41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [COINO] KGW ACTIVATED - WALLET UPDATE ▬► COINO -(O)- ◄▬ The fastest Coin on: May 01, 2014, 01:22:03 AM
Hi All

This is a TOTD (Tip Of The Day) Cheesy

After speaking with several people who are not that interested in Crypto, but are interested in the Coin(O) Web Wallet because of the games feature, it became obvious to me quite quickly that they don't really want the hassle of maintaining a wallet on their home computer and have to continuously download the block chain or make sure they keep an eye on the Coin(O) threads to ensure that they are running the correct wallet code etc.

They also didn't want to have to keep the wallet running and have to transfer funds from here to their Web Wallet etc. But they do want to keep their Web Wallets balance continuously topping up to play the games and don't seem to mind mining to do it.

Well, with the Coin(O) Web Wallet you DON'T NEED to download the Coino wallet clients any more. You DON'T NEED to make sure your wallet code is the correct version and you DON'T NEED to continuously download the block chain.

All you need is a miner and the correct settings for your CPU or GPU.

You then register for an account at one of the Coin(O) pools and setup a worker for your CPU/GPU, details for this can be found at each pool.
In your pool account you then setup an auto payout every 50 coins or so and use your Coin(O) Web Wallet Address for the payout Cheesy

Now all you need to do is make sure your miner is running when your machine is otherwise idle, and each time your pool account gets over the payout limit, the pool will send your coins directly to your Coin(O) Web Wallet, topping up your game credits for you.

If you have any issues setting up your miner for the first time you can either ask for help here in this thread, on IRC at http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=#coinocoin or on any of the pool specific IRC channels.

So don't forget, with the Coin(O) Web Wallet your client will never be out of sync again, you won't use up your bandwidth downloading the block chain and your game credits will keep on rolling in Cheesy

So, if you don't already have a Coin(O) Web Wallet you can get one right now from https://wallet.coinocoin.com and happy gaming...

Hi
coino great coin and fast.
but what are you going to take in response to the number growing script ASIC? Many coins will soon be bifurcated by surges in network complexity. Community coino has what or how to protect against it?
May be necessary to pass on the new and improved algorithm (X11 or Grøstl)?
This would give the coin a great advantage in the development of.

Once we get the new website launched and start to give Coin(O) a facelift, we will discuss alternative algos.
This does NOT mean we will definitely move away from Scrypt, what it does mean is that we will look at the pro's and con's of all available options and will will come to a conclusion based on fact not fear.

At this moment Coin(O) is in no danger from ASIC's and our community is still relatively small compared to other alt coin communities.

As we start to release updates and new features into the webwallet and the newly branded Coin(O) website etc and the community starts to grow, the Community driven Coin(O) should start to take on an identity of it's own away from the original.

At this moment we are very conscious of the fact that the current ANN thread and the original coino.org site and forum cause confusion for new members whom only read the original ANN and start to download the wrong versions of wallets etc.

There is little we can do about existing sites, threads and IRC channels that the current community team are not in control of. However, once our new look Coin(O) website comes on line we will have a point of focus to start aggressively moving towards a Community driven focus for Coin(O).

You will then start to see activity on new social media accounts and other advertising and marketing activity. Over time Google should start to rank our new sites above the existing ones and with any luck the existing sites will start to disappear as the domains or hosting costs are not being met.

We thought long and hard as a Community before stepping in to take over once it became obvious the original dev's had abandoned ship and we have been working VERY hard in the background to bring new and exciting features to Coin(O) including the unique features such as the ability to play games directly in the new webwallet.

All we can say is that we are dedicated to making Coin(O) a winner in the alt coin world and all the current members of the Community Team are working away to make that happen.

You can download the wallet binaries for Mac and Windows from http://www.coinocoin.com. There is also a link to the new GitHub Source should you wish to download and compile the sources yourself.
You can signup for a Coin(O) webwallet by visiting http://wallet.coinocoin.com, transfer some coins into your wallet and have some fun on the Coin(O)Slot. More games are coming soon.

If you would like to make a donation to the CommunityWallet then please do so by sending some Coin(O) to this address UWny7ri39ZxdBcTCvNE1tzuPDTD898WvWj

The Community Wallet is NOT for the benefit of the Community Team or any other individual. The Community Wallet is used to support Coin(O) for the community. For instance, ALL wins and loses on any game hosted in the Coin(O) wallet are transferred to and from this account. There is no individual or organization profiting from any loses you may have on the games, every Coin(O) goes to support the Community.

If you have suggestions for Coin(O) or would like support then either post here in this thread or come visit us in IRC at http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=#coinocoin well be glad to see you there even if you just want to say hi!

I seen you advertising with banner ads when you launched. Do you track those? Was it a good investment?  Have you thought about doing something like that again?

Hi.

The original Coin(O) dev's have not been seen since early March and none of the current dev's have seen, or have access to, any stats that may have been generated from the original banner campaign.

Coin(O) was taken over by the Community on April 1st 2014 and on April 7th released new code to address some issues.

At this moment we are working hard on other areas of the coin for the community. Once we are more settled as a team and have new systems in place we will again look at ways to promote Coin(O) outside of the community.

For other coming here and reading this for the first time, or after being away for a month or more, you can find the new Coin(O) wallets and source code by going to http://www.coinocoin.com

OK my fellow Coin(O)ers

The webwallet has been updated and is available from https://wallet.coinocoin.com
There are a couple of issues with layout on small devices like phones, especially in the transactions view, but I'll fix those later. It is however more than usable on a mobile phone.

The wallet now shows you network stats updated every 30 seconds. I need to make the balance auto update when you make a payment into your webwallet, but changing view or reloading the page will update it as well. So long as the minimum confirms (3) have occurred, this normally takes about 50 seconds.

The auto balance update will require a change to the Coinod code to enable the walletnotifty functionality. I'll do this during the week and send a pull request for the GiT so the official source is kept up to date.

If you already have a wallet you can continue to login with your existing email link and hash code. No need to request a new one.

The slot machine is now working in the games section (currently the only game) and it uses your webwallet balance to play. Each credit costs 1 Coin(O) and the maximum bet size is 3 credits.

All of your loses go to the Community Wallet Address and your winnings are paid from the same address. These transactions are implemented as internal wallet moves between accounts and thus will not show up on the Public Coino Block Chain.

After I fix the couple of outstanding issues, described above, I will need to make sure it can be run in a cluster and then we will add a Coin(O) block chain explorer for you along with some cool new games Cheesy

As the wallet.coinocoin.com site is served over SSL you may notice a slight delay after you press the play button, and if it fails to run at all, it is likely the wallet server is down.

We are also aware that if you withdraw your entire balance from your webwallet it will display your balance as 0.1 Coin(O). This is an issue I am working on at the moment as it relates to the 0.1 Coin(O) miners transaction fee on wallet withdrawals.

All in all the core wallet functionality has been up and working in the wild for over a week now and looks pretty stable. I can't promise this version won't go down but we will do our bet to keep it running.

If you find ANY other problems please let us know either here or on IRC at http://webchat.freenode.net channel #coinocoin or as a quote to this post and we will do our best to address them quickly.

So, as a member of the Coin(O) community you now officially have the Coolest webwallet of any Crypto Coin Cheesy

I bought coino when they first came out.. I notice the OP says to update the wallet. When was that announcement made? I wish people would put dates on the damn UPDATE announcements.

Anybody help? thanx

download new wallet and in C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Coino delete all ... only dont delete wallet.dat

Correct. Make sure you take a copy of your wallet.dat file first.

Also make sure you use the addnode as defined on the www.coinocoin.com website

After you have finished the installing and syncing the block chain, stop the wallet, copy your backed up  wallet.dat back to the correct location, restart wallet.

After the original dev's left, coino became a community coin on the 1st April 2014

New code and wallets were released on the 7th April 2014 to address an issue with daylight savings and fix a problem with KGW

So now what the hell is to be done about the apparent fork, and coins deposited with us that are now gone that we're running the "right" version?

Upgrade the wallet, same version number, different blockchain, about 200k coins disappear.

Any suggestions on how the hell to explain that?

If your on a fork then the coins are basically gone.

bgade contacted you to try to resolve this issue and asked that you send your few miners to him to see if we could help.

Your exchange seems to be the only exchange that is unable to sync to the correct block chain and from your previous posts it seemed obvious that your were running the incorrect version of the code.

Basically there is nothing more we can now do for you.

So who are the wonderful new Coino devs? Whats your backgrounds? Skills? Hobbies etc...

Tell us a bit about yourselves...

If you look back through my previous posts on this thread you can find links to my linkedin profile.
Also if you search for bgade you will also find details about Bill

As far as the rest of the team is concerned, there will be a Community Member page on the new website, when it gets released, that will have details of each member.

The new Community Team wants to make sure that the people involved in managing the coin, and looking to the future, are deliberately not anonymous an that you the Coin(O) community can have a say in Coin(O)'s future.

Whoever complains that solo mining is not working with latest wallet, apparently does it wrong. In less than 1 hour I mined almost 14x more coin than when Coino coin was started Cheesy

I'm using a headless linux wallet at times to solo mine and it works fine.  I do get a few rejects but with a fast block coin that will happen at times.  I routinely point 200kh towards the wallet and get blocks.  If I point 1mh at it... it still works, just more blocks.

I love the SaturnCoin rumor... but as far as I know... it is just that.

Yeah.

I thought the Saturn Coin rumour was pretty cool as well Smiley

Hello you lucky people.

Just thought I would post this sneak preview of the new web wallet layout and some of the features ....
There are also some new and improved messages to help you understand how it works, I know a few people have been a bit confused about login back in etc. The sign up emails will also be more informative to help new users get started.

We are expecting to have the updates to the web wallet released sometime over this weekend

WARNING : Spoiler Smiley

Don't bother trying to donate to this wallet address by the way, as it is just one of my test addresses and probably won't be around long.

However, should you feel the need to make a donation to the Coin(O) Community Wallet then please make all donations to this address :

UWny7ri39ZxdBcTCvNE1tzuPDTD898WvWj

None of the Community Team will directly benefit from any donations you make as the intent of the Community Wallet is to fund community ventures and not the Community Team.

After this release we intend to incorporate more games and a block explorer into the web wallet so that you will be able to query transactions, blocks and addresses, and not just transaction associated with your web wallet account.

I tried to solo mine this coin and got mostly rejects, why is that?  Never had this problem with other coins before.

get the source from http://coinocoin.com
that should work.

you can use addnode=81.4.106.129 to get additional working node

oh look a pool operator.

Hey, where did everyone go?

Quote
Ok then I'll just say what is on my mind.  I think you guys borked the wallet so you can't solo mine it.  Because the truth is that at the current difficulty there is no reason for ANYONE to mine coino with a pool.  And that would leave you pool operators with no income.  Also the pool operators are in on this with the devs.

Prove me wrong.

You are wrong.

Youngwebs may own a pool but he was just trying to help you out.

Nobody , "borked" the wallet as you suggest. The only changes made to the wallets were to fix the issue with daylight savings and address a known problem with KGW.
If you are unable to solo mine now I would think you would not have been able to solo mine previously either. Personally I do not solo mine and have not tested this.

I am unaware that there was or is an issue with solo mining, but if there is, we will test it and put it on the list of things to address for the next wallet release. I cannot tell you when this will be at the moment as we are working on other areas at the moment.

What I can tell you is that once the new website is released we will have a section for reporting and tracking issues such as this.

In the mean time, you can choose from a number of pools to mine at.

The Coin(O) Community Team

Fair enough.  I didn't mean to sound troll like but I solo mine a lot and I've not run into such a problem before.  That said I have never solo mined Coino before.  The thing is that I only got rejects and no approved.  I see you guys are turning this coin around.  Is it true you are also the guys behind Saturn coin or is that just rumors?

I'm not aware anybody on the Community team has had anything to do with Saturn coin. At least nobody on the team has ever mentioned it before so I would have to say no.

All I can say about the solo mining issues your are having is that we will look at it.

In the mean time we will be updating the web wallet over this weekend with some pretty unique features for any wallet, so stay tuned.
If you don't already have a Coin(O) web wallet you can get one from here wallet.coinocoin.com

Last words of Coino?

It appears that way, yes.

Once the new website is finished, this thread will be closed and a new one that is run by the community development team will be created.

If you haven't heard all the good news lately, look back a few pages.  The new team is doing well.

Great to see people standing up to fix a coin and give it to the community! I'm trying to start a foundation that does this for a selected group of coins and makes it easier by having a team of dedicated people to work together on several coins at a time.

You can join the conversation here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=576714.0

The people that are working on COINO now, might be able to get it much further if they contribute to a bigger team. Smiley

Hi.

I think it's great that you are doing this. However, from my point of view my interest is with Coin(O) only at the moment as I am pretty full on running a business and with updating/adding features for the new Coin(O) web wallet.

I can't speak for the rest of the community team, but I do know of one whom has helped at least one other coin get back on track as well.

I wish you luck and if my schedule changes I may well be interested in looking further into this.

ok but i have in wallet +60k con i try directly send from wallet 37000 con to another wallet and wallet dont send only show window with some erorr...

How did you get the 60,000 Coino into the wallet?

There is actually another limit that will come into play here.

This is a section from https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Maximum_transaction_rate

Quote
Each transaction input requires at least 41 bytes for the previous transaction reference and other headers and each transaction output requires an additional 9 bytes of headers. Finally every transaction has a header at least 10 bytes long. Added up we get 166 bytes for the minimum-sized Bitcoin transaction. For 1MB (1,000,000 byte) blocks this implies a theoretical maximum rate of 10tx/s.

However change complicates the situation. It isn't always possible for a client to find a transaction input of the size required. Thus client software will included additional outputs to themselves for the change, and similarly they will include additional inputs to collect change outputs together when no one output is large enough.

So as bgade says, with a large number of small inputs you will quickly reach the transaction limit. You also need to consider that larger transactions (in size) carry much heftier fees, up to 500x the normal fee for a 500KB

The following is how BitCoin calculate their fees for transaction size

Quote
0.01 BTC fee per kilobyte of transaction, but: If the blocksize (size of all transactions currently waiting to be included in a block) is less than 27 kB, transactions are free. If the blocksize is more than 250 kB, transactions get increasingly more expensive as the blocksize approaches the limit of 500 kB. Sending a transaction when the blocksize is 400 kB will cost 5 times the normal amount; sending when it's 499 kB will cost 500x, etc.

So as bgade has stated, to avoid large transaction fees and increase the value of single transaction sent from your wallet you need to accumulate higher value transactions into another wallet address first and then send from that address.

As an example, I transferred 15,000 Coino and the transaction fee for that was 5 Coino rather than 0.1 because the accumulated size of the individual transactions required to make up that single 15,000 coino transaction was so large

Earlier today, the signed certificates were installed on the new Coino Web Wallet.

It has been tested a fair amount and we are ready for mass public testing and use.

As with any web wallet, while steps have been taken to ensure it is secure, we are not able to guarantee its complete safety.  Please store only what you need on the web wallet.  If you have spare Coino, take steps to store it safely, like you would with any digital currency.

You can find the web wallet at:

http://wallet.coinocoin.com

To begin, you need to enter your email address.  You will receive a confirmation with a login link and a hash.  Use the link and the hash to access the wallet.  You are welcome to bookmark the login link.

Should you ever loose the login link, you can simply re-enter your email address to receive a new login link.

This is version one of the wallet.  More features are planned in the near future.

Please provide feedback on the wallet and let us know of any issues you may find.  The wallet is intended to work on any device, but it would be helpful if you try it on an exotic device to let us know if it worked well.

Feel free to spread the word - the wallet is ready for use.

It's been a months I'm mining coino. You guys are doing so incredible job and only thing we can all say thank you for keeping coino alive.

I've sent few coino's to web wallet and it takes about 20s to get there.

But just to ask few things (maybe noob questions's but)

1. Where does .1 Coino fee go? Or to whoom
2. I withdraw all coinos from web wallet and my ballance is now -0.1.

I hope those info's will help to someone.

Thanks for your interest in Coin(O) and the web wallet.

To answer your questions

1. The transaction fees go back into the block chain for mining. This is the reason that some blocks have more than the standard number of coins. Fees are important for rapid transactions as paying the fee ensures that the miners will include your transaction for verification. If the fees were not paid, then miners would have no incentive to verify your transaction and you may find yourself waiting a significant time.

2. After withdrawing all your funds your account is left standing at -0.1 due to this transaction fee as well. This is a bug (thanks for finding it) and I will address it later this week when I release an update to the wallet.

Keep your eyes on the Web Wallet people, we have some very nice new features coming Smiley

Awesome. Just signed up for one and deposited some coinos into it. So far so good.  Love the fast transactions. I'd like to try sending it so if you don't mind, give me a coino address I can send to to test it out. A little gift from me to you Smiley

Richard you can send some to yourself. Just use an address from your desktop wallet

Once we have the new site up and running we will have a community address people can start donating too for future use by the community so keep checking :-)

Just to keep you all informed that we, the coin(O) community team, are working hard in the background to make Coin(O) a world class coin.

There are some good conversations going on over in the irc at freenode.net. just join the #coinocoin channel and join us.

Some of the things we are working on at the moment are a new website design for coinocoin.com and we are also beta testing a new web wallet. There are not many coins out there with their own web wallet and this will allow you to access your coins on any device.

We hope to have some more details about how you can get your new Coin(O) web wallet in the next few days. The current testing is going well and we will only be making a few aesthetic changes before going live as the core functionality seems to be pretty stable.
