41  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Advice on Raspberry pi hardware for running full BTC node on: December 17, 2019, 09:22:55 PM
trying to run a full node on a rasp pi is basically an exercise in futility.

Just buy a used pc like this

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Lenovo-M83-Tiny-PC-computer-i5-4590t-8gb-memory-tested-and-working-10E9000UUS/333436439862?

buy a ssd and run a node in linux.

better yet get this one

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Lenovo-Thinkcentre-M72e-Tiny-Dual-core-i3-3220T-Win7-Linux-12GB-Memory/123997550116?

ask for it in linux os
ask for 500gb hdd
ask for 8gb ram

only 99 dollars
far better then any rasp pi
42  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Will hit 5500 ? on: December 16, 2019, 09:03:43 PM
Would be interesting to see that happen. I suspect the floor to be 4000
as worst.

If I have 100 th in the form of 2 s17 pro miners they earn

100 x 0.00001921 = 0.001921 btc a day or   $7.684  if coins are 4000 usd

So they use 5kwatts  an hour or 120 kwatts a day

at 5 cent power  they cost six dollars to

so you clear $1.684 a day with 5 cent power and 4,000 usd coin price

at 6 cent power they cost 7.20 to run and they would only make a 48

cent profit.

So we could drop to 4k price in coin based on the s17 pro's earning price.

I do not see  your 5500 guess out of line.

Here are Side by side logs working unit and bad unit.  This has the same -40 issue as I did on my bad 1041. but this psu reads 12.80 volts and the 'good' psu reads 12.76 volts so this is very likely not a psu issue.

46  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: MicroBT announced M30s on: December 07, 2019, 02:26:08 AM
video shows 3359 watts an 88500 hash pretty impressive.

But I am not a fan of one cable for 3350 watts
47  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How to wire your s17's and t17's diy on: December 04, 2019, 01:29:52 AM
we stay in a 217-227 power range  98% of the time.  Our problem is very likely being caused  by verizon's back up service for wall street stock exchange.

They run 2 tests of the emergency back up for all of wall street  they do these 15 minute tests 2x a month.  We drop down to 190 volts 2x a month for under 15 minutes.
We are in a very large industrial area. with a lot of high draw companies.
The ware house has a 10000 square foot freezer yep fucking huge  it is set to -20 f. It has the same issue 2x a month. when verizon tests backup for wall street.

We are thinking that we shut the freezer down for 20 minutes 2x a month when the issue occurs. We will work on this.

We have 3 phase power and we label all circuits   A+B  or A+C or B+C  this balances load.

Warehouse owner may 2x the space and add a new transformer.

A year from today we could have 400kwatts to manage vs the 180 we have now.
48  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Special thread concerning bitmains coupons refunds discounts. on: December 03, 2019, 05:45:02 PM
I ordered a debit card from transferwise.com   it should arrive in 3-5 days

in theory it should allow me to send usd to bitmain.

there was kyc my NJ drivers license.

I paid $ 20.76 to get the card  it will come with $20.00 on it.

Worst case is a loss of 20.76  and a compromised cc along with kyc of driver's license.

That is a pretty bad worst case. so I suggest no one rushes to do it.

If it comes with the money and it works.

It will allow me to send wired usd to bitmain.

since I have a credit of 1139 and can use a coupon for 10%

I could order the s17pro for  1520 - 140 =1380-1139 = 241  at 241 It is a good item to get.

If this works I will work at buysolar's account next and the warehouse owner after that.

we may get 3 s17 pros for under 1000 net.

just got back to main account

yeah I cant seem to get my threadripper do well on randomx.
Some early 1st gen Ryzen/TRs crash on RandomX, it's a known hardware bug. You need to disable Opcache in BIOS.

I manged to get it up to 5100  which is less then other but still better then the 1100 it was at.

it may be the ram which is 4 sticks of 16gb 2400 timings are 17 17 17 17   I will play with them.
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: December 03, 2019, 01:45:05 AM
Other subject, just got a RX5700 reference model for fun and its actually quite decent.  I paid 390$ cad and it came with Borderlands 3 which I wanted anyway, after minimal tweaking gets 56mhs and it can go higher but I had a crash or two so I dialed it back.  Its using about 110-115watts core on gpuz so probably 150-160w total.  I'd have to get time to test some memory straps but quick tweaking seems to work injecting them with Eliovp's amdtweakerxl.  I wonder if anyone got it above 60.
edit: Also I find it fun that since bitcointalk is indexed on google or something, I can search "9th bitcointalk" and b00m it pops up

I don't have access to my main account (philipma1957)
still tossed you some merits with my wife's account

Main reason I am posting is:
I have been trying to run some randomX with my threadripper 1920x and it is fucking with my head  I suspect I need a bios tweak.

is anyone running a threadripper on randomx?

please let me know  tia. Phil

NiceHash miner uses two different CPU miners.
XmrStak
XMRig

XMRig
To limit threads when mining with XMRig you have to follow these steps:
Open Benchmark tab
Select your CPU device and XMRig
Look for Extra Launch Parameters text-box and write --threads=N where N is a number of threads you want to use. Example to use 8 threads: --threads=8
...

any using nice hash and limiting threads?
52  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Can a big dump render Bitcoin unusable because of the mining difficulty? on: November 29, 2019, 07:29:41 PM
I for one would love to find out just how much gear is in China mining.  Has to be over 33% of the network.

I some USA and some Canada mines that add to over 15% of the network. So I guess more then 33% maybe as much as 66% of the hash is in China.
53  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin prices are dropping too much... on: November 27, 2019, 12:34:36 AM
Bitcoin prices are dropping too much...
Is there a possibility of a rise in the future?
If you say yes, when will the trend turn around?
And how much will Bitcoin prices go up on end of this year?

They need to go to 5500 and stay there until January.  That should put a good hurt on a lot of miiners.

I am looking froward to see this drop.
54  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Special thread concerning bitmains coupons refunds discounts. on: November 22, 2019, 08:28:10 PM
So gear arrived.

Testing the t17e  it is doing 54-55th on the gui

Some good news it was taxed at 51 usd shipped out of Malaysia

Tested second one 54-55 th

So they do 2-4th extra  or in my case  108-110  vs 106  as mine were listed to be 53th

No trump tax Just the 2.6% due to malaysia build listed.

Still 9 days late  and price  listed was 2704 vs  3569

I will need to try to get some compensation for this gear.

I am due 114 for the s9k and they did promise to send refund.  We will see how this one goes.
I have a meter and will post the watts for these

3356 watts for the t17e = 3356/55 or 61 watts a th  these are a bit power hungry also loud.
Still 110th added to the farm

the s17 pro  also tested on low speed  1634 watts 43 th  38 watts a th  so

4 s17 pro on low  speed do 172th and 6528 watts
2 17e  only one speed    do 110th and 6712 watts

s17 pro on low are nice and quiet

I bolded the prices which are
$ 798.91
$ 684.91

This is 114 usd in btc   now when I paid  BTC  was 11897  and BTC is Now 8633.    So I am not sure how they will refund my BTC  the important thing is that they are consistent with us all.

if I get 114/11897 = 0.0095822 btc or if I get 114/8633 = 0.013205 btc is not very important to me.  But that they apply this consistently does matter.

This is one of my orders due a refund it has shipoped and has been delivered so my refund is due now.

I urge anyone that place an order From july on to look at it and determine if they are due a refund or a coupon. If you do not know then ask here.

I went back and checked all orders in 2019

a feb order 0 issues
a july order 0 issues
the august 8 delivered on sept 20 is the one above and I am due $114 in btc
the oct order for a s17 I got a coupon I am squared away
the oct order for a s17 pro I got a coupon I am squared away

the nov order for a s17 pro not sure if I will get a future coupon they did drop price from 1999 to 1599 within 10 day period I may get a coupon.

The orders above have all been shipped.
the order below are not shipped
the nov order for a s17 pro made today not sure if I will get a coupon  due to ship in under 7 days
the oct order for t17+ ships in dec not sure of coupons or refunds.
the oct order for a t17 ships in dec not sure of coupons or refunds

the sept order for 2 t17e's I am due a paypal refund of 864   this gear should be here in NJ it is yet to ship I suspect they are not interested in shipping it asap as it is due a refund to paypal of 864.

So as you can see o  rders for 10 pieces of gear are causing  me a lot of paper work.

It looks like 114+ 865 = 979 in refunds are at stake and a 400 dollar coupon for the s17 pro that arrives today.
along with 2 possible coupons for the december gear.
