41  Bitcoin / Pools / Any good straight PPS pools out there? on: June 30, 2014, 01:12:04 AM
So I've been looking for a good, straight PPS BTC pool to mine at. But so far, all the ones I've found that seem to advertise PPS have since changed to PPLNS or some other variant of the PPS system or they've offlined all together. Anybody know of any straight PPS pools out there? Preferably with a fee of less than %5...
42  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitcoin vs bitcoin (low difficulty) on: June 30, 2014, 12:52:05 AM
I used to mine on multipool and the difference is in the shares received.  What happens is that when they mine BTC, they don't have enough hash rate to solve blocks.  As a result, they act as a proxy between you and another pool.  Originally they mined BTC on P2Pool, but due to variance they have changed.  I know they have mined at both eligius and ghash.io too.  Now because they are a proxy, they submit your shares as their own.  So as a result, the pool they mine BTC on gives them higher difficulty shares, because they submit each server as one worker I believe, than you'd receive if you mined with the pool your being proxied to directly.  The low difficulty pool is for those that have a lower hash rate so that they aren't trying to solve high difficulty shares.  I hope this helps answer your question.

BTW, I know this information is available at least in their thread, if not their website too. You might just have to look for it.

I actually noticed about a week ago that they were mining on Bitminter.
43  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is it still worth it to get something like an AntMiner S1? on: June 29, 2014, 08:38:31 PM
I'd say it's worth it. It will most definitely increase your revenue over what you're pulling in now. I've got one running right now that's pulling in a little under $5 USD/day mining BTC. If you can find one for $200, you should be good. But I wouldn't spend more than that on one at this point.

45  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitaddress.org on: June 27, 2014, 02:28:26 AM
just save yourself the trouble and create a paper cold wallet. you can do it easily through blockchain.info. as long as you don't lose the piece of paper with your public/private keys printed on it, your coins will be safe. no corrupted data to worry about... ever.
46  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do I know my BTC was received by the other person? on: June 21, 2014, 07:06:19 AM
One thing nobody mentioned about blockchain.info is that you can see whether an input has been spent yet or not. Just scroll down to the bottom of the page and find the "Advanced: Enable/Disable" button. With advanced options enabled, each entry has a note saying whether or not a given input has been spent. Comes in really handy sometimes.
47  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Selling within the Rules of PayPal on: June 21, 2014, 06:46:08 AM
Yeah Paypal just has too many holes to try and fill to make BTC work.

I'm tempted to get people to buy things from amazon for me in exchange for BTC, Once the goods are at mine next day they get their BTC.

It would be simpler to just buy amazon gift codes directly from gyft.com using your btc. then you could buy whatever it is on your own without a middleman.

I am Satoshi Nakamoto. Tongue
54  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: satoshi is either dead or in prison on: June 14, 2014, 08:33:49 AM
There's really only one thing I can think of as to why his coins haven't moved. He's saving them to give to his family as an inheritance. Plain and simple. He knows that bitcoin is still in its infancy and that selling them now would be a mistake as the technology (and the price) hasn't fully matured yet. Selling off now would mean leaving possibly billions of dollars on the table, which he obviously doesn't want to do.
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why when bitcoins rises the altcoins falls? on: June 14, 2014, 08:23:56 AM
it's simple really. people mine alts because the difficulties are much lower than that of btc. then, when btc rises, they sell off their alts to convert to btc which causes the price of the alt to drop (because of the selloff) and in turn causes btc to rise even more because people are buying it instead of selling.

I'll start...

Q: What kind of car will you never see a bitcoiner driving?
A: A Fiat

Q: What's the difference between a blind man using a map and a truckload of BFL Jalapeños?
A: The blind man has a chance of finding a block.

Q: Why did the hipster Bitcoin miner burn out his GPU.
A: He was mining before it was cool.

Knock Knock! Who's there? Satoshi Nakamoto. Satoshi nakamoto who? You will never know.

Chuck Norris mined all Bitcoins, twice.

Chuck Norris gets 600 GH/s... with an abacus.

When Chuck Norris needs money he mines a block using his brain's hashing power.

Q: Why did the Bitcoiner fail his astronomy test?
A: He estimated the Earth's orbit at about two weeks.

A man walks into a butcher’s shop and asks the butcher: “Are you a gambling man?” The butcher says “Yes”, so the man said: “I bet you ฿10 that you can’t reach up and touch that Beef hanging on the hooks up there.” The butcher says “I’m not betting on that.” “But I thought you were a gambling man” the man retorts. “Yes I am” says the butcher “but the steaks are too high.”
58  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help me build a Rig :) What should i buy ? on: June 13, 2014, 01:23:07 AM
Buy yourself 5 Bitmain Antminer S2 units. That will get you to your 5Th/s mark. They have the lowest power consumption needs (approx 1.1 watts/Gh/s) and they're basically plug and play. Each unit currently costs 3.881 BTC from Bitmaintech.com. Total cost minus any shipping for 5 units would be around $11,300 USD
59  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coingoo.com Anybody heard of these guys? on: June 12, 2014, 08:29:59 AM
They're selling all sorts of coins for relatively cheap prices. Seems suspicious to me. Does anybody have any experience with them?

Well... if anything... they do take major credit cards and paypal. so you've at least got some buyer protection there if they don't deliver. I also checked the better business bureau and ripoffreport.com for anything pertaining to them. nothing came up. A basic google search brings up about 6,000 results. Not sure if all are relevant, but it looks like they have a decent presence on the interwebz. A whois lookup turns up a bit of a discrepancy, though. The registrant and admin info seem a bit... off. They put their address as being in New York. But they listed China as the country where they're located. A lookup of the country code (+86) they gave with their phone/fax numbers backs that up. Also, the exact address they gave doesn't exist in New York City, where they claim to be located. Based on the whois alone, I would say it seems a bit fishy.

My advice would be... if you do decide to try buying something from them, be cautious and only purchase small amounts at a time. If you choose to use a credit card, go buy yourself a prepaid card and only put however much you intend to spend on it. That way you won't get screwed if they decide to go rogue and dip into their customer cc database.

Good luck. And if you do make a purchase through them, post a report here on the forum.
60  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: My CEX.IO account hacked and wiped clean. Please help on: June 03, 2014, 05:23:46 AM
I'm amazed anyone still purchases CEX.IO hashing, there are sooo many massively better deals out there, CEX runs at about 0.07 for 1GHS whilst the PETA project is now running at 0.074 for 15GHS!!! Which is about the best I can find at the moment. https://www.havelockinvestments.com/order.php?symbol=PETA

0.07 for... *cough*... 1 GHS? Where are you getting your numbers from? 7 months ago? GHS is currently running at ~0.007. BTW... Havelock? Isn't that a ponzi scheme?
