41  Bitcoin / Press / [10-14-2018] Bitcoin price vote of confidence on: October 14, 2018, 08:09:34 AM
BITCOIN and other major cryptocurrencies have been given a massive vote of confidence by new research published in a renowned scientific journal, which argues the digital assets have matured and could soon be as reliable as physical money. New research published in the journal Chaos: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Nonlinear Science, suggests investment in the digital asset may be more reliable than previously thought. In a report titled “Bitcoin market route to maturity? Evidence from return fluctuations, temporal correlations, and multiscaling effects,” researchers explain Bitcoin is following some of the same trends of the market as physical currencies.

42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: The whole market is red, but is it worth panicking now? on: October 13, 2018, 02:46:33 AM
From what I have seen in the past, altcoins generally follow bitcoin. And as everything isn't consistently in the red, now it's the time to panic but merely be cautious and watch closely
43  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-10-12] Prime Suspect in $24 Million Bitcoin Scam Arrested in Thailand on: October 13, 2018, 02:41:58 AM
I read about this and actually posted it in the legal thread as a topic in hopes to hear some legal perspectives - I imagine this is probably a landmark case, so it will be interesting to see what happens
44  Other / Off-topic / Re: Positive thinking - does it work or not? on: October 13, 2018, 02:37:32 AM
Whether it works depends on what you are trying to achieve - it can definitely put you in a better mindframe to complete a task or commence a new project. In saying that, positive thinking on its own won't make you achieve something, it is ultimately you that does that
45  Bitcoin / Legal / Bitcoin scam artist arrested in Thailand on: October 13, 2018, 02:32:43 AM
One of the people who allegedly defrauded a Finnish investor of $24 Million worth of Bitcoin (BTC), has recently been detained in Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok on charges of conspiracy to defraud and money laundering. Has anyone been following this at all? I would be interested to hear a legal perspective, as these charges aren't generally associated with bitcoin
46  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do you think about immortality? on: October 13, 2018, 12:47:19 AM
I think a digital copy of the brain and immortality are two different things - I'm not sure if we really want (or should strive for) either to be honest. Our population only grows larger, and our earth can't deal with people not dying, so immortality is a slippery slope. As for digital copies of the brain... again, do we really want/need this? How about we focus on other, more pressing issues in the world instead of putting our energy into these?

A forum like this is likely going to be slightly bias regarding bitcoin...
48  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google Ad Reveals Search Giant's Feelings On Bitcoin And Crypto on: October 12, 2018, 08:54:07 AM
I see a few people asked for the article this is about - it is here : https://www.forbes.com/sites/billybambrough/2018/10/10/google-ad-reveals-search-giants-feelings-on-bitcoin-and-crypto/#315b3435bc1d
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Should I invest to Bitcoin or Ethereum? on: October 11, 2018, 01:22:14 AM
I feel like that if you are asking that question, maybe you aren't in a position to invest in either. It is fine to ask for people's opinions but ultimately, it is your money and you should invest in the one you believe will be most profitable to your circumstances
50  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Google Ad Reveals Search Giant's Feelings On Bitcoin And Crypto on: October 11, 2018, 01:11:59 AM
Forbes were talking about Google Ad and their adverse feelings towards Bitcoin and crypto yesterday and it got me thinking... do you really think it has that big of an effect? Do you think this is overly affecting people's perceptions of Bitcoin and crypto? Or is it just water under the bridge? What do you think affects peoples perceptions more?
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is the crypto market really for anyone? on: October 10, 2018, 11:34:11 AM
Yes, the crypto market is designed for everyone - will everyone be successful? No. Is it 'really' for everyone? Probably not. But is it a system that is DESIGNED for everyone? I believe so.
52  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Asking stores do they accept bitcoin on: October 10, 2018, 11:31:37 AM
My experience is this - if you ask a store if they accept bitcoin, and they say yes, 9 times out of 10 they don't know how to use the software to organise payment anyway. So i very rarely ask unless if it very clear from their signs that bitcoin is accepted and people appear to know what they are doing
53  Other / Off-topic / Bitcoin and books on: October 10, 2018, 11:29:13 AM
Now, I know someone wrote on here about what your favourite book is, but I was reading the news earlier and I read that bitcoin was mentioned in a Goosebumps book (article is at https://bitcoinist.com/bitcoin-featured-in-childrens-goosebumps-book/ if you want to read it) and I was curious to know if anyone else had come across any children's books mentioning bitcoin? Or even your recommended go to book about bitcoin?
54  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't start your day by checking the price of bitcoin in the morning. on: October 10, 2018, 11:25:03 AM
I don't think it's about changing the habit - realistically speaking, people are likely going to continue with the behaviour - however it is about responding to it. I think people have to try and respond differently - check the price and if it's down, don't let it ruin your whole day and if it's up, be happy but don't then go and do something foolish because of it. It's about managing emotions and expectations (easier said than done, I know)
55  Other / Off-topic / Re: does money influence the health of a person on: October 09, 2018, 06:33:56 AM
I believe that there is a connection, both for physical and mental health. If you have the money, you have a whole range of options available to assist you - if you have a cough, you can buy the best medicine available, if you break your leg you can go to the hospital and not worry about not being able to afford the medical bills or if you are depressed, you can go and see a specialist to obtain the best therapy available. Not, this DOES NOT mean that rich people are necessarily happier or more content, which is also linked to health, as some of the poorest people are more content with what they have instead of constantly wanting more, which some with money are guilty of. I think there are so many factors to consider, it is hard to write them all here in one post
56  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Electric Cars - The future ? on: October 09, 2018, 06:26:18 AM
The concept of an electric car is great, and people definitely want to believe and get involved, but until the associated infrastructure is in place than people just won't buy one. One of the most common things I have heard about electric cars is 'I can't go on a long road trip' even though, more than likely, the person making that comment only goes on one 'long' drive a year (if that). So, until those people are convinced that the infrastructure allows them to do things like that, the greater population won't budge on petrol cars
57  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Psychological fear dominates the market on: October 09, 2018, 06:16:46 AM
Doesn't fear 'dominate' a lot of things in life? People are drawn to fear, repulsed by fear, frightened of fear... fear is a mechanism that is used to manipulate and obtain ones goals, whatever they wish to achieve. So, in reality, yes fear is a likely component in the big picture of the market but it isn't the only thing - greed, selfishness and happiness also play a part.
58  Other / Beginners & Help / The bitcoin basics on: October 09, 2018, 05:58:57 AM
So, I was reading the 10 bitcoin basics that everyone should should know, and I was wondering what everyone's personal opinions were for the basics that everyone, especially beginners, should know? The article I was reading is here if you want to read further/know what they said (I don't agree with everything they said, but they do make some good points) : https://www.fool.com/investing/2018/10/07/10-bitcoin-basics-every-crypto-investor-should-kno.aspx
59  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Should I do if my bitcoin has been stolen, and where should i complain ? on: August 15, 2018, 06:02:55 PM
Hi Friends, actually one of my BTC address from Zebpay account having almost 0.01550 BTC has been hacked and the amount has been stolen just few days ago. The amount was not quite big for me, but i really fear about the security of holding the BTC in exchanges and now even in wallets.

I Just want to know is there any ways i can get back my BTC back to my account and also is there any website or authority who can help me out in getting back my stolen BTC, let me know about it. Also let me know what safety measurement should i take while holding my BTC in Exchanges. Thanks in advance.
You're probably just out of luck. I mean, you have a little chance of getting some help by Zebpay, since you're on an exchange. But, for the most part, it's your fault that you didn't take more measure to secure your account. It's important to secure your computer too because there are many ways for hackers to access your computer and track what you're doing. The whole idea of Bitcoin is that it's decentralize. There's not really anybody to complain to.
60  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why We Are In This World? on: August 14, 2018, 11:29:23 AM
Question that is plagued human mind since the birth of the world, what is this all about?
Why we are here?

Write what do you think.

P.S
I  always found interesting to read answers to this question.
I think it's always a question that worries people. As far as we can tell, we may be the only species to worry so much about that. Other animals seem to just keep on living regardless of what's happening around them. Humans have been creating explanations for the purpose of life. I personally am not sure about why we exist on this earth, whether we existed before, and whether we will keep exist after we die here. For me, my purpose is to follow my dreams. Life is short. I understand that if I don't do what I want now, the chance may never come again.
