I'm a believer of "If in doubt, please ask" so don't bash me here  Smiley.
3962  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING ]: Fury vs Wilder III in Las Vegas on 18th July 2020 !!! on: June 18, 2020, 09:50:08 PM
1 month till the fight, and according to Fury Instagram, he is still having his last day at home due to lockdown. It is possible to prepare for a fight in 1 month ?

I think this match will be rescheduled to a later date since one month of training is not enough for this championship match. 8 weeks of intense training is appropriate but i don't know if they can do that since their movement will be limited cause the virus is still around.

Your prediction, will Wilder wear something during his walkout, or this time he doesn't plan to get tired before the fight ? Cheesy

Why repeat the stupid act?  Smiley
3963  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]Joshua Greer Jr. vs. Mike Plania on: June 17, 2020, 11:19:57 PM
I really did not expect this upset and i just had this as a big parlay and i fucked up because of putting Joshua Greer Jr money line after watching his fight against Antonio Nieves and i did not expect Mike Plania to dominate and he dropped Joshua Greer multiple times throughout the fight .

@OP it was a great move to wage a bet on the underdog Mike Plania.

Anything can happen in boxing and my guts tell me that this could be an upset because Greer is fighting a Filipino fighter with a nice win-loss record. TBH, i have not seen Plania fight, it's just instinct that this kid must be good because of his record and the most important thing to note is that if a Filipino boxer would fight overseas, he would give all he got because that fight may be his last. So it's a no-brainer that i would bet with my compatriot, win or lose.

Mike Plania is not really that explosive fighter but he knows how to hurt his opponent I just notice he lacks jabs and did not take the opportunity when there is an open opportunity, he needs to train more or get a good trainer and conditioner coach to upgrade hid fighting style, but he has a good chance for a title.

The kid is raw for now and you are right he needs more fight to be compared to the likes of Manny Pacquaio but at least he is making the very first big step right on his favor.

Thanks a lot guys for your comments here, will lock this thread in a few hours.
3964  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: [MEGATHREAD] Pilipinas Coronavirus/COVID-19 Thread on: June 17, 2020, 05:55:34 AM
balita kagabi na ibabalik daw sa ECQ ang cebu at talisay dahil sa pagdami ulit ng cases kada araw sa area nila. eto na nga ba sinasabi ko eh. people let their guard down after the government lifting the strictness of the quarantine from ECQ to GCQ/MGCQ etc.. dito mo malalman na kung gaano tlga ka walang disiplina ang ibang pilipino.

“We will give attention to Cebu City and Talisay because of the spike (in the number of infections). We are thinking of deploying additional police personnel in Cebu to ensure that the ECQ would be enforced,”

@Baofeng, what's your take on this one bro?

Too much hype around this kid to be honest, he honest show us anything yet, he is a slow starter. And it Plania will push in the early rounds (1-3) and really make Greer uncomfortable, he might caught him and change the complexion of the fight. Greer was caught with a check left hook during his last fight against Nieves, and almost go down. I'm sure Mike Plania's team have seen that video and for sure he will throw a lot of lefts in this fight. I will put a bet on Mike Plania here, good odds. I also don't like Greer's cockiness, reminds me of AB (Adrien Broner) when we was just making a name for himself.  Smiley

You are right here bro, Plania took the momentum of the fight in the first round with that wide left hook to the side of Greer's face (only video of the fight i have watched so far). Plania have a lot to improve with his raw talent and with this win, he is on the right track.

@bisdak40 I liked this fight and congratulations on betting on your compatriot Mike Plania. I saw that from the first round Plania showed that he was a great opponent sending Joshua to the canvas. The third round, Plania was determined to get up with victory. Finally, the fight was decided by the judges I am satisfied.

Thanks man, i like the odds for this fight considering that Plania is unknown figure from the Philippines. I'm betting on him out of instinct that Filipino fighters have a big heart and won't go down easily and that's exactly what we have seen tonight.

Coach Tab's comments might make sense but he can deliver it a nice way. It looks like he thinks he can just say anything because he has a good coaching career handling different countries. Definitely, he crossed the lines. International teams

Tab must consider that it's hard to implement that 3-4 imports. The cost and the expenses. If I have 3-4 imports and paying them decently, then surely I want to maximize my money by putting more minutes to them. It will leave 1-2 locals on the court which is not a PBA anymore lol. Other teams can't also afford to pay the cost for that.

And even with that system, let's accept that PH is really far from being a success in a global competition. We can dominate Asia, that's proven but taking it to the higher level will take several years in the making. Still, I admire Coach Tab and want to see him handling the Gilas in the future.

The thing with foreigners, specially with Europeans, they are frank . They will say what's on their mind no matter if someone will get hurt in the process. Coach Baldwin had a point but he is here in the Philippines long enough to know how to say so that he can't hurt anyone's feelings.

Getting 3-4 imports is near to impossible in our current scenario since only a couple of team owners can afford that one and for me it does help on the development of our local players. PBA is a business and teams are there because they are earning profit on their stay on the league and if they feel that they are losing, they will leave. Player development is not on the team owner's mindset, i think.

Sad to say that the level of competitiveness of our national team will just rely on the quality of Fil-foreigner player that will pop up in the future.
3967  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao Might Fight Golovkin on: June 16, 2020, 11:46:15 PM
It does not come from Manny directly but I think that Roach would not say that if Manny would not approve of that fight.
Of course, Arum here had some personal business too as he wants his boxer to fight Manny so he can make some good money from the fight.

Here's arum said about the Golovkin vs Pacquiao fight,

"It’s a stupid fight. I know Golovkin appears to be over the hill, but it’s a fight that could be very dangerous for Pacquiao." - Bob Arum (AP Photo/Mark J. Terrill)

This one always says, it's workable at catchweight

But the thing is, Freddie Roach is not part of Team Pacquaio anymore. He is only there when there is a fight as a consultant (given to him by Manny for some sort of gratitude for all he have done to Manny) on a per fight basis. All the words that came from his mouth is a pure opinion and the two of them does not engage in a conversation at all.

This fantasy fight would only occur at 147lbs which i don't think GGG is willing to take besides what would he get if he fought Manny this time, money? GGG would be better be pursuing that trilogy with Canelo for more money and he is not going out of his comfort zone.

For Manny, even if he beat GGG at 147lbs, that would not count as a fight for the Middleweight, so the purpose of fighting for that 9th division title is defeated and it will leave a bad taste in the mouth to some boxing fans.
3968  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao Might Fight Golovkin on: June 16, 2020, 12:29:49 PM
Crawford vs Pacquiao should be the best option for Manny if indeed it will be his last fight.

Or maybe Pacquiao vs Spence. Crawford  and Spence are the two undefeated champion that people could possibly match Manny, but why is it Manny calling GGG instead of these two? I'm a bit confuse here. Roll Eyes

For the record bro, Manny is not calling on GGG to fight him instead it is Roach who floated the idea of a Manny vs GGG fight while it is Arum who wants Crawford to fight Manny but i won't be surprised if at the end of the day, Manny would choose to fight one of the Garcia's.
3969  Economy / Gambling discussion / [Boxing]Joshua Greer Jr. vs. Mike Plania on: June 16, 2020, 11:51:21 AM

Just can't resist to make a thread for this fight as this is one way of supporting my compatriot in a fight where he is literally alone in Las Vegas lol. Not a big fight for most of you here but for some, this is interesting. Filipino boxers won't go down without a fight.

Greer and Plania will slug it out at 120 lbs catch weight a few hours from now.

Bookies had Greek as the favorite on this fight with an odd, Greer 1.33 Plania 3.25.

Of course i am betting on the underdog here. See below.

What are your thoughts on this guys?

@Baofeng, what's your take on this one bro?

Again, negative comment on Pacquiao from Arum.
~snip~
Golovkin fight ‘very dangerous’ for Pacquiao, says Arum

It seems like I haven't heard any positive comment from Arum on Pacquiao recently, even on the previous fight of Manny against Thurman, Arum was still negative about Manny.

Quote
Manny Pacquiao faces one of his most dangerous opponents in years in unbeaten American Keith Thurman, and promoter Bob Arum feels worried

People, do you think Arum here are giving us betting tips? we will win if we bet against his statement. Grin

I'll go with Bob Arum as i see his advise to Manny as a fatherly one lol. I think he made that comment because he wants his fighter, Crawford to fight Manny instead of GGG. Months ago he said that Spence and Crawford are dangerous opponents for Manny but with the name of GGG floating around as a possible opponent of Manny, Arum changes his tune. This is because this might be the last fight of Manny and the outcome would not be good to him so why not fare his fighter against his former cash cow, milking him for the last time  Smiley.
3971  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao Might Fight Golovkin on: June 15, 2020, 11:33:54 AM
Man, I dont know who will have the odd in this fight.

There's no odds for this fight as it's only an speculation until now, though the camp of Manny showed interest on fighting Golovkin but this fight is not yet confirmed, but in case it's going to be realize, I think Golovkin will be the favorite here.

On what basis that Golovkin might be the favorite here?

GGG is a champion and he is never been knock-out in his fights before and obviously he is the bigger fighter of the two, that alone is a big factor in a fight and before i forgot, he is also younger than Manny.

Manny Pacquiao is the most popular boxer in our time ,yeah he is older than this fighter but remember how many Big names with younger ages but Manny break them inside the ring.

Popularity does not guarantee you an automatic win in a boxing fight. When Manny defeated those big names in boxing before, he was on his peak. The hands speed, in and out movement, punches from an awkward angle, those attributes where there and now he is 41 and things have changed and we can see that obviously in the Thurman fight.

TBH I am not aware that Fajardo started with ABL, I thought after college he was drafted by the SMB.
You are right, if Fajardo was not given good minutes in the PBA, he would not become the best player in the league now as this guy is not really a born basketball player, he started late in basketball already unlike other kids that from elementary, they already have a proper training on basketball.

Even before Junemar graduated college in University of Cebu, there's a buzz in town that San Miguel already own Fajardo lol. When Fajardo graduated college, he did not join the draft yet because San Miguel did not own the first over-all pick yet (my theory  Grin) so to keep him active they sign him on the ABL. In 2012, SMC paved the way by trading their veterans including the Cebuano Hotshot, Dondon Hontiveros to Barako Bull in exchange for the number one over-all pick and the rest is history lol.

Same here. How could you develop your local players if they kept on sitting on the bench.

Just take a look at our Philippine team in the ABL, correct me if i'm wrong, they've got three imports and playing heavy minutes so what's left for the locals. Also, Fajardo did came from ABL before being drafted in the PBA and only a few people notice his potential because of the lack of playing time there.

Now coach Tab want a meeting with the PBA to explain his side Smiley.

3976  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Betting this June? on: June 13, 2020, 08:56:35 AM
So here are the numbers:

Magdaleno vs Yenifel Vicente - the telecast peaked at 392,000 viewers, average 311,000 viewers
Stevenson vs Caraballo - the telecast peaked at 609,000 viewers, average at 397,000 viewer

https://www.boxingscene.com/magdaleno-vicente-espn-telecast-peaked-392k-viewers-averaged-311k--149472

I would say not bad after-all, this is just the first fight telecast live in this pandemic, just imagine if these are top tier fighters, I'm sure it can go as high as 1 million viewers on average.

Yeah, not bad at all. Just curious if Top Rank did profit on those fights or it's just a gimme by Bob Arum to the followers of the sweet science.

For top tier fighters, IMO they will wait until audience could watch to generate more revenue from the gate.
3977  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao Might Fight Golovkin on: June 12, 2020, 12:24:29 AM
Thurman was the stepping stone of Manny on why he is back now, and these young fighters wants him but it's difference when Manny chooses and I like to believe that as he choose GGG, he is capable of betting him more than we think.

For the record bro, Manny never said that he wants to fight GGG. This idea was floated by Roach as i mentioned in my previous post. I also tend to believe that at this point of his career, Manny is so smart that he would not pick this fight.

Do you think Spence and Crawford belongs to B-grade fighters? Grin ,... because I do.

Then who are the A-grade fighters for you, for me, those two are.

Abueva Issue  Smiley.

We have different opinion on this issue and here's mine.

Calvin made a mistake and suffer the consequences of that one as he was suspended indefinitely by the commissioner which i thought Calvin deserves. More than a year have passed but still it's not been lifted yet as the commissioner said that Calvin need to complete some requirement before he will assess Abueva's fate. I think also that this is too much. We have seen worse scenario in the NBA than that of Calvin and Jones and NBA acted appropriately.

Inserting a quote from a sportswriter here,

Quote
When Ron Artest swung his fists recklessly during the 'Malice in the Palace' fracas last November 2004, he was suspended for the remainder of the season which was no more than seven months.

Quote
The painfully slow adjudication of this case should be the watershed moment for PBA players to seriously consider forming a union that will advocate for them and protect them from unfair and unjust penalties.

The fate of Calvin is fully controlled by the commissioner but what are the safeguards in place so that the commissioner won't abuse that power? PBA player's union?
3980  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Betting this June? on: June 11, 2020, 05:46:06 AM
This month of June would be an exciting one for Filipino fight fans as Mike Plania will slug it out with Joshua Greer Jr. in a 10 round fight, 120 pounds catchweight on June 17, 2020 MGM Grand, Las Vegas. Joshua Greer's name floated last month as a substitute for Inoue to fight Casimero but i guess it's scrap since Bob Arum expecting the fight between Casimero and Inoue would push through this July.

Anyone knows what bookies offer odds for this fight?

Interesting to see what the is the odds for this fight, Greer i think would be the favorite here but i'm betting for my countryman here as Filipino fighters are tough and unpredictable  Smiley.
