41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why XRP will have a good year in 2018. on: January 30, 2018, 10:32:53 AM
For being stable Ripple could have a good year this 2018, however price for each coin will still not surpass that of leading coins, BTC, ETH, BCC. But I can see growth on this coin and could be the next big thing in cryptocurrency. A lot of people as well are talking about this coin so this means it will be easier to spread worldwide and influence investors to invest in Ripple. Once investors have interest in using ripple as their coin of choice this should slowly rise up in value.
42  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Establishments / Sites that accepts bitcoins as payment here in the Philippines on: January 29, 2018, 07:39:51 PM

43  Other / Meta / Re: What are the negativities of Merit system[UPDATED] on: January 29, 2018, 11:34:43 AM
Here are the negative points I think of the Merit system:

1. The system is somewhat biased as for higher ranks they don't need to work hard already for their ranks, compared to lower ranks.
2. The system is somewhat not fair as a person with a lot of merits can award an instant 20 or more merits to one post. There are a lot of people who needs those merits which are also posting good posts, so rather than giving instant 20 merits to one person why not spread it to others. There should be a limit of merits you can receive from 1 source in a day. Let say 1 merit from 1 source per day should be fair enough.
3. The system encourages selling of merits in exchange for services or cash.
4. The number of merits required for a level up is just outrageous and not very attainable. Due to the number of merits a person need to have before a level up, this should be updated. Maybe increments of 20 merits per rank movement would be fine as long as they will also implement a cap of merits you can only receive in a person per day or maybe per week.
Not totally agree with your points. However, I think Theymos should limit the maximum number of merits for each thread. The range of merits received/ donated might be somewhere between 1 to 5 (measurement scale). For example:
1. for good quality post
2. for somewhat better than good quality post
3. for high-qualitied post.
4. for somewhat better than high-qualitied post.
5. for extremely high-qualitied post.

This sort of merit measurement scale will better control sell/buying sMerits between users.

A merit Measurement scale is also not attainable, since if my intentions is to game the system I could give 5 merits  each day regardless if it is an excellent post or not, No one can judge that since measurement scale can be subjective you can justify that it is an excellent post for you but not for others. So I guess limiting the merits being given is a more fair way of appreciating a post.
44  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: January 29, 2018, 11:00:54 AM
I hope I am not yet too late to give out my Opinion on the new merit system. I am really in favor of this system as this will encourage all users to write good quality posts. I have no issues with that, as that is very attainable. What I am worried is this system is prone to gaming and abuse. For example a person who has a lot of merits can give one person an instant 20 or more merits for just one post, might be good or bad post it depends on the one giving the merit how many he can give as long as he has a lot of merits. My suggestion is to limit the merits to 1 merit per instance per person per post. So for example I have a really good post, I can only receive a maximum of 1 merit from one person for that post. So If i gain 100 persons who thinks my post is good then that is the only time I can get 100 merits. I would also suggest if admin can lower the merit requirements to I guess 20 - 30 increments per rank  so it can be much attainable, especially for those people who are still starting out this will really promote them to post good content at the same time still motivated to rank up.
45  Other / Meta / Re: The reality is 99.9% members can never rank up with the new merit system. on: January 29, 2018, 10:48:27 AM
limit of merits per day will add extra proofing on the system so that people would not game on the system. There are a lot of people giving out 20 or more merits but if you read the post it is not that good to be merited 20 merits, Rather than giving it to a single person why not spread it to others with also good post. Your generosity is not determined by the number of merits you give to one single person but the number of persons who are thankful for the merit you gave them even if it is only 1 merit, that is already more than enough to let them know that they did great on their post.

Is this what you meant?

Everyone now in the forum specially low ranked users has only one target : how can I get free merit points , I have the solution for you :
1- improve your writing style
2- try to read posts before relying so you don't repeat something already said
3- improve your English or just stay in your local board
4- try to avoid participating in signature campaigns because this is the big issue in this forum and the reason of the low quality posts nowadays
If you're here to make money then there is millions of opportunities and ideas in this forum that should help you , not only signature campaigns .
Anyway I advice you to forget about getting something free here , every thing has a price , even this post has a price , his price is my time .  Wink

~
I also notice that your topic got 50 sMerits from someone. That's really strange. Your topic is good, but not good or high-qualitied enough which deserved to get 50 sMerits from only one user.

This is an example, but i am talking in general. I am not pointing fingers to who has given merits and how many they gave. Yes maybe they are just being generous, but com'on there are a lot of people still posting good stuff here but have not been merited. He could at least spread out those merits, than giving it to one person. For me one merit is enough to appreciate a post. If you do like the content of the post you can at least give one merit then spread the rest of the merits to other good posts. That is why this system is really prone to gaming. I am not against of the merits system. I am just worried on how the merits are going to be allocated and spread out.
46  Other / Meta / Re: The reality is 99.9% members can never rank up with the new merit system. on: January 29, 2018, 03:29:25 AM
I really have no problem with the new system, this encourages us to think more, and to participate more with other people in the forum and soon enough we will get our merits. I just hope that admins will at least decrease the number of merits needed to level up, I guess increments of 20 merits will be fine enough as long as there is only a limit of 1 merit you can receive for like a day or so. The merit system now is somewhat biased though as a person who has a lot of merits can give out 50 merits in one post rather than distributing it to others with such good posts as well, so I guess a limit of 1 merit per person per day would be fair enough. The receiver of the merit is only limited to receive 1 merit per person who merits his post so if he could get 100 persons who likes his post for that day then that is an instant 100 merits for him.
I dont think limit on merits per person per day is a good, appropriate choice. That should depends on the level of quality of each post and, of course, generosity of each merit senders. Let's everything work naturally, human will manage the merit system automatically.

limit of merits per day will add extra proofing on the system so that people would not game on the system. There are a lot of people giving out 20 or more merits but if you read the post it is not that good to be merited 20 merits, Rather than giving it to a single person why not spread it to others with also good post. 49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buying coffee with cryptocurrency on: January 28, 2018, 10:11:40 AM
More businesses are accepting cryptocurrency as a payment for their product especially in food and beverage section. In canada KFC are accepting Bitcoin as a payment and now there is a news about Starbucks planing to use blockchain technology and want to make their own coin that can be use to buy cup of coffee.
Link: https://www.coindesk.com/starbucks-chairman-hot-blockchain-cold-bitcoin/

i believe this is good news for uses of cryptocurrency, which is the uses of cryptocurrency as payment would be realize in our future of transaction.

this is good news, at least more and more establishments are recognizing the power of cryptocurrency, once more on more establishments are accepting cryptocurrency there will be a lot of opportunities for us to explore the cryptocurrency world. Price of cryptocurrency will surely rise due to scarcity of coins when time comes.
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BITCONNECT X FUTURE.. on: January 28, 2018, 05:11:53 AM
With Bitconnect's reputation I don't think someone will still invest their money with them. It will be the same thing that could happen. But if you are a risk taker than go ahead and waste your money. But I don't think this is going to be a legit one, give it 6 months operations and they will  report they are hacked or other lame excuses taking all your money. I will never trust my money with them.

53  Local / Pamilihan / Re: globe load to bitcoin on: January 27, 2018, 03:44:56 PM

56  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: Merit - Discouragement on: January 27, 2018, 02:52:20 PM
So wag po natin isipin kung paano mapabilis mag pa rank up.
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HELP ME TO DECIDE PLEASE! on: January 27, 2018, 05:21:29 AM
Hello Bitcointalk.org people. I am planning to create a cryptocurrency that mainly used for trading only. A cryptocurrency that will rise in value as time passes by. A cryptocurrency that can be treasure and inherit by future generations especially our children and grandchildren. As we all know some cryptos and ICOs nowadays are scams. And some are good cryptos and ICOs but later turn into scam because they were not able to accomplish what they promise. Some were discourage and some failed along the way. That's why i came up with this idea. Enough of scam cryptos and ICOs. Now help me to decide should I Or should not continue this vision that I have?

All your comments and feedbacks will be greatly appreciated  Smiley

Your vision is great! But a vision like this is too complicated, there will be a lot of hard work and dedication that you need to invest to pull this off. If your vision is a cryptocurrency that will stay for a lifetime, You will need a good team that shares the same Vision and makes the vision a reality which is a very rare instance as most projects now a days are just after for the money once they have the expected money already they all flee without any sign then another project will emerge literally the same people, same great portfolios, just using different names and pictures to scam the public. If you have the right team, abundant resources, and a lot of patience you can at least try making your vision a reality. A vision like this will change how we view cryptocurrency now. It will be more meaningful to store coins for the future generations to inherit a thing which you can include in your last will and be inherited by someone special. I was thinking in order for this kind of thing to work you will have to create several coins with different rarity. Being a rare coin that has a value the grows over time is something you can have which you can share to future generation for them to inherit and might change their lives. Or a coin which is tied to a rare object of desire, it could be anything with value that grows over time might be like a land title of some kind. So there I have given you a feedback which you can think it over if it would really be possible to pull a vision like this to a success. But if ever this vision becomes a reality and will be successful I will be the first to congratulate you for having this kind of vision and support it for sustainability.
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What altcoin will make us rich? on: January 27, 2018, 01:40:59 AM
There is no definitive answer to which altcoin will really make you rich. The market is highly very volatile that prices rapidly changes in a matter of minutes or days. $500 is a good start up though if you want to proceed with trading. I would suggest for low risk takers go for coins which has already established names like litecoin / ethereum / ripple / monero and a lot more. Just to be on the safer side that you will not loose all your money in an instant. If you are more of a risk taker you can buy those new emerging coins and hold on to it until you get some profit. The only key here is whatever coin you choose to buy with that $500 try to buy at it's lowest price try on checking historical trends and buy at a low price then always sell at a high price. In case where the coin drops in value never sell if you can't get any profit from it as you are just loosing money in the process. Altcoins can't make you a one day millionaire that's for sure! But when you constantly do it to buy low and always sell high then this coins will make you rich someday.

Well that is too bad. it is very highly unlikely that someone who ever owns that address will send you back your money just because of honesty. And if that someone is truly honest and want to give back the money how would that someone trust that you were really the person who sent the money to him? Sure you can provide logs of the transaction but logs can also be copied somewhere else. I would say by by for your money now if it was really your money. I would suggest to just move on and try to earn it back through legal stuff and may it be a lesson for you to double / triple check the address before sending anything. Sometimes learning experience comes with a hefty price and your were just hit with it.
60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stay away from any MLM based on crypto. on: January 26, 2018, 11:07:39 AM
MLM is just good for early start-ups. A lot of people also made some money with MLM based crypto. If you choose to join an MLM based crypto you have to make sure you are one of the first start-ups then once you reach ROI, be ready to pack up your bags and leave. No MLM / HYIP / Pyramiding schemes that are successful based on what was promised. Only those people who started early will enjoy it's benefits but once a number of people will join already it becomes very dangerous and in any second it can go bankrupt. As we all know MLM based cyptos are just dependent on the investment of the new joiner that you have invited. If you are the type of person who is not good in convincing people better not join this kind of scheme you will just loose money in the long run.
