There are many deserving to be on that list, just wonder if  Nullius is suitable as he is not active anymore but made quite a furor back then.

Only criteria is that the account is currently active.

Damnit I always get excited about the main idea of the post and miss the small clues. Sorry.

Voting for TMAN Smiley
3982  Other / Meta / Re: I've just awarded this guy with 3 merits on: September 03, 2018, 08:25:39 AM
Awarding merits is a fairly simple way to encourage members to make interesting posts, and to indicate community approval of their opinions and ideas. If you don't encourage senior members, then they will assume that the community doesn't think their ideas are worthwhile, and they will stop suggesting them. It is extremely difficult to get any traction for new ideas, and even harder to preserve continuity. I gave up on my merit source blog, "ask a legendary", and some of the other projects, as there didn't seem to be any interest in them. Fit to Talk is a bit sporadic as well. The blab chatroom has now become a social room for three of us, and it is no longer something to improve Bitcoin Talk.

It would be good if we could agree on some positive group initiative. There are several community action groups, but they all seem to focus on the negative aspects of posters. Those are essential to police the forum, but we need some positive projects alongside them to replace the rubbish posting.

The problem is that here you have to fight a mentality not a laziness. You can say that people will make good posts to earn merit just because they want merit and have some interest in the field and this is the right way to do it, but most of the shitposters are here have different mentality. They don't see advantages or disadvantages of the ICOs, bitcoin or whatever they don't care about such things, they see the system here only as an instrument of making easy money, an system open for abuse and it doesn't matter if this is legal or illegal as soon as nobody will catch them and make profit.

Almost no one cares about the ideology any more everyone is after the profit..

I'll continue busting their asses no matter if they like it or not. I know that it looks like nothing, a drop in the ocean, pointless work,  but someone has to do something, and this is what I can do alone.

If one newbie post is really good, then it's plagiarism.
Now the hompgraphs doesn't help them anymore so it's easy to catch them.

Well, do not generalize, but you are right somehow. Even when, by checking some good newbies or jr' s post, you can find a lot of plagiarism,  I'm a newbie too, so I can't just lose faith completely.

Well I don't. That's the rule and as any other rule, there are some exceptions, and yes, you are one of those exceptions.
As I said the faith is lost again I didn't said it's lost completely.

@Loyce sorry for washing your time, now it's more clear Smiley
I thought that is based on the values not the scores that's where the error cane from.

It's easier to report them only for plagiarism, so they get banned directly, instead of removing only the posts.
I'll do it if the comments are not deleted yet.

I don't know about the rest of the crowd here but for me the ban is the best solution, lately after reading some of the comments of one of the global mods hilariousandco seems like even banning shitposters is not effective anymore as they just come with a new account. We need a new, more global strategy to fight the spam without bothering theymos as he is has quite a lot on his head already. So one approach is to focus on the bounty managers, those who should control the spam in the first place.

I don't think people really care about the site's traffic as till now the biggest part is generated by shitposters and big part of the investors already has turned their backs because of the mess and scamming, that's just my personal opinion.

Edited due to a wrong quote.

3990  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Announcing BPIP - The Bitcointalk Public Information Project! on: September 02, 2018, 02:43:32 PM
How are those recognition scores calculated
Recognition = (Activity Rank + Trust Rank + Merit Rank) / 3

In your case:
(775 + 538 + 1000) / 3 = 771
Your Trust Rank is set to 1000, because you don't make the Top 1000.
This Value 771 puts you at #913, shared with some other users.

Are you sure this is how is calculated?

I should have Recognition Value of :
(308 activity+391 merit+ 1000trust)/3 = 566.333

But I have recognition Value of 677.667

And recognition Rank 304.

Thanks, I was thinking to make a weekly list of the top merit receivers. Smiley
3992  Other / Meta / Re: New feature implementation @theymos on: September 02, 2018, 07:40:34 AM
Going back to one of my other questions, to satisfy my curiosity, does any of you know if a feature proposed by users was ever implemented?

If this counts, he fixed the problem with the hompgraphs which I suggested months ago.
I had to push a lot to get it done but the final result is important Smiley
Done. I only did the ones that look really similar to Latin characters, and it only applies to English sections. It's done at display time, so it's retroactive.

@Lafu
Have you reported those for plagiarism?

We have this one open Smiley not in the OP yet.
Part 5, keyword > impeccably
(1-400)
The results are all accounts posted/quoted the keyword. Total: 717
Update: This list is for the last 120 days

The newbie jail is long gone, years ago.
I'll just drop this here, it's gonna be a long wait...

I acknowledge that the current situation is very bad, and we have some plans for fixing it. I hope to have manual account reviews going smoothly again before the end of the year at the latest.

3995  Other / Meta / Re: Compromised Account Recovery Procedures on: September 01, 2018, 10:23:42 PM
The recovery process is hopeless as it takes months, but try moving this thread to Meta where it belongs.

I guess you know how to move threads. Just in case, lower left corner, you'll see the "Move" link.

Good, I'll update the OP tomorrow.
When we finish with the current open tasks I think we'll have to focus on the campaign managers, and start making list with those who allow spam.
This was discussed already in the Meta and will be more efficient way to fight the spam, maybe.
If you are willing to do so, while you're reporting shitposters you have to note which signature campaign they are into.

I'll try to come with a report template tomorrow.
Any suggestions are welcome.

3997  Other / Meta / Re: haw upload GIF on bitcointalk? on: September 01, 2018, 12:38:26 PM
Just a tip here, if you are uploading big vid. files don't use Imgur, because it converts to a .gifv format / video gif/ which is different from the normal .gif and you won't be able to view it here.

Use ezgif for example to convert the a video file to pure gif and then maybe upload it to Imgur.
3998  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Merit Dashboard on: August 31, 2018, 08:28:24 AM
How can I select all in the list and is it possible to export the results in some format?
This is in Received merit, I see that I can arrange them only when I select them.

BTW after trying to sort them I got an error:
3999  Other / Meta / Re: Campaign Managers and Bots. The main reason for the SPAM. Solutions? on: August 31, 2018, 07:48:29 AM
What causes the need for a special group of DefaultTrust members? Is there anything that prevents current DefaultTrust from leaving negative feedback on managers that create spam?

There's nothing stopping you or anyone leaving negative feedback for anything they want. The idea of a group was to make it more impartial like having some sort of jury and if the majority or all agree the campaign gets warned first and then negbombed if nothing changes. I don't think it should be left up to one person to decide though and I certainly don't want to be that person hence why I proposed there be a team to police them.
~

Well I don't think we can do anything else, without theymos intervention. Something has to be done and if we have on other option, then we can just do it.
If you are willing to the SmapBusters can focus on the bounty participants and if we gather many shitposts participating in one campaign we can make a list for tagging.

Any other suggestions are welcome.

Holy cow.. this is quite messed up, I think deserves a BAN don't you think so?
Time at times may not matter if we have the professionals actively involving in handling all the issues by analysing the rootcauses and proceeding to identifying analysis and figuring out the right solutions with a proper fix that adds value for the entire management to easily reach every level as per the whitepapers.
