3981  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏁🏎️ Sportsbet.io🏁 FORMULA 1 2022 Season🏁🏎️Prediction Pool Discussion Thread on: August 02, 2022, 09:59:15 AM
will try to do it, but it would be too much Smiley
nevertheless, finally getting into top3 in this pool table, hopefully could stay there until the end, had a rough start, but it is getting better now

there is too much pools these days, keep joining day by day, will probably think in October why I needed all these pools, but it looks as great fun atm

Nothing is too much in these pools, and I do see a trend of leaders getting points to stay in place for a while, might even see if I would follow your picks for a bit after a couple more races.

And definitely no such thing as too many pools haha. I think if you put in picks way ahead for some of them (football anyway) it becomes more manageable Wink
3982  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Stake.com announces Israel Adesanya as their Global branded ambassador on: August 02, 2022, 03:12:50 AM
Hey @rdbase. August is here and that means 2 more months till the end of September, which is the deadline for your original take on the much-vaunted possible match between Izzy and Pereira.

That's plenty of time left and I know I've paid up in advance (just as a show of confidence haha).

What do you say to a doubling down with proper terms? But let's swing it around since the fight is actually already confirmed, it's practically a given, how bout some easy money for you?

15/1 odds with a 10mbtc stake is my offer.

Izzy-Pereira to fight for the title by 30 September: I pay 150mbtc.

Izzy-Pereira do NOT fight for the title by 30 September: you pay 10 mbtc.
3983  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Hash Ribbon Update - Capitulation Again? on: August 02, 2022, 02:18:49 AM
In 2018 miner capitulation signalled at $6.4K in October before the drop to $3.2K. The buy signal then arrived at $3.5K quite conveniently a few months later.
In March 2020 it signalled at $5.8K (after the big drop) with a buy signal at $7.7K. Throughout 2020 the capitulation prices were lower than the buy signal prices.

Despite the misleading phrase, the indicator was never intended to be used to predict any price movements to the downside, only to the upside (based on network recovery followed by growth).

Yeah, looking at it as a buy signal in 2018 might not have worked the treat it could in 2020, but still, it would have provided a good bargain price (though not for the serious leveraged buyers I suppose).

I'm still not sure this time around it works the same, but I'd be really happy to be proven wrong -- I still think the macros are a lot more serious now, and with plenty of pitfalls left to come.
3984  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Italian Serie A ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2022/2023 on: August 02, 2022, 12:49:02 AM
Hey darxiaomi very good to see you in here too! In fact, just to mention that for anyone who wants to play but can only pay later, I'll also back Trofo's offer and do the same (pay for you in advance as long as you pay during the campaign). In ALL the football pools except Fantasy (sorry, I wish I could but I might forget about that!).

Can you guys believe I'm likely to miss watching the first 2 games at least?  Shocked

Unless I find some dude with something for me to watch ha!
3985  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [LIST]Pools Summary: betting site Offers, 2022-2023. on: August 02, 2022, 12:14:24 AM
I have proceeded to update the information in the respective tables.

...//...::
+1
Thanks for adding the information, surely we will be there, excellent GTD and the distribution of prizes is wonderful.   Cool

Very pleased to hear, it's the first proper edition of the pool, but arguably the most prestigious tournament of all, and I'm really hoping to see 40 people so we get a good, rip-roaring Champions League! See you all there, I might even consider joining all of the pools next year if I get the time (am in all the Sportsbet one for sure)!
3986  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: August 01, 2022, 02:10:47 PM
No need to get pants and skirts all tied up and wrung out. Cup games, memecups and so on, you know it doesn't say anything about season performance.

Any of you fancy a French team other than PSG get the Champions League? A new pool with 0.3 BTC is up and running. Less talk more bet eh?

^Good to see some familiar faces popping up, and yes, well aware there are already so many pools... Myself am already almost questioning myself on why joining so many haha...

But, this is Champions League! It doesn't get any bigger than this -D

Thanks also for a couple of ppl PMing about participation. Plenty of time left to pay so no worries about it.

Would love to see 40 players here too, get this thing going!
3988  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Hash Ribbon Update - Capitulation Again? on: August 01, 2022, 06:35:47 AM
Interesting thread, only as haven't really seen anything quite like this before. At least not with a sort of price barometer in parallel.

Have to say though that last cycle didn't see miner capitulation that would have given much of indication about impending lows though did it? 2020 comes to mind.
3989  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin *is* an inflation hedge in first place. Satoshi expressly made it so. on: August 01, 2022, 05:27:00 AM
Still not sure I understand economics enough to use the full label of inflation hedge.

Agree Bitcoin has deflationary pressures built it or baked in as people say these days. Agree that over medium and long term, it is inflation resistant.

But in my mind a hedge is something that is anti rather than resistant. So I dont necessarily see Bitcoin as a hedge, though perhaps it is semantics I don't get.
3990  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏁🏎️ Sportsbet.io🏁 FORMULA 1 2022 Season🏁🏎️Prediction Pool Discussion Thread on: August 01, 2022, 12:21:53 AM
Nice going casper! Make it 3 in a row next one maybe eh?

Back to my sub-10 point racing week, but have to admit, my fault for going with even less than gut on that one, you get what you get, deserve it too Wink

Not sure last time I saw over half the table overlapped!

Also, the Brits did do as well as they showed in practice, even better in fact.

*Responses for current Matchday hidden until deadline has passed

Please enter your picks for both events. Both event deadlines are kickoff, 19:00 UTC (forum time) on 30 April 2024. Late match submissions won't be counted. Remember to fill in bitcointalk usernames exactly as it is =) For Pot B, Leaderboards will be updated a day or two after final match in the matchday (usually within minutes if I'm online).

⚽Welcome to the UEFA Champions League Football Predictor Pool - 2023/24! The biggest club football tournament on the planet now knows all participants and the competition proper kicks off with Group Stage Match Day 1 starting 19 Sep 2023, with the final at Wembley on 4 June 2024.

I'm really pleased to announce that this season's sponsor is crypto casino and sportsbook, Rollbit, also the European betting partner of Italian champions SSC Napoli. We will play for $10,000 in sponsorship funds (USDT) plus $1,000 in freebets, and additional UCL-themed betting promos. I'd like to thank Hhampuz for his role in securing this sponsorship.

Since 2018, we've had a Bitcointalk predictor pool. The concept is simple: participants pay a fee that goes into a pot. Players predict results, winning points to climb the leaderboard. Winners then share the entire pot among themselves + sponsorship prizes.

Alongside the classic score prediction event on Superbru, this 2023/24 season introduces an odds-based prediction event.

  • How to Join?

➥ The entry fee is 0.002 BTC or approx. $50 (September 6th estimate). Payment should be sent to: bc1q3rrxzuknzfvlclprprjshqruvjhp5tettcthea. This is an escrow held by buwaytress.
➥ Participants will be required to create a Superbru account. This is for the score prediction event.
➥ Participants will also need to create a Google account. This is for the odds-based predictions event using Google forms.
➥ After you pay the participation fee to the BTC address above, I will send you an invitation to the Superbru pool(Send me a PM with tx ID and Superbru + Forum username).

  • How to Play?

Scores-based prediction event
Score predictions will be made using the Superbru sports prediction website. Why Superbru? It's been around since 2006, has one of the most reliable servers able to handle huge loads, and accepts players from any country. They use a simple leaderboard system awarding points for correct predictions on each game.

The more accurate the predictions, the more points. 3 points for exact scores | 1.5 points for close scores | 1 point for correct outcome | additional 1,2 and 3 points for reaching 5,8, and 10 correct outcomes in a MatchDay. New player? Read about Superbru scoring system here.

Leaderboards are automatically compiled by Superbru. Tiebreakers are automatically calculated -- players higher on the leaderboard are ranked higher.

Odds-based prediction event
1x2 predictions [regular time only] will be made using a Google form each Matchday. Enter precise bitcointalk usernames and check your choices before submitting! This post will always be updated with the current links.

1. Each Matchday, all participants will be assigned 10 points. Think of this as your bankroll to bet on football. They "stake" these points on Moneyline outcomes on any of the matches in that Matchday. Only one ML outcome per match allowed.
2. You can stake 1-10 points per match, or spread the points over many matches, but total staked points cannot exceed 10. Unused points don't carry over, each Matchday starts anew with 10 points per participant.
3. Leaderboard Points are earned on winning outcomes, according to the odds of those outcomes. Wrong outcomes earn 0 points. Tiebreakers are won by the player with the largest points accumulated in a single match. Failing that, earlier submission of that match wins.

Matchdays 1-6 are Group Stage legs (home + away). 16 games each.
Matchday 7 and 8 are the Last 16 legs. 8 games each.
Matchday 9 will be the QF. 8 games.
Matchday 10 will be SF legs + Final. 5 games.

  • What are the Prizes?

The total prize sponsorship is $10,000 in stablecoin. This is allocated to two events, each with 10 winners:

Additionally, Rollbit will pay out $100 in freebets to the top 3 Superbru (scores-based event) players of each Matchday. This happens regardless of how many Yellow Caps (highest scorer of the round) there are, simply the Top 3 players according to Superbru rankings each round.

I will regret this, but I've just joined this pool. I mean, why not, dumb luck has won me stuff before, maybe here too? Have a seriously hectic next few weeks so forgive me if I don't get my early picks in =D

GL all, I know only 2 guys I'm having in my team, the rest I'm going to try and be real smart about.

Hey, hey, we probably deserved it, didn't we? Adrian really is not our 3rd choice keeper for nothing, but glad we completed the final piece of the puzzle with this meme trophy heh.

Let's do another silly trophy on Nantes, cause why not? PSG aren't invincible...

100 units at Fairlay on Nantes to WIN vs PSG @8.65. Other odds: 8.55
Units advantage: 10

Running advantage after 2 bets: +90
All-time cumulative: +83,049
Running units after 1 bets (1W|0L): +1030

Welcome back and congratulations on your win!  Cool
I was sure that you would bet on Liverpool because the odds were really unfair (plus as I understand you are a fan of it). I also thought about making this bet, but in the end I chose an equally ridiculous (but much more reliable) one (1.93 on the victory of Bayern in the German Super Cup).

Thank you! Odds really were great value, but against City, it always is, and happy to start yet another campaign with a City loss in Community Shield. I'd have added Bayern easily but for the next couple of weeks I'm not going to be able to do accas (probably for the better), so singles on Fairlay's the easiest as am on mobile...
3996  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: July 31, 2022, 09:58:33 AM
Slightly agree with Harko that both teams didn't need to delay the ref -- I don't understand how teams still think they can influence a decision (or is it because they actually can?).

But fine, first VAR took a long time because they had to overturn the linesman (I thought it was maybe a foul def not offside). 2nd one, honestly, we've gone way past the need to argue for THAT kind of handball. Consistently, it's a pen, any day, any time.

I know I'm not just whining because it's England, I watch Serie A, La Liga, other tourneys and VAR's usually quick and decisive. 7 minutes injury time when there wasn't any injury. That tells you VAR gonna give us another poor season.

The EPL is full of surprises, and every prediction is 50/50. Last season, Manchester United was the odds-on favorite to win the title, but instead, they finished 6th. You and Trofo were confident that Spurs would finish ahead of Chelsea, so I'm betting as the underdog and am therefore at a disadvantage. Good luck with your wager with Harkorede nonetheless. Grin

Thanks, and good luck to you too... though I have to insist not every prediction is 50/50.

Our confidence in Spurs (the actual underdog at the time) didn't make them the favourites. Odds and probability are, quite literally, evidence for what make a favourite, not confidence!

That said, the odds gap between the two has been slimming... some sites now I notice do put Spurs above Chelsea. Thank pre-season for that.

Another weird shift for me is odds on Forest... generally more favoured at books than the likes of Brentford and Bournemouth.
3997  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: EFL English Championship League 2022/2023 SOON! on: July 31, 2022, 08:57:04 AM
Good to see activity started again here with the early start of new season and first day is not good enough for punters as we have most of the games ends in draw yesterday Burnley done good job under new coach V Kompany a good and aggressive game against Huddersfield today we have few teams done poor job and with this poor start of new season we can feel a quality competition between these teams for next promotion.

On first day of new season we have very few goals from all teams as mostly were on defensive mod with heat is still on and players can face some trouble with this all, hopefully this all will be change after 4 or 5 weeks because after this time weather could be better, and we will have good entertainment from these quality teams.

First games are never good enough to tell a team's expected performance throughout the season, and Championship is even more of an anomaly in that regard I think, mainly because the season's a little longer in terms of games. Give it 5 more games to get a sense of who knows what they're doing, who's going to run themselves into the ground, and who's got hungry players Wink

Didn't know you had kids mate, I always assumed you as a young gun Cheesy Bellingham will definitely find himself in Premier league eventually, its definitely a good pick for him and any team there which means that they would be willing to overpay a bit more than other leagues. However, its about all the others, City would be the biggest trouble, if they ever want to get him then it would be hard, and sure Madrid would be too, but LFC would be a better choice for him over Madrid. Lets see whats going to happen, but in any case, LFC will not be left high and dry, they already have a great roster and GOAT manager as well.

It's pretty scary to admit it but I think I'm one of the oldest forum users, at least in the gambling circle haha. Have yet to meet anyone older when meeting up (not that I've met many). And playing football for the past 6 years, always oldest on pitch. Last year, accepted an invite to play with some guys... the gap between me and the oldest player in the pitch was 8 years. And it showed!

Agree if we don't get him it's not game over, just annoying he's been on radar for so long and still not coming over haha.

@morvillz7z Notifications work for me, I mean, I don't rely on them but if I open the tab, everything's there. Clubhouse, transactions, betslips winning/pushing.
4000  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 'Wasabigeddon' article discussion (it supposedly solves fungibility) on: July 31, 2022, 01:58:56 AM
Pretty clear for me to not use Wasabi, but I also wouldn't strongly be against someone else using it, if they understood what they were getting into. Same thing about someone using an exchange or a custodial service -- suits their purpose and their needs.

Unfortunately (or thanks to Bitcoin non-discrimination), we will have people who want or hope for Bitcoin to be used in certain ways we don't agree with, and they will use whatever feature is available to meet their needs.

So agree with nullius here. I don't see the point of hating on exchanges and Wasabi and expecting them to fall in line with ideologies they're legally bound to go against. Well, okay, Wasabi's complicated in a way, they probably only used privacy as a marketing tool while wanting to keep their friendships with old money.

Despite the "caught between a rock and a hard place"  argument, I'll probably never have a shred of sympathy for corporate entities or their leaders/owners. Even less when they try to explain their actions.
