i think phil should get a free padaminer for his excellent review. doesnt seem fair to give one out for a new review when phil paid for his.
that being said, i would like to review one. i am a typical home miner with limited space and power and would need to consider noise also. i have an infrared temp gun, power meter and would get a SPL (sound) meter to check noise levels. i would document everything from initial unboxing to pool setup as well as any modifications to make it a more home oriented miner rather than industrial miner.

server psu's are the way to go now that pico's are here and cheap enough along with being able to pick up a server grade psu and breakout board vs an atx psu especially with those that are using risers. though I have ask why did you post that here if only to advertise your frame? and not actually contribute to the thread
yeah, mobos with server psu/pico adapter and 4+ cards would almost certainly to use need powered risers, and not be able to be plugged straight into the mobo. when no risers are used the card would draw power from the mobo pcie socket which is powered by the pico. worse case is 75 w per pcie slot. with 4 cards thats 300 watts. plus say 75 for mobo/cpu/drive/ram that is 375 watts worse case for the pico to supply. biggest pico ive seen is 250 watts, and i dont know if thats continuous. maybe they have more powerful ones? dunno

congrats jk!
this thread definitely had some slick setups.

can I use my Corsair 450W PSU? Eastshore guys recommend at least 600W PSU, not sure why, if miner is rated at 400W?
cheap psus overrate their capacity, so by specifying 600 they figure even if you use a junk 600 that can actually only provide 500 it will still work. kinda like when amd/nvidia spec a minimum psu of say 600 watts for thier card when a good 450 will do. you should get a power meter like a kill-o-watt to get actual power draw.

@phil
what are you currently running -decri at for dual mining with eth/decr?
im at -decri 60 for my stock 390, went from 29.6 to 28.9 so not much of a drop. cdm 8.0, -ethi 12, win7, G1840 cpu, 8 gb ram
the 470s drop a lot with increasing -decri but the 390 holds on longer.

how do you identify the hanging card? Besides one of my cards seems to not like downvolt. The order in device manager, mobo, sapphire trixx, and miner software... Are those all have same order? Lets say if GPU 0 is first gpu in miner, is it also first gpu on device manager and Sapphire Trixx program?
no. physical slot, msi afterburner (or trixx) and claymore numbers can be different. i made a chart and left it next to the rig. you can probably identify a card in claymore by messing with its fan.

I have a question mining related : do anyone have already got the problem when disconnecting teamviewer leads to the RIG crash and reboot ?
No problem as long as teamviewer remains connected to the RIG , or of course as long as teamviewer has not been connected. But If I connect to check or do some settings, I can't disconnect the remote access without getting crash of this particular RIG ..
sorry, using tightvnc here.

quoted so pics can show up. Some cool ideas here! Well, I only have a temporary test rig, but on the chance that there does end up being a "ghetto rig" prize, I'll throw my hat in. Stuff is holding on with clamps, no wire management, I just wanted to get her running as soon as the parts came in, and got around to bios modding and tweaking afterburner for best performance. This is my first ever rig, and busy as I am, I have yet to cut wood to build the custom shelves I plan on putting it on. See last pic for shelves - from Ikea. Rig is running 178Mhs ETH + 870Mhs Pasc dual mining - 950 watts to the wall - 6x 470 Nitro+ cards - top notch risers from hawkfish007

how can I stop following a thread here in btc?

citronick I followed your advice pointing everything at nicehash.
Although I still think 3% fee is a tad high from Nicehash but.... there are more pros than cons by selling/renting out your hash. ive had my single dedicated rig dual mining at nicehash for the last month or so. it is definitely more convenient than shifting pools and hitting exchanges every few days or whenever to get btc. just mines to my btc wallet. i do keep the one 390 on my daily driver doing eth only and pointed to an eth pool (dwarfpool atm) to dribble eth to my wallet. so basically 4 out 5 cards at nicepool.

that psu has overcurrent protection, it should just shut down if overloaded. not blow and make a "bang" noise, which indicated physical damage to the psu.
the psu is toast.
RMA it.

Claymore, it is common to bump the version number for fixing issues.
It would be really helpful to the community if you called the memleak fix "12.2.1" or even "12.3"
i agree. when i load my watchlist with this thread the title would show "12.2.1" and i would not need to read it every new post to know that a bugfix has happened. as it is i never know if i have the latest version unless i read every single post.

Sata is nice of course, but I'd be fine without, simplemining on a usb.
could be optional but it would be nice for non m2 mobos and those who want non usb based rigs.

im waiting for a decent miner oriented pico psu adapter for my sidehack server psu/breakout board too.
needs: 6 pin pcie input 4 pin cpu power cable (long) sata power lead (long)

grabbed gravity for my note 4
"10's of downloads" <-- i would think there would be more of the "faithful" downloading it by now than this. with all the hoopla and all. im mean less than 200 downloads? where is everybody?
gameplay sucked. graphics sucked. no polish. played it for about a minute.
back button does not work to get back to game menu.. exited it by killing it via task manager.
uninstalled.

decred not pasc
the test above is using 6 rigs 5 with 2 gpus and 1 with 1 gpu.
all rigs normally use 4 cards.
the cards are
rx 470 4gb rx 470 8gb rx 480 8gb
no one is going to do this normally run a 6 card rig with 3 gpus and an i5 or in my case a 4 card rig with 2 gpus and an i5
normally these rigs all use 4 cards.
interesting, when i mined decred as 2nd i remember -decri being in the 40s but never benched beyond that iirc. ill probably swith to decred in a few days. what cpus were you using? thought you ran mainly celerons and a 6400t or two.

the intensity setting can influence the cpu usage but there should be no issues gpu mining with that cpu. [...] there are tons of 4-6 gpu rigs dual mining with less cpu than that, celeron G1820 and G1840 are very common in miner rigs. i use a G1840 with 4 gpus and dual mine eth+pasc. cpu load is arount 18% with -ethi 12 and -dcri 20. using win7.
yeah but can you do -ethi 5 and -dcri 64 ? this where my eth falls off at -ethi 5 and -dcri 60 my eth does not fall off much at all is that with pasc as the second coin? with those settings on pasc as the second coin my 390 and 460 eth rate dropped about 50%, one 470 (samsung) dropped 60%, the hynix 470 dropped about 30%. so the cards (or the coin) seem to be the difference as my cpu (G1840) is stronger than your panda cpu and my cpu topped out at 20% (so maybe 2% more cpu usage) anyway so power to spare in that . or perhaps its win7. your panda is 480Ms with 8 megs right? EDIT lemme try my 3570k cpu and 390... i will amend this later as i have to set up the second coin on this box.

However, is there a chance that this could also negatively impact dual mining with either ETH + DCR or ETH + PASC? Some of the comments I've seen lately have me a bit worried about this so wanting to get some feedback before building this new rig with that G3258 in it.
the intensity setting can influence the cpu usage but there should be no issues gpu mining with that cpu. there have been occasional miner versions, including claymores cdm, that used lots of cpu but its generally fixed next version. there are tons of 4-6 gpu rigs dual mining with less cpu than that, celeron G1820 and G1840 are very common in miner rigs. i use a G1840 with 4 gpus and dual mine eth+pasc. cpu load is arount 18% with -ethi 12 and -dcri 20. using win7.

is there a difference in payout between mining directly with my own miner at a nicehash pool and mining with the nicehash miner? besides auto switching coins.
