Goldman Sachs is dropping its plans to open a trading desk focused on cryptocurrencies, Business Insider reported Wednesday.

Previous reports had indicated that Goldman was hoping to set up a trading desk for bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies by the end of June. Now, Business Insider says, officials at the investment firm realized that more steps would need to be taken for a regulated bank to trade bitcoin, including factors beyond Goldman’s control.

Это статья просто мега разоблачение.  Возможный читинг объема на бирже ексмо не лезет ни в какие ворота. Теперь понимаю как глупо иметь узкое поле зрение, когда можешь охватить своим вниманием всего пару ico, затем  вкладываешься в них на нормальную котлету. Не нужно включать режим хомяка, а иметь 70% портфеля в битке как пишут умные люди. Потому что хочешь на упавшем в 10раз от ико Helbiz сделать x2-3, а получаешь  минус 500%. Такие уроки пошли сейчас, что не дай Бог.

Наверное выводить уже смысла нет, буду дальше следить за проектом, не очень верю что граждане Евросоюза типа Сальваторе Палеллы могут так просто безнаказанно обмануть кучу инвесторов, возможно они все же чего то пилят и на этом ожидании и на общерыночном отскоке можно будет выйти.

Если кто помнит, когда сливались первые токены, минимальная цена была 0.00001 ETH, примерно как сейчас, возможно им не выгодно лить цену дальше, кто знает.

Bahrain Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza has called blockchain technology a “true mark of progress” as he urges companies to take full advantage of its benefits.

Speaking at the SmartSec Cyber Security and Blockchain Conference 2018, Mirza said the blockchain technology is an “important advancement” that helps us find a secure way to “facilitate transactions”,  News of Bahrain reports.

“Technologies such as blockchain take us a huge step forward in finding a secure way to facilitate transactions. Blockchain’s ability to protect user’s data is a true mark of progress, because it can be applied in different companies from different industries including cybersecurity.”

The Minister also urged Bahraini companies to embrace the initiative as it has the power to promote “innovation” among the “great minds of the community.” He also spoke on cybersecurity and its threat to the global community. According to Mirza, “cyber-security is an essential part of our lives,” and the threat of cyber attacks should not be taken lightly.

The world’s third-largest oil-producer seeks to follow in the footsteps of Venezuela, which has issued an oil-backed digital currency called the Petro. But can Iran succeed where Venezuela is ostensibly faltering?

Iran to Start Mining Cryptocurrencies in Three Weeks

Iran has agreed to officially recognize the mining of cryptocurrencies as an industry and the Central Bank of Iran, which oversees foreign exchange and monetary policy, will draft a policy framework for the industry in the next 18 days.

The Secretary of Iran’s Supreme Council of Cyberspace, Abolhassan Firouzabadi, told IBENA – a specialized news agency in banking and economy which is affiliated to the Central Bank of Iran – that deepening the use of cryptocurrencies is envisaged to smoothen trade between Tehran and its partners, especially in the wake of renewed US sanctions.

According to IBENA, Firouzabadi stressed that mining of cryptocurrencies like bitcoin had “been accepted as an industry in the government and all related organisations..” These include the government’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Central Bank, Ministry of Industry, Mining and Trade, Ministry of Energy, as well and Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance.

“But the final policy for legislating it (crypto mining) hasn’t been declared yet,” said IBENA.

My friend sold his ico tokens for Ethereum and went abroad, to visit his relatives. Now he came back and found his money cut for 40% in few month. I told him to use Bitcoin or Tether for this, but he was lazy to convert ETH to other assets.

What would you recommend him to do, convert this amount to Bitcoin and forget about ETH price recovering?

Because there is a sad speculations about continuing ETH downtrend up to 100$ per token.

As Bitcoin mining becomes more popular, the electrical cost for running the operation is causing a series of problems for local communities and environmental groups.

Soluna, a computing company that uses renewable energy to power its systems, wants to offset the carbon footprint of mining Bitcoin by building a wind-powered blockchain computing infrastructure in the Sahara Desert.

Since it was first launched, blockchain has been a menace to the energy sector as it relies on the Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus mechanism to remain secure. Bitcoin already consumes too much energy. Digiconomist reports mining operation uses approximately 71 terawatt hours (TWh) per year, an equivalent of 10% of China’s annual energy usage. It also uses as much energy as Ireland and Austria. Due to the high energy consumption of the activity, miners are continually looking for communities where power is cheap.

According to its press release, Soluna will develop a 900MW wind farm power plant in Morocco which will be combined with the company’s private computing facilities to power the blockchain in an eco-friendly and sustainable way.

Soluma aims to build 36 megawatts of capacity by 2020 and expects to create the 900MW in the next five years.

Three years ago, Microsoft Azure was the first to bring blockchain to the cloud. Now it's connecting the technology to just about everything else.

The software giant has quietly been building bridges between its blockchain services and other, widely used infrastructure and platforms, such as Office 365 Outlook, SharePoint Online, Salesforce, Dynamics 365 CRM Online, SAP, and even Twitter, according to Matt Kerner, the general manager of Microsoft Azure. The idea is to allow Microsoft customers to port their data from these platforms into the cloud, and from there onto a blockchain.

Why? In addition to the usually touted blockchain efficiencies, one of the less-discussed benefits of distributed ledger technology (DLT) in a cloud environment like Azure, according to Microsoft, is that it amasses data from multiple companies in a standardized format at scale. The potential to mine data for all sorts of insights then becomes limitless, the company reckons.

Hence, the company is integrating tools such as Microsoft Flow and Logic Apps – which offer hundreds of connectors to thousands of applications – into Azure Blockchain Workbench, a service it launched in May to make the creation of blockchain apps easier (Workbench currently has ethereum Proof of Authority configured as the consensus protocol).

It's all a part of the evolution of Big Data, Kerner explained. Prior to blockchain, he pointed out, cloud computing enabled departments within the same company to break out of their data silos and collaborate on heterogeneous data sets, increasing smarts through machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI). 

"Blockchain empowers the next step – enabling a single, authentic data set shared across counterparties. This is already improving the way transactions happen," Kerner told CoinDesk, adding, "We believe the same will be true with data analytics."

The Japanese National Police Agency is reportedly installing a system to track the flow of crypto transactions in order to aid investigations of cryptocurrency-related cybercrime. The system is expected to be limited to major cryptocurrencies, according to local media.

Tracking Crypto Transactions

Japan’s National Police Agency (NPA) announced on August 30 that it “has mapped out a policy to introduce software next fiscal year to visualize the transaction history of virtual currencies in the face of increasing money laundering, massive theft and other cases related to cryptocurrencies,” the Yomiuri Shimbun reported.

“Traditionally, many criminal offenses concerning virtual currencies involve transactions via multiple accounts,” Fisco news outlet conveyed, adding that the police “had to trace [an] enormous [amount of] records during investigations.” Elaborating on the new crypto tracking system, the publication described:

'The service target is limited to major currencies such as bitcoin (BTC) and ethereum (ETH), and it is expected to be available for use by the National Police Agency, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department and the Osaka Prefectural Police Department next fiscal year.'

Blockchain and cryptocurrency jobs are increasingly appealing to job seekers from more conventional sectors in Asia — even as the technology’s most famous use case struggles on the price front.

Blockchain technology, which underpins cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin, is a digital record of transactions that cannot be altered. It has the potential to not only disrupt much of finance, but also many other industries.

The much-hyped technology has been adopted over the last two years by both start-ups and more established corporations. Mainstream interest in the space picked up last year as cryptocurrency prices soared late in 2017.

If job postings are any indication, that trend is going to grow. Recruitment firm Robert Walters said it has seen a 50 percent increase in the number of roles related to blockchain or cryptocurrencies in Asia since 2017, with developers with Python language skills among the most highly sought after.

A cursory search for blockchain jobs on LinkedIn yields results for openings at corporations like IBM along with positions at newer businesses, such as cryptocurrency exchange Binance.

And there’s also strong interest from job seekers: According to data from job search engine Indeed’s main Asian markets (Australia, India, Singapore and Malaysia), there’s been high interest in blockchain roles.

Due to its relative nascency, however, many of those entering the cryptocurrency and blockchain-related space are coming from other industries.

“We hardly ever hire from inside of crypto because most people inside of crypto are very inexperienced. You have very, very few people who are experienced who get into the crypto industry,” said Julian Hosp, co-founder of Singapore-based crypto wallet and card start-up TenX.

In fact, even though there are plenty of blockchain enthusiasts looking to join the industry, “not many people have the actual skill sets” required for developer roles, said John Mullally, director of financial services at Robert Walters in Hong Kong.
