41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining shed in the backyard - what do I need to know? on: March 19, 2018, 10:05:46 PM
Who even thinks about starting up a serious mining operation in a time like this?

You do know profits are way WAY down, right?
42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: So where are the GPU miners going next? on: March 14, 2018, 05:55:53 PM
GPU miners still have Ethereum, you need to take that off the list. There has been no proof of any Eth ASIC so far.
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining , still worth it? on: March 08, 2018, 06:34:03 PM
soon your gxt 1080ti $1300 will become a $200 product hehe

Good thing I paid about $200 for each of my 1080ti's and Vega 64's. And ill never tell how I did it.
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining , still worth it? on: March 07, 2018, 11:58:07 PM
Dumped all (9) of my 1060 3GB cards for $280. Easy money. Paid $189 for them in 2017.

They served me well but it was time to move on. Probably the best investment I ever made.
45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Help choosing GPU on: March 06, 2018, 05:08:54 PM
I would not recommend you to pay attention to the GPU with 4 GB of memory. In 2019, they will be unsuitable for the production of the most popular altcoin Ethereum. This will significantly reduce the demand for these GPU and the price of them will fall. Why you need it. All the other GPU you can buy. But it is better to choose a coin before buying. This is important because the GPU has its own different characteristics and different profit on each coin.

Dude what the hell are you talking about? 4GB cards wont be an issue until 2021.

May 2019 is the date for 3GB gpus.....
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What is your electric rate? on: March 05, 2018, 04:41:58 PM
9.5 cents per kwh in Western, NC.

Not the best but could be worse, at highish altitude so it doesn't get very hot here.
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: DAG file on 3 GB card Limit hit it seems . on: March 02, 2018, 06:58:35 PM
DAG-3gb Epoch-256 Date-03/may/2019

You know that counts only the dag size right? Anything that the windows allocates has nothing to do with the dag file.

So to make it simple to understand it works like this --> windows allocation + dag size = eth mine or eth do not mine

Metroid is retarded, I have 10 GTX 1060 3GB happily mining Eth as we speak.....

Are you demented? Who said you cant mine with 3gb gpus? I never said that, I said, do not update to the latest windows 10 version if the gpus are 3gb.

My stuff is all up to date. Zero issues. I dont use displays, everything is headless.
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: cannot allocate big buffer for DAG on: March 02, 2018, 05:57:05 PM
yes yes bit the min rate. What do i have to set to? Huh Its now set on i think 1400

Dude I just told you 16 GB.....

Yes yes can you tell me what min en what max setting do i have to use

SIXTEEN GIGABYTES REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

16 min 16 max works fine.... why do you need to be spoon fed?

Hello all!

I got a problem with my mining rig.

It says "cannot allocate big buffer for DAG"

I have asrock h110 pro btc + MB
8 x geforce nvidia 1060 6gb
1 x 4 ddr4 crucial ram
2 x 1000 watt power

What i thought was that i maybe put some extra ram would that be solution?

Did you set virtual memory (page file) to 16 GB?
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: DAG file on 3 GB card Limit hit it seems . on: March 02, 2018, 04:07:36 PM
Metroid is retarded, I have 10 GTX 1060 3GB happily mining Eth as we speak.....

3 of the cards are standalone on mini ITX mobos all running windows 10....

So yeah, I dont know what people are talking about but I can provide proof you CAN mine on windows at this time.
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Building Cheap Miners : My "Secret" on: February 28, 2018, 11:04:07 PM
I've built a small miner myself too, without spending a whole fortune to do so. I'm using two AMD R7 260X (Overclocked from the factory) which I bought, used, for dirty cheap from Ebay (Something like $50-60 each). They don't feature high-end performance like the R9 Or Titan series but they have low power consumption (100-110 Watts on full load each). Therefore, having a high performance to power ratio.

I'm considering to purchase a few more of these in the future, depending on how well the GPU mining "industry" goes.

Thats not low power consumption lol at least not in 2018.
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Should I pay more to get the bigger memory card (1060 3GB vs 6GB version)? on: February 28, 2018, 06:16:33 PM
I am building my next rig, based on 1060 cards. I am having trouble in deciding if I should spend some more on the 6GB version.

It is my understanding that 3GB is mostly problematic when mining Ethereum which I don't, I prefer to mine Equihash coins .

So is there a reason to pay extra for the 6GB card?

Its not just a memory difference. The core count is a bit less on the 3Gb card (1152 vs 6gb 1280).

So they will always hash slightly less. If you dont care about Eth, then get the 3GB card. The best deals will be on those for sure.
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU'S on: February 27, 2018, 04:22:04 PM
If you want some budget cards i think gtx 980 ti is a Good card and equal to gtx 1070 but cheaper or of course the New one like vega 56 or 64 (amd)  and if you have the capital i suggest to get Tesla p100 average hashrate on eth 168 mh don't know about other algorithems though Good luck

Well, right off the bat the 9xx cards are crippled for Eth mining so theres that....
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best ALT to mine with low spec AMD GPU on: February 26, 2018, 03:39:16 PM
You dont even mention which AMD GPU, but anything 10 years old is a definite NO GO on the mining aspect.

CPU would probably be best put ot use mining cryptonight algo. A 10 year old GPU will be VERY limited in what it can mine, if anything at all. Main problem would be finding a miner that even supports something like like a radeon 3850.
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Where to buy from 100 to 1000 GPU on: February 23, 2018, 07:13:47 PM
How about alibaba guys from direct suppliers? i saw its more cheaper if you are buying in bulk graphics card..
I was planning to buy from alibaba suppliers but i don't know if its safe. since its directly to supplier and there are reviews and ratings do you think it is safe?
Hope someone here who buying cards from alibaba share their experience thanks..
I can speak from personal experience since I had contact with at least 10 suppliers via alibaba.com. If it looks too cheap to be true it probably is. Lot of scammers there (they usually only offer Moneygram or Western Union as payment option) and they don't have stock and try to persuade you to send money. Gold status also doesn't count, since everybody got that badge after a time. You can only look for suppliers who offers trade assurance, everything else is scam, believe me. They fake picture of stock and everything, but if you look for trade assurance and other payment options then those I mentioned you're safe to go. But still I'm not convinced if I should ever order over alibaba after those scammers.

Even with "trade assurance" they will still sell you stuff they just dont have....

I spoke with one supplier who said "oh yes we have lots of that CPU, how many do you want?". I send payment, which takes like a fuckin week to clear somehow even though its a credit card.....

Then they go "oh we actually dont have that CPU in stock".

Like fuck you, idiots over there are a complete waste of time. Even had a Chinese friend communicate (in Chinese) for me, so they don't even care about their own countrymen. They just try to collect as much money as possible and then see if they can procure the goods. Worthless.
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASIC's of any flavor? Any that make sense to ROI now? Or is it lost cause? on: February 22, 2018, 04:18:40 PM
The problem is that there are a lot more miners now than before so difficulty becomes a thing to calculate before any ASIC purchase.  ASIC producers don’t even have to advertise that much any more.  They get sold out in hours.  There really isn’t any incentive to have anyone test it here and setup group buys.

I generally like the Baikals because they can do more than one algo, so they tend to have a longer life span than most single algo ASICs.

Last year I tried to buy over 40 baikal cubes when they were available...2 attempts 2 different batches of 20 each

..I got 1 cube on the 1st batch when only 1 unit was available...I was TOLD I had in BOTH

batches later...I had the units and they would send me payment info...in both cases they said they sold them to someone else by accident ..er sorry...

this was not 1x for 1 batch..but 2x as it happened on a 2nd batch they offered and I tried again and I had 3 different assurances from sales/tech/email and 2nd sales email

all saying all was fine on that last attempt at 20 units..

of course, that was fantasy....they admitted they screwed up in both cases...

they then offered me 1 baikal cube they had there at 3am cst the email sent..from china..but because I did not reply in 1 hour they sold that too...yeah too bad I was asleep!

Also know folk who sent in wire xfers back about that time and am unsure if the EVER got their money back on the same kinda thing

thus I like my 1 only baikal 300mh cube...but sending wire xfers to those guys on the THEORY you'd get a miner ..IMHO and my experience...more than a bit IFFY

I'd only trust a group buy with baikal...er, MAYBE,  by that I mean a mess of us getting a mess of them in some manner.....otherwise you'd simply get stepped on ....with

large order on a wire xfer or whatever, maybe you'd have some clout to get something on such a cluster as I had...but my orders were for 20 in each case after

the first batch and I got blown off..so not a big fan of how they do business

Difficult and frustrating to read your wall o' text. You need proper formatting and maybe less run on sentences.

Why does it matter? You realize it will be prohibitively expensive right? So much so that any money gained from mining would be nothing compared to what it cost.
59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ordering GPU's in bulk in Europe on: February 20, 2018, 05:26:02 PM
You are just another drop in the bucket looking for 1000 cards, good luck.
60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: So where are the GPU miners going next? on: February 20, 2018, 04:56:53 PM
You cant claim Ethash is Asic until we see proof and even then, it wont be like previous asics that were orders of magnitude more powerful.

If the cost to buy one of these ASICS is the same as building a rig at MSRP for the same hashrate then it wont mean anything.... everyone will keep mining.

Yes, an Eth ASIC would be better than a GPU in terms of efficiency/density but the cost and low availability would stymie it. Unless they come out with some miracle Eth ASIC that does 600 Mh/s for like $2k then it wont change anything.
