I am sorry for the late response. Let me go back with all your questions.

newbies don't only seek merit from him but like a toddler on his mother's breast suck some tangible knowledge, it will help you after this merit giveaway is over.
True. I do it because I want to help the future of bitcointalk and also would prefer to bring some feelings of fairness to low rank users. It is the start of their adventure not the ends. I do hope that my 1 merit to each of them will keep them going forwards with better posts and contributions to the community.

Great, you have a good initiative to help other user by distributing sMerit on quality posts by reporting their post link on this thread. 1 sMerit for 1 user is the limit that you will distribute and that is the local rule in this thread. I just want to know why you are limiting your sMerit distribution to beginner, junior member, and member ?
As pointed out in OP, I was listed in the future of bitcointalk list, and I intend to help users who are in same period for now. It is same as campaigns, some restrict participants to Hero/ Legendary; some open their gates to at least Member rank. It is subjectively decision to run campaigns, contests.  Smiley

Merit must not be limited to rank and it must be oriented to the quality of the post made.
It is true, mate.

If i may ask, was Lordhermes' thread rejected because the users email isn't hidden? Can't be, can it?
You have a reason for it in your post. Another reason from my side is the poem reflects too general message, that I don't like. Honestly, I surprised that the poem get too much merit. Anyway, congratulate him on what he received from the poem.

In merit giveaways threads, you'd have a better chance to get merited if you apply with an unmerited or under-merited post
Applicants should do this but it is not my local rule. They are free to apply with their best posts (max to 3 posts).

Oops, bad. Thanks anyway for the advise, I have already hidden my email as you instructed. Good luck on your merit giveaway program.
No problem. Glad to help.

Now, it is the part for applications. Let me go through it.

Ok. Good posters get merits from me. For users who did not receive 1 merit from me, try you luck next time in this thread or in other merit giveaways.

Have a nice weekend, I love you all.  Grin

Hello Im not here for merits. How about even not newbie or low rank can send here, post of those newbies on the link of LoyceV, even without them knowing cause sometime we bump into good post by newbie and can we copy that post of his, and send it here.

Of course the merits go to the links we are going to share here just in case we see some quality post from them. Just a suggestion what do you think?
I know the list, sure, but there are different reasons why people receive merits. Not all of users in the list deserve merits they received. And clearly that I don't set a restriction that only users in the list can apply here.

Here, only users who think they have good posts and deserve merits, and apply will be considered.

Just give them Im sure you can collect 42 in no time. Advance congratulations.
Thanks.

TOR BROWSER may be best for access dark web I think tor browser something risky for new general  but tor is the best access Anonymous on Online, when general user access tor firstly faced new some off problem. your information is very useful.
i thing best way tor installed pen-drive,hardisk or portable devices.
Tor is created to improve privacy. If you care about your privacy, use Tor when you web-surf. Dark web or white web, you should use Tor for your privacy. Assume you have bitcoin, and make a transaction and want to check its confirmations, you should check it with Tor.

You don't know that the explorer you use to check transaction confirmations will use your data for their analyses or will sell their data to others. Your privacy will be lower if you don't use Tor.

I was there some weeks: The future of Bitcointalk: Low Ranking Top Merit earners in the past 30 days. Hence I understood what you are doing and what are challenging you when you are building up yourself to become a future of bitcointalk.

I have less than 50 sendable merits for you who are future of bitcointalk. If you deserve it, you can take merit from me.

No requirements to apply, except:
- Ranks: newbie, Jr. member, and Member.
- Apply with the post you think is your best. Please don't apply more than three posts.
- No daily or weekly merit cap, I will send without cap to all deserved people.
- Personal award cap: 1 merit per user.

One more rule: Only English post will be considered because I don't understand other languages and I don't want to be biassed by Google translator.

Rule update:
- One merit for one user. If you fail, you can re-apply later but if you win, your later application will not be considered.

A full disclosure: I have 42 sMerits and I am lack of 42 merits to go and reach Sr. member. What an interesting story!  Lips sealed

Update 2:
Thanks for all your support. Senior for now! 250 more merits to go

Personal update: I get my 300 merit. I am happy.

What's up? It is not new in life.

Don't buy any account on any platform (the forum, P2P marketplaces, exchanges, emails, PayPal, etc.) if you don't want to get annoying troubles, sometimes with financial loses or jail punishments. Who knows?

From the start, people choose to do this (buying accounts) because they want to do something shady and they believe or hope that there will be nothing bad knocks their doors. Such a life, sometimes their doors will be knocked without invitations.

Good post and I believe this will help quite a number of users new to ETH. I use those tools also and I consider them common knowledge, but after seeing your post I realized that probably a lot of newbies have no idea about Gas station and similar tools that can save them money and time.
You acquire not only knowledge but also financial benefits by saving more transaction fees as well as having more healthy life by minimize mentality problems, pressure, annoyance, and other uncomfortable feelings.

Lots of new crypto users tend to play blockchain games and use metamask to make actions in the game and loose quite a lot of funds by going automatic without any knowledge about gas intricacies.
I don't know that whether gamers have options to customize their fees when they are playing game. I guess they don't have such like gamblers on casinos. When they are playing games or gamling, no options for them but if they are moving their funds from games or casinos to exchanges/ wallets they can save transactions fees.
3987  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Visiting official websites and download official apps, not fake ones. on: July 11, 2020, 02:26:28 PM
A simple pro tip to visit official crypto related sites from one place is coinmarketcap.Yes it is.

You can find almost every crypto related websites with official links so you can trust them while visiting and also it is good to double check the link once you entered into the official site.
coinmarketcap.com is a legit site but it is not wisely to rely on a single site to find what you need. Start with coinmarketcap.com and double or trible check with results you get from other search engines.

A legit site can be compromised, we simply don't know when and how it will be compromised. We can only take care of ourselves and our capital.
3988  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A Simple Guide to Explaining Ethereum on: July 11, 2020, 01:34:33 PM
It is too simple: what do we need from crypto? Store money, move money. Fees are always considered to save more money left for our crypto transfers. Don't pay attention on fees will cost our transactions and charge us more unnecessary to miners.

Check and select good Gaswei for your needs

A question, since you receive merits/2 as sMerits, and when you send those sMerits to others, they will get halved too, doesn't it mean that someday, all sMerits will be 0?
There are more merits will be credited to the forum and merit sources will receive them. In turn, they will help to distribute those credited sMerits to forum community.

from July 5th I made 5 gambling posts.
I saw 4 gambling posts. For timezone, you have to use forum time zone. ANd it is the GMT time zone.
It is not correct. The manager does not say he uses GMT time zone and the image shows last post in Gambling board is at 11:11:27 PM (which time zone it is. Is it GMT time zone?). I think that there are a little bit sooner in the time zone manager uses, with 30 minutes to 1 hour in difference. Participant who has posts in the last 30 minutes to 1 hour of each week dead line can check and confirm. I only joined Bitamp campaign and did not notice this one.

As participant of any campaign, I don't wait till very last minutes before the dead line of each week to finish my post.
Each payment will be sent directly to your SegWit BTC address every Saturday (Each week will run from Saturdays to Fridays).
3993  Other / Meta / Re: A new group of scammers, make topics with phishing links. Please nuke them. on: July 11, 2020, 06:17:45 AM
A suggestion is to restrict topics from being locked until xx hours after it was made. This could be limited to brand-new/newbie accounts
Thank you for reporting them (that I think you did) but the idea is not necessary. Locked topics or not locked topics by them does not affect your report process. Report locked topics from scammers, moderators will step in and do their works. Or you can report topics and bring issues to Meta board, like me.
3994  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / ETH/ERC20 - Check and select good Gas price on: July 11, 2020, 06:11:09 AM
Check all necessary info on fees and network status (block time) before set up fees and move your funds!

Transactions on ERC20 usually are done very fast but sometimes you will need to wait longer to get required confirmations on your ETH or token transfers.

On the other hands, transaction fees are always matter for us. We often would like to have fast transactions at as cheap fees as possible. Myetherwallet.com is one of the most used wallets for ETH blockchain. The site recommends transaction fee at 41 Gwei. After login your Myetherwallet, you can see the recommended fee at https://www.myetherwallet.com/interface/send-transaction
It is not always a good fee and sometimes you do need to research and modify fee for your needs. I know a site that can help you doing so.
Check:
ETHGasStation.info.
https://www.myetherwallet.com/convert-units
https://etherscan.io/gastracker

At the welcome page, you will see "Recommended Gas Prices in Gwei"

If you're curious on how transactions will be prioritised to confirm based on different Gwei, you can see at the table TxPool Vision

Back to the Tx Calculator. By default, the Average fee will be chosen but you can modify it (on available fees or customize it further with Other option, then manually type Gwei you want)

You can check fees and the mean time to confirm (Seconds) then make decisions which GWei will be used for your transactions. Moreover, you can check blocktime of Ethereum (in minutes or in seconds)
In minutes: https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/ethereum-confirmationtime.html
In seconds: https://etherscan.io/chart/blocktime

It is very easy to do but it can do help you to have more comfortable and cheap transactions.

There are some other alternatives to search for safe Gas price (in Gwei). You can do your own research on 21 ETH explorers that are reviewed on this thread: (Compilation) What is the best Ethereum explorer? (already 21 reviews!!!)

3995  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What or how does it feels to grow in rank?! on: July 11, 2020, 03:03:13 AM
We're quite the same. I'm already a Sr. Member even before the merit system began. Though I don't get merits that much, I don't lose heart. It's just a reminder that I have to do better.

But when the time comes for me of ranking up, our reaction would be the opposite. If you would have a calm face expression, I'd surely be ecstatic and wear a really big smile on my face. For all I know, I could possibly cry because of too much happiness! That moment is just something worth celebrating for me. Wink
You are lucky to get the airdropped rank and merit. From what I see, users from old era often are worse in merit earning. I don't know why that happens because they joined the forum earlier, spent more time here and they have better knowledge and they should earn more merit than new era members.

I have my feeling that it is more easily acceptable if one person start and has to face with challenges, then through time and challenge adaptation, he will grows well and is more comfortable with such challenge. On the other hands, if one person start with something easy, he will have bad feelings and struggle to adapt to later challenges.
3996  Other / Meta / Re: Is counter feedback a good solution? on: July 11, 2020, 02:55:35 AM
Before the new Default Trust system, if anyone received negative feedback, I saw some people used to gave counter positive feedback if they thought the negative feedback was not correct. As a result, the feedback score would change from Orange (Negative) to Green although the user have negative feedback.
But now, after the system change, negative remains Orange. No matter how much positive the user got. So, a counter positive feedback in response to a positive feedback does actually nothing. What is your opinion? Is counter feedback a good solution although it does not work anymore?
Feedback can be positive or negative and there are same color display for positive, and negative feedback on user profile. Colors do not depend on how many positive or negative feedback one user gets. It reduces panic on users and also reduces feedback or trust drama.

Counters are the words some people use and such probably cause drama too. You trust, I distrust the same user. You leave your positive feedback on that user, I leave a negative feedback on that user. It is totally fair if you and me have solid reasons (from our sides) to trust or distrust that user. With feedback, people usually write some words to describe why they trust or distrust one user (through their feedback). The word counter is used in such context. With the same feedback, if you don't include the word counter on yours, I believe there is less drama on it. In contrast, if you include the word counter (to someone else's feedback), there will be more drama.

I think people are free to leave feedbacks (positive or negative) based on their opinion, but should not include the word counter in their feedback descriptions.

[General] Bitcoin wallets - Which, what, why?
3999  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the difference between a bitcoin address and a bitcoin wallet? on: July 10, 2020, 01:51:40 PM
It's a really bad idea to think that an address is your bank account, because an address should only be used to receive coins once, and you should give a new address the next time. So, it's closer to something like a one-time payment request. Unfortunately, people, especially beginners, ignore this and indeed use them as "bank accounts". This destroys their privacy and it becomes extremely easy to track all their Bitcoin transactions.
There are 2 bitcoin block explorers have features to analyse and give results on privacy levels:
https://blockstream.info and https://blockchair.com/bitcoin.
You can try to type your own addresses or txid to see how good your transactions are and try to figure it out what you can improve on your future transactions.

Blockstream.info does not have privacy score but blockchair.com does have privacy score levels, from 0 to 100 and they classify it into 3 groups: 0–59; 60–89; and 90–100
Document on Privacy-o-meter of Blockchair.com

I keep something in my mind for practice:
- Don't bookmark my bitcoin address on browsers.
- Don't search my bitcoin addresses with browser without Tor.
- Don't store my bitcoin address or txid on any messenger apps.

Wallets have private key
This is kind of wrong statement. Wallet may have seed key or one can use password to encrypt wallet file. But private keys are related with address. Private keys are the key to access a particular address, not the wallet. I hope you got my point.
You forgot the very basic usecase of wallet: to store your private key or mnemonic seeds. Depends on which wallet you use to store your bitcoin, you will be given private key (with Bitcoin Core) or mnemonic seeds (with Electrum) to backup and restore your wallet later. Mnemonic seeds are only other different ways to display private keys in the one that is more friendly with human, or can be called as human-readable format.

Password is to protect any threats that try to get access on your private key or mnemonic seeds.
4000  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: USDT to Bypass FX Control in China on: July 10, 2020, 01:16:48 PM
What's the reasonable premium of buying in P2P market vs exchange? That's would be the transaction cost. I would expect BTC or tether price higher in foreign exchange controlled countries like China or Argentina.
With P2P marketplaces, you can choose offers you like (mk4 told you already) and you can choose the marketplace that gives you cheapest fees for your trades (as I know, fees tend to be different for buyers and sellers. Usually fees are more expensive for sellers, and fees for buyers almost have free of fees with trades). For bank transfers, there are additional fees and determine by the bank you use to transfer your money.

Have free rights to choose offers and marketplaces, banks, etc. You will be almost get freedom on P2P marketplaces but be aware of scammers on such. Don't be attracted by any words, any promises from anyone to trade off Escrow. Don't release your bitcoin if you don't get your money from your trade partners.
