I believe the fan settings need tweaked. Seems that they default to ~50% if the manual setting box is unchecked and never move from there regardless of chip temp. Problem with setting them higher is it seems to cause instability with the rig I'm testing on.
Like what you're doing here, but this feature definitely needs addressed IMO.

The amount of butt hurt and young teen threats on here is nauseating. Deal with it. Bitmain is not responsible for ensuring the miners they sell are profitable - they bring a product to market, you either buy it or you don't.
Look, Bitman's lapdog. Nope, just a miner without a sense of entitlement.

Yeah, having same problem - lesson learned.
Next time I'll source PSUs elsewhere, such is life.

Google and read. This is a pre-novice level question.

Its a free market. Don't cry if you make a bad decision buying a miner.

I only mine coins that are on polo margin markets, then use them as leverage to trade on margin. I NEVER have more out on loan than my actual margin value, don't leverage at 2.5x. Gives a nice buffer to ride it out when the market goes the opposite direction that you thought it would.

HODL. Price keeps pace with difficulty - DASH value will adjust. You've got to diversify and mine more than one coin, sell enough of most profitable coin to cover operating costs and hoard everything else.

This is a good lesson in diversifying. Hold least profitable coins and sell most profitable to cover electricity. I'm selling ETH and holding DASH. When the S9s arrive I'll have another option.

Thread for hacked D3 firmware. I'm messing with it now on one of my D3s that has been having beaucoup HW errors on a card.
|
|
|
I've not been very impressed / swayed with these new mobos that support 12+ GPUs. I see the upfront cost benefit of saving on CPU / RAM / SSD, but that doesn't outweigh the cost of 12+ GPUs going down vs 6 going down when a rig hangs. Just my $0.02.

That PowerColor Red Devil RX570 is a solid mining card. I'm getting ~31mh/s on them with simple memshift mod.
|
|
|
Seems to be some instability caused when using manual mode for fans. Chips were running a bit warm so upped to speed and started getting HW errors. Anyone else seeing this?
Also, blizz - thank you for putting in the work on this. 1.5% fee is definitely reasonable for what you've provided. Look forward to watching this evolve.

Anything is possible. I share this with you though:
A watercooling loop is just one more component that can go bad. This is spoken from experience as a former antminer c1 owner. Pumps can fail, tubes and radiators can leak, etc.

we are talking about possibility to adding more algos for D3 with this topic , not only fan mod , right ?
If think we should start from the beginning... fan mod...voltage mode so increase efficiency... then if it's possible add algo but not sure about this point and we are Ok to say X11 it a chain of 11 algo.... (blake, bmw, groestl, jh, keccak, skein, luffa, cubehash, shavite, simd, and echo.) so that mean the asics 'know' how to do some groestl algo... infact good poin ... we need know how change command (possibly via ssh) send a command to cgminer on d3 to change algo and try if mining work... anyone can help in this? We need more than this..in SSH you can restart cgminer with other parameters Aka : fan..or voltage (i have the parameters and a possible value for this) But in term of algo..i think we need to recompile cgminer from source (changing stuff to have only groestl for example) So it will require more investigation but I will continue on this please public this parameters do you have... into cgminer.conf you can use "bitmain-voltage" : "xxx" but Need to double check the default value (I think it's 176 => 1.76V) but don't do it if you are not sure This is interesting - about two or three weeks ago the diff for goestlcoin blew up, 3x in three days. Maybe somebody figured this one out already?

Haven't seen any difference between cards on risers (1x) and cards in slot (16x). Claymore's miner only uses ~1GB of VRAM though so there might be a bottleneck down the line when software is further optimized?!?!
|
|
|
So the issue here is giving credit? How would Claymore "make it right" if this is true? His miner runs faster and more stable than anything else out there, people are going to continue using it.

After boot from working BIOS, just flip the BIOS switch and try to reflash. Should work.
