Considering how complicated Bitcoin decimals are already, this is probably too much to add for the average Joe. the closest i found in the ascii code was ⩧ or ≡ That last one is a menu button  |

Why should the Satoshi have a separate symbol? The difference is that $0.02 is much easier to read than 0.00000002 BTC, and considering the much higher value of Bitcoin, amounts far behind the comma are much more common than "easier to read" amounts (like 1.2 BTC). |

I'm still partial to μBTC. Having the two units after the decimal place, tenths and hundredths, is what most people have become accustomed to when looking at the price of goods and services.
You could price something as 361350 satoshi, but in my mind, 3613.50 μBTC looks more recognisable and familiar. I've never liked "micro" as a unit. When you write "3613.50 μBTC", I convert it in my mind to "3.6135 mBTC", and then know that's about $90 (preev.com: $96.95, so close enough). One of the problems with "micro" is that you can't easily type it, and it ends up as "uBTC" which is technically incorrect. Another name for "μBTC" is "bits", but that doesn't have "Bitcoin" in the name anymore. I've had some further thoughts on this, especially in relation to Sterling. If I want to list an item for 5 pounds, then I can print £5, but if it is only 5 pence, then I can list it as 5p. I'm going to adopt the same concept with Satoshi. ie. 50 Satoshi will be 50s. I'm hoping that this won't appear similar to 505 in some fonts. The problem with "5p" is that it may be common in England, the rest of the world doesn't know what it is. To me, "50s" looks like "50 seconds", and I don't think we should use an existing SI-unit for something else. You know what Loyce, you may actually be onto something! I believe that there should be no minimum post quota to be eligible for payment, or that the minimum should be 1 post. However, we must not forget that the manager is always looking for active posters to ensure the success of the campaign, and for this they set a minimum quota that can reach 25 posts per week. I have been in a signature campaign that Royce has been running for several months, and the minimum number of posts eligible for payment is 5, which, in my estimation, is a very acceptable limit. I have a different view: users with many old posts who rarely make any new posts are cheap for advertising! You don't have to pay for the thousands of posts with signature they have already, and you'll only pay for a few new ones per week. This reminds me: I think a small payment per existing post could even make sense, instead of only paying for new posts. |

Well, okay, let's imagine for instance that Tether comes to the forum and opens its topic to share news and answer questions. They hire one representative after another and this goes on for some time. Then it's revealed anyhow that one of those guys they hired was a ban evader during he worked for Tether as their representative. That's the opposite case, and I guess it can be handled on a per-case basis. What Royse777 was suggesting is that a banned user can continue posting using Tether's account. I don't think that's allowed. Or maybe Tether in this case should just be held liable for their employees' spam, and be banned forever. I wouldn't miss them. |

Since your brain is malfunctioning, you are going to say Royse777 is ban evading. If you (the banned guy sitting behind your keyboard in this scenario) posts using the "shared" account, you're guilty of ban evading (which deserves a permanent ban). The answer is not going to be straight forward. It may get more complicated if not you, but some of the other people used the "shared" account. But considering how difficult it would be to prove that, it's much safer not to use the "shared" account at all if either one of the users with access is banned. If casinocritique was not representing casinocritique.com but it was representing Royse777 then casinocritique was breaking rules. It doesn't matter who you (claim to) represent: bans are personal, they're not limited to an account, but to a person. If I'd get banned, I wouldn't be allowed to create an alt and then say I represent the pope. I think you completely misunderstood how bans on Bitcointalk work. how a business account can be treated as a personal account where it's obvious that the business account was not handled by the single person who was accused to have a ban on the forum? Both Ledger Live and Ledger Firmware handle your complete seed, and prepare it for transport off of the device. The seed is encrypted, and Ledger has promised that the number of people who can decrypt the seed are small. The current Bitcoin price would be 0.0005032273226268366 and Satoshi would be 50560.637930455334 What's the point of so many decimals? I would quote 50560 Satoshi, but that could frighten a buyer. The Bitcoin price of 0.0005 looks more manageable, but will probably confuse the buyer. If this confuses the buyer, they probably shouldn't be using Bitcoin  My personal preference: 0.5056 mBTC. I've liked this ever since I started with Bitcoin (1mBTC was about $0.20 at the time), and for years it's Electrum's default. It's the closest value to a dollar/euro/pound, and in most cases prevents having to count zeros. Another alternative would be to quote the price in Sterling, and include a link to a conversion site such as coinbase or XE. Do any of you guys list low cost items in Bitcoin? That's what most websites do, but for those websites, Bitcoin is just one of many payment options. If you only accept Bitcoin, you could just as well show the Bitcoin price. I know people aren't fans of mBTC Is that an American thing? Here, SI-units are pretty much standard for anything (mg, ml, mm, mmol, mBTC). |

But in my mind, I don't think any of us (or I) will even suggest our kids, someone who is known, a close relative or friends who is not adult yet to join the forum. I don't suggest it for another reason: privacy. We have gambling sub-board, there are no rules need to mention that one doesn't need to be 18+ Agreed. But kids could just skip those boards, just like they can skip many other gambling websites. We have reputation sub-board, people do not mind to use in-appropriate slang towards each others I haven't seen anything worse on Bitcointalk than what I've heard at schools  I don't think I will encourage my girl to read what I write, not at least she become 18 or at least adult enough to handle the world of adults. I won't encourage it, but if my kids find their way to a Bitcoin forum online, I'd be proud I'm pretty sure there are much more dangerous websites than Bitcointalk. I already teach my kids not to use their real name (in games), and they use email addresses without any personal information for registration. When they're a bit older, I'll add the dangers of the internet to the list. I can't wait until they're 18 and then suddenly release them into the wild, they need to learn it, and the best time to do so is while they're young. How is this still Meta related? I'm not sure "Offensive words" are difficult for kids, it's so easy for them to take it personal. But still, school is much worse than Bitcointalk. |
