3981  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Best way to sound proof a room for mining? on: February 28, 2017, 10:36:27 PM
I just partially surround my newer miners with foam and let them be in a spot where air can get in but it's still being surrounded by the acoustic foam. Soundproof server racks work too depending on how big the racks are.

Janos probably going to go over .3 with all of the good luck they've been having recently... still never thought that this miner would last so long, I didn't think I'd be able to win at all haha.

it will go down to the wire for you  I have 1pm EST

so you won't know until 11:59 pm  about 11 hours.

unless kano.is got super hot and pops 4 blocks  in which case it would go past you.

I think they need 2 or 3 blocks for you to win.

It's all luck, nobody knows but I have a feeling Kano will go huge tonight. Either way it's great for you to get a working R4 Smiley hopefully it'll work long after this contest ends.

3984  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD Zen CPU's: Ryzen and Naples on: February 28, 2017, 02:01:13 AM
I'll probably buy a Ryzen 3 for just general use and not for mining and sell my aging 4790... Works nice but I'd like to use a newer CPU. Would also get me a few extra bucks for GPUs. Overall just happy AMD is finally stepping up their game against Intel and prices are being slashed all over the place with CPUs.
3985  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS PET 1300 PSU on: February 28, 2017, 12:51:07 AM
Sounds like this is something that belongs in Computer Hardware and not in goods... You'll want to move it or a mod will probably do that in a few minutes. Also, specs and efficiency? Not much to go off of in the post.
3986  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Your suggestions please... on: February 27, 2017, 12:21:21 AM
USB miners just aren't worthwhile anymore even with Sidehack's new BF sticks that are about to come out. The UPS might be costly but it's worth it if you want to use a miner that will actually make anything.

Depending on what miner, it's possible to get a DPS-800 with a BB and 4 pcie cords for 30 bucks. Runs 1000w on 240v.
3987  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Raspberry Pi 3 Mining on: February 26, 2017, 11:34:09 PM
This is just for a hobby right?

I have had a hell of a time attempting to get my ACIS's running on my Raspi.. still haven't got it working.. I am not very good at Linux though.

Try here:
https://github.com/michelem09/minera

seems like a pretty straightforward install (says the bozo without a RPi) and includes the latest bfgminer and cgminer code built-in.

Cheers,

- zed

If I want to run this with a side hack miner what do I do to the zip file?

Do I just copy the zip onto a micro SD and blamzo ready to go?
In the github file description below all the files it says you can just download the image of Minera in the description and you should be able to write it onto a SD card and you should be off. Further instructions are included there to login remotely onto the controller device.
3988  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Transaktion deleted on: February 26, 2017, 11:31:35 PM
youre transaction is very low transaction
youre only use 2k satoshi/Kb is very bad transaction, i think is can't confirmation, if not confirmation youre bitcoin can gone, youre can lost bitcoin

You won't lose it, it'll just be returned to your wallet as it is removed from the mempool with time. RBF is your best bet, but if that doesn't work it's just a matter of time before your funds are back to your wallet. Next time, always check to see if the fee of a txid is too low- it'll save you a lot of stress.
3989  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info new interface on: February 26, 2017, 11:29:32 PM
As long as it works I'm completely fine with how blockchain.info works. I preferred the old design but we'll all probably forget about it in a few weeks or even days. Just be careful not to store all your funds on the site and you'll be well off- they do not guarantee complete security or any kind of insurance should your account be hacked into.
3990  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Does www.bit-keys.com legit? on: February 26, 2017, 11:27:27 PM
Hey I buy thing on this site without problem since 2015

But today want to purchase a game, send money, btc send not arrive in 10min like ask so they resend me another bill..

I send email to the guy but still no answer, hope he not scam my little 30 dollar  Sad
Maybe they've gone scam? Few other guys reported that they've gotten less professional and a little more sleazy in terms of service so you might've gotten scammed. OP also hasn't been online in a few months so that's another sign that things have gone downhill.
3991  Economy / Economics / Re: Let's Be Honest. We Are Waiting for $100/BTC to buy on: February 26, 2017, 04:51:32 PM
Actually to be honest, $100 is impossible now to happen since we are in thousands already and still increasing its value, anyway who will gonna sell her or his coin in just $100 if it is in thousands value? I guess no one, right?

If that case will happen that $100//btc for sure the value of bitcoin crashed down already.

For sure, as of now since we are more than $1000 per bitcoin selling your coin in $100 is impossible to happen.
And if that $100 per bitcoin happens, then the value of it is so low too as its price. Just see we are moving even ahead of $1000 and are sustaining.

You are right, this will never happen. Bitcoin is already too expensive. And if someone agrees to sell Bitcoin at this price, I would be very surprised
Most likely but there is a chance it can happen again, remember that we cannot control what will be the decision of the majority holders of bitcoin.
And since bitcoin is basically based on supply and demand, the losing popularity and governmental rules that would be detrimental to bitcoin will be the main reason to lessen or worst to make it worthless. That is just the possibilities but we are not hoping it will not happen.

If there is no major flow in the bitcoin the price will not go that low.
Still, that could happen any moment now and any day, although the chances are low. You need to keep in mind the risks with everything. It's unlikely that any event would bring bitcoin to such a low, and even if it did go so low it'd just be bought right back up.
3992  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Need review of hexpay.org on: February 26, 2017, 04:26:21 PM
First rule of buying anything is to always use escrow and to never use autobuy sites. Don't buy that giftcard, only buy it if you use escrow. The idea is good, but the execution of things on the site is just terrible.
3993  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How can I spot Ponzi schemes? on: February 26, 2017, 04:13:15 PM
Ponzi schemes are identified by always promising a very high ROI at times this is so high that gullible falls as easy prey, So we should be very careful not lose our hard earned money Some Ponzi scheme will collect money and disappear.

Not really, there have been ponzi schemes that offered low rates and showed some sort of proof that they are working to give their investors some return, but in the end after months or even years of collecting deposits they still ran away. If it is well made, there is a chance that no one can detect that it is a ponzi, regardless of it having low rates.
well, if the website offer your about more than 100% a year, it is certain that they are all scammers who want to steal our money. 20% per year maybe a ponzi scammer too. You have to do a lot of analysis if you want to make sure whether it it ponzi or not. However, your money is your money, do not invest your money in some places where you can not hold your property or something like that
For me almost all even they are giving small percentage they are just the same ponzi schemes there is no investment and ponzi sites that actually that can stay for too long just to give free profit from their investors..
All earnings and profit needs to hard in order to earn a good profit.. if you are just invest it in ponzi you will regret in the end.
Pretty much anything that guarantees profit is a scam, no matter how it's worded. I've made a little bit from ponzi schemes but i've also lost a little bit. It's fun to invest a little bit in them and make a little bit of cash but most of the time they will collapse before you get anything out of em.
3994  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: blockchain spam on: February 26, 2017, 04:04:19 PM
Komodo is using the bitcoin blockchain to notarize KMD transactions (dPoW)
not spamming to try to chrash the BTC price or promote segwit or who knows what.

The email spamers are using Internet infrastructure for advertizing buisnesses.
Nobody says that they want to break Internet down Smiley and force users to use another ways to communicate.

But email letters are spam for receptients.
And komodo transactions are spam from bitcoin user point of view.

Ok I got your point Smiley
To explain it, i saw a mention of this thread initially on https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1776143 so my intervention was mostly to tell people that are searching for spam attacks to ignore the addresses mentioned above.
By attacks i mean actions to affect BTC network on purpose.

Now, even if i like your analogy, considering that komodo transactions are spamming the BTC blockchain is indeed a question of point of view...

Hopefully there won't be other coins that decide to do things like this in the future; blocks are already full enough as it is and we don't need more txs on the chain. Komodo had a great initiative but it's just bogging down the bitcoin blockchain with its method of tx verification.
3995  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Thinking of large sum of money into mining. Need opinions on: February 26, 2017, 04:02:34 PM
i am not sure how much you can get when you decide to mining, you said you have 100k to invest in mining section, then i think you will need high-end hardware to mining because this is the only way to can earn much of bitcoin than other people. but in mining, you need to wait before you can earn much of bitcoin like 3-8 month or maybe less, beside that you should calculate how long you can get ROI.

i think you need to thinking to make investment in other way so you don't have to wait to long to get ROI but its up to you.

The difficulty is rising too fast. It is better to buy the bitcoin directly.
You might be able to make a bit of profits with the price of bitcoin rising with the difficulty, but again it's up to your electrical price. ROI will be a little long but with time the price of BTC will rise and you'll make a profit in the end most of the time.

Holding is nice and can net you nice profits but it's also a little bit risky. Trading can be worthwhile if you're willing to put time into it.
3996  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitfury: "16nm... sales to public start shortly" on: February 26, 2017, 04:00:57 PM
it seems BitFury is heavily in the process of adding hashpower with their new 16nm chips.

they are now no 1.

We won't be getting any chips for the most part with the exception of Sidehack and a few small distributors though...  I wish they would give out more chips to manufacturers or make some miners, but looks like that isn't going to happen anytime soon.
3997  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Buying Miners from Bitmain and Customs Duties in India on: February 26, 2017, 03:19:06 PM
They really can't do much that isn't illegal to help out with customs duties, of course you will pay some but if you really want lowered fees just buy locally. It might be a little bit more costly but you wont have to worry about fees like these. If it was actually your first time you should've just ordered one miner to test how much the fees really would be if you wanted to buy more. Doing so all in one transaction is pretty risky seeing as you didn't know how much fees were.
3998  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin transactions confirmation time. on: February 26, 2017, 11:19:36 AM
Just another attack on Bitcoin with fees rising to the moon again and txs taking forever to confirm. Happens every once in a while, but the best you can do is to use your own node to get it processed quicker or try to put a higher fee on a transaction. It's a huge PITA but it just happens and for now not much is being done to stop it.
3999  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: if still profitable when mined with one computer assembly? on: February 26, 2017, 11:16:18 AM
+1 to guy above me.

Not possible to effectively mine bitcoins with any type of computer that isn't an ASIC anymore, but, however, altcoins like Monero and Ethereum can be mined quite well with GPUs and you'd be better off looking at that for computers.
4000  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How hard is it really to make money on: February 26, 2017, 02:08:20 AM
Depends on your talents, skill and what you can actually do that is useful. If you're good at digital art or you have spare instances on a server that you can rent out those things can make you a good bit of cash. There are plenty of ways to make money with Bitcoin but you just have to find your own way to do so. It might be a little difficult at the beginning but it'll pan out in the end most of the time if you put work into it.
