42  Local / Deutsch (German) / Re: Zertifizierungsanbieter zwecks sichere Verbindung zw. private key und Partei on: January 28, 2018, 09:24:09 PM

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178608.0

45  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) on: January 28, 2018, 09:13:18 PM
Hello! My forum rank hasn't changed to Jr Member, but I already have 40+ posts and two 14-days periods have passed. Can anyone help me with this? Thanx in advance.

two 14 day periods equal 2*14 activity, but you need 30 for Jr. In other words, you have to wait another 14 day period.
46  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Protection against armed robbery of Bitcoin on: January 28, 2018, 09:07:41 PM
A gang of four armed raiders held up an English Bitcoin trader at gunpoint. He was forced to transfer a large sum in Bitcoin. I believe this is the first such event in England, but not the first in the world.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5322171/Pictured-barn-raiders-committed-bitcoin-robbery.html

How can we protect ourselves against this? Some thoughts occur to me.

Transfer the coins into a timelocked wallet controlled by me. But would that provoke a physical resction from the raiders.
Time lock the transfer into their requested wallet.
If the stolen coins are run through a mixer, could I sue the mixer because he was profiting from the proceeds of crime.

Has anybody got any other ideas?

I have no idea what legal consequences this could result in for a mixer, but generally speaking the best way to defend against this is to not be known to have a large amount of coins. Either that or take appropriate steps to secure your house. A barn does not sound very secure and for someone holding 800k I would at least expect walls, gates and CCTV or in other words physical protection that can not be merely kicked in. Additionally if its for long term storage to require a second signature would make sense, e.g. by keys held on a different device in a different location. This might secure the coins, but not necessarily your life. Depending on the level of knowledge the robbery have of bitcoin, they might not grasp the concept and assume you try to bullshit your way out of the situation. Im also not entirely sure to whom the baby belonged. Did they hold it hostage or they come with their family? They might be willing to take you with them for some time to wait off a time lock.

Was meinst du mit developer?

Offensichtlicher SCAM,
also Finger weg!

54  Local / Anfänger und Hilfe / Re: forkgen / Hard Fork / Technische Umsetzung on: January 28, 2018, 01:23:54 PM
Hallo,

Arwed

Invalid according to electrum, make sure its absolutily clear what the message is. Invisible characters are also important. E.g. in your case, are the two line breaks part of the message? (I tried with both, with only one and without, they all failed). I would also suggest putting your name and the current date in the message.
58  Local / Deutsch (German) / Re: Einzahlmethode ICOs on: January 28, 2018, 10:04:49 AM
Hallo,

59  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Lightning Questions on: January 28, 2018, 09:48:26 AM
I consider joining in and be #reckless. I have some design questions though. Under the premise that I mostly dont want to spend funds and want to help process transactions and establish cheap path's along the network. Currently the topology[1] looks to me like there are a couple main hubs and everyone else just attaches to them.
#1 (how connect?) What would be a good approach to establish alternative paths? Connect to all bigger hubs, e.g. all with x+ connections? Or rather establish a connection between other nodes within the network that are not already connected via a single hop?
#2 (resource requirements?) What (additional) resources are required? Has anyone data on this? I consider upgrading my server anyway, so this would be a good switching point.
#3 (minimal funds/channel?) The current total capacity is only(?) ~3.68 BTC (again according to[1]), what would be - in your opinion - a good amount to put aside per channel? As much as possible obviously, but at which point does it become too little? Considering I plan to invest X amount of BTC this "minimal amount" would limit the number of channel I could reasonably keep open.
#4 (is much work?) How much maintainance is needed? Funds would move between channels, but the main flow may be in a certain direction along the path. Because people just buy stickers instead of sending funds back and forth. Has anyone any experience with this yet?

Thanks in advance.

[1] thanks for the awesome graph here https://lnmainnet.gaben.win/ btw

7 months ago you said you were quitting the forum.[1] Roll Eyes

The burden of proof is not on me.
Nope. It is exactly on you. If my account were to look suspicious, I'd get tagged and others would ask me to provide proof of ownership.

Just minutes after I made a free comment on this post
Maybe, when you are guilty, you should avoid drawing attention to yourself. A lot of people got caught this way.

[1] Quickseller story 2.0.

I am not guilty of anything. The burden of proof is always on the party who made the accusation. It is also a common sense.
-snip-

It is, but not here and not in this case. My issues with Lauda also do not apply here, so asking for my assistence does not give you any bonus points just because they and I had a difficult history.

An account can be sold without leaving any publicly available data, thus proving an account has actually been sold is not possible. On the other hand it is easily possible to proof you are still the same person by proving a signed message. Either using your PGP key, should you have made one public, or using a bitcoin adress via which you have received funds in the past. Sometimes neither is possible, but this is only in the hands of the account owner. I tried my best in the past to make signing message as easily accessible to as many people as possible and other members have tried to make sure people "stake" an address for these cases.

With all said above, it is - of course - still possible to sell a private PGP or bitcoin key. Thus a signed message is no solid proof either. It is hover (or was, I am a bit out of touch) considered unlikely considering they keys are often used for other reasons as well.

tl;dr: I cant help you here, nor anyway else with similar issues. People will - out of spit or other reasons - dig into your history and try to find something they can use against you.
