It's good to have more alternatives, good work OP no matter that the problem is fixed, theymos will probably add those that are missing from the nkampala's list.
3962  Other / Meta / Re: How “we” do you feel? on: September 05, 2018, 08:00:02 PM
@OP I thought its only me addicted to the forum. Believe me or not it's not for the money, they are just a side effect.
When I came here had no idea what this place was. Every newbie/almost/ was fearing Lauda that time, and I had to read a little about him to see what was so special about him and then digging around found about QS, then Vod, TMAN, suchmoon, OgNasty and all the drama in the forum. The Pharmacist was not so active, as he was removed from the DTs that time but I read about his reputation... Digging in the history of the forum is amazing.

The only thing I regret is the lack of free time, just to read more...

Thanks to the pre-merit discussion I had the chance to interact with some of those famous forum members.
And it happen somehow now I can say I'm part of the community I found people to talk to, people with similar interests. The forum is more addictive that I expected.

@Welsh
You are describing my situation here. I love reporting way before it was popular just because of the good feeling that you do something to stop those who are trying to cheat. I hate this kind of attitude IRL so here was a way to put those on their right place. You and LoyceV were those who I got more inspiration, full respect.

Still love it but no time to report as before.

It is amazing place here, I'm so lucky to be around you guys. Thanks.

And you are writing from your member alt account now??
Ban evading??
3964  Other / Meta / Re: Plagiarism vs honest mistakes: BAN or nuance? on: September 05, 2018, 07:13:35 AM
Omg, I didn't even see that I had failed in quoting Lafu's post. What a mess.
What I try to do often is to take away the text not relevant to my comment, but most of the time I do it from the phone and and I just delete the previous comments, leaving the last one.

I can see now that people can make a mistake while quoting, but those a quite rare cases.
Most ot the time while reporting plagiarism, I see clearly copy/pastes.

I'll pay more attention when quotes are involved.

Just one thing, if the abusers start to put "[/quote]" in their plagiarism posts isn't this a way to escape the ban?
3965  Other / Meta / Re: Most entertaining person on bitcointalk - POLL - 12 days - 3 votes per member on: September 05, 2018, 06:18:27 AM
How are the values for your most recognized list calculated exactly? I don't know how I managed to pull #325, but I am interested in knowing what criteria are used when calculating the list, if possible. I looked around and didn't see any information regarding that, so apologies if I just missed it like a goof.

I was also a bit confused calculating the score but thanks to LoyceV, now everything is clear.

How are those recognition scores calculated
Recognition = (Activity Rank + Trust Rank + Merit Rank) / 3

In your case:
(775 + 538 + 1000) / 3 = 771
Your Trust Rank is set to 1000, because you don't make the Top 1000.
This Value 771 puts you at #913, shared with some other users.

3967  Other / Beginners & Help / Here I changed it :) on: September 04, 2018, 09:19:03 PM
Something interesting, you can check the first replies of the thread, The subject is starting with "Re:" there is normally the initial name of the thread and it's not changed [1].
Of course if they have changed the name before anyone replied or they did the first replies this is possible but I really doubt it.

I have changed my reply subject Smiley

[1] Here is the initial subject of the thread you talked about >

3968  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Begging merits on: September 04, 2018, 09:10:25 PM
As you have already been warned about the merit, now it's time to lock this thread, to avoid further spam.
This is another issue you have to think about, opening a thread and leave it unattended later it becomes a Spammy Megathread and guess what, you are on top of it, so just find in the bottom left corner the "Lock" link and click it Smiley
3969  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Security - router on: September 04, 2018, 09:06:09 PM
ty you for sharing this.
but i think this can be achieved easier. Never use a router that a ISP offers you and never let anybody else alter setting.
use something like Linksys WRT1900ACS and install https://dd-wrt.com

In addition to this, if you are a bit more thechy just grab an old PC and run a proper free software like pfSense or MikroTik.
Then you can setup your own VPN and Firewall not only routing.
I have a Load Balancing configured and I can say that there's nothing better than a backup line Smiley
3970  Other / Meta / Re: Help for heroes on: September 04, 2018, 08:58:34 PM
Just make them bring back the Bitcoin Discussion Board back to us, as stimulate the discussions and self-moderated threads there. Nothing is better that a good discussions and there is the right place to make them, /i know now is a bit shity, but we have to do something to take it back, as someone already mentioned it/

3972  Other / Meta / Re: Community-Led Development of Bitcointalk? on: September 04, 2018, 08:25:31 PM
As it was already mentioned the trust problem, I'll focus on another solution.
How about we concentrate on thinks which we as a community can change, like tagging the bounty managers allowing spam. We have to find alternative ways which does not required any actions from theymos to deal with the problems we currently have.
3973  Other / Meta / Re: Have we left "Bitcoin Discussion" board for spammers, forever?? on: September 04, 2018, 08:19:47 PM
I started an initiative some time ago to make only self-moderated threads there to fight the sig. spam. I even stated a thread and got some success in way of discussion.
[Discussion]How to decentralize the price of the bitcoin? Self-moderated.
I think if we follow this way of posting we may have some part of the section back to the real discussions.

Now the OP is updated.

@Lafu, if you want the accounts in this thread listed, just add a note in your post and I'm sure LoyceV will take care when he has the chance Wink

Hey finally something funny and entertaining without the usual drama. Let's keep this trend going Wink
Wondering what will be the prize for the winner?
I can't wait for the results Wink

Hey guys/girls? I'm away this week and I won't be able to update the OP with the reserved accounts as often as I want so if you receive something better check the last posts to avoid double work.

I'll try to be here at least once a day but I can't promise.
3977  Other / Meta / Re: Request: add bitcointalk.TO to [phishing] list on: September 03, 2018, 05:10:19 PM
I'm pretty sure that theymos has seen this, what can be the reason that it's not added yet to the list with phishing sites?

3978  Other / Meta / Re: Most entertaining person on bitcointalk ? on: September 03, 2018, 04:59:26 PM
There are many deserving to be on that list, just wonder if  Nullius is suitable as he is not active anymore but made quite a furor back then.

Only criteria is that the account is currently active.

Damnit I always get excited about the main idea of the post and miss the small clues. Sorry.

Voting for TMAN Smiley
3979  Other / Meta / Re: I've just awarded this guy with 3 merits on: September 03, 2018, 08:25:39 AM
Awarding merits is a fairly simple way to encourage members to make interesting posts, and to indicate community approval of their opinions and ideas. If you don't encourage senior members, then they will assume that the community doesn't think their ideas are worthwhile, and they will stop suggesting them. It is extremely difficult to get any traction for new ideas, and even harder to preserve continuity. I gave up on my merit source blog, "ask a legendary", and some of the other projects, as there didn't seem to be any interest in them. Fit to Talk is a bit sporadic as well. The blab chatroom has now become a social room for three of us, and it is no longer something to improve Bitcoin Talk.

It would be good if we could agree on some positive group initiative. There are several community action groups, but they all seem to focus on the negative aspects of posters. Those are essential to police the forum, but we need some positive projects alongside them to replace the rubbish posting.

The problem is that here you have to fight a mentality not a laziness. You can say that people will make good posts to earn merit just because they want merit and have some interest in the field and this is the right way to do it, but most of the shitposters are here have different mentality. They don't see advantages or disadvantages of the ICOs, bitcoin or whatever they don't care about such things, they see the system here only as an instrument of making easy money, an system open for abuse and it doesn't matter if this is legal or illegal as soon as nobody will catch them and make profit.

Almost no one cares about the ideology any more everyone is after the profit..

I'll continue busting their asses no matter if they like it or not. I know that it looks like nothing, a drop in the ocean, pointless work,  but someone has to do something, and this is what I can do alone.
