41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Please answer two Noob questions on: June 26, 2017, 10:36:49 PM
Min Rank for posting in
Announcements (Altcoins)  ?

A really good overview of what is possible with ETH smart contracts?
Note: "Google it Noob" or The ETH forum?
Duh? I need a few fast answers, please?

Concept:
Money released after a Board of Directors votes?
I am certain (?) funds can be held until certain conditions are met.
What about a Board of Directors voting?

Rough idea:
The smart (really smart?) contract will "look for" input in the future
(For example) Enter the URL to a poll on a forum, If the B.O.D. voted to release the related funds for Decision #23, for example, then funds are released to the correct address(es)
^^^^
Possible, yes or no?

That is just one example. If you have "complex knowledge" of smart contracts please post here and give some idea how much you might charge per topic/per hour, or do we have people willing to help, like at the BTC side of the forum?   Cheesy

[Help] Idea/Concept Engineer needs help.

Thank you both for....something.   Cheesy

This is amazing, please see if a few more "skilled" people show up, and I have a good friend with way too many ideas. Two people could be enough, if you are both still active accounts in a couple weeks.

Please do not be scared of the username, this is a fun account to use/ask questions on an unsecured laptop.

[Alpha] "$2 Million Dollars" = A quiet, Open Source project to make 'big money' safer for the BTC ecosystem.

Background check:
```````````````
My username = "sock_info.doNOT.send.$"
My 'Casual' Reputation = https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1983610.0
```````````````

It should be relatively obvious that I am not trying to walk away with "$2 Million Dollars" any time soon.

The project: "$2 Million Dollars"
Goals: We need safer ways to deal with large amounts of money, especially when using BTC, the original standard for Modern Money.

One topic for suggestions:
Start with ETH open source code and build something better on top of Bitcoin.
This must have been suggested before, right?

Introducing Bit_therium Smart_Bits, etc.
Concept = A robust, ready to use smart contract framework on top of Bitcoin + An established community that will not quickly descend into an insane "Bubble Game".

"This side of the forum" has deeper roots, higher standards and clear memories of the great community here before May-Early June 2011, so the Human Layer is much stronger than the "Bubble Kids" next door.

One more possible topic:
As a concept
How do you ask possibly qualified investors to consider sending "$2 Million Dollars" into a smart contract?
To be clear: I am not talking about "sales", presentation, etc, but you are asking the person to self-identify as a multi-$M'aire in a potentially dangerous community.

They can send money anon, but need a way to track their investment, receive dividends, etc.
If you understand this, any ideas?

Please, try to give feedback here:
Has anyone else noticed "we" should be using the ETH Bubble Machine for projects specifically related to good old BTC, not just the "ecosystem". Sorry if I am not well informed, but why is not a bunch of that "crazy money" flowing in our direction, and helping generate some excitement on this side of town?

Respect to the old-timers, thank you.

Hey Spoetnik, you are a Legendary Child and Epic Troll who might never grow up, but this time you do make a really valid point.

(Half joking) I am glad to be the first to give you the attention you so clearly deserve.
(Even if it is only a small amount) You earned a bit of respect here, keep having fun bro  Cheesy , and enjoy your day.
46  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] How Many People Paid BTC To See How Many People Paid BTC on: June 26, 2017, 03:06:32 AM
Looks neat, but what the heck is it and what does it do? Do you expect people to send bitcoin to the address posted there and then click the button? Do you really expect people to actually do that? And what are they gonna get from it? You should explain it a bit.
Wosh... I don't get why so much hate on this thread.
It's clearly just a joke from OP and he isn't asking too much.

At least he isn't promising to double anyones money.

If you don't want to waste the huge amount of $0.50 from your fortune with something that useless, no one is forcing you to do so.

OP, I actually liked your idea. It's kinda creative and it doesn't take 2 minutes to stop by and donate some cents just to joke about it and increase the number of people's who sent you btc. I will remember to do later  Cool

TryNinja understands the value of creative humor, and would probably be a fun person to (potentially) meet in the real world someday.

The Bitcoin network (for example) needs ~51% min support to function properly. The "human layer" (people interacting "above" the P2P network) only needs ~20% of 'decent people' interacting for mutual benefit to thrive. After all the tough times and scams, it is great to see there are still good people in Coinland.

Quite amusing. Reminded me of the original million pixel advertisement site. A nice innovative way to earn some BTC and spread some laughs. Good luck with your project OP.

Yep, harmless LOL fun == Be the first to do something original, and enjoy the profits while others try to copy you later.
See also = "One red paperclip" == One time, one idea === Start with a red paperclip (using Craigslist and a "primitive weblog" ) and score a free house!

Seriously, has anyone here heard of this?
The exact idea can never be copied, but it is an inspiration for creative thinkers.

The catch?

Without telling your best private secrets, do you have crazy ideas, which just might entertain the World and create a great story with a happy ending?

ps. I could offer, ICO Credits in a great adventure!!, but am trying to "cut the crap" and start a real conversation, thanks.

Not an endorsement of jaxx per se but if someone untrustworthy has network access to files on your PC then you're already pwned.

52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Update of missing funds with ShapeShift on: June 25, 2017, 06:40:27 AM
I know how that feels to wait for someone "trusted" to make things right. You will probably be OK with this one.

p.s.  AFAIK, ShapeShift was originally presented as a type of "vending machine" for popular coins. (i.e.) They load the system with alt coins (& BTC) ready to be purchased with other coins & "everything settles" completely right away.

What happened?
Did that (simple, basic idea) change?
53  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] How Many People Paid BTC To See How Many People Paid BTC on: June 25, 2017, 02:08:17 AM
It's important to remember the silly things in life, even when in the middle of an economic revolution.

https://howmanypeoplepaidbtctoseehowmanypeoplepaidbtc.com/

LOL, brilliant & crazy fun!
You might want to try a few altcoin sites since good old BTC is suffering from high fees. You could even combine several alts on one single homepage.
54  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Any web devs wants to join a goldfarm startup? on: June 25, 2017, 02:00:39 AM

That would not be the best option for me. I don't think you have dealt with goldfarm shop before?

Not exactly, in the early days of bitcoin you could "buy" it from virwox (second life game money exchange) by paying USD for game money, then exchange it for bitcoin. Is that what you're really looking for, an exchange? https://www.virwox.com/

Yes, A classic "safe" way to sell BTC for Paypal, but the fees and transaction costs would come close to 20% (!) when BTC was ~$5 each, if I remember correctly.
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Building a PoT (proof-of-trust) blockchain. Please share your opinions! on: June 25, 2017, 01:03:35 AM
Hey guys,
I'm a long time lurker here, decided to join and share my new programming project.  I'm currently building a new blockchain that will use a PoT (proof-of-trust) algo instead of a PoW or a PoS.

You can see the explanation of the project here: https://github.com/rodrigue-tech/trustchain/blob/master/README.md

Please let me know what you think of the project; your opinions.  If you want to join the slack channel to discuss the development, please PM me your email and Ill invite you.

Thanks a lot in advance guys!
Steve

"Miners and voters will be ranked by their credibility on social networks. Credibility will be calculated by the interactions people do on social networks with others and the reach and quality of their connections. Credibility is hard to gain and harder to keep..."

Hi steve-rodrigue,
Your enthusiasm is great, but (for example) does "Credibility" on MySpace count?
As the world rushes towards the future, how do you rotate through the social networks considered valid today, only to become the "abandoned virtual amusement parks" of tomorrow?
56  Other / Off-topic / What are your "golden days/ months" at BCT, do you have a favorite time? on: June 24, 2017, 11:26:46 PM
FYI: This newbie account is a casual, "funny sock puppet" with a clear plan to never develop a 'normal reputation' or accept any standard type of payment, ever. Do NOT ever send me (this username) money!

What are your "golden days/ months" at BCT, do you have a favorite time?

My established, real account landed here in April/May 2011, shortly before the first great Bull Market, and devastating troll invasion. This place was awesome beyond description!

You could buy socks, alpaca socks, not screaming sock puppets trying to make money from ugly sigs.

You might be able to get a hot, fresh pizza (or two), but you would learn later you paid a really high future cost for that yummy meal

Edit: Noobs cannot post images??
```````````````
```````````````

This forum was great since most of the people here were focused on fun, adventure, helping others, and possibly making money in the distant future without a fast rush to payday.

Pre-June 2011 == The gold standard for great times in this community, imo.
How about you?
What are your "golden days/ months" at BCT, do you have a favorite time?

57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / "Better ICO" seeking basic (and advanced) info re: smart contracts. on: June 24, 2017, 10:24:36 PM
Hi, thanks for a moment of your time.
"Better ICO" == Give investors a better deal long-term.

``````````````````
``````````````````
Large Bounties, see below
``````````````````
"...seeking basic (and advanced) info re: smart contracts."
I am extremely familiar with how great this forum/community (BCT) used to be, & also have both eyes on a bit_better future.
In the here and now, I would, please like some info re: smart contracts, ICO's, etc.
Please do not feel a need to answer every point, (for example, you could choose one or two topics that need a "reality check", thanks)
``````````````````
1)
Is there any "known limit" to how many people can be paid by a single smart contract?
(For example) Social bounties, translators, "sock puppet" sigs, early seed discounts, "Our Team", etc, etc. == So many people looking to rush straight to payday.

Does the average "company/CEO" get directly involved in creating the smart contract, or do they tend to outsource the task(s) to local experts here at BCT?

``````````````````
2)
Can smart contracts be designed to "handle almost anything"? (for example)
If/else:
If a "standards committee" has formed and done ____ ,  _____, & defined ____, then funds can be released to a related "open source project",
else,
The funds are held waiting for "the community members/ investors" to respond.
``````````````````
3)
Has anyone ever before "changed the time frame" regarding the rush to payday?
(For example)
Standard ICO credits == The expectation of a quick rush to payday, ASAP, like you have now.

"Golden ICO" credits == Build "something better" prior to the fast dash to big money, giving investors a better chance long-term.
^^^
Has anyone ever seen that type of idea, prior to ~three weeks ago? (for example)

```````````````````
4)
The current conditions seem to favor "companies" who are able to produce a "slick" presentation with a professional video, and are looking to raise $5M, $10M, even $35M in a short period of time.
Is there still room for local, community-first, "unprofessional" Devs to create projects and have their voice be heard? How?
```````````````````
5)
I understand (almost everything) prior to the Big Payday (except for, as mentioned above, some details re: the creation of smart contracts), but do not understand what the "last investors" are thinking (i.e the people who pay/ buy in after the early seeds)

Do people really expect an almost non-stop series of "companies" to form and create profits enough to sustain literally 1000's of endless tokens? Please, help explain what is really going on here?

(For example, no offense intended to anyone) [ANN] > Launch sock puppets "screaming everywhere" with various bounties to pay them > 1st seed > 2nd seed (maybe pay off some people here) > Big Payday! > 'Company' funded > Token #344,657 sent to trade on the exchanges > "Company" issues a positive update re: the project > Oops, two weeks later we have unexpected delays >more delays > last update == We are partying on a beach, thanks for the funding suckers!
^^^
Does a single person really believe at least some of the "companies" do not end up this way?

```````````````````
6a) Has anyone ever suggested "Golden ICO standards" or (similar), which would help evaluate businesses plans to help protect investors.
``
6b) Do you actually like the current conditions, or would you potentially like to experiment with creating a bit_better system?
There does not need to be a single certification effort, but several competing to establish the best reputation.
```````````````````
7) The USA version of an SEC only affects American projects (for example), but at some point, "this place" is going to need expert lawyers to turn "ETH bubble land" into something more sustainable, long-term. I didn't say "I love lawyers", but sometimes they are needed to make things work in the real world.

Do you see a "screaming need", for eventual legal help around here, yes or no?

```````````````````
Thank you for your time, please answer at least one or two sections, and qualify to compete for "over ONE MILLION DOLLARS" in Golden ICO credits!
Seriously, not a joke....  Cheesy
58  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: ['Open Source' "Bubble $"] If You Knew ~$40 M was coming this way what would... on: June 24, 2017, 07:10:05 PM
what did I just read here?
The loud and active side of the forum (ETH bubble heads) have endless Millions flying around funding "companies" who are able to make a decent presentation combined with a video.
This side of the forum, the original BTC community is locked in a "bloody civil war" with no end in sight.
1a) (For example) [ANN] BTC Elders,massive funding is on the way!  ... Funding for BTC related projects, which "poke" but do not destroy the ETH Bubble Game.
1b) How will the "tired old BTC community" react to knowing that money is coming, will they keep fighting or prepare for something better?
I know for certain there are brilliant people (pre-May 2011) who will LOVE this and help to answer related questions.
Thanks for asking.
59  Bitcoin / Project Development / ['Open Source' "Bubble $"] If You Knew ~$40 M was coming this way what would... on: June 24, 2017, 05:48:33 PM
<!!>
I am not qualified or interested in leading this project, it is/will be a gift to those who came before me.
</!!>
Security Alert: I have shared additional details with some very old Libertarian friends who can help guide this effort, in case I am unable. Great ideas cannot be stopped once enough people understand the vision.
['Open Source' "Bubble $"] If You Knew ~$40 M was coming this way what would happen?
Clear, focused Intro #1:
This effort is dedicated to the great people who where here at BCT before April/May/Mid-June 2011, & everyone is invited to participate.
CFI #2: If someone/ anyone suggested "poke But do not destroy the ETH bubble head games" to raise money for healing and helping "good Old BTC", what would happen?
(For example)
Fights breaking out....
What % does RV's side get?
Fund the other side, are you serious?
etc, etc,etc.
(Better example)
If You Knew ~$40 M was coming this way what would happen?
Smart contracts can be programmed to hold funds until "Standards Committees" agree it is safe to release funds to an open source type effort.
As a virtual "one post noob", the intention (for example) is not a "hostile takeover" of BTC Dev, but a quiet & cooperative effort to fund for example, a true Open-source community alternative to Lighting Network and other projects vital to seeing BTC, and other coins actually go mainstream.
Last try:
There are tons of details to explore, before the flood of money comes.
If You Knew ~$40 M was coming this way what would happen?
Would the BTC Civil War be dropped for a while, or only get worse?
 How will the ETH bubble heads react when "we" develop long-term plans to repeatedly "poke" their game, and harvest some well deserved funding to support good old BTC?
<!!>
I am not qualified or interested in leading this project, it is/will be a gift to those who came before me.
</!!>
I sometimes have trouble communicating clearly:
Are the respected BTC elders ready to handle a flow of money, into the "quiet side of town" and can you use it for helping improve the awesome project you gave to the world?
This is a casual, easy account which I can use on an unprotected laptop (ie /sitting outside on a nice day, and asking a few questions here)
The laptop could possibly be stolen.
The password for this account and related email are relatively simple.
This is the only active sock puppet of a long-term member. Since I never use socks to "bump threads" or make it look like people are starting to pay for something, the competition for my real account to get attention is rough, but I will eventually be proud to know I did things the right way.
