41  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 24, 2014, 06:44:25 PM
I placed an order for 2X Batch 4 S3s and paid in full... and my order does not show as receiving payment though the tx has confirmed many times and I have checked the address I sent it to and it is the same as in the email.

I have emailed and messaged them about this and no response.

PLEASE RESPOND I DO NOT WANT TO LOSE MY ORDER!
This often happens, it gets sorted out eventually.

I hope so... I could have ordered from Zoomhash but it is $570 a pop + shipping so... I am hoping I didn't just lose 1.3 BTC ordering direct.

When I ordered my Batch 1 S3's, it took a little while for the whole transaction to process.  It'll all hash out in the end ...  Cheesy

Juan,

When will you guys be providing shipping information for your Batch 1 orders? I just got off the phone with UPS and they advise that I have no incoming packages but that they would prefer to have a tracking number to verify that information.

Thank you.

I'm batch 1 and received an email last nite from UPS about my order ... cant wait to test em out!

was thinking about an alternative to the KnC "box" design ...

Here's a simple open design, having the boards sitting above the base more than they are now, as well have the base itself raised off what ever its put on with venting underneath ...

suggestions ...? Roll Eyes

Like the S1, adoption should happen quickly and Bitmain ships in quantities instead of long pre-orders that never ship like BFL, KnC and others.

Bitmain just sank KnC ...

Serial cable problem solved; made some double length ones.

I swapped out two of the ridiculously short KfC cables and the whole cable layout is much more comfortable now. I have the parts to make another dozen if anybody needs them in the UK.

*snip*

very nice ... I've got the same thing going for my Jupiters (waiting for the Neptunes) likewise have the materials for more, here in the US ...

but your's have better "cool" factor due to their color ... mine are the stock grey/blue stripe  Wink

I haven't been able to access kncminer.com (my account) for over a month now ... I contacted support@kncminer on July 3rd and still no resolve.  I'm going to call them tomorrow.

Those damned data ribbons are ridiculously short, which makes a mess, but here they are.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_T2mziEZ42U 1.0 firmware flashed onto it around 1am last night.  The PSU's were an issue. /some of the ax1200's work, and some don't.... I have no idea why. With 2 cubes on a 1200, some dies didn't fire no matter what voltage tweaking I did. As soon as I replaced the psu's corresponding to the defunkt asics, everything perked right up. They are both @ 100% "stock" settings. They run about 3.4th/s a piece average. High temps. Barely had enough time being my stay was 24 hours(on me b-day)and of course family was showing their love by throwing a mini party, which was a total distraction to the task at hand; but at least we got to visit a bit, and the "Job is done"... hopefully it doesn't catch fire...   Wink
PS The cubes with a single cx600 seem to run the best, but there wasn't time enough to "solidify" that observation.

so, right at .01BTC /day each.  Hopefully the diffstall holds.

Thanks for posting a "live" look at a functioning Neptune!  I'd be interested in seeing your solar array too!

Hope they play nice, and stay hashing w/o any hiccups ...

So, Im guessing the habanero project is pretty much done at this point? No more batches? No more software dev?

it's starting to appear that way ...

just curious, any reason to use 90o fittings versus straight in fittings to the waterblock?

trivial reasons, not needed.

Can stack PCBs 1 per 80-100mm

I stacked with straight barbs but not as dense as possible.
https://i.imgur.com/xoHsaiJ.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/GXvNz3g.jpg

With 90's I could stack the Hoopiter on the left and the Nep on the right, remote the radiator and replace with single large fan.
Not that I would. but I want it to be just big enough eventually. whatever I end up with for an ASIC case.

YMMV
Smiley

EDIT My hoopiter configuration has a potential flaw if I get a big air bubble in inverted waterblocks while running flat.
Designed for sitting on it side though. (that density thing again)

ahhh ... I now see what you mean.  Yes, chemistry and physics can be a bitch ...  Cheesy

52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: July 04, 2014, 06:52:25 PM
A slight misfortune has visited tolips secret watercooling lair.

First WB install went almost perfect.
Slight problem with ASIC temp. Not bad just no improvement.
Turns out there is sand in the vaselene that came with waterblocks.
Was prepared with other grease anyways.
I had hoped stock grease was adequate for testing, guess not.
So far trivial expected issues.

Move on to second waterblock install and lady luck exits left stage.
One of the 90's I attached to the waterblock FAILED.
It did not seperate completely, I would have had water everywhere.
(yes I was working on it with loop running and other ASICs hashing away)
I have so much flow I have to run only one pump out of two else air bubbles do not collect in resivour.
Woulda been like turning on a garden hose if it had seperated completely.

After I replaced the failed part my PCB only indicated 5 VRMs.
If you ever had a hard disk failure on a PC you may know how I was feeling at the time.
I did not panic, just got out the vacuume and PC crevace tool.
It took a few tries to get the VRMs to go again.
I also let the working VRM's help boil away the water.

All is well now and I'll (much more carefully) install the other 3 today sometime.

Come monday it's time to throw more money at it and get better 90's for all the waterblocks.
I'll also try and extract a pound of flesh from vendor for selling such shit.

Second time I had an issue with 90's from this vendor.
First issue was restricted flow in otherwise bulletproof  cool lookin 90's.
With the leak I am done playing nice, the shit is too fragile for the application.

What's interesting about this adventure is that it is same PCB that challenged me installing 12AWG power wires onto.
I ended up bypassing the PCB 12V copper and running wires directly to each VRM.
The good news is that it was not my mods failed only a temorary shit new part/rain delay.

All in all, for me, it's fun to visit the bleeding edge.

YMMV
Smiley

53  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: July 03, 2014, 06:36:09 PM

wow... how much you earn / month will all that? how much are each of those neptunes and hashing power?

edit: I googled and i think each of those neptunes is 3TH/s ?WOW

5 of the Neptune boxes is 3TH
Seriously? You mean each box is only 200 Gh/s?  Like an S1?

No.  Each Neptune box runs between 600-700GH/s.

According to this article:

http://cryptomining-blog.com/2795-kncminer-is-ready-to-start-shipping-the-3-ths-bitcoin-neptune-asic-miners/

each neptune = 3TH/s

exactly ...

" Each Neptune miner will consist of 5 ASIC chips and comes in new sturdier enclosure and packaging and should be capable of 3 THS or even more while consuming about 2.1 KW of power at the wall. That results out to just about 0.7 watts of power used per GHS, so really god power efficiency and KnC does promise to possibly further increase the performance of the device with software updates."

we'll see about their (KnC's) predictions ... that is w/o doing something awesome (and costly) as data-tank cooling.

Anyone know of any online cable management classes? Smiley

Sorry but what coins can you mine with those? I just used S1 and now i bought S3, didnt know about these neptunes but i suppose they are so expensive xD

to me it looks like (10) ten Neptunes, which at min. equals 3 Th/s per Neptune.

Therefore, roughly 30 Th/s worth of Neptunes (minimum) ...

Just received the following mail by KNC.
What happens if I click on the link ? My second miner is automatically converted to the "Hash while you wait" offer or I end up on a page where I can chose ?

Quote
Dear Michel Dupont,

As you are a Neptune customer, you are entitled to take up our Plan B offer to “Hash While You Wait” until your miner ships, or to continue waiting for your order and select either a Neptune or Titan miner as your additional 2-for-1 offer miner(s) free of charge.

To activate your account please click the following URL/Link https://convert.kncminer.com/xxx where you can choose your option and setup your KnCCloud account.

Your hashing will begin shortly after you have setup your account, provided you’ve made that choice on the Neptune Order Options.

To ensure you receive all the power you've paid for, please ensure that your account is up to date with your wallet address to receive your Plan B mined Bitcoins.

Hashing will stop as soon as your unit ships out from our factory.

If you have any questions please contact: info@kncminer.com

Thanks
KnC Miner Team

If you want to keep your second miner don't switch to "Hash while you wait"
That's why it's unclear to me.

I received the same email today ... too funny, the symantec's they use!

Interesting. It should show up as M2. I have a board where it doesn't show up at all in zadig.

That is what it is showing in Windows device manager as well. I am running windows 7 on my mac laptop

so, in device manager, it shows up as an unknown device as well?
hmm ...

Alright, I have finished a process for making a heavy duty 2:1 PCIe adapter for Neptune owners.  It is made with 16AWG wires and minifit HCS (high current system) pins capable of 13A.  It is tricky to make with crimping two 16 gauge wires together but I soldered the pins to the wires after crimping for best contact.  I cannot guarantee that the nylon housings at the pcb won't melt so be sure there is some airflow there.

Here she is:

Pricing is $8 each with discounts for larger orders.  Shipping will be priority mail with tracking which is $6 for US and $24 for international.
Please PM if you are interested.  Thanks

Another solution (but a lot more DIY work):

if anyone is interested, I have plates that replace the mounting apparatus they used.  It will get the foam out of the way of the VRMs and allow more airflow over the PCB.

They'll come with the plates, screws, nuts and spacers for all 5 ASICs - .0675 BTC plus shipping (USPS Priority/Priority Express, your choice)
PM me ...
Ski

Sorry but they will not fit !.... you need an T-shape plate, and not an I-shape

true, it won't fit with the box on it.  You'd have to turn the Arctic radiator 90o and it will be mounted in the same fashion as the Jupiter.  It looks like everyone is doing their best to make it work.
Just sayin' ...

OK, I have a modified-DIY-box below 70 C and running on 500 Mhz:

How do I get above 500 Mhz ?
Contact KNC, maybe they'll tell you, or add an option in the next firmware.
Could you post pictures of your set-up ?

Edit : Would these 20mm spacers work ? How many do you need per box ?

if they have open holes in the corners of the board, I do believe they'll work - though you most likely have to take the "box" off to fasten from the other side of the PCB.

they do...and you wouldn't even need a screw holding them in...just screw them in from the bottom...i did on my boards and works fine Smiley course one in the middle wouldn't hurt too for support cause the heatsink is heavy and don't wanna warp the board

what size thread M5, M6?
60  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Habanero - 650GH/s - Batch 2 Shipping June 9th, $850 ($1.3/GH/s) on: June 28, 2014, 08:50:43 PM
I have a dual boot mac system (mac / windows) and I can't seem to get these boards to recognize due to a driver issue.

In windows I tried ZADIG but get a Driver Installation Failed: (resource already exists). So tried Mac, but can't seem to find any information on mac drivers or how to get them going.

Are there drivers for Mac for these board? Anyone know why Zadig is throwing that error (is it because im running windows on a mac??)

though I'm not running Windows on a Mac, I had a similar problem and couldn't figure out why Zadig wasn't working.  I went into device manager and was able to get it setup that way.

Hope it helps ... Ski
