Where can I exchange BTC for BAY right now? Which exchanges?

Cryptopia went bye-bye.
Exchange.me only lists ABY not BAY.
Bittrex delisted BAY
So that leaves:
LiteBit
UPbit
BITLADON

Are these three all still good with BAY?
Is there any other place to swap BTC for BAY?

Thx
LAtoken will support US customers, Chaoex I think does as well and we are talking to 5 others. For now you can buy from anyone in the community by asking on Slack or Telegram and then buy through the BitBay markets client or Bithalo or even directly.

I would like to buy here directly. I don't use Telegram.
I could sign into Slack if is really required otherwise I would accept offers in privat messages over this forum
with amount and price.

Escrow is a must!!!
If anyone here from you hodlers has some to sell, please let me know.

Thanks.

Try posting a contract in the marketplace (see link in post right before this), that is the safest way for now while we're waiting for the exchanges finish peg integration.

Maybe LAToken is flaky. Right now beggars can't be choosers. Transfer your BTC to LAToken, buy BAY, then immediately transfer them to your laptop.

Could somebody please provide "How to Buy BAY OTC for Dummies"?

Here's a tutorial on purchasing BAY OTC through the BitBay markets client:

@Pajulapoiss
The Bit Bay Coin and Polish Exchange are not the same.
It's all been very confusing over the years.

Hopefully David and the team can make some kind of obvious differentiation between the two after the peg...
And hopefully this question gets the attention that a slight name change may need to happen to prevent this confusion in the future.
Thanks

Where Can i find more info about the peg you are talking about?

Thanks for the interest in BitBay (BAY). It is one of the most underrated projects in crypto... for now.  Wink

Here's some more info on the Dynamic Peg (will be going live here very soon):
https://bitbay.market/downloads/bitbay-dynamic-peg-intro.pdf
https://medium.com/bitbay-blog/bitbay-dynamic-peg-faq-8cd257da63fd

You can also watch the team test it here:
https://bitbaymarket.github.io/ratedb-testnet/
That most recent dip you see on this testnet chart was an intentional selloff by the team to mimic current real life market conditions. The strong recovery right after is a combo of the peg freezing the supply liquidity by 99%, and a pathetic amount of buy volume (.5 BTC) being applied. As you can see, it's a very powerful tool.

Bittrex delist BAY - I tell you before LiteBit.eu announces too: BAY will be delisted too and UpBit will follow the delisting. The three exchanges and broker always go together.

Now Bay is going to be killed by these accomplices Cry

yeah, that large red font isn't helping anybody.

After 5 years of successfully overcoming hurdle after hurdle, I definitely wouldn't bet on BAY getting killed anytime soon. Bittrex is a mere speedbump.   Cool

BitBay Community Update – 26th July 2019

BitBay partners with three new exchanges to release the Dynamic Peg
You may have already heard the news on social media, but if not, then you’ve missed one of the most significant news updates in the crypto sphere this year! Yes, the Dynamic Peg is coming to exchanges near you very soon…

Bitbay has partnered with Bitker, Chaoex and LAToken, to give new traders and the existing community more to trade $BAY. These are some of the most popular exchanges in Europe and Asia and potentially introduce BitBay to hundreds of thousands of new followers.

Bitker
Established in Singapore in 2017, Bitker is the One-Stop Digital Asset Trading Platform. The platform supports cryptocurrency trade, including currency transactions, contract transactions, and leveraged transactions.

Chaoex
Established in June 2017, Chaoex is a global trading platform. Chaoex strategic partners include well-known investment institutions, artificial intelligence trading providers, digital asset liquidity providers and other professional institutions.

LAToken
LAToken is a top 20 cryptocurrency exchange specialized in providing liquidity for new digital assets. Besides crypto trading, eligible LAToken users can participate in selected token sales at pre-sale and crowdsale stages.

We are proud to have these exchanges as partners to bring the Dynamic Peg to the world and be able to show what this new protocol can do for traders and investors. We’ll have release dates for each exchange as soon as the integration process is completed but we can say that, so far, it is going very well. Stay tuned…

BitBay Website Update
We have now completed the move of the BitBay website from the Drupal CMS to a static GitHub hosted website. This is another step towards the goal of self-governance where community members can submit pull requests to update the website and the community can vote on whether or not to implement these updates. The governance process has still to be implemented via the BitBay forum, but our contributors are working on this and it will be ready soon.

BitBay Foundation
In other news, we have also launched the BitBay Foundation website preview at https://bitbay.foundation
While the legal framework is still being completed, we are confident this will be done in the next couple of weeks so we are asking our community to provide us with their feedback on the foundation website. Once the foundation setup is complete, it will be possible for anyone to donate to the foundation causes, contributing to the growth and development of BitBay.

Web Marketplace
Next week we will also be rolling out a new update for the web marketplace which will include small bug fixes, a lot of improvements for mobile and tablet devices, an improved buy and sell flow for users, and some new features which we will announce at the time of release.
And finally, a big thank you to all our community members old and new for your continued patience and loyalty while we have been working on securing new exchanges for the Dynamic Peg. We know everyone is looking forward to this as much as we are!

Until next time,
Shorn Keld – Lead Project Manager @ BitBay

Thank you for getting back so quickly.

I don't know anything about BAYR or liquid BAY or anything else.

Could you back up and give some sort of overview? I am totally lost. You seem to have a full grasp on everything. Is there a White Paper I should read?

Please EILI5.

Well listing BAY requires a thousand or so lines of code they have to add.

Is that including the peg?
49  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: OEX.com is a scam crypto exchange on: May 22, 2019, 12:10:11 AM
Another chinese way of scam.
First they allow me to transfer NEBL coins from Binance, there are not many users active, it appears administrator is manulating data like price and date\time. After a while there is not much action going on, when I go to withdraw, they won't allow as it keeps throwing error showing auditing user name.
The same is not the case for deposit.

Contacted support, no response so far.

For last 2 days http://oex.com site is under upgrade, keep getting same error when trying to log in with my user id, however they do allow new registrations. Gone are transferred NEBL coins to their exchange

Did report to http://coinmarketcap.com  , not sure where else to report?

Everyone, please stay away from this exchange, they are a big time fraudters and scam people.

Not sure how they got license to open website, crypto exchanges, other crypto currencies mentioning this website, they bring bad reputation to China and its people. OEX.com shame on you.

Thanks
Murali

Unfortunately this is one of many shady things that this exchange has done.

Back in January, the BitBay (BAY) project paid 3BTC and signed a contract with them to get listed. After 4 months little/no communication and no listing, OEX wouldn't even respond to issue a refund!

Everyone please spread the word so more hard-working projects like this don't get burned.

not a super deep technical insight may be if you are a coder but this one explains how it will work

https://medium.com/@bitbay/bitbay-dynamic-peg-faq-8cd257da63fd

pegged to 100000th of BTC price 20cents to start. Be nice to just target a dollar for simplicity as soon as possible. I don't mind having my coins locked down until then.

Also good to keep in mind... this $.20 target is only set for the algorithm voting option.

If a majority of users choose to vote for the deflate option instead of algorithm, it could go higher  Smiley

Really looking forward to testing the demo exchange w/ Dynamic Peg voting here soon! Everyone will finally be able to witness the effect of liquidity's change on price.

Most recent update on BitBay's development:

BitBay Community Update — 15th February 2019

"Hi all,

I have finally found some time to write a quick community update and my apologies for the delay in getting this out. It’s been a busy week (as always!) and with the release of some bug fixes and feature updates for the web marketplace, there has been a lot of testing to get done.

So without further delay, here’s what we’ve been up to and what we’re doing next …

Web Marketplace
The web markets v0.2 was released to the beta testers in slack. This update saw a few small but annoying bugs fixed, including the issue with trying to buy an item while another blockchain transaction was pending. I’m happy to say everything seems to be running very smoothly again now.

A major feature included in this latest release is the email notification system for all important transactions on the marketplace, keeping buyers and sellers up to date on the progress of their trades. We also introduced the requirement that all buyers and sellers entering into a contract have a verified email address on account, making it easy for the other party to contact them directly.

We also made some minor changes to the navigation system to simplify the flow for users who have bought and sold items.

Our next major release will include the ‘live update service’ (beta v0.3) allowing all contract data to be updated in real-time without the need to refresh the browser and more improvements for mobile and tablet devices.

Once the live update service is tested and release we will be working on a new live chat system enabling real-time conversations between buyers and sellers without leaving the marketplace. We will also be introducing the live escrow-dispute feature to further enhance the DDE process for users.

These are two very important releases as they move us a big step closer to the first ‘open public’ beta. This open beta will be a fully-featured web marketplace including improvements based on the feedback we get from the BitBay community.

Dynamic Peg
After successfully completing the development of the new BitBay Qt wallet in preparation for the mainnet release of the dynamic peg, our blockchain and Qt developer Yshurik has now joined the exchange integration team.

This week saw a lot of progress with some major bugs being fixed, and live calls being made between the BitBay and exchange API’s. We are getting close to being able to test the live trading on the exchange with BTC/BAY and BTC/BAYR pairs (where R = reserved).

Next week, in the interests of transparency and keeping the community updated, we will be releasing our development roadmap for the peg so our community can see exactly where we are up to and what is left to do.

As always, the team would like to thank our community for their continued support.

Until next week,

Shorn
Project Manager @ BitBay"

Can anyone ELI5 me on Dynamic PEG? I don't understand what it is and on which currency BAY will be pegged to...or if there is another coin running on BitBay which the pegged one

With the Dynamic Peg, BAY is not pegged to any currency or asset at all. It's one coin, that has multiple levels of liquidity (spending power) within it.

It can best be described through an analogy.

Imagine there is a group of thirsty people, and in front of them is a water vending machine. This vending machine can quickly turn liquid water into ice, and vice versa.

7 times a day, this group casts a vote to express their level of thirst. Based on the consensus of each voting session, the machine releases (or freezes) a specific amount (1-3%) of water, leaving an amount closer to what everyone wants to drink.

If demand falls and water freezes, then there is less liquid to drink. This puts upward price pressure on of liquid water.
If demand increases and water unfreezes, there is more liquid to drink. This puts downward price pressure on liquid water.

So the price of liquid water becomes stable, in relation to the amount needed by the group. People's level of thirst is always changing, and the price can change right along with it.

--

BitBay's Dynamic Peg is this water vending machine, but for money... and the group of people voting are all the stakers of BitBay's blockchain.

It moves towards a liquid price that everyone agrees on, and the rest is frozen for later. The frozen BAY can then be traded on a secondary market, based on a future speculative value.

Because it is democratic, there is no need to peg it to an asset or fix it to a price. The total supply is controlled by the users themselves, and not a central entity. History has shown how price fixing and hard currency pegs always fail under extreme market pressure. Because it's not pegged, there is no need for auditing reserves (like tether, gemeni, circle, etc.), or trying to keep a hard price ($1) when the market chooses otherwise... like most other stablecoins.

Instead the dynamic peg allows the price to move and adapt with market swings, within refined limits. It reduces (but doesn't eliminate) volatility to the point where people can use BAY as both a store of value, and a medium of exchange. This allows the users of BitBay's marketplace to have a stable form of value when using BAY as a deposit for its P2P contracts.

ps: if a user doesn't want to vote, they can opt to have an algorithm vote for them  Smiley

55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: List of coins i should hold for next 2 years... on: January 13, 2019, 12:18:57 PM
Hello there i want to build up my portfolio in the crypto world...right now i have started with ether and bought 2 ethereums..every month i will get salary and i will keep building my portfolio and plan to hold them for atleast 2 years...right now my next targets are NEO and WAVES..because by holding them i can earn gas and can lease waves to earn more as well and also these are coins with good potential....Bitcoin is already too high..please suggest me some more coins which i should buy and just hold them or forget them for next 2-3 years

I would highly recommend BitBay (BAY) as a coin to hold long term.

Over the last 5 years, they have been successfully built a decentralized marketplace, and are about to release a new user value protection system. This new system will have an initial price target of 1/100,000th the price of BTC's ATH... aka $.20.

So there is still a TON of room to grow between now and then.
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Most unique and original stablecoin designs on: January 09, 2019, 05:36:27 PM
Which stablecoins out there have the most unique mechanisms for price control? Looking for more projects like BitBay (BAY) and Maker (DAI), which are inventing new methods of price stability.

Note: Fiat-pegged, asset-backed, similar traditional mechanisms do not count! They are a dime-a-dozen in this space.

57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: which alts will survive? on: January 09, 2019, 05:29:09 PM
hey all, new to this forum, was wondering which alts do people think will survive? Which ones will gain traction when this crypto winter ends? Which ones have a use that will be taken up by the mainstream? Thanks

BitBay (BAY) will easily survive. It has been around for 5 years now, and is not going anywhere.

They're about to release a new democratic feature that reduces volatility. That, in combo with their fully functional decentralized marketplace will gain some serious traction here in 2019.
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are asset-backed stablecoins the future of money? on: January 08, 2019, 03:01:20 PM
I think it depends upon the backing model itself. So, not all stablecoins are created equal!
Also, many are risky because of fraudulent actions. But, this doesn't mean they are not here to stay. I feel precious metals, like gold is a good real value for backing crypto-assets. Take for example the Gigzi project, (which is on its ico stage right now) it has a good "Tokenized Precious Metals" model. Moreover, Gold has a more stabe price than just using fiat currency. So, yea, I'm with real asset-backed crypto.

Agreed, that's a great point.

Gold and other precious metals definitely appear more stable than fiat. So then the question is, whats behind the concept of "stable value"?

Is it just a consistency of demand and supply?
If demand for gold changes, and its supply match it, the price will move.

Tell me why we can't build a cryptocurrency which constantly adjusts its supply to meet demand, therefore making it stable... without having to be backed by anything?

60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Most unique and innovative stablecoins on: January 07, 2019, 05:09:48 PM
I admire only 2 stable coins. The first one is usdt, because without usdt whole crypto economy won't exist and second one is DAI, because you can take crypto backed loans there. It is awesome

Does DAI's reliance on Ethereum's network present a vulnerability? What happens to DAI if ETH fails to scale or further centralizes?
