3981  Other / Politics & Society / Re: “God bless Planned Parenthood” – PP Uses Abortions to Sell Baby Parts on: September 03, 2015, 02:43:43 PM

Uh oh: Did latest CMP video show confession of lawbreaking in Minnesota?

In an unexpected development, the video released from the Center for Medical Progress on Tuesday may land both Planned Parenthood and Advanced Bioscience Resources (ABR) in legal hot water. ABR procurement manager Perrin Larton told CMP investigators that they work with clinics in several states (starting at 4:35 in the video), including in Minnesota. There’s only one problem with that — fetal tissue donation is illegal in all instances in Minnesota, whether compensated or not, as LifeSiteNews reports:

Somebody in the abortion industry is breaking a Minnesota law that bans the sale or donation of aborted babies’ body parts.

That’s the conclusion of numerous elected officials, who are renewing calls to investigate Planned Parenthood in the wake of undercover videos about the harvesting and sale of fetal organs and tissue.

Dozens of Republican state legislators asked Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton to investigate the abortion provider after the Center for Medical Progress released videos detailing the little-known practice. The sale or donation of fetal organs or tissue is illegal under state law.

Just from a cultural standpoint, that’s a curious anomaly. This is a liberal state, as conservative Minnesotans such as myself are constantly reminded, and also a state with a significant amount of medical research taking place. We have a large medical-device manufacturing sector in Minnesota as well, plus a number of universities at which top-flight, cutting-edge services are offered. Minnesota manages to do all that without allowing fetal tissue to be harvested. Hmmmmm.

LifeSiteNews links to the law covering the disposition of fetal remains, whether from abortion or miscarriage, Section 145.1621. The law only allows remains to be disposed through “cremation, interment by burial, or in a manner directed by the commissioner of health,” the latter option applying only when the first two are somehow impossible. If that isn’t clear enough, subdivision 4 also states that tests can be performed on the remains only to “complete laboratory tests necessary for the health of the woman or her future offspring or for purposes of a criminal investigation or determination of parentage[.]”

A month ago, the regional Planned Parenthood affiliate in Minnesota and the Dakotas (PPMNS) insisted that they do not participate in fetal organ harvesting. In response to a letter from a state legislator, PPMNS CEO Sarah Stoez flatly denied working with procurement companies like ABR. Governor Mark Dayton called it a fishing expedition and refused to authorize an investigation, and Lt. Gov Tina Smith publicly supported her former colleagues at PPMNS.

This admission, however, puts Dayton and Smith on the spot. LifeSiteNews did some digging and found out that ABR has been registered as a non-profit in Minnesota since 2009, and at least one of their former Minnesota employees lists herself as a former procurement specialist on LinkedIn. So what was ABR doing in Minnesota? House Speaker Kurt Daudt (R) wants to know that, too. He’s calling for an investigation — again — to find out what ABR’s doing in a state where fetal tissue donations are illegal, and who their suppliers here might be. There are other abortion clinics besides PPMNS, but it seems unlikely that they would open an office in Minnesota just to work with one or two clinics in the region.

In other news, Wisconsin legislators want their state out of the fetal organ-harvesting business, too:

About $7.5 million in federal funding for Planned Parenthood in Wisconsin would be cut under two Republican-backed bills heard Wednesday by a state Assembly committee, measures that come as the Legislature also considers criminalizing research on aborted fetal tissue.

Supporters defended the measures as reasonable steps to prevent taxpayer money going to a group that provides abortions. But opponents said halting the funding would adversely affect the women’s health services, including cancer screenings and wellness checks, which Planned Parenthood also provides to about 60,000 men and women a year.

Gov. Scott Walker — who has been touting the fact he cut state funding to Planned Parenthood on the presidential campaign trail — has said he supports efforts to curtail federal funding as well.

It’s not a slam-dunk on criminalizing organ harvesting; one Republican state senator objects that it would impede work at the University of Wisconsin. It doesn’t appear to slow down work in Minnesota, though, so perhaps Sen. Alberta Darling should take a hint from their more liberal neighbors to the West.

VOX DAY BOOK TURNS AMAZON KINDLE STORE INTO BATTLEGROUND

The online culture wars have moved out of comments sections and into Amazon’s Kindle Store.

Following the publication of a book by the controversial sci-fi author Theodore Beale aka Vox Day, two parody e-books surged to the top of the store’s top-100 rankings. The first book was a parody of Day’s work, while the other (which has now been removed from Amazon) mocked John Scalzi, one of Day’s critics.

Day’s book is entitled “SJWs Always Lie: Taking Down the Thought Police”, and is intended to be a serious polemic. The book’s summary describes SJWs (Social Justice Warriors — a term for authoritarian progressive activists) as having “plagued mankind for 150 years” and describes how they “invaded one institution of the cultural high ground after another.” It presents itself as a guide to “understanding, anticipating, and surviving SJW attacks.”

The book includes a foreword from Breitbart associate editor Milo Yiannopoulos and was reviewed positively in the conservative online magazine American Thinker.

Online progressives were not so supportive. Alexandra Erin, a sci-fi writer who described Day’s book as “rehashing old slights”, wrote a short parody of the book for Kindle. Entitled “John Scalzi Is Not A Very Popular Author And I Myself Am Quite Popular: How SJWs Always Lie About Our Comparative Popularity Levels,” the book makes fun of Day’s alleged fixation with the progressive sci-fi author John Scalzi.

Scalzi himself appeared to be delighted with the parody,  saying he “loved it already.” He used the book in a fundraising drive for a charity promoting diversity at sci-fi conventions, promising to release an audio recording of him reading the book if $2,500 was raised within three days. The target was successfully met, and Scalzi subsequently uploaded an audio recording.

Supporters of Vox Day responded by releasing their own parody book, entitled “John Scalzi Is A Rapist: Why SJWs Always Lie In Bed Waiting For His Gentle Touch; A Pretty, Pretty Girl Dreams of Her Beloved One While Pondering Gender Identity, Social Justice, and Body Dysmorphia.”

The counter-parody was removed by Amazon today following complaints from Scalzi. Prior to its removal, it was the top seller in the “parodies” section of the Kindle store, two places ahead of Erin’s book. Kindle top 100 rankings are calculated on an hourly basis, and surges in popularity for titles usually reflect a short, rapid increase in the number of purchases.

Scalzi also asked his followers on social media if “John Scalzi is a rapist” counts as libel. Legal commentator Ken White (also known as Popehat), responded on his blog, saying the book was “almost certainly protected parody.”

The Clintons’ plan to counterattack Obama

The president holds the cards and they are damning

Has the Clinton counterattack against President Obama begun?

The Clintons have never taken a political hit lying down. But given their weak and panicky reactions to Mr. Obama’s current, well-orchestrated hit on her — the FBI investigation into her alleged mishandling of classified material as secretary of state — they have appeared to passively absorb the escalating attack. Until now.

As he presses his attack, Mrs. Clinton has two choices. Option one: fold early and negotiate a mild end to the investigation in exchange for dropping out of the race. But Mr. Obama is not a forgiving sort, and now that he’s drawn blood, he’s likely to go for the kill.

That suggests that the Clintons are going with option two: fight him — as part of an elaborate, unspoken negotiation between them over their secrets and futures. That requires a plausible defense. Their go-to strategy has always been to blame others, or inanimate objects such as documents, servers, “processes” — and to designate a fall guy (or gal) to take the rap.

This is the well-worn path they now appear to be pursuing to try to escape Mr. Obama’s ever-tightening political and legal vise.

According to a well-placed source, the four known documents at the center of the FBI investigation are deeply problematic. (They came from a relatively small sample; with each new email dump, there are more questionable documents.) Some of the documents appear to have had no original classification markings.

A critical point: the federal government classifies by information, not by marking; that is, if a document contains obvious classified material, ie. information provided by a foreign government, it is automatically considered classified, even if it isn’t marked as such. Mrs. Clinton knew this — or should have. Further, the federal government could not classify material that originated with her since they had no access — or knowledge — of her private server.

Some documents have also been manipulated. Their classified markings have been removed or changed, which would explain why she has changed her public statements about what was in her possession — and when. Initially she claimed unequivocally that there “was no classified material.” She now says, “The facts are I did not send nor did I receive material marked classified.”

This appears to be the basis for her defense: that some of the documents’ classified markings were removed or changed — without permission — before she saw them.

By whom? There are only three people who were close enough to her to have had that kind of access: Chief of Staff Cheryl Mills, Deputy Chief of Staff Jacob Sullivan, and her longtime Gal Friday, Huma Abedin.

Ms. Mills, Mrs. Clinton’s Valerie Jarrett and shadowy hatchet gal, is a lawyer, which may present evidentiary issues for the government as much of her communication with Mrs. Clinton may be privileged.

Ms. Abedin, who has had her own issues involving her husband, former Rep. Anthony Weiner, her family’s alleged ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, and her extracurricular employment activities while at State, is not a lawyer and may be more exposed. She lawyered up recently, but like Ms. Mills, she knows too much about the Clinton Foundation and Bill Clinton operations and how they mixed with Mrs. Clinton’s State Department (and server) to be sacrificed.

This leaves Mr. Sullivan, the outsider. If it’s true that he is cooperating with the FBI, Mrs. Clinton may try to smear him as a John Dean-style rogue, who either didn’t alert her to unmarked classified material or removed the markings himself and is now trying to save his own hide.

So: Mrs. Clinton may claim ignorance, blame the documents and her former lieutenant and dare Mr. Obama to charge ahead.

Sound familiar? It’s the Whitewater strategy. Mrs. Clinton knows how to manipulate documents and designate a chump. Like a game of Clue, the Whitewater documents were found years later in the study with Col. Mustard and a pipe. She got away with it then, but unlike Susan McDougal, Mr. Sullivan isn’t prepared to go to prison. Does he have a smoking gun, or is he merely providing a he said/she said scenario out of which they both will skate?

The Clintons must also go on offense, meaning possibly threatening Mr. Obama with her knowledge of any relationship he may have had with the Clinton Foundation donor network, the lies about Benghazi, and so on. Whether or not their side of this highwire negotiation works depends on what leverage they have against him.

It also means threatening anyone who gets in her way of the nomination. In a panicky attempt to scare off other contenders such as Vice President Joe Biden, she claimed that she already has substantial (but easily changeable) delegate support. While it may be tough for her to directly attack Mr. Biden, she may choose to attack others close to him to get him to think twice.

Can the old Clinton nuclear strategy work this time? Her poll numbers are dropping, and she has consistently underestimated her adversaries, Mr. Obama and Mrs. Jarrett, who have already activated their plan for a Joe Biden (or whomever else Mr. Obama may bless)- Elizabeth Warren ticket — which reportedly has Mr. Clinton “incensed.” They’re not in 1998 anymore.

If Mr. Obama holds the meaningful cards in this bloody negotiation, he may greenlight a special prosecutor or indictment of Mrs. Clinton. They are in a political death match, for their own futures, and the future of the party, the Obama revolution and the country. It won’t end until one side is destroyed.

In this “Game of Thrones,” it’s now “game on.”

Ex-Clinton aide expected to plead the Fifth before House panel

A staffer who worked on Hillary Clinton’s private email server while she was secretary of State is expected to plead the Fifth rather than testify before Congress.

Lawyers for Bryan Pagliano indicated the former IT employee will assert his constitutional right under the Fifth Amendment not to answer questions from the House Select Committee on Benghazi, citing the "current political environment."
Pagliano is scheduled to appear before the House Benghazi Committee on Sept. 10.

Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), the ranking Democrat on the panel, said in a statement that the panel's investigation of Clinton’s private email server while at State is politically motivated, given her presidential candidacy.

“Their insatiable desire to derail Secretary Clinton’s presidential campaign at all costs has real consequences for any serious congressional effort,” said Cummings, ranking member on the Benghazi Committee.

Top Clinton aide Cheryl Mills is scheduled to be deposed by the committee on Thursday.

Clinton is under fire for her use of a personal email server during her tenure as secretary of State.

Voter concerns over Clinton’s personal storage device are gradually eroding her support across multiple national polls.

Report: 307,000 Veterans Died Waiting For Veterans Affairs Healthcare

(CNN)Hundreds of thousands of veterans listed in the Department of Veterans Affairs enrollment system died before their applications for care were processed, according to a report issued Wednesday.

The VA’s inspector general found that out of about 800,000 records stalled in the agency’s system for managing health care enrollment, there were more than 307,000 records that belonged to veterans who had died months or years in the past.

In a response to the House Committee on Veterans Affairs’ request to investigate a whistleblower’s allegations of mismanagement at the VA’s Health Eligibility Center, the inspector general also found VA staffers incorrectly marked unprocessed applications and may have deleted 10,000 or more records in the last five years.

In one case, a veteran who applied for VA care in 1998 was placed in “pending” status for 14 years. Another veteran who passed away in 1988 was found to have an unprocessed record lingering in 2014, the investigation found.

“Donald Trump was recently extremely well received in Arizona while discussing national security and border security. Senator John McCain’s reaction to Mr. Trump’s success in Arizona is instructive in that it belies a concern the Senator clearly has about how his stance on issues like immigration are perceived by his constituents.
The feuding between Mr. Trump and Senator McCain has nothing to do with Mr. Trump’s high regard for the military or veterans as a whole. Mr. Trump is supporter of the U.S. military and of America’s veterans. It is well known that when Mr. Trump is attacked by a detractor, he swings back. As veterans, we do not hide behind military service to deflect criticism, and when Senator McCain attacked, Mr. Trump hit back.

We are glad that Mr. Trump has clarified his remarks to acknowledge that Senator McCain is a war hero. But, Senator McCain is also a politician and what Donald Trump has tapped into is that people just don’t trust politicians and the slow pace the Congress is moving in addressing critical issues like border security, veteran’s issues and military funding. Donald Trump has a history of calling out people and groups that don’t deliver results. There are clearly problems that are being identified by Donald Trump, that are not being adequately addressed by the political leadership in Congress and the Administration today.

Phraseology aside, what the American people are really concerned about is how 250,000 veterans – who are also heroes – were put onto a VA death list, why 40,000 active troops are going to receive pink slips over the next four years and why border security is not addressed even as our porous border results in more financial strain on our country and southern border states’ budgets.”

Is it possible that the world is unclear on Mohammed's birth time period? It's possible this doesn't destabilise anything it just resets when Mohammed was alive to an earlier date than previously thought (which is a lot more plausible than presuming the Islam faith isn't genuine or something.)

By the way, did the fragments mention anything about how to stand up to those that kill in the name of Islam? That would be a bit of guidance that could be widely used right now. I have never seen an Islamic cleric or official formally condemn terrorism conducted in the name of Islam (and I fully admit I've not seen everything!)

Sounds pretty accurate to me, more so than Jesus' birth. If the koran they found is within that time table then all is fine. If not then the angel gabriel gave the message to more than one mortal...

Report: 51% Of Immigrant Households In America Are On Welfare…

A comprehensive study of U.S. Census Bureau reports of welfare participation revealed Wednesday that 51 percent of immigrants — legal and illegal — access welfare programs, far more than the 30 percent of native-born Americans.

The Center for Immigration Studies analysis of the Census Survey of Income and Program Participation found “significantly higher rates” of immigrants on government programs than other government surveys, showing that Washington has done little to curb access to Medicaid, cash, food, and housing programs.

“If immigration is supposed to benefit the country, then immigrant welfare use should be much lower than native use,” said Steven Camarota the Center’s director of research and the report’s author.

Carefully with that radiocarbon dating. Carbon dating isn't really accurate. 40-50 years diversion can easily occur. This stuff wasn't found in a sealed tomb in some remote place, untouched for centuries, but in Birmingham where "old coal" been burnt for centuries in large quantities, so it might got contaminated.

Then the carbon dating data would point to a period after 1815, not before the birth of mohamed, when, I believe, few american indians would be using coal for their iron horses...

Czech police haul migrants off trains to Germany and 'write numbers on their arms in ink'

Czech police have reportedly begun removing refugees from trains headed to Germany, detaining migrants and numbering them in pen written on their arms.

The Czech prime minister has called a meeting with his counterparts in Austria and Slovakia to discuss the growing influx of migrants in eastern and central Europe.

According to local media, in the early hours of Tuesday morning around 200 refugees were arrested on trains arriving from Austria and Hungary in the southern Czech region of Moravia.

Pictures in Czech media showed police officers writing registration numbers on the wrists and arms of migrants with permanent marker pens, while the refugees themselves told reporters they were travelling from Budapest, had purchased valid train tickets and were allowed to board by police in Hungary.

Of course I am not a muslim and maybe there are 1000's variations of the koran...?
There are probably thousands of variations of the Qur'an, but in accordance with Islamic beliefs there is only one true Qur'an. That is why there has been many disputes about whether or not a translated Qur'an is the true Qur'an.

Was that koran found a true koran or not?

I bet that will be hard to answer. kinda like which of these is the true Bible?
https://www.bible.com/versions
And this is only a partial list that does not include my choice, an ancient Aramaic version.
The bible differs from the Qur'an in many ways. The bible was written by people inspired by God, but the Qur'an is supposed to have been made by Allah himself, and sent down to Muhammad intact via the angel Gabriel.

Thus finding a koran, even an untrue koran, before the event of the angel gabriel is impossible...

I know all the humans are going to die. My hope is that some bacteria live. We are all just expressions of DNA, so who cares if humans survive? There is only one living creature on Earth and if part of it lives then it will bounce back in just a few million years.
It's all good.  Wink
The climate changed this morning.  I saw it myself, don't need no scientists.  I know it's our fault and I should pay carbon taxes, but it may be too late.

This really bright hot round thing started to rise up from the horizon.  At the same time the land started getting hotter.  And I calculate that it's really going to get really hot.  Then there will be heat waves and droughts and hurricanes and storms and flooding and ice and no ice and scary bad stuff like drowned puppies.

Obama Prophesies Climate Nightmare: Famine, Floods, Fire, Fumes and Fighting

President Obama – who graduated Columbia University with a degree in political science – became an environmental and ecological expert Monday night in time to decry America’s contributions to global warming and the alleged melting of Arctic ice caps at this year’s GLACIER Conference, predicting a dire future for humanity.

During the GLACIER event, which stands for Global Leadership in the Arctic: Cooperation, Innovation, Engagement and Resilience, Obama blamed the recent rash of wildfires sweeping parts of Washington State on global warming, insisting that “climate is changing faster than our efforts to address it.”

Overall, the speech painted a fairly doom-and-gloom outlook for America and the rest of the world. So if you’re a Doomsday Prepper, here are a few excerpts from the president's speech explaining the climate-related disasters heading to a town near you:

Your house might slide off into the ocean…

Reduced sea levels leaves villages unprotected from floods and storm surges. Some are in imminent danger; some will have to relocate entirely.

…or it might be engulfed in flames.

Alaska’s fire season is now more than a month longer than it was in 1950. At one point this summer, more than 300 wildfires were burning at once. Southeast of here, in our Pacific Northwest, even the rainforest is on fire…this is a threat to many communities.

And if it doesn’t, it will definitely get sucked into a sinkhole.

Thawing permafrost destabilizes the earth on which 100,000 Alaskans live, threatening homes, damaging transportation and energy infrastructure, which could cost billions of dollars to fix.

Your city will either look like Atlantis or something out of the zombie apocalypse.

...we will condemn our children to a planet beyond their capacity to repair:  Submerged countries.  Abandoned cities.

You might run out of fresh salmon en croûte.

Warmer, more acidic oceans and rivers, and the migration of entire species, threatens the livelihoods of indigenous peoples, and local economies dependent on fishing and tourism.

Or just food, in general.

Climate change is already disrupting our agriculture and ecosystems.

You may simultaneously die of thirst and drown, all at the same time.

Entire nations will find themselves under severe, severe problems. More drought; more floods; rising sea level…

You might have to begin training for the Hunger Games.

…more refugees; more scarcity; more conflict.

And if the famine, flood, fire and fighting doesn’t get you, the fumes definitely will.

Consider, as well, that many of the fires burning today are actually burning through the permafrost in the Arctic.  So this permafrost stores massive amounts of carbon.  When the permafrost is no longer permanent, when it thaws or burns, these gases are released into our atmosphere over time, and that could mean that the Arctic may become a new source of emissions that further accelerates global warming.

After all, we’re running out of time.

On this issue, of all issues, there is such a thing as being too late. That moment is almost upon us.

Perhaps the president got some of his research from the crew of the Canadian CCGS Amundsen during their four-month global warming expedition -- you know, before they had to bail on their mission due to ships getting stuck in ice.
