid is down.
Those real gas powered generators are indeed damn reliable, our largest logistic center was finished before an underground line that need to go under a river was finished by the electric company, so two monsters systems each with 3MW supplied the power for about 3 months, 24/7 with not a single failure.
But god, the noise and the heat, you couldn't hear trucks rushing in and out of the gates when you were standing near them.

Haha aye, my state (1 of 14 in my country) produces so much natural gas we've been flaring them since as long as I can remember, more chimneys flaring over the years -- and I'm quite old.

Have had fantasies of using it all up with a few of those power generators, make a deal to power share off all that wasted gas. They really are quite intensive mfs, but I've never seen them in use anywhere else, and from the responses on the thread, yeah I guess most of the world won't recognise them. I'd say they're fairly new tech, but I'm far from being an expert
3940  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin’s unrelenting selloff puts prices on verge of $20k as market shows on: July 14, 2022, 01:13:56 PM
I kind of like franky1's use of banana to explain and in this current climate where inflation is really coming in thick and fast, it makes a lot of sense. Definitely remember when TP and handwash were priced well above what was supposed to be "true value". I hate to think of it in the Bitcoin sense but I guess all that demand -- buying Bitcoin now because it's still cheaper than making it yourself -- means we're actually at a slightly higher-than-true-value price (in current climate).

Nevertheless, also as DaveF notes, there's a lot of people highly suited to this kind of sideways trading. Think there was a record short yesterday prior to the price slip but bettors made their quick 5% gains and then price went right back up.

It's not so much an unrelenting selloff as a standstill between desire to keep profiting from tight ranges, and unwilling demand.
