hi, im MCWey8

Im here for the experience Tongue

Feel free to toss me some coin Smiley
42  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: The Most Efficient Rig on: June 13, 2011, 07:00:28 PM
4 x 5770 - 932 MH/s - $400.00 - 400w = WIN Tongue

and the mining hardware comparison shows the 5770 at about 100w .. not 213w
43  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Yeah, WINE/ubuntu issue on: June 13, 2011, 08:01:31 AM
dont use WINE ...

download the native Linux version.

extract it where ever you want it

usually /home/username/bitcoin-0.3.22

then open a terminal and get to the bitcoin directory

ex.
cd bitcoin-0.3.22

then start bitcoin
ex.
bin/64/bitcoin
or
bin/32/bitcoin

wait a little, bitcoin gui will start .. close it, make your bitcoin.conf ... start it again, have fun

for your wallet ...

check in
/home/username/.wine/dosdevices/c:/users/username/Application Data/bitcoin

I am CPU mining at the moment, out of pure enjoyment.

waiting on a ATI HD 5770 (Budget card for broke miners, lol) - will get 156-233 MH/s

but right now stuck with CPUs from 2 computers, giving me .. wait for it ..... 7 MH/s !!!!!!
45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [announce] Namecoin - a distributed naming system based on Bitcoin on: June 12, 2011, 10:32:57 PM
weird:

using your bitcoin.conf (except replacing user and pass) I can not even get namecoind to start.

I have to have the

daemon=1

and the daemon thing is part of setup of bitcoin.conf from this link

http://dot-bit.org/InstallAndConfigureNamecoin

but even with that .. still getting "Couldn't connect to server"

i ping'd the computers from each other and they are both reachable with 0% loss ... im really at a loss ... confused lol

still working fine locally
Code:
./bm -a 5 -o http://127.0.0.1:9332 -u [edit] -p [edit]

Did you add 'server=1' in bitcoin.conf ?

I did not. so I added that, still same Sad

should i remove daemon=1 ?
this is the complete bitcoin.conf
Code:
rpcuser=[edit]
rpcpassword=[edit]
rpcport=8336
rpcallowip=192.168.0.2
rpcallowip=192.168.0.3
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
daemon=1
server=1
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [announce] Namecoin - a distributed naming system based on Bitcoin on: June 12, 2011, 09:10:37 PM
In your config file, add :
rpcallowip=<ip_of_your_remote_computer>

(you can add this option several times)

Still having issues, so I thought maybe i should give more info Smiley

Server is running on Linux Mint 10 64 bit
Client is running Ubuntu Linux 10.10 64 bit

So I added
Code:
rpcallowip=192.168.0.2
rpcallowip=192.168.0.3
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
into the /.namecoin/bitcoin.conf, because the server is 192.168.0.3 on the network, the client im trying to connect is on 192.168.0.2.

On the server locally i am able to start Ufasoft v0.10 and mine namecoins with:
Code:
./bm -a 5 -o http://127.0.0.1:8336 -u [edit] -p [edit]

but on the client (192.168.0.2), which i also added the 3 rpcallowip in its /.namecoin/bitcoin.conf
always returns
Code:
./bm -a 5 -o http://192.168.0.3:8336 -u [edit] -p [edit]
bitcoin-miner 0.10  Copyright (c) 2011 Ufasoft  http://ufasoft.com/open/bitcoin
Mining for http://192.168.0.3:8336
1 threads Using SSE2
Couldn't connect to server
0 MHash/s     Couldn't connect to server

just like before adding the rpcallowip lines into the .conf. I have allowed ALL PORTS incoming and outgoing on the server just for testing and still getting the same result. The machine (192.168.0.3) is also running Apache Web Server .. and is reachable.

Any ideas namecoin miners ??
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [announce] Namecoin - a distributed naming system based on Bitcoin on: June 12, 2011, 10:29:28 AM
I am having a issue with namecoid,

I am able to connect localhost with Ufasoft miner with -o http://127.0.0.1:8336 .. but if i try to connect to another computer on the network http://192.168.0.3:8336 it is unable to connect.. firewall is not blocking the port

I would just like to know if anyone else has had this issue.

since im CPU mining, solo mining (well single computer solo) is out for me already - 3767.78158122 difficulty Sad

52  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: What's up with all the DDoS? on: June 10, 2011, 10:02:26 PM
When slush's front end goes down, but mining still works (which happens quite often), his hash rate is represented on the pie chart as other.

53  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Deepbit down? More DDoS? on: June 10, 2011, 09:47:21 PM
You should do some research on how those pie charts work.

.49% to 40% in 48 hours .. what research do you want me to do ...

There is more power going to "Other" be it solo mining or a non tracked pool ..

I came to no conclusions and ended with "Wtf", a question .

"Other" is rising .. 40% of power ... wtf

58  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Is mining still profitable? on: June 10, 2011, 08:18:18 PM
the specs make it seem as MORE than a mining rig .. a rig wouldn't need all those bells and whistles (1 TB HDD, 60 GB SDD, DVD BURNER, 8 GB RAM) .. cut the fat, make a profit

the graphics card: ATI RADEON 6970 can get 323-423 MH/s

if we calculate at 323

that is a estimate of ฿17.41 per month at current difficulty.

estimate of ฿13.29 per month at the next tier difficulty.

if the price of the bitcoin stay stable and you are about to achieve 98% uptime (mining time) then it is a estimate of USD $417.00 a month .. but the actual transaction of Bitcoin to Currency being a changing market the actual amount could(would) change ... the bitcoins you will generate are for sure.

p.s.: also any time NOT MINING will lower how many coins you are getting
59  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining profit on: June 10, 2011, 02:24:18 AM
I have read a lot and i feel it comes down to this,

mining is a hobby, it could be a loss, it could be a gain...

but you should only join to support Bitcoin not to make profit (since your probably wont), the people who have made big profits have been mining for AWHILE, have given back with charts of MH/s rates (lots of testing) , started a couple pools and spent a whole bunch of investment into hardware and electricity.

While it is VERY possible that you could come out ahead at the end of the summer, there are NO GUARANTEES and not even a percentage of success is available due to how fast Bitcoin price can change.
60  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Anyone want to predict the next cards to go out of stock? on: June 09, 2011, 07:05:56 AM
ATI 5770 - can get about 233 MH/s - you can find them for $100.00 or under - they use 100 watts at full

Quote
Radeon 5770 offers the best low cost investment option for bitcoin mining. It comes cheap, delivers a punch and isn’t really power hungry – at a little over 100 watts at full load, PSU upgrade is not needed even if you are using cheaper power supply unit

source - http://www.smpake.com/?p=59

Oh, and i just bought one, for $94.49 - that is with shipping Cheesy

Some stats: if you buy 4 at $100 = $400 .. your 800 MH/s can bring in ฿43.11    ($1,273.17) per month
with NEXT WEEK increased difficulty .. that is still - ฿33.95 ($1,002.49) per month ....

wish i had some money for some more Sad donations please .. of course i will give you kickbacks later Cheesy
