41  Other / Off-topic / Re: Relationship not marriage, a need to be careful with the information we share. on: February 17, 2024, 05:30:09 PM
Men are extremely vulnerable to scammsters, especially in this generation.

There is a Youtube channel that documents cases of older men looking for love online and voluntarily sent large sums of money to maintain the "relationship". The channel interviews these people--they tell their story even though it is embarrassing. It is sad and yet empowering at the same time.

Do not date ruthless people, or anyone you cannot be sure is trustworthy.

The founder said that they could do a video of a different case every day of the year and not run out of material.

Coinjoins are non custodial group transactions, you can gain complete privacy on your coins with BTCPay Server's coinjoin plugin, Trezor Suite's coinjoin account, or Wasabi Wallet (for desktop).

Are CoinJoin transaction truly private? What about the blockchain analysis projects that are around? Does this feature make Bitcoin private, or "mostly private"?
43  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Here's why BCH/BSV lovers constantly attack BTC... on: February 17, 2024, 04:59:52 PM
Deep inside their heart they know that BTC is the only true Bitcoin, therefore they try to change it as they see fit.

Never-bitcoiners have been around from the beginning. They go through stages of acceptance:

1. Bitcoin is like pet rocks / Tulips! They have no value!
2. Ok, Bitcoin has value, but it will fail because someone will hack it / 51% attack it!
3. Fine, Bitcoin has value and is secure, but there are better ways to do blockchain!
4. *FOMO in at $100,000*
44  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: A Bet on COPA - versus - Craig Wright $1.1 million dollars ! on: February 17, 2024, 04:54:45 PM
Obviously CR will lose because its clear to everyone now that he is a fraud and needs to find himself a good therapist.

But I don't trust that you have a block of bitcoin to give away.
45  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will it have positive/negative on bitcoin development? on: February 10, 2024, 09:12:32 PM
I remember Craig Wright from the early days (2011 onwards). He came across as a sketchy character, and my gut feeling was that he wasn't to be trusted. The claims that he fabricated documents to prove he was Satoshi do not surprise me at all.

Normal people don't do what he does. I think he needs professional help. Just my personal opinion, I am not a mental health specialist.
46  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: AI-generated fake IDs claimed to pass crypto exchange KYC are selling for $15 on: February 10, 2024, 08:31:09 PM
That's a pretty Bad news because dishonest casinos and exchanges will use it as an excuse for asking more private documents to their customers

What are the chances that this AI tool has been created or sponsored by powerful entities to further their ambitions in creating a global secure digital identity?
47  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: VPS Recommendation for Crypto business on: February 10, 2024, 07:42:46 PM
For a start, anything reliable and crypto friendly. If the project grows, i can always migrate.

For now, minimal 1 Core, 1GB RAM and 5G NVM.  Smiley

So far, im having doubts between Ionos and Ultahost.  Huh

You can probably get that for free at Amazon AWS for 750 hours a month, with a new account. That runs for 12 months.

Since you are on a thin budget, I recommend buying AWS credits on this forum to get you started. They are typically 50% off.

Example of a seller I recommend and trust: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5352922.0
48  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Privacy Protocols on: February 10, 2024, 07:37:43 PM

There is no absolute transaction privacy with any transactions, even with monero.
I am sure that for Bitcoin we are going to use some interesting second layer solution that will help as achieve much higher level of privacy.
Statechains is one of this options I like very much.

And yet there is a desperate and growing need for it as international forces grow stronger in their global reach, and more malevolent in their long-term goals.

Yes, no technical solution is perfect, but the right to private transactions should be legally enshrined so that even if technology falls short in some way, an authority of the people and by the people steps in and protects money rights as an unalienable right, like freedom of speech.

The technical solution and legislation complement each other. We need both.
49  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: AI-generated fake IDs claimed to pass crypto exchange KYC are selling for $15 on: February 07, 2024, 05:03:37 PM
Shockingly it is just $15 to get a fake AI generated driver licenses and passports. It has been reportedly succeeded KYC verification on many crypto exchanges.

Yes, actually things like this have happened many times before, and if you have editing skills then you can use someone else's identity and put your face on that identity and do KYC.

I also think that platforms are actually not that serious about taking care of kyc and they do it because regulations require it, if there were no such regulations I'm sure many platforms would not want to collect kyc because it only adds work but doesn't generate any profits.

Using someone else's real identity without their permission is a felony in many countries, whereas a FAKE ID that is not a real person's information or likeness is usually not a felony, just a misdemeanor.

In short, AI-generated ID's will be extremely popular in the criminal underworld. We should expect an explosion of crime using such methods, and an ensuing crackdown by central authorities.

I expect this technology to drive legislation for secure global digital identity, possibly blockchain-based.
50  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Bitcoin Privacy Protocols on: February 07, 2024, 04:51:22 PM
With Binance delisting of XMR, there seems to be a growing trend that coins with privacy protocols are increasingly becoming a target of governments.

Is there any evidence that Satoshi Nakamoto deliberately avoided adding privacy-related protocols and functionality into Bitcoin in order to avoid the ban-hammer?

If so, how did he justify this decision when the very concept of sound money cannot be implemented in an environment where there is no guarantee of absolute transaction privacy?
51  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Huge Russian mining center in Ethiopia on: February 07, 2024, 04:41:44 PM
I believe the main reason companies are setting up mining operations in 3rd-world nations is because of the buying power of their currency compared to the host nation's weak currency.

Its probably true that electricity costs more to produce in Ethiopia than in Russia, but the relative state of their economies and currencies must be make enough of a difference that it is more profitable to setup a mining operations there.

56  Economy / Services / Re: Exodus Add-On for Privacy Lovers on: February 02, 2024, 12:29:11 AM
I love privacy and freedom-related projects, like bitcoin, for example. However, any project that is closed-source has well-deserved trust problem.

A highly-visible company with shareholders to answer to can get away with closed source stuff. But small projects cannot afford to close off their codebase if they want user growth.
